NEW SAFARI UPDATE IN WINDOWS 7 Crashes

In the most recent UPDATE OF SAFARI in MS Windows 7  I got the following message as Safari failed to load:
Invalid Parameter. Safari Closing.  I returned to original setup via Windows Restore.  And it worked again.  But I am afraid to upgrade again.
What was the issue? Or have you fixed it?

I am really wondering why there is no safari update for 2013 and 2014!?

Why?  Because worms are flying and we all smell of elderberries.
Seriously... Nobody here knows why.  We don't work for Apple therefore we would have no clue as to the official reason why Apple stopped developing / supporting it.

Hi mcclausky, you may need to manually remove a policy setting from the registry. You also should scan for malware that might have created this problem.

To check your Windows registry for policy settings that might affect Firefox or other programs, I suggest consulting a Windows forum or Microsoft's forums. For example:

How do I manually transfer music with the new itunes update for Windows?  I don't want to sync my library and lose all of my music for what I have in my current library.

The same way it was done in every previous version.
Connect the device to the computer.
Right click on the device in iTunes and select Transfer Purchases.
Why would you lose any content by syncing with iTunes?
Is this not the computer that the device is normally synced with?

  • Getting Startup Disk Full message since downloading new Safari update

I downloaded the new Safari update a few days ago… it took ages to do and whenever I now try to use Safari I get the Pinwheel of Death after about two minutes and then a message telling me my startup disk is full. It won't let me acknowledge the message or force-quit from Safari – I have to switch off at the button and restart.
All I have on my MacBook are 15 Word documents and the Applications it shipped with (in fact I’ve actually dumped some in an attempt to clear space, as ell as dumping the cache folders)… I only use it to surf the net in the evenings and have no music or pictures on it.
I'm not having this problem at all when using Firefox. Is it possible the update has a bug?

You really need a bit more space than that, but try a bit of maintanance:
Repairing permissions is important, and should always be carried out both before and after any software installation or update.
Go to Disk Utility (this is in your Utilities Folder in your Application folder) and click on the icon of your hard disk (not the one with all the numbers).
In First Aid, click on Repair Permissions.
This only takes a minute or two in Tiger, but much longer in Leopard.

    and here:

An article on troubleshooting Permissions can be found here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2963
By the way, you can ignore any messages about SUID or ACL file permissions, as explained here:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1448?viewlocale=en_US
If you were having any serious problems with your Mac you might as well complete the exercise by repairing your hard disk as well. You cannot do this from the same start-up disk. Reboot from your install disk (holding down the C key). Once it opens, select your language, and then go to Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. Select your hard disk as before and click Repair.
Once that is complete reboot again from your usual start-up disk.

HI and Welcome to Apple Discussions...
Sounds like you may have a third party Safari plugin or add on that isn't compatible with the update.
Go here for trouble shooting 3rd party plugins or input managers which might be causing the problem. Safari: Add-ons may cause Safari to unexpectedly quit or have performance issues

  • New Safari update won't quit

After installing the latest Safari update, the application refuses to quit when I try to logout. I have to go back to Safari and quit the program. Is this a common issue? Or am I doing something wrong?

Hello and welcome to Apple Discussions...
You need to update your system software, not just Safari.
Click your Apple menu (top left corner of your screen) scroll down and click "Software Update...*
When the updates are installed, repair disk permissions.
Launch Disk Utility. (Applications/Utilities) Select MacintoshHD in the panel on the left, select the FirstAid tab. Click: Repair Disk Permissions. When it's finished from the Menu Bar, Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac. If you see a long list of "messages" in the permissions window, it's ok. That can be ignored. As long as you see, "Permissions Repair Complete" when it's finished... you're done. Quit Disk Utility and restart your Mac.

  • New Safari Update Causes Multiple Posts. SLOW

Do Apple programmers/software engineers monitor this forum? If so- ❈❈❈ HELP ❈❈❈. Please fix this ASAP.
June 9 (7), 2010 Safari Update Problems- Slower, Multiple Posting
    I have Mac OS X, Version 10.6.3. 2.66 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo, Memory 4 GB 1067 MHz DDR3.
This is the first problem I’ve noticed w/ a software update.
On June 9, 2010 I downloaded a safari update that was an automatic software update. This was probably the “Safari 5.0” update, dated June 7, 2010, but I’m not 100% sure. I downloaded it the same day I got it & I have software updates scheduled to look every day for updates.
This update changed the menu bar to blue when loading a new address. Previously the menu bar was white & showed a grey band at the end of it that said “loading” when loading a new address. Now the grey band is absent.
The new improvement is horrible. On a site I post & reply to posts on, It is slower in moving around a site & loading a page than before the update. I don’t care about the blue band. While the previous grey band showed immediately when it began loading, the new blue expanding bar on the address doesn’t immediately change when loading.
When posting or replying, when pressing the “post” button it takes longer to respond than before. Now that the grey band that said “loading” isn’t present one isn’t sure if it took the command. If the “post” button is pressed more than once it now posts as many times as the button is pressed. Then extra posts have to be deleted, but w/ replies this isn’t possible. This is a awful feature. The previous address function was much more preferable.
Before this update, when posting, even if the “post” button was pressed multiple times, it would only post once whether an original blog/post or reply. On some sites it seems to work OK.
If Apple technicians monitor this site, please provide a correction for this asap. The improvements are awful.
    The correction should have:
    1) Replace the grey band that said “loading” even if the blue band remains.
    2) Make pressing the “post button” multiple times only post once- like before.
    3) Return the speed it previously moved around a site & posted. Removing the blue band is OK. I don't care about this.
❈❈❈ Can I safely remove all the Safari updates that were added on June 9, 2010 when I added this update to the trash bin? Will this return Safari safely to the previous settings? I’ve found in finder where it expands to show the exact updates that were added on June 9, 2010.
Could just selected ones be removed to accomplish what I want? Any suggestions?

If you want to report this issue to Apple's engineering, send a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, join the Mac Developer Program—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. The nice thing with this procedure is that you get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering.
Alternatively, send Feedback, but that usually goes through support and marketing, although when it'll get to engineering is anyone's guess.
Finally, there's the Safari toolbar Report Bug tool.

  • New safari update

Safari updated last night, Now I am having a problem with my keychain. It keep saying that there is no keychain for safari. When I go into keychain and enter my password it says its incorrect (even though it is) and wants me to reset it, so I did, and still nothing. This mac it only 6 months old and shouldn't be having these problems yet. My wifes mac did the same thing and after spending hundreds of dollars it is now a $1500 paperweight.

First off...have you tired rebooting the computer?

  • IMac crashing with new safari update

my imac (i7 16 gig ram 18months old) crashers just after a startup and a message says to push any key as your system crashed all I have done is update safari how do I boot and do a check like we used to be able when the os came on a disk

Please read this whole message before doing anything.
This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, by a font conflict, or by corruption of the file system or of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards, if applicable. Start up in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. You must hold down the shift key twice: once when you turn on the computer, and again when you log in.
Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the startup volume is a Fusion Drive or a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to start up and run than normal, with limited graphics performance, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain models. The next normal startup may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually login automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin.
Test while in safe mode. Same problem?
After testing, restart as usual (not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

  • New safari update (5.1.2) for windows does not load any webpage. i can open safari but nothing happens.

    why wont it load?

    Try this:
Bring up the Windows Task Manager.
Look for a process called: "WebKit2WebProcess.exe" and there may be a *32 after the name.
Now Look for a "Safari" process, there may be multiple instances, but the primary instance will be identified by the significantly more memory that it uses.
    Kill both processes.
The Kill order may be important.
If the WebKit process is running alone kill that first, and try to relaunch Safari.
If a Safari process(s) is running, Kill the primary instance, The WebKit process should also go away but if not Kill WebKit too.
It may take more that one launch attempt to clear the memory.
Further,, you will likely have to do this at each Safari launch because these processes become unstable after short use - until Apple fixes this bug.

Ps: I have no issues what so ever on Lion, just Windows 7

  • Safari update became complete crash

Hi, last night i updated to Safari 3.2 using the software update tool, i rebooted my mac and everything seemed to be ok..
Today, my system is almost unusable, safari doesn't work, adium doesn't work, msn doesn't work, dashboard doesn't work, it just keep showing the "the application has has closed" message, i can't even open a window in the finder!!
I already reinstalled adium and msn, nothing happened, i can't reinstall safari 'cause the installer doesn't work, can anybody help me?
    Thanks.

Thank you very much, but it didn't work, i don't have PithHelmet or any other 3rd party plugins, i already ran DU and repair permissions, the HD seems to be ok.
    Safe boot didn't help.
I created 2 new users, adium is working in both, but still not in the first one, safari and the other apps are still failing, even the software update app is failing.
Do i have any other option?, thanks again.
Not at the moment. Being a bit, prudent, I always wait before installing a new update so I don't have the latest Safari installed yet.
However, there is a Safari forum where you might find more information about this update:
    http://discussions.apple.com/forum.jspa?forumID=876
When the update came out I checked there first and decided to postpone the update on my computers for the time being.

  • The new Safari update

So I am running a dual boot and this weekend I ran updates on both sides. While I am on my mac side of the partition, I noticed my cpu heats up drastically while I am on safari. Is this due to the web-toolkit safari is using or because of my windows updates on drivers?
One thing I noticed is that when I use chrome instead of safari, the laptop becomes a lot cooler.
    Thanks.

Try troubleshooting Safari extensions and third party plugins to see if it makes a difference in operating temperatures.
From the Safari menu bar click Safari > Preferences then select the Extensions tab. Turn that OFF, quit and relaunch Safari to test. If that helped, turn one extension on then quit and relaunch Safari to test until you find the incompatible extension then click uninstall.
If it's not an extensions issue, try troubleshooting third party plug-ins.
Back to Safari > Preferences. This time select the Security tab. Deselect:  Allow plug-ins. Quit and relaunch Safari to test.
If that made a difference, instructions for troubleshooting plugins here.
