New resolution - small fonts

Hi
I just bought a new monitor and with it, I'm using a brand new screen resolution, 1400X900. Everything is fine except that I find the fonts a little small for my old eyes. In certain apps like Firefox, it's possible to modify the fonts so there is no problem with these apps. The situation is different with some other apps in which there are no possibilities to modify the fonts. The main menu of OS X is a little small, too.
Last year, I tried a trick supplied in one of those Mac specialized sites (it involved using the terminal) and I messed up a few things in my setup (even after I reverted back to where I was before)so I want to be very cautious this time.
I would appreciate some help, please

I know what you mean. It took me a while to get used to using 1440X900 on my iMac a few years ago. I still use "Command +" all the time while browsing. Almost every time I start a browser, either Safari or Camino, the first thing I do is increase the text size. It helps to experiment with the font sizes but I've found that I still need to use "Command +" a lot.
As for the system menus and other system text, I don't know how to increase that. I do agree with Kurt that the native resolution of an LCD definitely provides the clearest (but smallest) relative text size. I've decreased the resolution to lower settings than 1440X900 but have always quickly switched back and now I've pretty much gotten used to the high resolution.
Things will remain this way for us until Apple puts into Mac OS X some sort of fully scalable, system wide text size adjustment (if that's possible).

Steve M.

Why are the graphics/page in facebook suddenly smaller font and images? Is not happening in IE and screen resolution is correct.

I heard back from Nike+ support and they said that there will be newer pics soon and it also appears that this corrected itself for my runs, but not the user pic, I only get girly options, I wouldn't mind a picture of a guy on 'ROIDS!!! Just kidding, but something less feminine or cartoon like, I'm trying to be serious about this and the site should reflect that.

  • Why does Apple support print those "Hello" booklets that came with my new iMac in super small fonts?

Yesterday I purchased the latest available 27inch iMac from my local Apple only dealer.     ( It sure beats my very first Mac which was an LC520. )
The included in the box printed quick start guide named "Hello" was printed using a font size very close to zero.
Who are these people at Apple support that can read such small fonts with using 20X powered magnifying lenses
    Are they somewhat...
What a waste of mony Apple!

I think it's a point worth making.  It is virtually unreadable.
On reflection, I'm wondering if there is an obligation in some countries to provide such information with a device.   This could be Apple's way of complying while spending the absolute minimum.

  • New printer prints texts in very small font

This is an HP Photosmart c4650. I have correctly installed (and at the suggestion of an HP tech, uninstalled and reinstalled) the software that came with the printer. The scan and copy functions are fine. And the print quality is also good. The issue is that everything that prints out is in a super small font (maybe 7). This is true whether I am trying to print from a word, notepad, or web document. HP has been unable to resolve this. Any help would be appreciated.

Can you try the steps in the  document and see if it helps:

  • Photoshop Elements 12 with UHD (4k) Monitor - Very small Fonts and Icons

    Hello,
I´m using Photoshop Elements 12 under Windows 8.1 64bit with a Sapphire Radeon X9 R290 4GB-Graphics Card. Since a couple of days with a new Dell UP2414Q, UHD (4k) Monitor, max. Resolution 3840x2160 Pixel.
After connecting this device and using max. Resolution, most Fonts appear so small, that it is almost impossible to read.
Dell delivers a Display Manager-Software that allows to scale Fonts. Most Windows Apps are using this. Font Size is already set to 200%.
Unfortunatelly Organizer and Photoshop ignore this and text remains very small within these programs.
Activating "Bearbeiten / Voreinstellungen / Allgemein / Systemschrift verwenden" did not help.
Deinstallation (and deleting user-Settings) with Reinstalling also did not help.
(I added a screenshot here, but it does not show the truth... In reality all Fonts are about half the size.)
How can I get larger Fonts?
I´m really looking Forward to an answer.
    Regards.

  • Right side menu too small font size of letters in Windows 8.1 High DPI screen

Hi, I just own a new laptop with Windows 8.1 and high resolution screen.
When I start Adobe Reader, the document area seems to be readable, with "normal size fonts", but the options menú in the right side uses a very small fonts size and is hardly readable.
I tried to change it using the Windows "change menu, title, icons size, but withpout success.
    Any solution for it?
By the way, in a Lenovo Ideapad U430 Touch, there is not "magnyfying glass" combination key and the zoom function of the touch screen doesn't work either in that right side menu área (it works in the document area, not in the right side menu area).
    Any help will be welcomed.
    Thanks.

    Hi, Pat, test done.
Thanks for your suggestion, it was somehow helpful, or, let say, half and half.
It was helpful in the way that when I opened the preferences Windows I was not able to see the full window, there was a part of the right side of the window that was out of the screen. So, when I changed the "scaling settings options and behaviour" from "Auto" (default value) to 100% everything was in the display.... So, this was of high help.
BUT I was not able to find any way in all the suggested document for making the fonts used in the right window of the Adobe Reader, the one where the "Tools" and "Comments" menus are displayed more readable, bigger size, than the one that the product uses by default in the High DPI display.
So, thanks for the suggested document that helped to solve the first point.
    BUT
Any other idea that could help for changing the fonts used in the "Tools" or "Comments" menu window?
    Thanks and kind regards.

  • Images should grow or shrink when the user chooses a larger or smaller font size in ADE.

    Hi All,
I use percentage values (in "width" attribute within "img" element) for image that should grow or shrink when the user
chooses a larger or smaller font size. The adjustment affects not only the size of the text but also images but the images
are getting distorted or blurred when user chooses larger font size in Adobe Digital Editions.
Can anyone, please guide me; how to get non-distorted and non-blur images in epub package?
If I directly use images, without svg format i.e. png or jpg files, then images get overlapped on body-text in two column display in ADE.
    OR
if I directly use jpg or png with width attribute varying in percentage value then image shrinks and grows as user chooses smaller and larger font size but the problem of distorted image remains as it is
    <div class="media-group"><img src="images/pa0000016g26001.png or jpg" alt="Image" width="60 or 70%" /></div>

    Hi DenisonDoc,
There is no option right now to set properties globally primarily for Text fields. You may make sure fields doesn't contain anything.
Select all the text filed from the form and right click any of the selected field make sure all of them are selected choose properties --> Appearance there you can choose Font Size and Font type.
    - End users cant change size and type of font. It is up to designer.

  • JTextArea uses a small font that i cant read

I tried viewing a few examples of java swing applications but everytime i see a JTextArea on them the font on it is really small and hard to read. (I think it uses new courier, size 9 according to an application i tried to make on NetBeans)
apparently it doesn't happen on application that use the windows look and feel and look like a native program.
This also happens on two computers i own and also on my friends computers.
    I am using java 6u12.
    Windows xp sp3.
All the computers i tested this on are set to hebrew locales. but the last time i tried changing the locale thinking this was the problem it didnt help.
What is causing this, and is there any way to fix this?

something is still causing it to have a really small font. That something is in its source.... you can't change it (though you can, by changing it and compiling it once again yourself)
    1. JTextArea has small font under windows look and feelTry running following program to check the font of text area in different look and feels:

  • Small fonts in email ??

I'm just catching on to using a new I\iMMac 20 with os X so understand, I'm a novice here.
My problem is that "Mail" is set up and working ok through and ISP and I send and receive with no problem. My problem is that most all of the received email is tiny font (very small). I've tried all different ways to change the font size to something larger without success.
What must I do? Is there something I'm missing?
    Help will be appreciated.

    Hi
I tried changing the font size via Mail preferences. I do get larger sizes for the mailboxes and the message headlines. However the messages themselves remain in small font.
Can I increase their size too?
    Thanks

  • Mr Magoo has problems with the small font print in the "Everything Mac" man

Well thanks to a one year no payments offer by my local Future Shop i purchased the iMac 3.0.6GHz.
However the "Everything Mac" manual and other enclosed printed documents are printed in extremely small fonts.
Is there a download site for a pdf version which may allow me to print or view the instructions in larger print.
Lordy, SteveJobs must have extremely good vision.

If you find a PDF copy such as this http://manuals.makeuseof.com.s3.amazonaws.com/the-mac-manual.pdf - open that in Safari and zoom to your heart's delight.
As well, go to System Preferences/Universal Access and see if any options there help out.
And finally, if you also have the new Magic Mouse, simply hold down on the Control Key on your keyboard and 'scroll' with one finger fore/aft on the mouse top to zoom with ease.
Good luck and any case and enjoy your new Mac.
Just a note....be sure that manual is current with the OS version on your new computer - things have changed in many ways and if you're learning, you should learn in sync, etc.

  • Small fonts illegible in version 6 browsers

    Hi Folks,
Can anyone explain why version 6 browsers seem to display
small fonts (8 px or less) not as sharp as IE7
in fact they are most of the time illegible and squashed..
Bonus if anyone has a solution to this
    Cheers
    J

Anything but points. Use px if you want, but be aware that px
    will not
resize in IE without extra modification by the user. It will
    resize in any
other modern browser, though. Use relative size metrics (em,
    en, ex,
percent) if you are familiar with the cascade issues with
    them and can
accommodate that in your styles. Use font size names (small,
    medium, large)
if you can accept the limited sizing options.

  • When i cut from the web and paste onto pages, i am missing half the article, unless i change it to a smaller font.

when i cut from the web and paste onto pages, i am missing half the article, unless i change it to a smaller font. Even then the rest of the article is not continuing onto the next page, it seems like it is stuck in a text box but it wont expand. I must be missing something i just not figuring it out.

Many web pages uses a table system and when you copy you get the table too. Pages 09 retains the table. PAges 08 don't.
Tryy this: When you have pasted into a Pages document select some text and then hit Cmd + A to select all text. Paste into a new blank document. Tha tshould help.

  • FF18.0 Mac OS. right click (control click) on left half of an additional display brings the menu up in small font on the laptop

Upgraded to FF18.0 from the prior version (Mac OS 10.8.2) and it works great on my MacBook Pro Retina display. However, if either a 27" Thunderbolt Display or 27" LED Cinema Display is also plugged in and the browser is on the separate display there is a problem:
Right or control clicking the browser window anywhere on the left half of the separate display brings the pop up menu on the laptop in very small font (presumably at the higher resolution of the separate monitor). The problem also occurs with links on web pages that have preview pop ups when you hold the cursor over the link.
These were not issues in the FF17.x version I was previously using.

Hey , I understand that you are not able to print the court seal on legal documents on your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this issue. However, I do need to clarify a few things before I will be able to guide you to a solution.  (1) What program are you printing these court documents through?   (2) Does the court seal appear in a Print Preview window under the program?    Once I have the answers to my two questions above I will be happy to guide you to a solution. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • Why Premiere Title don´t see my new True Type fonts?

I´ve installed several new true type fonts but Premiere´s Title don´s see them. What can I do to fix it?
    Thanks.

    Ann,
I think that I missed something in your commets. Please help me understand. On my workstation, I've got over 9K Fonts. These are in my C:\Fonts\PS_Fonts, \\TT_Fonts and \\OTF_Fonts folders. The only ones that show up in any program are the ones that are "installed" in my system. I cannot "test drive" any of the non-installed in any program, that I know of, except, of course, Extensis Suitcase.
What am I missing? Maybe, I'm about to learn something really new and neat?
    Thanks,
    Hunt
PS to the OP, do you have a list of the Fonts, that are not showing up? I'd be curious to see what they are. I've seen times that some of the Asian Fonts did not show, even when properly installed. There is a "patch" from MS for those, but cannot find the link. I believe that some Arabic Fonts also need a special "patch" from MS. Do any of yours fall into these catagories?
