New Rows in WAD with Free text characteristic

I have created an input ready query and one of the characteristic (based on InfoObject 0POSTXT) created is to enter a free text for the given row. In row selection there are also few more characteristics with master data already created.
If I use BEx I am in position to enter free text and choose relevant master data for remaining characteristic and plan for my key figures, Works perfectly fine.
I have now created a new WAD template assigning the input ready query and when I execute the same I am not in position to enter the free text for my text characteristic. In WAD Application I am forced to choose the value from the available F4 help otherwise I get the invalid value error. So BEx works fine but not the WAD.
Any ideas what piece of configuration I am missing? Any help is highly appreciated. I have already selected Key (in value Display), in access type of value selection I tried all options with no luck.

Hello Sachin,
enter values for characteristics without master data table is only possible in BEx Analyzer.
Also in BI Planning Functions one can create values for characteristics without master data table.
For the BEx Web Analyzer this is not implemented; this feature is on the list of possible further developments. It not yet clear whether and when features from the this list will be developed.

Have you tried the developer's support web site? Withut you providing the name of the app makes it very hard for us to give specific recommendations. The only one that i can thin of is to purchase the app using a diffeent iTunes account.

RESULTS RECORDING WITH FREE TEXT IN QUALITY MANAGEMENT

How can I give free text of 300 chars In results recording? For a process order with batch number & recipe, (in which master inspection characteristics are mentioned which are linked to general characteristics.)
I created characteristics (type CHAR)(which can be used as free text in results recording ) I have created class, assigned chars to class & finally to material. Also assigned MIC to this class chars.
When I do results recording I need to have these characteristics to be display as free text of 30character width. But since I have to give selected set for this general chars.(which is the system requirement) I have given selected set while creation of characteristics.
Due to this I can only select the codes from the selected set. Is there any process in which I can write free text up to 30 cars during results recording in quality module? & those characteristics I want to assign to MIC so that when process order is executed the first operation of quality can be done for RR.

All of first let me make it clear, if you will assign a Class Characteristic to the MIC, then it will become either Qualitative or QNT.
Now toeards your questions solution.
Option:-1
As suggested by Venkatr, make the control indicator "Docu. Req" in the MIC control indicator set, page:-2. for the line item of MIC in the insepction plan.
So, the system will prompt you a message to insert a text as described by Venkat, where you can enter the Long text also (Check the button available in the lower part of that small window)
Option:-2
Create a document type for this purpose, and assign a file, having 300 char. to the MIC, with the help of the "Object Link" function of SAP, avaialble with RR screen also.

How to append new row in rowset with parameter?

In the data input page in prerender method I have this code to filter rowset with non existing id in the table to show empty table on the page:

Rui's answer will create copies of the entire table. There may be times where thsi is what you want, but you asked about creating new rows. If your new row is a copy of one of your existing rows, then you could use
_RowName.addInstance(1);
(the underscore at the beginning invokes the instance manager). Is this what you're looking for?

I don't want a new row for each line of text

I have exported a pdf document which is a table full of text in columns (by month). The conversion seems to react randomly so that in some places several lines of text in a column are converted to just one cell (great, just what I want) and then in others, a block of text gets split into a row for each line of text --- very annoying ...
What would make this happen? Is there a workaround so that you can tell the conversion how to react to blocks of text?

For optimal export the PDF needs to be a well-formed tagged PDF.
The basic PDF page content has no format, styling, rows, columns, etc.
Just objects painted to the PDF page at a specified location.
You can return to the authoring file, clean that up to support accessible PDF output, then post process the PDF with Acrobat XI Pro to finalize making the PDF PDF/UA compliant. Export of that would be better.
You can manually tag the PDF such that it is PDF/UA compliant than export from that . This would provide you better export.
You can clean up the export you already have.

JTable rows gets white with invisible text

I m using a JTable with custom colorRender....(part of the implementation given below)....Sometime all row's text becomes invisible but if you copy this text and paste it into MS-Excel it will successfully copy to excel cells. Furthermore when this problem occurs Java Clinet Console also become distorted and nothing is displayed over there

What I was pointing you is that the tutorial and also API explains tha the JTable uses only a single renderer instance, at the first level rendering table data, to render all cells of the table.

Table row height expansion with rotated text

I am using InDesign CS 4 on a Windows XP Home Edition computer. I am transcribing Gregorian chant using an opentype chant font (http://www.marello.org/projects/caeciliae). I have set up a table which is rotated 90 degrees counter clockwise so that the text and music notation appear in separate columns with each syllable of the chant having its own row. The text and music are rotated 90 degrees clockwise by cell style so that they appear normally on the page.
Everything I have described so well has worked out very well. One inconvenient thing, however, is that when the text is rotated in the way I describe the rows do not automatically expand, even though I have them set to a minimum height lower than the actual height. When I have the text un-rotated, the rows do automatically expand. Can anyone tell me if I am doing something wrong?

You'll probably want to use a different font and a more reasonable size for the text container.

Null pointer exception while inserting a new row in ADF with jdev

In ADF, I have retrieved some user information from LDAP server and I want to insert those values in to my table. But when I do this, I am getting a null pointer exception when I get the view object (ViewObject vo=getCRUIP002_1();). I am not sure why this happens.
Here is my code. It is urgent.

assuming ur jdev version is 10.1.2
ViewObject vo=getCRUIP002_1();i dont think ur getting the view object hence null pointer expception.
ViewObject vo = findViewObject("MyView1");
if u r in the object class then first get the root application module and then access the View obejct from there.
In ADF if u assign a null value, u will always get the null pointer exception coz of java. Run the app in debug mode and check the values step by step, by the way there is not exception handling in ur code either, Do u know how to debug in Jdev ?

Restrict values of characteristic in input-ready new rows query

Hello all
We are creating an input-ready new rows query. So we added characteristic as row.
We need the values in F4 (while choosing value in this row) are to be restricted by hierarchy (or just restricted by some algorithm - list of values). But if we choose "hierarchy" for that characteristic, it will also appear in rows, so not one posted value will appear, but full hierarchy for this value. How to make F4 for choosing restricted values of any characteristic.
Reason: we have different account plans for different years and don't want users to choose "old" positions.

Try to use next variants:
1) Authorization
restrict you characteristic in RSECADMIN
2) COMPAUND
You can add compaund characteristic to you main characteristic, and if you restrict this compaund characteristic in filter, then in query you'll see only appropriate values
3) FILTER
You can restrict not only fixed values, but you can use prequery for you characteristic. For example make DSO in which will be calmonth and account in key. And make query to take accounts for calmonth. After that in you main query restrict you account through variables with replace path type (set query for accunts for month).
4) Relation in RSPLAN
Create DSO(as in case 3) and try to use relation for you realtime cube in RSPLAN.

ICWEB new free text field CRMD_ORDERADM_I.

I got a problem. I have used the EEWB to create a new field in table CRMD_ORDERADM_I. I would like the field to be editable in order to enter free text until 120 characters. (Note that the field is located within the contract)
Does anybody know how could I make the new field editable for entering free text?

Hello,
In the EEWB, add this new attribute with the type a string or character. Then use the configuarion tool of the view in the Contract component, so that the field is available in the UI.
Once this field is available in the UI, generate the getter setter methods of the field. In the GET_I method of the attribute, check what is returned in the code
current->is_property_readonly('Attribute Name' ). If this returns false, that means this attribute is editable from the API layer.
If the returned value is true, then you have to redefine this method, and make the field editable.
You would have to implement the logic of persisting the value entered to the DB, depeding on ur business logic.

Are free-text attributes not possible? Why?

I'm pretty new to MDM, just learning really. I've done some complicated imports, in cluding hierarchies and taxonomies.
At my company we have product records that contain product specs. There are about 200 different specs that different products CAN have, but any particular product only may need about 20, depending on it's product type. A perfect situation for a taxonomy with attributes, right?
It would be, but although many specs have particular pre-defined choices (like attribute choices) , many are free-text fields where the user enters information that can't be boiled into pre-set choices.
After playing with it in MDM for a while, it becomes clear that you can't have taxonomy attributes in MDM that are free text. That seems kind of silly to me... am I missing something? Is there a way to do this? If not, why not? It seems like a useful feature. I can't be the first person to think of this.....
Any help, explanations, or ideas for alternate methods would be very greatly appreciated...

You aren't missing anything. Attributes can only be numeric (or couple numeric) or text. The text attributes are only available as lookups and cannot be set up as free-form text entries. Fields can be set up as free-form text, but have to be applied at a global level to everything.
The only reason I can think as to why it has been developed this way is because of the search capabilities built into MDM. It would probably be difficult to have the parametric searching with free-text attributes, much easier when all the data is in a lookup. Another reason is just to help maintain standards within your repository. You could enter a message with SAP to find out all the reasons why it is this way and possibly enter an enhancement request for future versions.
Basically the only way around this currently is to use the text attribute available. You could allow the users to right click on the attribute in Record Mode and select Modify to add entries to the attribute as needed.
This obviously doesn't solve your problem, but hopefully helps clear it up a bit.

NOOB: Simple button to insert a new row...

I have a two column database table.
It is displayed on an interactive report in two columns.
I want to create a new row via button with the values of "new" "new" in the two fields.
I was thinking this should be pretty simple however have not found the right example online to how to achieve this.

Normally you would add a "New" button to the IA report and redirect to a form page in which you can add a new record.
So steps are :
1. Create a form on this table so you can add and edit records on this table
2. Create a "New" button on your IA report which redirects to this page.

Free text workflow

Hello all,
Standard workflow for the free text (describe requirement) is that shopping cart is going to the purchaser and than to requestor manager to approval.
Is it possible to reverse that? I would like that such shopping cart is going to manager as first and that to purchaser.

This is my understanding for standard completion workflow. WS14000044.
1. Employee create a SC with free text item
2. Completion workflow starts, Purchaser updates the item
3. Employee accept the changes
If you do not need completion workflow, you can just use 2step approval and assign purchaser(ASBPURLIST) to 2nd approver. WS10000031.
or
If you need 2 steps completion workflow, copy the WS14000044 and add 2nd task.
Assign ASBMANAGER to 1st task and ASBPURLIST to 2nd task.
