New Release fo air port expected soon?

Given the various problems afflicting the cooperation between Time Machine a Air Port, someone knows whether Apple is considering a new release of either of those supports or to get rid of either...?

  • Is there going to be a new release of Mac OS Leopard soon?

I am about to purchase a new Macbook but should I wait for the new Mac OS program to come out?
    Dell Insprion 8600   Windows XP

Apple's deonstrating it in August. See http://www.apple.com/pr/library/2006/jun/26wwdc.html for the announcement (no speculation there). Beta-testing hasn't started, but based on the previous two versions, Panther and Tiger, that usually takes about six months. So look for it February to April, 2007.

  • I bought a new router and now my mac can no longer find my air port express

I recently installed a new Netgear N600 router.  The internet and wireless are working.  I had previously purchased an Airport Express for use simply as Air Tunes and used it with our old router with no problems.  However, since we installed the new router the Air Port utility cannot find the Airport Express.  I have reset the settings on the Airport by pushing the little button.
I have tried connecting using an ethernet and Airport Utility still cannot find the express.
Any suggestions or help would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks!

I would suggest that you start by performing a "factory default" reset on the AirPort Express Base Station (AX). Once completed, you should be able to access the AX via the AirPort Utility. Note: Be sure to first connect to the AX's wireless network BEFORE accessing it with the utility.

  • When is there going to be a new macbook pro/air release?

I have been saving my money up for sometime now to purchase either a new macbook pro or a new macbook air. I have been constantly checking the internet for any news regarding when the new releases of the macbook pro/air will be available. I was hoping that Apple would announce news regarding the new versions of the macbook when they presented the iPad but as you all probably know this did not happen.
My question is as follows: I do not want to purchase my new macbook until the new releases come out. With that being said I am growing impatient and have heard little news regarding this subject (presumably because of all the hype surrounding the iPad). Thus, could any of you more informed Apple analysts give me a ballpark figure on when you expect to see the new versions of the macbook pro/air for sale? I can and I will wait a couple of additional weeks for the new releases but I might cave in and buy one now if it is going to be a while before the new versions are released.
    Thanks,
    John Michael

You're in for a very long wait then, because there will always be something better, faster, sexier, newer around the corner ...
All hardware manufacturers operate in product cycles and you're right in thinking that if a model has been out for 18-24 months it's "likely" a revision is due, but that's a guess and nobody here knows (or if they do they are bound by NDA's not to reveal anything).

  • What do I need to connect my new Yamaha RX-V671 receiver wirelessly to my Air Port Express?

I have just received my new Yamaha RX-V671 receiver and the only connection I have for the internet is by a network cable or by a USB slot.  I would like to hook this up wirelessly to my Air Port Express, I just need to know what I need to get so I can stream my itunes to this receiver.  My receive is roughly about 50 feet from my Air Port Express.

but what I was hoping to do is hook up my receiver wirelessly
Sorry, but if the receiver only has an Ethernet connection or USB...as you say....then you are going to have to use some kind of wireless-to-Ethernet adapter....like the AirPort Express that I suggested....or another similar product to accomplish your goal of providing a network connection to the receiver.
It would be wireless from your "main" AirPort Express to the second AirPort Express, with a short Ethernet cable from the second Express to the receiver.

  • I just bought a new iMac and I am using a apple air port router.  How do I connect mt windows PC to the air port router do I can move files

I Just purchased a 21.5 iMac and connected it to the Internet using a apple air port router.  How do I connect my windows PC to my air port router so I can transfer files.

It makes life easier to install the airport utility for windows.. which has a couple of different apps in it.. if you airport is new type then the utility is too old.. but is still valuable for Bonjour which provides network information for shared devices in the apple world to windows.. and a disk access agent..
It will also help the Apple computer access shared directory in the windows computer.. nowadays this is pretty easy.

  • Can I use the new Air port extreme to scan, print, and share a hard drive?

I currently have a canon 3and1 pixma MP750 printer, and a lacie brick 250gb usb external drive. I'm looking into buying a airport extreme "n" base station and a apple tv to share all my music on my home theater. I'm also planning on updating my current system to an Imac 17" intel duo 2.18g. My question is will I be able to use the scan function on my printer with the air port extreme, or is there away to connect multiple computers to 1 printer? (ie emac directly to printer and airport extreme directly to printer via some product I may not know of) And do you for see any problems sharing the HD drive between the emac, a new imac and a windows based pc with xp operating system if connected throught the airport via usb hub to acomidate the printer as well as the HD?
Emac G4 1gig   Mac OS X (10.4.1)   Shopping for new mac

My question is will I be able to use the scan function on my printer with the air port extreme
Unfortunately, no. The new AirPort Extreme Base Station, like all other AirPort Base Stations, do not support the scan or copy features of "all-in-one" printers attached to their USB ports. This is primarily due to the fact that these features require two-way communications which the USB port does not support.
is there away to connect multiple computers to 1 printer?
Yes, if the printer is Ethernet-enabled, you can connect it to one of the AEBS's LAN ports...or use a Wireless Ethernet Bridge, like the Linksys WET54G to connect the printer wirelessly to the AEBS.
And do you for see any problems sharing the HD drive between the emac, a new imac and a windows based pc with xp operating system if connected throught the airport via usb hub to acomidate the printer as well as the HD?
No, the new AEBS should support this.

  • Air port express needed for streaming if I have new apple TV?

I had so far a setup for music streaming where I used an additional airport express station where I have my AV receiver and had this station connected to the receiver. This old air port station is not working anymore and I anyway will change my whole setup now because I will get a new AV receiver with HDMI and I will connect a new apple TV directly to the receiver via HDMI. My question is whether I need to buy and connect also a new airport express station for some music streaming etc or can I with the new setup stream everything I want by using only the appletv (since the appletv supports also wlan)? I don't have at this place a lan cable availavle and also don't want to get one there, therefore I will need a wireless solution.
    Thanks in advance,
    Thomas

You can connect AppleTV to the reciever via HDMI or optical.
AppleTV's HDMI implementation has always been rather fussy and can be incompatible with some HDMI switches/receivers.
One potential issue is reports from some users that if the TV is not displaying the AppleTV output, then it goes to sleep and cannot be used for streaming audio - most of these reports relate to AppleTV connected to TV by HDMI and secondary optical output to receiver.
It may work fine for you but there is such a myriad of AV kit and TVs it's impossible to be sure without testing in a particular combination.
I assume you would use the AppleTV for other features not just audio, else just get an Airport Express.
AppleTV has wi-fi and ethernet connections - apart from the audio output side of things it does not do any of the other things an Express does.
Of note is reports that AppleTV always outputs stereo content as 16bit 48kHz PCM over optical and probably HDMI too.
If you choose AppleTV remember that in addition to using it as an Airport speaker for audio (redubbed Airplay as it now includes video in some instances) pushed from iTunes AppleTV can pull audio files directly from iTunes to play and output using it's onscreen menu system controlled by the physical remote or Apple's Remote app for iPhione/iPad etc.  Do an A/B of both audio streams they will differ - itunes effects will get pushed through Airplay, they're not added when AppleTV directly plays the files (better in my experience when using in a hi-fi setting not compensating for small computer speaker deficiencies).

  • Multicast (IGMP) in new  air port extreme??

multicast (IGMP) in new  air port extreme??

You can get to IGMP settings going to AirPort utility. In network tab there are extended network options tab then enable IGMP tracking (or something like this, I don't know how it named in english version)
    Ed.
But! If you enable this option, this won't get multicast to you.
You still won't connect to multicast streams on 224.0.0.0-224.0.0.255

  • I am trying to get my new Time Capsule to be recognized on my Air Port Utility on an Imac.

I am trying to get my new Time Capsule to be recognized on my Air Port Utility on an Imac.

It has to flash rapidly .. not the normal flashing which is slow.
Are you holding in reset and actually feeling it switch on.. and keep holding it until the LED goes crazy and flashes really fast.
If that is not working your TC is faulty.. I suggest you take it to Apple for testing.

  • New Air Port Extreme and old Air Port Express?

Just got my Air Port Extreme up an running. Is there any reason why my 4 year old Air Port Express would not work with the new Extreme?
The extreme saw briefly yesterday but today the computer doesn't see the express and the extreme only flashes with the orange light showing it has no signal.
Only thing that did change was I did the firmware update on the extreme.

    Welcome to the discussions!
Connect an ethernet cable from your computer directly to one of the LAN <-> ports on the Extreme. Open AirPort Utility - Manual Setup so the summary page is displayed.
Click on the amber dot and a message will appear with the reason for the flashing amber light on the Extreme. What is the message?
Regarding the Express, how do you plan to use it in your network?

  • New Air Port Time Capsule Not Working With Old Airport Express

I have been running a home network comprised of a Air Port Time Capsule (A1254) and 5 ea Air Port Express (A1264) for several years with no problem.
The Air Port Time Capsule (A1254) died and I replaced it with an Air Port Time (A1470). Now none of the Air Port Express (A1264) work, all flashing yellow. All other network functions seem to work okay, Time Capsule Backup, Apple TV, Internet …
I am using AirPortUtility 6.3.1 for setup but do not see any way to setup the Air Port Express.

Reset the Express to factory and start over.. they should work.. are you using all 5 in extend wireless mode?
When you reset the Express click on the wifi icon in the top menu area.. and the newly reset AEx will appear in the list.. click it and Airport utility will open and attempt to automagically connect it to the TC.

You might want to try on their discussion board.
    WebCenter Interaction hasn't released 11g yet, and won't until mid-next year(or so I hear).
Per the WCI statement of direction from 2/09
"WCI 11g is expected to support Windows Server 2008, IPv6 and 64-bit Windows in both Java and .NET versions. WCI 11g is also expected to support Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and .NET Framework 3.5."

  • JSF 1.0 - JSF 1.1 - new Release

JSF 1.0 have the back button bag. For this reason I could not use it for my application or at least I could not release my application with JSF 1.0 because of it.
JSF 1.1 have multiple form bug. I cannot use it as well, because my application needs multiple forms. I tried to switch to one single <h:form> tag encapsulating the entire page but to many buttons are not working any more. I need <f:verbatim> tags to put some static HTML like flash for example. All buttons after <f:vrbatime> .. </f:vrbatime> are not working any more.
I think there is definitely a need for an JSF 1.1 beta or whatever you call it, that will have fixed these two bugs. They are so essential that more than 30% all postings in last moths are only dealing with these issues.
My project is getting delayed because of this and I will soon have problem explaining our customer why they have to wait longer.
I would appreciate it very much if JSF developers could please comment this and let us at least know if we can expect the new release soon. I think the most people in this forum have same problems delaying projects because of these two bugs.
    Thanks a lot in advance:
    Nermin B.

  • Air Port Express Configuration

Hi   I am sure that this is a dumb question but hopefully someone will be able to assist me.
At my home I have three Air Port Express adaptors  - one as a base station, the others as repeaters to extend the range of the signal.  These have been configured to use the IP range 10.0.0.x and have been working OK.    The base station adaptor is both connected via a ethernet cable to my ADSL router, and is set to manage DHCP.
Over the weekend I have occasion to look at the settings for my ADSL router, I am about to repace it and wanted to get all the settings for the new router.
I noticed that I have, as expected a dedicated IP address from my ISP, but that the internal IP range of the ADSL router was set to 192.168.0.x range.
Surely this is wrong, and it should be set to the same range as my Air Port Express units shouldn't it, and if so I am not quite sure how the network has worked all this time.
    Many thanks for any assistance
    A

In your current network configuration, you have two routers in series, each with their DHCP server service enabled. Most non-Apple routers typically provide DHCP clients with IP addresses in the 192.168.n.n range and is exactly what your current ADSL router is doing.
Since you have the first AirPort Express Base Station (AX) directly connected to this ADSL router, it will receive an IP address on its WAN port in this 192.1689.n.n range, but since it too has DHCP server service active, any wireless clients connected to it would receive IP address in the 10.0.n.n range.
You would also have a "double NAT" condition. In itself this is not necessarily a bad thing, but does tend to introduce other issues, especially if you wish to share resources between clients connected to either router. In most cases, where you have routers in series, you would want to reconfigure the downstream router as a bridge.
