New review on the FX5900XT-VTD128

Just letting people with this card know that a new review is out on it.
The put it threw it's paces very well and it came out shining for the most part.
If it just was not for the fact that MSI took the temp monitoring out it would be a great card.
Anyway here is the review.

I agree, the only blemish is not having the thermal monitoring.  I give it 9 out of 10..... lol

  • FX5900XT-VTD128 is it 256bit memory buss or 128bit?

I looked and looked for a simple table of technical specs, but haven't had much luck.  I suspect that the FX5900XT-VTD128 memory buss is only 128bit, but haven't found information one way or the other.  Just looking to buy the right FX5900XT.

Thanks Assaf .. I would have felt a little more warm and fuzzy if you had added the words "memory buss" in your response.  Hopefully I can assume that's what you meant.  Please pardon my OCD.

  • Review of the iPhone 3G: Finding Bliss with my new iPhone 3G

    ☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻☻
    10/10 happy faces
I bought the new iPhone 3G a couple of weeks ago (the first Apple product I have owned), and I have to tell you--I LOVE IT! It is sheer "bliss". The phone is sleek and easy to hold. More importantly, it is super easy to use. Everything is activated by touch or a quick flick of your finger. And it's FUN! I've never had a "fun phone" before this.
I would recommend this phone to anyone, especially to those who have problems using the regular phone-style keypad to text. It is also the perfect phone to give to someone who may be "technically challenged" because once you comprehend how it works, it is easy to use.
Here are some of the things I like about the iPhone 3G:
    Usefulness & User Friendly
In the past, my other cell phones have been used for the calendar, once in a blue moon for the game on it, but mostly as a phone--that's it. With my iPhone, I can:
-download my email contact list in Outlook (or others) so that I have all my contacts on my phone
-call friends just by touching their name in my contact list
-activate the speaker by one touch during any call
-access the internet and enlarge parts of any website or turn the iPhone horizontally for easier reading
-send out a Twitter post in seconds
-plan my schedule in the calendar (I actually use this more now)
-use Google Maps to help me navigate and GPS to see exactly where I am and what's around me (makes ordering pizza a breeze)
-download numerous applications, music, videos etc from iTunes, plus from my computer (did that all on day 1)
-take great pictures; it's a camera too--I can view them separately or as a slideshow
-download photos from my laptop or PC to my phone
-get a TV guide app that will show me what's on TV--great for when I'm traveling (only US for now but they promise Canadian compatibility is on the way)
-get a movie app that shows me what movies are on, where and when (even in Canada!)
-gives me a direct link to YouTube so I can watch clips (get the 6G or higher data package!)
-check the weather forecast for the week--anywhere (great for when traveling!)
-check our stocks (not a pretty picture right now!)
-set world clocks (great for traveling!)
-play numerous games that I can download from iTunes (many simulate the Wii experience)
-use as an iPod, complete with headphones and speaker so I can take calls while listening to music (much like having a bluetooth)
-send and receive email (easy to read and to type)
    -easily send text messages*
-type notes and email them to myself so I can save on my PC**
    *Texting
I could text on my last phone, but I hated using the tiny numerical keypad. I'm not a teenager that can rapidly fire off a whole paragraph in mere seconds. It took me forever to type a text message. So I rarely used that function.
With my new iPhone, texting is a breeze--and fun. It is made easy by the use of a simulated keyboard that pops up. Since I'm a writer, using a keyboard is second nature to me. The letters on the iPhone keyboard are quite large and easy to tap. When you tap a letter and hold for a second, the letter pops up enlarged, making it easier to read for those of us who have vision issues. I don't even need my reading glasses for this.
All text conversations are stored so you can flick back over a conversation that may have taken place over weeks. You can read both sides of the conversation in colored balloons. Or you can erase the conversation and start fresh.
    **Notes
The notes application opens to a legal pad (yellow pad with lines). All you have to do is tap on a line to drop the cursor, then use the keyboard to type. With all typing on this phone, you can touch and hold and a magnifying bubble comes up, helping you to see the text more easily. This way you can move the cursor if you need to correct something. With the iPhone's smart technology, it'll offer you suggestions for words that you accept by tapping the space bar.
    Finding Bliss
Two nights ago, I discovered just how much this note app will help me. I write novels--suspense mainly. Because my imagination is so active and is always "on", I am often blasted with an idea for a novel at the least convenient time. Sometimes while I'm driving, sometimes while I'm watching TV. In these cases, I scramble around for paper, write down my thoughts, then end up losing or misplacing the paper if I haven't entered the info on my computer.
Two nights ago this happened. I was watching TV and a commercial came on. It was for Bliss chocolates. First, it made me want chocolate (lol). But the more I looked at the word "Bliss" in its pretty scrolling font, the more I started to picture a young girl--named Bliss.
    Then...BAM!
I was blasted with a story that made me sit up in my chair and reach for my iPhone. I couldn't let this idea or Bliss escape. I had to capture her story right away. So I made some notes. When I was done I had a very brief plot outline. I was extremely happy to see that I could email it to myself, which I did. Then I went on my PC, opened the email and copied the text into a new folder with the title of this new YA novel--Finding Bliss.
The following day I told my husband about my new novel idea and about Bliss and my iPhone note feature. While we sat in the mall, another piece of her story showed itself to me. So out came my iPhone, type-type-type send.
As my husband and I talked, he gave me a terrific idea. *I am going to write Finding Bliss on my iPhone!* A complete novel, using the notes feature. The iPhone will also be featured in my novel; someone will be using it. Marc suggested I contact Apple and let them know what I'm doing and how I'm using the new iPhone 3G. I think that's a great idea. They might get a kick out of the fact that a bestselling Canadian author is using her iPhone to write a novel.
I have already started Chapter 1 of Finding Bliss. My plan is to write it on the iPhone, then edit it on my PC.
As for Bliss chocolates, I bought a bag to celebrate. They're heavenly.
And my new novel? It will be a project of love.
Finding Bliss will be an emotional, heartwarming story of a teenager who must fight to survive a world of abuse, lies and loss. As she struggles to find herself, Bliss will discover exactly where she belongs and she'll learn that she is worthy of love after all.
    ~Cheryl Kaye Tardif,
    bestselling author of Whale Song

Wow, what a great review. But that's expected from a writer. I had an HTC Touch but it had to be rebooted after 20 to 30 minutes of play. It got kinda boring. I cant put this iphone down.
You forgot to add you can do full sentences without abbreviating when texting or emailing. It's that easy!

I have the iPad 2 16GB, bought it in August 2011, I worked perfectly but in mid-August 2012 I took her to the store because the microphone did not work reviewed and changed me, but to my surprise that the new iPad had the problem is disconnected WIFI signal I have to be glued to the router, and I did everything he says is supported by the Apple and all other pages and forums regarding this problem is not solved and always disconnects when connected always disconnects again!! passing will be settled as no longer factory warranty although it has neither the three months I renewed new, please help because the investment has been great and I can not use only as "a mirror" I'm waiting a true solution, thanks ....
    Sincerely,
    Catlos

This does help me because I am pondering on wether to buy an airport extreme to solve my ipad 2 connection woes.  I have an extremely old router dLink 524....but I have NEVER had any problems with it at all ever.  My xbox connected great to it and netflix ran flawless through my xbox.....now I have an ipad2 and an apple tv and they are BOTH having horrible connection problems.  I have read most of the forums on how to fix it by changing the settings on my router but since mine is so old I couldn't do some of the suggested solutions.  So here I am debating on whether to spend all this $ on an airport extreme?  I am just hoping that if I go and purchase this, my connectivity issues problems will go away like yours did.  Just wondering if you have ATV as well and if the AE solved its problems?  I have read about AE solving ipad2 wifi problems, I'm just hoping it will solve my ATV as well.
**Glad they didn't "moderate into extinction" your post yet, lol, Thank

  • No Games CD in my FX5900XT-VTD128?

Just bought a new FX5900XT-VTD128 from NewEgg here in the US.  Got 2 cds with the card: a Drivers/Utils disk and a WinDVD Creator disk.
From the MSI web site, it would appear that 3 full games and 14 trials are missing from the box.
Was I supposed to get another CD or 3?  How would I go about getting these?
    Thanks,
    Michael
    wexler at yahoo dot com

Excellent point, Sonofabob.   Yes, I did get the VIVO version, and I didn't look at the pictures of the includeds.   Instead, I compared the model name to the info on the MSI site, and I didn't think that MSI would list one thing... but Newegg would sell it differently.
To be fair, Buy.com also doesn't mention any games software in its product listing.  But reviews like http://www.bit-tech.net/review/317/3 show stacks of cds, and some stores (like SuperWarehouse, http://www.superwarehouse.com/MSI_FX5900XT_128MB_Video_Card/FX5900XT-VTD128/pi/362395) also imply that the games come with the card (Btw, no connection with superwarehouse, could be a total scam, just happened to pop up in a search)
I guess I don't really need the games...   But if MSI implies that the games come with the card (http://www.msicomputer.com/product/p_spec.asp?model=FX5900XT-VTD128&class=vga)  then I expect to see them.
But yes, the model number on the web site is MS-8937-040, while my box says -070.  Perhaps -070 means "no games"?
Thanks to you all for suggestions and help.

  • FX5900XT-VTD128 Board hangs with Mother board ASUS A7NE8X-E de Luxe and AMD Athlon 3000+

    Hello Folks,
Please, I need your Help !!!
I bought a new FX5900XT-VTD128 Board and I am trying to install it in my new PC and it hangs the PC. It has just frozen it and I can not access neither the Bios or anything else. If I use my old Nvidia 4, everything works fine. My Mother board is a ASUS A7NE8X-E de Luxe and Monitor is a LG Flatron 17" Model: T710SH. The Bios of my PC is the last version liberated by ASUS version 1012 E. My Processor is an AMD Athlon 3000+ DDR 400 - The PC has 1GBDRAM (DDR - 400).
Does anyone have any idea how to solve this problem ?
    Thanks,
    Mario

    Hi Kingfisher,
    Thanks for your help.
But the Video Cards hangs in the Boot moment, before MS Windows XP comes in and the driver begins to act. My concern is a hardware conflict or a incompatibility or even hardware defect.
What kind of troubleshooting is ideal ?
    Regards,
    Mario

  • I just bought a new MacBook Pro.  I managed to transfer everything to the new laptop.  BUT I'm having some real problems--e.g., wg from my older one to the new one.  Both use the same latest version of Snow Leopard.  My new laptop has the newer track pad.

I just bought a new MacBook Pro.  I managed to transfer everything from my older MacBook Pro to the new one.  Both use Snow Leopard, the latest update.
My new one has the newest trackpad, the old one, no.
I'm have big problems using Text Edit on the new laptop--the curser does not go where I want it to go for editing, I cannot get the text to be a clear or as large
as with the older Laptop.  Similarly, I cannot find a way to enlarge the menu bar.  But the text edit is my biggest problem right now.  I have reviewed all the preferences, particularly those in Universal Access, to no avail.
I finally gave up, used dropbox to send the text edit document to my old laptop, and continued with ease.  But this is not the way it should work.  I bought the
new laptop because the old one is showing signs of age.....
Is there something wrong with Text Edit while using the new trackpad?

    Thanks, Sig.
The old computer is a 2.6 Ghz Intel Core 2 Duo
The new one is a 2.3 GHz intel core i7
In going over this, thanks to "tallking it out" with you, I did discover the Text Edit problem.  Because I've still been unable to get the new computer text size (fonts or whatever) to match the old computer, I did not notice that the curser is now different--the line midway down the curser has to be placed on the line I am working upon, otherwise the edits go elsewhere on the page.  Now, with a bit of difficulty, I am able to get Text Edit to work correctly.
If you have any ideas as to why my menu bar and Text Edit type are still so slow, I'd love to have them.
(I went through the process you suggested earlier, re my Trackpad preferences, and found no improvement.)

  • If i cancel an account can I create a new one with the same e-mail address?

I made an account with Game Center and I wanted to use it to get some free apps on the iTunes Store. When I tried to sign in on iTunes (for Windows) it said I had to review my details. I didn't have a credit card so I couldn't complete it and there wasn't any option for no credit card.
I wondered if I could cancel my account and create a new one with the same e-mail address. There was a discussion that you could create a new account on the iTunes Store and have the choice to not have a credit card.
    Any help will help!
    SuperHoops

No, it does not, not if the creation of the Apple ID was completed, which unless you are referring to a different Apple ID I presume it did since you are posting here. And once created, you can't get apps without providing a payment method; setting up for just free apps requires a very specific procedure or a payment method is necessary. Creating an account via Game Center does not work.
If you can create a new email address (Gmail or Yahoo mail will work), take a look here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2534
Read the steps carefully as the order in which you follow them is critical. Note that you can do this only when creating a new Apple ID. You cannot use an existing ID.
You will of course not be able to get anything other than the free apps without entering in some sort of payment method (credit card, prepaid iTunes card, gift certificate, etc.)
    Regards.

  • No "create new review" in Premiere 5.0.3

OK, I have the latest upgrades for all the Adobe programs and Flash too. CS Review works like it is supposed to in Photoshop and Illustrator. The problem is Premiere.
I don't get an option to Create New Review in Premiere. All I get using the orange (not Blue) CS button (or in Window>Extensions>Access CS  Live) is "CS Review>Learn more".
I have tried all the suggestions on the forum.
I have been able to create a Review when directly logged in to Acrobat. I cannot directly upload anything from Premiere. I have to export an F4V or an FLV from Premiere and then go to Acrobat to do an upload. This begs the second question..the more important one at this point:
I have uploaded a 16MB F4V file to my Review and that went fine. Now when I try to upload another movie with a larger frame size which gives me a 66MB F4V file the upload always fails. The 16MB one is almost too small for review. I am still in the testing phase with the whole deal and wanted to see how the Review handled a second movie..I guess I have to put on the end of the first one and was curious if the time codes would match the separate movies. I would prefer to have the 10 movies I have to upload listed separately in the Review and not be appended if that is indeed what would happen.
With terrible upload times and the apparent  inability to handle larger file sizes I am at my wits end. I have spent too many hours trying to get this to work correctly from Premiere, which I think may help the upload problem.
I guess the only other option will be to go back to Vimeo for review...without any interaction and thumbnails in PDF etc.

  • What is your Review of the 928

A User Review on the Nokia Lumia 928.
Got my Nokia 928 a few days ago. First, overall the phone is GREAT and I would recommend it to anyone. IMO it is the Best Windows Phone to date. I will also say that in comparison to the other Operating System’s; Android and iOS, Windows Phone 8 OS is better and faster in my opinion. Of course that is Subjective. Everyone has his or her preference as to the features, apps, size, style, color and specs of a phone that work for them and that’s just fine. My sister likes the iphone 5 and it works just fine for here. My younger brother likes Android ICS and it works fine for him. The point is, I nor anyone else has to convince each person that they should buy a particular Phone. Having said that this is just a review for anyone not sure of Windows Phone 8.
    The Pros and the Cons.
    Pros:
    1.      The Operating System: The Windows Phone 8 OS is
smooth fast and responsive. It runs faster on a lower processor than a newer Android’s faster quad processor. The point is, it doesn’t have to have 4 or more processors to run smoother and faster. Though I have not had it longer the 8 days as of this review I nor the persons I know who have a WP8, have not experienced the lags, bugs and many reboots I have had with Android Phones and Tablets.  I didn’t like the Windows Tiles when I first heard or seen them in pictures, but expect for the plain colors (you eventually get use to them) they work great. The Live Tiles update you on all the info you need on one screen without having to click on a bunch of different apps Mail, Facebook, Weather, Agenda, Calender, Messaging are all updated right on the front screen. You can customize the look, size, color of your Tiles and change them with ease.
    2.      The Camera: This has to be one of the best cameras on a Phone. You will not be disappoint on the pictures it takes in daylight or low light. Nokia is hyping up this Camera and I have to agree. The Camera alone is a good reason to get this phone.
    3.       Call Quality is good: Both calling and receiving. The speaker on it is loud and clear.
    4.      The Display is great with the AMOLED Display. It makes the screen sharp and clear and great even it sunlight. The Size at 4.5 inches is also a nice size, not too big and not too small.
    5.      Xenon Flash: Brighter and better Flash as found on some standalone cameras.
    6.      HD 1080p recording with great noise canceling mics. Also has front Facing 1.2MP camera.
    7.      32 GB internal storage
    8.      4G Network: I haven’t had the chance to fully test it yet, but my pages load super-fast and my downloads are fast as well.
    9.      Battery: Battery usage for a smartphone is Good. It also has wireless charging.
    10.   APPS: There is a lot of criticism with this OS and lack of apps. This area is where people have to put things in the right
prospective. Yes iOS and Android has more Apps than WP8. I have to laugh a little when this argument is brought up. First who downloads that many apps? Second putting thing in the right prospective, iOS and Android is 5years old. Developers have had plenty of time to make apps. Windows Phone is going on 3years old with Window Phone 8 being only 6 months old with over 145,000 to date. Most of the top apps or equivalent is available right now on the WP store, with more being added as the months go buy. The point is, it took both Android and Apple years to get to the app count they have now. Besides most of the apps on those system or useless apps that don’t say on a phone for long yet alone even make it to ones phone. Again my point is most of the main or equivalent apps that people use are either on the store or in development. If Windows Phone 8 sells great(and I think it will) more apps will come faster. Anyway Nokia has a set of apps that make this phone stand out itself, Nokia Music, Nokia City Lens: Nokia Maps, Nokia Drive. There are plenty of other apps that make this a great pick.
    Cons:
    1.      No External Storage. I think Nokia made a mistake here. Even though it has an internal 32 gig storage( 23G usable) they should have made room for external storage. I like having my music, videos and some data on a storage card so I am not tied to a computer or downloading data on a cell or wifi. I almost didn’t get the phone because if this.
    2.      No removable battery. I am a heavy user, both personal and work. I like having a couple of charged batteries to throw in when I just can’t charge.
    3.      Lack of Apps? I put this here because in comparison to the other two OS’s, WP8 does have less apps, however I think I make a good point above as to why this is not a good reason to not buy this Phone.
    4.      No FM Radio: other Nokia Phones have the radio turned on. Though I heard that it can be turned on in a firmware update.
    5.      No Etiquette: My own personal preference; a feature that mutes the phone when you face it down.
    6.      Wish it had a stylus for notes: My own personal preference
    7.      No Swype Keyboard: My own personal preference
    8.      Unless I am wrong, No Video output to TV.
Ok so for what it is worth, this is just an opinion for a user and not a article writer, and Yes I have had both Android and Iphone.

Reviews? (not saying yours is one of em). YELP just announced some big  lawsuits vs groups posting glowing product reviews on their web site.  YELP isn't the only one with that issue On this site Ive seen glowing   post on top of glowing post for a phone that's still in pre order stage  unless you can get one in a store; verbage same review after review,I mention that because I relied on those  reviews to buy the 928 from another site and I'm satisfied those reviews  were pure fiction. Phone hadn't even been out very long, page after page of  glowing reviews
I'm glad its working out for you That phone takes great photos . The rest is all marketing. What apps? Downloaded Mapquest's 4 star rated "voice activated, turn by turn" nav app that adjusts with drivers route. Does none of those things. Got lost 30 miles waiting for it to do so. 2 emails to Maquest "customer service" went unanswered You'll never see a company like Mapquest "marketing" apps that way on Google play or Apple store, no way. Those 170,000 windows store apps are just another page out of the MS "marketing" playbook. Go to a windows mobile forum and look under bugs and defects tab for the 928; page after page of battery life, audio, text, random freezes, update, storage issue for a Lumia phone that owns a 5% share of the total windows mobile market share which stands at bout 3%????? When I had either a nav or music app on I was getting 11% battery drainage rates per 19 minutes. Guess it all depends what you call power user. And I wasn't the only one with that issue.Phone is marketed as 17 hrs continuous usage and 24 standby on one charge. Yeah if you make a few phone calls and take some photos. I returned my 928 2 factory resets, bottomless pit of soft ones and one failed back up later, that phone is all marketing.
PS. Vz's  much awaited flagship 928 windows phone came out in mid may. By mid august "flagship" was selling for free with 2 yr. All marketing. WP8 and I used it for 30 days is one BUGGY platform and that's not an opinion

  • I can no longer leave an app review in the iTunes store

I can no longer leave an app review in the iTunes store.
After I sign in, and want to leave a review I get the following message: "You must own this item to write a Customer Review. In order to write a Customer Review for this item you must have purchased or downloaded it."
I used to be able to write and edit my reviews which I have done! But now I can't anymore even though I have bought and/or downloaded several apps. iTunes won't let me write a review anyway.
    Any help is appreciated.

I have the same problem (for Mac and iPhone apps) and contacted Apple about this.
The English speaking support said it is a known error and that they are working on a solution. The German support however (which I contacted first, unfortunately) gave me a refund of the apps I wrote them as an example. They told me I should buy them again – which is not possible, since the MacAppStore then gives the message "You have already purchased this app..." Ironically, for one of the two apps I was finally able to write a review, even at this point it wasn't listed in the purchased apps list anymore.
I've never asked for a refund, and it's causing me more trouble than I had before: now I cannot update these refunded apps anymore (since they are not listed in the "Purchased" list). So I have to check manually if there is a new update (comparing version numbers) and then delete the app and "purchase" it again. Of course I would simply buy the apps from the developer directly, however, they are MacAppStore only.
When I asked the AppStore support about a solution for this problem, they said it's technically not possible to write reviews for refunded apps (? yes, of course they were not really reading what I wrote them. I guess support at Apple is done by Siri now) and gave 10 free iTunes songs.
I think reviews are very important for both customers and developers and it's not just a minor inconvenience, but a serious problem; what is especially disturbing, is that it's not the same for all apps: for Pixelmator, I had no problems to post a review, for Jumsoft's "Relationship" it doesn't work, for some apps it worked immediately, for some after a few weeks, for some never.

  • How to rate and give review for the product in SharePoint Contoso demo site by the customer/user from publishing site?

    Hi,
I am new to SharePoint, and am working on Contoso demo site.
I want to know where to give star rating and review for the product in SharePoint Contoso demo site. Even after spending enough hours i didn't find solution for this problem. All the answers i got was changing the List/Library settings -> Rating settings,
if i follow that, i get the rating column displayed in my catalog site. How can i bring it on my publishing site and let the customers give rating or review for the product from publishing site. Is there any OOTB feature in sharepoint or it shoul be customized.
    Thanks in advance.
    Akshaya

Are you using the Content Search Web Part?  Just tweaking that once the source library has had the rating column applied should work.  Have you tried this?

     Hi,
One of my ex-colleagues has installed a NI-DAQ 6.5 in our system. [And I do not see any other naitional instruments card in the CPU of the computer, may be he removed it] I deleted the account and all his files in the system. When I am trying to install version8.0, its not getting installed and giving me a message that I should uninstall the previous version by going to Add/Remove programs in the control panel.
I tried doing that, but the "Change/Remove" button does not seem to work...[There is no response and so unable to install the new version...]
Any idea how can this problem be solved?
It is a windowsXP operating system with SP2 installed on a machine with P4 processor.

I have connected the vcr to the video in of the card using the RCA to S-Video connector supplied with the card.  All drivers are installed including the capture drivers.
I can't find a way to capture (even see) the output from my vcr.  Should this be possible and if so how?
There does not seem to be any tv tuning capability so how does the card know where to look for the signle?  Or am I missing something in the driver install and should have a tv turner device?

You are confusing RF-in (or aerial input) with video-in (or TV-in).  Cards with an inbuilt TV tuner, which your card lacks, have an RF-in socket into which one usually connects an aerial; and with the appropriate software one can search the RF spectrum for a TV station's broadcast frequency in the same way a radio is tuned to a particular radio station.  The Video-in socket takes a different kind of signal and gets it direct from a video device.  There is no tuning.
Get some video capture software. AmCap is pretty basic.  Once installed select S-Video input from Options -> Crossbar, then select Options -> Preview and you should be getting a picture.

  • FX5900XT-VTD128 capture problem

    Hi,
I read the many posts about capture problems but did not recognise my issues.
I just got FX5900XT-VTD128 and I am trying to get it to capture with WinDVD creator (bundled). WinDVD would start but then it would hang without listing any capture device.
I installed the latest WDM drivers from the nVidia site (2.20_wdm-vivo.exe)
Device manager list the following devices under sound, video and game controllers:
     - nVidia WDM A/V Crossbar (12-2-2003)
     - nVidia WDM Video Capture (universal)  (12-2-2003)
The multimedia tab in control panel show the following under "devices"
under "Video Capture device" -->  -Microsoft WDM Capture
After reading the posts, I suspected a WDM driver problem so I did the following:
1- removed both nVidia WDM devices from device manager
2- removed Microsoft WDM Capture from multimedia devices
3- removed nVidia WDM drivers with Driver Cleaner
I rebooted and confirmed that no nVidia WDM devices were present in Device manager and that no WDM capture device were present under multimedia capture devices.
I re-installed nVidia WDM driver 2.20 and rebooted. Windows plug and play recognised both nVidia WDM devices and installed drivers for it.
When I checked, both Device manager and Multimedia capture device were back as they were before the driver re-install yet WinDVD still hang when I click "capture" (Window is still alive, I can kill WinDVD manualy but I would then not be able to restart it without first rebooting).
I tried Flycap and VirtualVCR with no better result, they hang.
I am using Win98 SE on a Gygabyte  GA-7N400-l motherboard with AMD Sempron 2400+ CPU and 512MB RAM. I have no other card in the PC.
I am using nVidia driver 66.94 from the file: "66.94_win9x_english.exe"
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
