• Problem Opening Oracle Developer Days.ovf file

Hi,
I'm having problem to download file "Oracle Developer Days.ovf" for Oracle Developer day "Pre-Workshop Setup Instructions: Hands-on Database Application Development". When I click the link it display the contents of file in new window.
I tried to copy and paste the contents in file and named it "Oracle Developer Days.ovf". When I open the file to import in Oracle VM box I get following error:
Failed to import appliance c:\Oracle Developer Days.ovf.
Start tag expected, '<' not found
Location:
'c:\Oracle Developer Days.ovf',
line 2 (0), column 1.

Instead of clicking on the link, right click and "Save as"

• Oracle Developer Days - Does not start VM because of two errors

Downloaded the Oracle Developer days and the VM fine and was able to import the file successfully. Everything appears to be good until the VM boots. I get the following two errors where it hangs and will not boot anymore.
"Memory for crash kernal (0x0 to 0x0) notwithin permissible range"
"Warning calibrate_APIC_clock: the APIC timer calibration may be wrong."
I have read that this should not cause the guest OS to stop, however at this point it will do nothing more.
The host OS is
Windows 7 Pro 64 bit
12GB of RAM
AMD Phenom II x4 B97 processor.
How do I solve this issue?
Thank you.

I am having the exact same issue except that it already stops booting after the first message. Same happens for a different VM from OTN (Enterprise Java VM).
My host is Windows 7 Pro 64, 16 GB RAM, AMD Phenom II x4 810 (so pretty similar to above).
How to solve this?
Thanks

• Trying to register for Virtual Developer Day

Hello
I'm trying to register for Virtual Developer Day in the European time zone but I'cant figure out how to change the timezone....
Clicking on "view your local time" has no effect and clicking on "register online" gives a time out error.
I've tried with Chrome 10, Explorer 7 and Firefox 3.6 but with no luck.
Am I missing something or is the web site broken ?
Regards
Paul

View your local time has now been fixed but it simply displays the times
for the event on May 3rd.
I still can't figure out how to switch to the event for May 10th for Europe or are we supposed to register once
and we register for all of the events....
Regards
Paul

Hi friends,
i have installed oracle db using Oracle Developer Day.ova for practicing on my lappie.
I want to connect to that DB which is inside oracle vm virtual box manager using PUTTY ( which is on my desktop). I dont want to use the in-built workspace or Terminal(whatever is its name).
Can you guys please suggest what should i do so that i can login to the DB using the PUTTY only (i love it )? i am not able to login to the host "localhost" using the putty.
Few years back when i had installed vmware(linux installed in it and db installed on linux) i could connect through putty.
I am using below entry in the hosts file.
# localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
127.0.0.1 localhost
#    ::1             localhost
'localhost' and its ip address of 127.0.0.1 are non-routeable. Any request to send a network message to localhost will never leave the machine from which the request originates. And for all intents and purposes, your virtual machine is a different machine.

I have a 2010 Macbook Pro and am a very new user to Mac community only started to use this PC a few weeks ago.
My Mac is just hanging and I am unable to shut it down or do anything at all. I left it for 2.5 days hoping the battery will run flat but it is not working. Pls help! I am desperate. Tx

In order to resolve the issue if it occurs again, more info would be helpful as to what occurred prior to the "hang." One potential fix would be to try a Safe Boot:
After the Mac is completely shut down, push the power button and immediately after the startup tone, hold down the Shift key. The Shift key should be held as soon as possible after the startup tone but not before.
Release the Shift key when you see the gray Apple icon and the progress indicator (looks like a spinning gear).
There should be a message that says "SafeBoot." After the Mac is completely booted, try restarting and see if the issue is gone.

• Oracle Developer Day Jdeveloper 10g early access not work

Oracle Developer Day Workshop Materials
Creating Persistence Services Using Toplink and POJOs
I use Jdeveloper 10 ea :
To create a new workspace with a new project for the model
Application Name EmployeeRequisitionApplication
Directory Name <JDEV_HOME>/mywork/EmployeeRequisitionApplication
Application Package Prefix objectmodel
Application Template No Template [All Technologies]
rename Project1 to Lab1_PersistenceServices
Set project properties
Click the Technology Scope node: Select TopLink in the Available Technologies and click the shuttle button to move to Selected Technologies.
see the following in the Applications Navigator:
--EmployeeRequisitionApplication
----Lab1_PersistenceServices
not like that :
--EmployeeRequisitionApplication
----Lab1_PersistenceServices
---toplink
---toplink mappings
I use Jdeveloper 1012 , Applications Navigator like :
--EmployeeRequisitionApplication
----Lab1_PersistenceServices
---toplink
---toplink mappings
why Jdeveloper 10g ea not work?

I'm not able to reproduce it exactly. It seems to depend on either what I was doing beforehand or what I have open at the same time.
I was able to make it happen on demand awhile ago, but I've closed and restarted the environment since then.
The best I can remember, I had been going up the dialog, starting at the bottom. I was looking for where to enter the location of SQL*Plus. I didn't expect to see it in accelerators, but I was just curious what was in there when...boom. I might have finished one pass thru most of the tree, then started on a second pass when I encountered the problem. Best guess at this point on how to reproduce would be to simulate a user persistently looking for a setting and just not stopping until he found it.

• NY NY - Java at Oracle Developer Day

Just got back from “Oracle Technology Network (OTN) Developer Day, Java at Oracle Developer Day” in NY, NY yesterday. I have to say, I was impressed with Oracle’s direction of and for Java, as they expressed their commitment to it.
They clarified their commitment to the Open Source community, as well as promising that such things as ‘Closures’ and an increased usage of Annotations (among other things that many have been clamoring about, but that I personally don’t care for) will soon be realities.
They made their intentions clear about keeping Java mainstream, making cooperative efforts with vendors and open source, as well as, well … just putting $$$ into development and marketing, and in building strong partnerships. They also stated their intention for strengthening the JVM for “other languages” that run on it.
They also deftly demonstrated RAD using Netbeans – the demos for the new Glassfish/Netbeans were good – and I’m not an IDE kind of guy. Eclipse was also spoken of with a high degree of respect, which also aided in making me feel that Oracle is serious about being cooperative to the extent good business sense will dictate – no I’m not as naïve a fellow as I might at times sound.
Anyone else here there yesterday? Regards,
~Bill

Yes, this will come with this release of this, and that will come with this release of something else, etc. Actually they did a lot of layout of release plans, but I don't recall the details. Soon for most of it; with time lines of mostly not exceeding the end of 2011 IIRC.Did they provide any sites that might be useful for tracking this sort of info?

• Connecting to oracle DB in Oracle developer day OVA image.

Hello,
i downloaded the Oracle developer day image and the corresponding software. Started the VM. everything seems fine.
However i am not able to connect. Also, the requried oracle credentials are no where provided. I think as per standards, it should be scott/tiger. but what is the database name ?

See Re: Developer Days VM - Logins for Schemas
The SID name is orcl, and all passwords are "oracle" unless otherwise indicated - this is documented in the first line of the terminal session that opens when you start up the VM and log in as oracle/oracle.
BTW, as indicated on the VM download page, Developer Day - Hands-on Database Application Development</title><meta name="Title" content="Dev…

• Oracle developer day - problem downloading .ova file (on a mac)

I downloaded the Oracle VM virtual Box (for mac) just fine, but I'm having a problem with the "Oracle Developer Day.ova". When I try to download, I am shown a file with format problems. It looks like an initial agreement and but is not correctly formatted, it has black boxed question marks inserted oddly and html is visible. There is no option or way to save the file or agree to terms to proceed. (File path is: dowload.oracle.com/otn/other/virtualbox/dd/Oracle_Developer_Day.ova?AuthParam=[big number here]). It seems that perhaps I have a browser issue. I'm using Safari Version 6.0.4 on a mac. Is there a way that I can ftp the file using mac unix?

• Scripts for OTN Developer Day - Big Data

Hi,
I was wondering if anybody knows where to find the scripts used for "OTN Developer Day - Big Data" which was held during February/March 2014?
The "Lab Guide" can be found in: https://www.oracle.com/webfolder/s/delivery_production/docs/FY14h1/BigDataWorkshop.pdf
Regards,
Babak.

Not sure if these are the exact same ones, but it should be very close: Oracle Big Data Lite Virtual Machine
It will also get you to the page where the VM is frequently updated and the HOL sections come with the updated VM.
