New script dialog box only displays momentarily

FM10 in TCS3 on Windows XP
My coworker and I decided to investigate Extendscript and when we select File>Scripting>New from the main toolbar, the New Script dialog box flashes momentarily and then disappears. However, selecting Run displays the Choose Script dialog box, and selecting Catalog displays the Script Library.
We have the latest patches and have installed DITA-FMx, FrameSLT, and SDLAuthorAssistant in FM.  Could any of those be affecting the scripting function?
Thanks in advance.

Using TechCommSuite 3.0 on Windows XP.
I always like to close loops and this posting is no exception.
After almost two weeks of diligent sleuthing by Adobe techs and our own security personnel, we determined that the problem of ExtendScript not launching was an in-house problem.
We have a DLP application that interfaces with our desktops for security purposes.  We needed to identify the ExtendScript.exe that was running in order to allow it to function.  Our security guy performed some wizardry and voila!  I had my ExtendScript window.

  • FF 7.0.1 on Mac OSX 10.6.8: I sometimes get the "unresponsive script" dialog box in the top left corner of the screen, so far out that I can see only the bottom right corner of the dialog box. Is there any way of re-centring it?

    FF 7.0.1 on MacOSX 10.6.8 (not this machine!): I sometimes get the "unresponsive script" dialog box jammed into the top left corner of the screen so that only a quarter of it is visible.
    Is there a way of re-centring the dialog box (in particular, when its top edge is off the screen)?
    Thanks!

    There is no way to preserve view preferences.Just remember or annotate the zoom % used in the package.
    You may want to open an MS Connect item asking to add such a feature.
    I can tell you it may not be implemented because a package may be opened on different size monitors.

  • Modeless Dialog Box Not Displaying Contents

    I have created a simple modeless dialog box. Although the dialog box and title appear, the contents (a label) do not appear. The dialog box does display correctly if the dialog box is switched to a modal box.
    I got into this problem because I also cannot get labels to change after their initial display on the main frame. I've tried repaint() and Thread.sleep().
    Please help me, I am a newbie to Java.
    Sincerely,
    John

    I actually had a similar problem with a JDialog containing only a progress bar, which ended up being a problem with Swing rather than my code (the bug report has already been filed). Adding a second component to the dialog fixed the problem, counterintuitive as that seems. Try it and see if that helps... If the label is a JLabel, you might try calling revalidate() on it to get the text to update.

  • How to handle the button "cancel" in a dialog box for displaying views?

    Hello!
    I ve a question about handling the cancel button in a dialog box for displaying views.
    I ve already implemented the dialog box by using the following code:
    METHOD eh_onnewqact.
      DATA stitle TYPE string.
      IF m_popup IS BOUND.
        stitle = cl_bsp_runtime=>get_otr_text( alias = 'ZCC_ICRM/NEW_TASK' )."cl_wd_utilities=>get_otr_text_by_alias( 'ZCC_ICRM/NEW_TASK' ).
        m_popup = comp_controller->window_manager->create_popup(
          iv_interface_view_name = 'ZCC_POPUP_NEWBT/NewQActWindow'
          iv_usage_name = 'CUNewQAct'
          iv_title = stitle
        CALL METHOD m_popup->set_on_close_event
          EXPORTING
            iv_view       = me
            iv_event_name = 'NEWQACT_POPUP_CLOSED'.
      ENDIF.
      m_popup->open( ).
    ENDMETHOD.
    My dialog box consists two buttons - cancel and create.
    The cancel buttons should close the popup and the create button should create an entity of a specified object. but let us come to the cancel button. I did´nt find any information about implementing an cancel button. So, how should I implement it? I thougt
    me->close( ). But that didnt works!
    Could u give me further information about that, because my cancel event-handler is empty?
    method EH_ONCANCEL_QACT.
    endmethod.
    After that I would know how my calling view could know that the user pushes the Create Button and how the data of 2 inputfields of the dialog box finds their way to the calling view in order to process this data there?
    Thank you very much!

    Hi Michael,
    thank you for your advice! This problem is solved...
    ...but I have another issue. Ive implemented 2 editable fields in my popup. The user should fill that fields with context and that context should be processed in the calling view of my popup.
    My question is how to transfer these information from my popup to my calling view or method?
    I tried the following...
          lv_context_node ?= m_popup->get_context_node( 'QUICKACT' ).
          IF lv_context_node IS NOT INITIAL.
            lv_text = lv_context_node->get_date( attribute_path = '' ).
          ENDIF.
    But it doesnt work! The context node object is always empty/initial.
    Thank you!
    PS: Another possibility could be that the object / node of the calling view is transferred to the pop-up in order to process it there.

  • Long ago we were able to drag a larger new bookmark dialog box & I'm wondering if we'll ever be able to do that again?

    The "NEW bookmark" dialog box is stupid small & difficult to navigate. Once we could drag it bigger, but not any more.
    Can we have that capability again, & could FFox remember the size during subsequent reboots?
    Keep up the good work!

  • No New/templates dialog box?

    I have a new copy of DWCS4. When I open it, the New/Templates dialog box is blank...or better said just a white rectangle. Adobe support implies that I should reinstall....anything else?
    Thanks!!

    Hi
    I spent quite some time on thoroughly uninstalling, cleaning (with succesful log) en new installing Premiere Pro CC
    unfortunately the result was the same: no window showed up for keyboard shortcuts.
    I tried it before syncing to the cloud
    In other applications (Prelude,Audition,media encoder) this works ok.
    I was a bit lost here.
    What I then did was open a project I was working on from a travel-SSD (I use Sata cradles on both ends) on the other computer system, edited my keyboard shortcus en synced my settings up to the cloud.
    After that I took the project to the problem computer, opened it and immediatly synced my settings down from the cloud.
    After that the shortcut window showed up and it seems to come up every time I open or start a new project.
    Seems like the hard way, but eventually the result counts.
    Thanks,
    Ron

  • BPS_WB: Please Wait Dialog Box not Displaying correctly???

    When we switched our Planning Interfaces to using the New Planning Interface Design the Please Wiat Dialog Box does not display correctly.
    When a Request is fired and the client is waiting for the Response all that shows is a white block in the middle of the screen with no dialog screen or other information.
    It maybe associated with the following:
    function bpsOpenURLSelf(doIt, url)
          if (doIt) {
            try {
                document.body.style.cursor = "wait"; // works only in IE
            } catch (ex) {} // ignore
            open(url,'_self');
          // note: function with doIt==false is used to check
          //       existence of the opener window
    Or it may be associated with a CSS issue?
    I am currently using IE 6.0.2900.2180.
    Any thoughts would be appreciated!

  • All Office 2010 Applications Slow To Produce "OPEN" or "SAVE AS" Dialog Box ONLY When PC Connected To Network

    Hello all,
    Frustrating problem: ALL Office 2010 apps require a 45 second delay to produce an "open" or "save as" dialog box when the computer is connected to a LAN (wireless or wired, domain or workgroup). When the computer is NOT connected to a LAN (wireless or wired,
    domain or workgroup), then Office 2010 "open" or "save as" dialog boxes open normally (and quickly).
    I suspect a network search/survey function internal to MS Office is at fault.
    This is NOT the infamous mapped network drive problem associated with Office 2007/2010. There are no mapped drives (nor have there ever been) on the PC, although there might exist a related solution. Additionally, there is no 45 second delay when opening
    a file by double-clicking on the file itself which will launch the application.
    Other information:
    1. PC runs Windows 7 Pro 32 bit - PC is a relatively new Lenovo T400 laptop, all updates from Lenovo and MS installed, running clean and nicely otherwise, no spyware, no viruses, no previous software or hardware issues requiring assistance. Event log is
    clean.
    2. Absolutely fresh installation of Office 2010 Pro Plus (MS Action Pack)
    3. Running Office apps in safe mode does not alter problem behavior (ie, "windword.exe /a" or use CTRL key and double-click to launch app)
    4. Running Windows 7 in safe mode with networking and then subsequently testing Office apps is not possible: "license not able to validate" issue. This is a known problem and is not related to the slow dialog box response behavior.
    5. A desktop PC with the same MS Office 2010 installation, same volume license key, on the same network does NOT produce this problem.
    6. Full uninstall, reboot, and re-install of Office 2010 does not alleviate problem
    7. Disabling ALL startup items and services (including, of course, ALL Lenovo management software) does not alleviate problem
    8. SMB v2 bug is not the problem: ie, disabling mrxsmb20 service does not alleviate symptoms.
    9. I have isolated "Client for Microsoft Networks", "QOS Packet Scheduler", "Link-Layer Topology Discovery Mapper I/O Driver" (and Responder), and "Printer and File Sharing for MS Networks" in the network adapter properties are NOT causing the issue.
    10. Using Sysinternals Registry Monitor, I was able to determine that Office apps evaluate certain properties of your Internet Explorer settings before attempting to launch the "open" or "save as" dialog box. Altering the way intranets are detected, for
    example, does not alleviate the symptoms.
    11. Turning off Antivirus software (Avira Personal) does not alleviate the issue.
    This issue is causing a huge loss of work efficiency. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thank you for your time.
    Sincerely,
    Rick

    Hello Rick,
    Through all the research I have done so far and talking with a few other coworkers what the common issues that cause this are is:
    1. Antivirus: disabling the antivirus is not good enough it needs to be totaly uninstalled and retested.
    2. startup programs: these need to be disabled through either Safe mode with networking or the start menu or MSconfig.
    3. Office addins: Disable all of them see if that helps. Then turn them back on one by one to see which addin is causing the issue.
    To disable addins: 1. open up regedit and navigate to this key. HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\14.0\Word\Addins and HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\Word\Addins
    Then change the LoadBehavior to 0 this will disable the addin. 3 lets it run. Since this affected only one user HKEY_LOCAL_USER might be your best bet but don't rule out the other location.
    To verify there are no addins running go to the File tab>options>Add-Ins make sure nothing is listed under Active Application Add-ins.
    I hope this helps
    Thanks,

  • If the "unresponsive script" dialog box appears while another dialog box (e.g. a "Save As" box), the two dialog boxes lock each other out

    FF 7.0.1 on MacOSX 10.6.8 (not this machine!)
    While doing a "Save As", and while the "Save As" dialog box is showing, a second dialog box "unresponsive script" shows up. I can't deal with the "unresponsive script" box as it doesn't have focus, and I can't complete the "Save As" operation because its script has become unresponsive. I end up having to Force-Quit Firefox via the Activity Monitor.
    Any less brutal suggestions?

    figured it out:
    - power off mac and turn back on while holding down Command + R (dont do it on an external keyboard just to be safe)
    - choose the re-install Lion option (I'm sure there is another way to re-install Lion, this is just the way I did it, not saying its the best or only method)
    - DO NOT INSTALL MACBOOK (Mid 2012) Software Update 1.0 - THIS SCREWS ADOBE UP!

  • New to Dialog Boxes and I'm stuck

    Seems there is no way to format a field in a Dialog Box. How can a field be checked to determine if the correct type of data was entered in it, when the user moves to the next field, before data is committed?
    I am stuck on how to limit the number of characters entered into the postal code and phone fields. I want to limit the number of numeric characters that can be entered in each phonenumber field ie  3 numbers, 3numbers and 4 numbers (999 999 9999)  And postal code field ie 3 characters and 3 characters (A9A 9A9)
    Also, once the user enters the required number of characters in the phone and postal code fields, the code should tab to the next field. And yes, I read about tab_first and next_tab, but don't understand how it works. The way I see it working is that once a phone or postal code field is filled with the required number of characters, control automatically tabs to the next field.
    I am using Adobe Acrobat Professional 8
    This code was written by trail and error using examples from various sources ie Acrobat JavaScript Scripting reference - version 7.0.5, Acrobat JavaScript Scripting Guide - version 7.0, and I have very little experience in creating a dialog box and its code - forgive the mess.

    If you know a link that has what he wants, wouldn't it be prudent just to provide that?
    I got overwhelmed trying to understand all of the different related elements of the Flash family when I was starting, so I know what that's like. Roughly (and Ned might want to correct or clarify some of this), Actionscript 3 is the programming language Flash/Flex/AIR content is based upon. Flash is a blanket term encompassing the developing environment (Flash Pro), code libraries, and runtime (Flash Player). AIR is a runtime environment built upon Flash Player, but with added functionality and cross-platform support. Flex is an extension of Flash, offering MXML components in addition to the libraries available in Flash Pro. Adobe intends for you to use Flex with Flash Builder, a separate IDE built upon Eclipse.
    I haven't used MXML yet, but my impression is that (at least in Flash Builder) it is functionally similar to WYSIWYG editing in Microsoft's Visual Studio.
    If you are developing games, you can edit entirely in Flash Pro, entirely in Flash Builder, or combine both of them. Flash Pro lets you put code on the timeline, which can make some coding much easier, but also makes it very, very easy to write messy and disorganized code. Flash Builder doesn't provide access to the timeline and is intended for class-based development. Personally, I like to combine the two, writing some timeline code in Pro and doing my class files in Builder, but I'm not the greatest developer.
    As a heads-up, the code editor in Flash Pro is absolutely terrible, and is full of bugs that have existed for many generations, because Adobe wants you to buy Flash Builder for the additional $600, but if you are a student or "unemployed", you can get FB for free from Adobe.

  • Dreamweaver CS4 MacOS X dialog boxes are displaying the wrong font

    Just installed a free font I needed to use for a graphic design project. Opened up Dreamweaver to do a different project and found that all the text in the dialog box was being displayed in this font.
    This is pretty maddening to look at - how do I change it back?

    Er, uninstall the font?
    Installing a new font should not do that to Dreamweaver. It sounds as though you have overwritten a system font.

  • Swatch Option Dialog Box Not Displaying Properly

    Whenever I open a Swatch Options Dialog box the Pantone preset colors overlay on the slider bars so that I cannot access the slider bars.
    I've posted a screenshot of what I'm talking about at www.cranstoninc.com/screenshot.jpg
    I tried trashing the com.adobe.indesign.plist file to resolve the issue but that didn't help.
    Any ideas on how to resolve this would be appreciated.

    I found the answer in another post by nread so I am posting his solution here as well.
    I went into my Configure plug-ins, disabled the swatches plugin and its dependancies (created a new plugins set config), then quit and restarted InDesign. After that, I re-enabled all the plugins I disabled (by reloading the default configuration) and restarted InDesign again. Now my swatches work perfectly!
    This worked for me as well.

  • Lines in dialog boxes only

    I just upgraded to a mac pro with an ATI 2600 video card. I get two horizontal lines in dialog boxes.Never had this with my old G4. All other windows and desktops are fine. Anyone know how to fix this?

    An update to my question. Problem remains when running in safe mode. So no ovious startup item conflict. Etc.
    Problem disappears if I create a new user! So what is different between a new user and an old user running in safe mode?
