New 'search' function on video iPod?

I noticed on a video ipod and nano that i used in an apple store yesterday that they have a nwe 'search' menu within 'music' which allows you to search your ipod on a keyword.
but .. when i came home (ipod not on me!) mine does not have this, despite being up to date with the latest firmware, etc.. anyone know how i can get this mine?

This feature is not available on the 60GB 5th gen iPod.
You need a 'Late 2006' model 5th Gen iPod for the search feature.
All 60GB 5th Gen iPods are not Late 2006 models.

  • Deleted emails found when using new search function in 3.0

When I do a "search iPhone" I see a list that contains emails that were deleted, some as old as two months. These found emails do not exist in my Comcast account, and they were deleted from Trash. I thought I was not storing any emails on my iPhone, but I can actually call them up.
How do I get rid of these "deleted" emails?
I hope this hasn't been covered too much already, but I could not locate a thread.

I too have done some search's today in the new search function and found deleted e-mails. I use bigpond for e-mails and they get sent to my phone. I then delete them from my phone and trash box and delete them from my e-mail. Using my computer and bigpond my e-mail account has 33 e-mails that I can find. Doing a search on my phone with this new sortware update I can find 870 e-mails which I believe date back to december last year when I got the phone. Some e-mails are VERY sensitive business wise and deleted as required at the time. But if a work person was to pick my phone up they could do a complete search of all my emails without the requirement of a password. If I let someone make a call on my phone, they can get to all the emails that have ever been through my phone within seconds if they choose. A patch or update is needed!!! This fault would hinder business from wanting to use Iphones.
Is there a way to fix this? and how soon?

  • Oh look a 'search' function on the iPod Touch, but not on our iPhones

Oh look a 'search' function on the iPod Touch, but not on our iPhones. And we had a search all along on our iPhones, except only in the Google Maps prog.
    What the _?

the search in safari searches the net, not the 100's of addresses, calendar entries, emails and notes on the iPhone. Any smartphone or phone billed and priced as a smartphone should do this. There should be a sense of urgency to address this one would think. Josh, we have received maybe three software updates now.

  • How do I use the new search function for ipod?

itunes 7.0 and ipod is up to date:
when i scroll through the music, i get the nifty little grey box with the letter in it, but how do i get to the search where i use the click wheel to input a query and search through all items in my ipod?

Unless your iPod is one of the recently announced upgraded 30GB or 80GB iPods, you don't have the search function. It was not added to existing devices in the recent update. It may or may not be added in some future software update but there's no official word on that.

  • New search function on 5g

i have a 5g 30gig and updated to itunes7 and v1.2 but don't seem to have the search function they show What's up any ideas?

the Search function is already in firmware (I guess the firmware is the same for 'old' and for 'new' iPod Video) but is not available (blocked). The 'switch' is probably model number, i guess. Obviously, Apple narrowed the availability of Search function only to newer iPods to make them more attractive to buyers. Sooner or later someone will find the way how to patch firmware and unblock Search function

  • Please help or I jump of the roof because of new itunes and 30gb video ipod

    HI,
I really need help or the headaches this ... ipod (you know what I was going to say so) anyways, I have this nice 30gig ipod video and was really happy with it until today. I tried to upload some new songs on it with the new itunes 7.0 and it gave me the msg "itunes has detected a ipod that is in recovery mode." or something like that, well it told me to restore the ipod. I did that cause I had my files still on the computer. then I waited for the apple logo on the ipod, worked fine. then when it was finished itunes had the same msg again, you need to restore the ipod. After like five times doing that I stopped and thought maybe the new itunes wasn't good so I installed the older 6.0.5 version, but nothing happened it didn't recognize the ipod.I tried to reset it, to restore it with the updater and that made it even worse. I think I started the updater and then the computer restarted in the middle of the restoration.
Now the ipod keeps resetting it and I can't do anything. I tried to let it drain the battery but that didn't help, the pc isn't recognizing it at all.
Now, could someone tell me what the best thing is I could do instead of hitting the **** thing with a hammer?
I am really frustrated and the support page didn't really help nor did I find any telephone number from apple so I hope that at least someone here can help me get my ipod back to work.
Otherwise I really have to hit it with a hammer. Is there the possiblity taht if I take out the battery, that it stops and resets normally and can be used again? If so, could then someone tell me how I do that?
I hope somebody will find the time to help me.
I thank everybody that might have anything to say to this problem in advance
    sincerely

I feel your pain... I'm having a problem with downloading and installing new software form my 30gb IPod. ITunes 7.01, which I installed on my new computer, will not allow the updated software for the IPod to install or update the IPod. My IPod disappears from the ITunes playlist column as soon as I try to update the software. Apple has a problem with the IPod software update that they have not yet found a solution for. I am unable to update my IPod with a movie that I purchased. I can play it on ITunes, but it will not show up on my IPod. I also lost some other videos that I already had. I'm just waiting for the "Fix" so that I can update.

  • New search functionality in SDN

    Hey everybody
Since past few days i m seeing a new feature in search functionality on SDN.
If i search for any specific term it sorts out the links as per the assigned points/answered questions.I m not really sure if thats the best option coz a lot of times the correct answer might be in the thread but the original poster didn't award points or forgot to close.
Anybody else feels the same way as i do?
    Thanx
    Aamir

I also noticed this a few days ago.
I thought the indexes were corrupted again and was waiting for it to go away.
I guess formally, in a perfect world, the sorted-by-points should be a usefull indicator, so we could learn to live with it (there were requests to "show" the thread status (but not necessarily sort it) as "answered" etc... which is a good thing as it gives more credit to the whole thread value and not (necessarily) an individual contribution to it.
Most of my best posts (in my opinion) have remained unrewarded.
But this new search sorting might also be helpfull for finding points-gamers when searching for easily searchable terms )
Where it bothers most is that the old search sorted by relevance of the thread title. This was very usefull when the thread ID was not known (yet).
    Cheers,
    Julius

  • New search function limited?

I upgraded to 3.0 last night and immediately tested my new OS's search function (the one I am most excited about). I put my haircut person's name in expecting to see a list of all my past and future appointments. Instead only my last one (in May) and my next on (a week from now) were listed.
What is going on? Why is the list only the two closest to today on the Calendar shown?

Yes, Spotlight does seem quite crippled, indeed. Quite a huge number of informations are not found. E.g. Notes: a lot of words is not found by Spotlight, not even if it's written right as first item of a note. Second, Contacts: No contents are found except of the names. Not even such essential pieces of informations like addresses, phone numbers or notes are returned. These issues make Spotlight almost worthless. So I stick with AB Search, which has no problem finding all these contacts info properly.
On the other hand, Spotlight does return phantom results from mails that have been deleted long ago and do not exist any more neither on the phone nor on any server.
Come on Apple, we expect that a highly praised search function does return essential results reliably!
EDIT: And yes, I did send feedback to Apple: http://www.apple.com/feedback/iphone.html

  • New search function

Ignore the title. My question was answered with some forum browsing.
Apple, add the search feature to the old iPods. No ones going to spend another 370 canadian for it, and they can get the longer battery life for 20-40 bucks from a 3rd party.
    Also,
    -Bring back the old headphones
-Add the ability to put a custom backround into the iPod.

You can install the new firmware on the older 5G iPod, but it does not add the search feature.
You'll get some other benefits, such as gapless playback and brightness control... but the search feature is specific to the Late 2006 model of the 5th Gen iPod.

  • Weird question about GNOME3 and its new search function

Ok, it may sound a little strange and I fear for your answers but here is the question...
Is there any way to make gnome3 not to search for ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING when "typing to search" in the menu?
I mean, for god's sake, I was testing all the menus and so on, and suddenly typed "3" and a pair of NSFW movies showed up in the screen. WTF????!!! xD
Is there a way to stop it showing recently opened files? XDD
I do not like this "feature"....

You can remove recent documents by deleting this
    rm ~/.local/share/recently-used.xbel
You can stop logging all recent documents by creating a folder there, i.e.,
    mkdir ~/.local/share/recently-used.xbel
Some tutorials recommend making that folder un-modifiable, but I'm not sure it's necessary
    chattr +i ~/.local/share/recently-used.xbel

  • New iPhone search function totally lame!

I was really looking forward to the new "search" function in iPhone 2.0 update. It is totally lame. It will only look for first and last names. This was easy enough to find before. I need it to find phone numbers and information in my notes (just like the real address book search function does).
Hopefully, some other company will make it work properly with a new App.
    Scott

How about a search function that can search your calendar? What good is a "datebook" application if you have to remember where you entered a specific event? iPhone is the biggest disappointments ever. HUGE downgrade from my Treo. Glad they had all of the problems launching 2.0 (which should have been considered 1.0beta)- serves them right for being so arrogant about a less-than-ready product (again).

  • Adding new custom functionality on BBPAT05 transaction

    Hi all,
I have searched the forum to figure out an answer, but since i could not find it, iam posting my query:
    We are on SRM 5.0.
Our requirement is to add a new search functionality for one of user's custom org attribute 'Default Approver' in the BBPAT05 (Change my Settings) transaction.
We need to add an input box, where the user can enter a pattern search word, and a search button. Upon clicking this he should get the list of users, from which he can pick and save it as his default approver. It gets saved in his org attributes.
Currently, he only gets a list of users in  a drop down box in the Attributes screen from which he can pick, he cannot search for a user though.
I figured out that none of the CUF BADI's get triggered from this transaction. So does it mean that we cannot add custom fields/screen on this transaction?
    Thanks a lot.
    Ramya,

    Hi,
Find the link below  which has step by step process of adding custom fields:

  • New search

Well, I was watching dl.tv and they were showing the 5.5 gen iPods. I saw that there was a new search thing in the iPod for songs and stuff. I went to the interactive iPod on the site: http://www.apple.com/ipod/features.html#
clicked search and saw it was under music. I don't have it. I have a 5.0 gen iPod. Is it only with the 5.5's or what? I have iTunes 7.0.1 and the updated firmware for my iPod (able to change the brightness and stuff)

thanks guys. hopefully the next firmware will have that on there so 5th gen people can have it

  • Search function on new ipod video

I bought a new ipod video from america and it had the ood box, but the brightness control and the new battery on the actual ipod. But there is no search function on it.
I have a friend who just received a new one back from apple with a brighter screen than the old one but without a search function or brightness control.
Does anyone know whats going on?

The search function is only on late 2006 model iPods.
If it's a latest model, the serial number's last three digits will be one of the following: V9K, V9P, V9M, V9R, V9L, V9N, V9Q, V9S, WU9, WUA, WUB, and WUC.

  • Important! search function for everybody with old version 5G ipod video

Hey everybody. A lot of people want to have a search function on their old version ipod video, as do i. But an update fixing the problem is not in the apple planning. So i called tech support and they made a request to apple for me, telling them that such an update is wanted. But they won`t act on it until they have enough requests. So i`m asking everybody with this problem, and perhaps also people who just want to help, to call tech support (not the apple store) and make a request to apple for them to make this update. If a lot of people do this hopefully we`ll get the update!

    You can send feedback to Apple here;
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/ipod.html
I don't know if the can or will add this feature, but
it doesn't hurt to make the suggestion using the
    proper feedback channels.
    Cheers!
    -Bryan
    Good idea.. I'll do this.
    thanks.
