New Search help - Cloning DEBIX

Hi I need to create a new search help which will be a clone of standard search help DEBIX. I have to add two new feilds to the DEBIX which will be STR_SUPPL3(street 4) and LOCATION (street 5). When I copied this particualr search help and added the two fields in it , it dosent seem to allow me to get a new selection screen for it and it gives the same selection screen as DEBIX without addition of these two fields where I can input some value. I did add those two fields to my list of fields that I want on my selection yet it gives me a selection screen similar to debix. Then I tried using a database view instaed of teh search help exit used in it , this works but this made the search help case-sensitive which I dont want .
Can you please advice or suggest what I need to do so that I get a screen with fields that I want and its case-insensitiuve.
Help will be greatly appreciated.

Thats right Greg < i have done exactly that way . I created a Z search help with same fields as DEBIX , added my two extra fields , removed the search help exit , created a new Z view table included those two fields there and then added this new search help in DEBI and assigned the parameters , its working fine , but as I said its case-sensitive , I want to make it case-insensitive , so that it goes by the word and not by its cases.
Please suggest as what needs to be done to accomplish this .

Try by extending collective search helps - like SAKO for SKA1-SAKNR - by appending your custom search help.
Then I think when you select GL Account description in chart or accounts it will call your custom search help inside it.

Creating a new Search Help on a standard SAP table field?

Good day, everyone!
As part of a report I am writing, the customer would like to have Search Help added to the AUFEX field in table AUFK. They would like this functionality so that when they are changing an order via t-code ko02, they can get a list of valid values to put in field AUFEX. I would like to tie it to a zTable I've created; in my zTable, I have just 2 fields: a key value (that will go into AUFEX) and a text description of the key value. This zTable is used in my report.
While I've created a Search Help on this table already for table maintenance, I've never added a custom Search Help to an existing standard SAP table field before. I've done some Googling and other searching to see what I need to know, but I've only been able to find information on Collective Search Helps. AUFEX doesn't yet have a Search Help field, so I don't think Collective Search Helps is my answer.
Is this possible? Can I add a custom Search Help to a standard SAP table field that doesn't have any Search Help linked to it yet? Is there an existing thread or guide somewhere that can tell me how to do this?

Yes u can: u can assign the search help to (A) data element livel or (B) field table livel.
After creating your search help:
A) Run SE11, insert your data element (AUFEX), press edit and insert the search help in "Search Help" area on DEFINATION tab;
B) Run SE11, insert your table (AUFK), press edit, place the cursor on your field (AUFEX) and go to GoTo->Search help->for field
But u should consider it'll mean to change a standard object for both cases: so u need to get the access key from your OSS.

EX:
IF i select Customer : 100 in VD01
It Should get display in the field Customer in VD01.

New search help on CRMD_ORDER locator

Hi Experts,
I have created a new search id in the search type SAL_SALES. I have copied the function group CRM_1O_LOCATOR in order to modify the logic to satisfy the customer requirements. Before doing any mkodification I have decided to test the search pressing start button and the search threw a dump. I have debugged and I have found the error....the search try to use a method of the class cl_crm_1o_locator through the instance gv_application. The problem is that gv_application is null and the exception OBJECTS_OBJREF_NOT_ASSIGNED, because of accessing via 'NULL' object reference is not possible. The standard create this reference object via the constructor method of the class CL_CRM_1O_NAVIG, where call the FM CRM_1O_LOCATOR and pass this reference to variable gv_application of the function group CRM_1O_LOCATOR, and then call ascreen of my ZFunction group, thus that my own gv_appliocation is never instantiated. Anyone have dealt with this????

I am going to explain you why I want create a new search Id. Really I want a search like 'General' search Id (search type 'Sales'). But I want that Status listbox shows user status instead of system status or whatever it shows. I have read that you can maintan table view CRMV_STATUS_PROC in order to add the status you want to display. But what must I do with the rest of the status I don´t want display...does it suffice marking the checkbox of display field for every status in the table?
Besides, I want to add a new column in the layout of the result table of the search. I want to add the description of the business partner from a specific partner function for every sales order. How can I achieve this?

Search help with new selection within if more than 500 entries

Dear all,
I created a new search help and this works fine ... If I compare my search help with a default search help from SAP, I have 1 small feature that not seems to work ... With the default one, it is possible to make a new selection within the search help by clicking on the arrow down :
If I look at my search help, I don't have the possibility to make a new selection :
Does anyone how this can be done ?

HI,
Here are the general steps to get you started.
1. Identify the search help being used (on the ship-to-party field, F1 then Tech Info). I believe you want the collective search help SD_DEBI.
2. Create your own search help with the fields you want to use with SE11, like 'ZDEBI' as an example.
3. Append 'ZDEBI' to SD_DEBI. (Goto->Append Search Help).
4. Clean things up by "Hiding" the old search help. In the 'Included Search Help' tab of the collective search help SD_DEBI, there is a check box that you can tick to hide included search helps.

I need to create a new matchcode for transaction XD03 which is directly a clone of search help DEBIX with additions of two fields i.e street 4 and street 5(STR_SUPPL3 & LOCATION). When I do that by copying and adding the two fields somehow I was not getting theright thing and it was taking me through the DEBIX , probably due to teh fact that I was using the same FM used in DEBIX. SO i created another database view table and put the required fields needed in it, but still I am not getting the result.
Can anyone help me in creating this new search help which will be similar to DEBIX and the two fields added to it.

Are those fields are from the smae table or they are from same table. what is happening when you go to view and check the entries, are those fields populated or not.
May be inside the function they are populating the search help values with some coding manually , which don't include the Fields which you added recently.
For time being, just to test remove the Exit function and check it once , are you getting values in those fields are not..

Search Help to display 2 different fields/values

Hi Everyone,
I am going to use a search help for a certain screen transaction using a search help. A certain input field should have an F4 function (using list box). The values to be displayed after F4 input should be the Business Object type and BP number. This input field is can display either of the two fields.
How can I do this? Do I need to create a new search help for this? Business Object is from table SWOTIP field OBJTYPE and BP Number is form table BUT000 field PARTNER.
Kindly help me on this.

Hello Ashish,
The input help should have two possible values. It may be the Org unit number or the Business Partner number.
As for my experience in search help, the only thing I know about it is to set a reference db table then the field which is to be displayed during F4. For example, an input help requires a Plant number, the search help will have a reference table (selection method) T001W and a parameter of field WERKS.
What if the input field can contain either an org unit number OR a business partner number, how should I create the search help? What should be the selection method (table name) to be filled? Is it the BUT000 (for bus partner) or HRP1001 (for org unit)?

Need some help in creating Search Help for standard screen/field

I need some help in adding a search-help to a standard screen-field.
Transaction Code - PP01,
Plan Version - Current Plan (PLVAR = '01'),
Object Type - Position ( OTYPE = 'S'),
Click on Infotype Name - Object ( Infotype 1000) and Create.
I need to add search help to fields Object Abbr (P1000-SHORT) / Object Name (P1000-STEXT).
I want to create one custom table with fields, Position Abb, Position Name, Job. Position Abb should be Primary Key. And when object type is Position (S), I should be able to press F4 for Object Abb/Object Name fields and should return Position Abbr and Position Name.
I specify again, I have to add a new search help to standard screen/field and not to enhance it.
This is HR specific transaction. If someone has done similar thing with some other transation, please let me know.
There is no existing search help for these fields. If sm1 ever tried or has an idea how to add new search help to a standard screen/field.
It's urgent.

A search help exit is a function module for making the input help process described by the search help more flexible than possible with the standard version.
This function module must have the same interface as function module F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE. The search help exit may also have further optional parameters (in particular any EXPORTING parameters).
A search help exit is called at certain timepoints in the input help process.
Note: The source text and long documentation of the above-specified function module (including the long documentation about the parameters) contain information about using search help exits.
Function modules are provided in the function library for operations that are frequently executed in search help exits. The names of these function modules begin with the prefix F4UT_. These function modules can either be used directly as search help exits or used within other search help exits. You can find precise instructions for use in the long documentation for the corresponding function module.
During the input help process, a number of timepoints are defined that each define the beginning of an important operation of the input help process.
If the input help process is defined with a search help having a search help exit, this search help exit is called at each of these timepoints. If required, the search help exit can also influence the process and even determine that the process should be continued at a different timepoint.

1. SELONE
Call before selecting an elementary search help. The possible elementary search helps are already in SHLP_TAB. This timepoint can be used in a search help exit of a collective search help to restrict the selection possibilities for the elementary search helps.
Entries that are deleted from SHLP_TAB in this step are not offered in the elementary search help selection. If there is only one entry remaining in SHLP_TAB, the dialog box for selecting elementary search helps is skipped. You may not change the next timepoint.
The timepoint is not accessed again if another elementary search help is to be selected during the dialog.
2. PRESEL1
After selecting an elementary search help. Table INTERFACE has not yet been copied to table SELOPT at this timepoint in the definition of the search help (type SHLP_DESCR_T). This means that you can still influence the attachment of the search help to the screen here. (Table INTERFACE contains the information about how the search help parameters are related to the screen fields).
3. PRESEL
Before sending the dialog box for restricting values. This timepoint is suitable for predefining the value restriction or for completely suppressing or copying the dialog.
4. SELECT
Before selecting the values. If you do not want the default selection, you should copy this timepoint with a search help exit. DISP should be set as the next timepoint.
5. DISP
Before displaying the hit list. This timepoint is suitable for restricting the values to be displayed, e.g. depending on authorizations.
6. RETURN (usually as return value for the next timepoint)
The RETURN timepoint should be returned as the next step if a single hit was selected in a search help exit.
It can make sense to change the F4 flow at this timepoint if control of the process sequence of the Transaction should depend on the selected value (typical example: setting SET/GET parameters). However, you should note that the process will then depend on whether a value was entered manually or with an input help.
7. RETTOP
You only go to this timepoint if the input help is controlled by a collective search help. It directly follows the timepoint RETURN. The search help exit of the collective search help, however, is called at timepoint RETTOP.
8. EXIT (only for return as next timepoint)
The EXIT timepoint should be returned as the next step if the user had the opportunity to terminate the dialog within the search help exit.
9. CREATE
The CREATE timepoint is only accessed if the user selects the function "Create new values". This function is only available if field CUSTTAB of the control string CALLCONTROL was given a value not equal to SPACE earlier on.
The name of the (customizing) table to be maintained is normally entered there. The next step returned after CREATE should be SELECT so that the newly entered value can be selected and then displayed.
10. APP1, APP2, APP3
If further pushbuttons are introduced in the hit list with function module F4UT_LIST_EXIT, these timepoints are introduced. They are accessed when the user presses the corresponding pushbutton.
Note: If the F4 help is controlled by a collective search help, the search help exit of the collective search help is called at timepoints SELONE and RETTOP. (RETTOP only if the user selects a value.) At all other timepoints the search help exit of the selected elementary search help is called.
If the F4 help is controlled by an elementary search help, timepoint RETTOP is not executed. The search help exit of the elementary search help is called at timepoint SELONE (at the
F4IF_SHLP_EXIT_EXAMPLE
This module has been created as an example for the interface and design of Search help exits in Search help.
All the interface parameters defined here are mandatory for a function module to be used as a search help exit, because the calling program does not know which parameters are actually used internally.
A search help exit is called repeatedly in connection with several
events during the F4 process. The relevant step of the process is passed on in the CALLCONTROL step. If the module is intended to perform only a few modifications before the step, CALLCONTROL-STEP should remain unchanged.
However, if the step is performed completely by the module, the following step must be returned in CALLCONTROL-STEP.
The module must react with an immediate EXIT to all steps that it does not know or does not want to handle.

Search Help for Hierarchy Node in SAP BW 7.3

Hi Experts,
We were previously using SAP BW 7.1 system and we had a table which used to be maintained through SM30 which has a customed search help on one of the fields for a hierarchy object. And it was working perfectly.
However, one of our systems have just been migrated into 7.3 version and the above functionality is no longer working.
This is what is happening now:
- User selects a hierarchy and after selection nothing is being displayed on field on the table.
We have tried to debug this customed search help in both environments to distinguish what is wrong. We have noted that a standard function module (RRSV_IOBJ_VALUE_OUTPUT) is not behaving similarly. In 7.1 system, the C_T_DATA table is being filled whereby in the 7.3 system, it is empty.
Do you think this is the issue?
Please do advise and propose what can be done to make it work. Or any idea on how to create a new search help for a hierarchy node in 7.3?

one more thing i will like to add here is in BW 7.3 you get a new security admin feature that allows you to make mass changes to authorizations instead of one-by-one. This can be done by cut-and-paste in a worklist, hierarchy nodes, and you can also add users to multiple analysis authorizations.
The u2018newu2019 authorizations has both the data value and hierarchy restrictions. You can still build using the u201CRSECADMINu201D transaction
Also make sure that all objects are in the TLIBG library and they will be 'shielded' during the upgrade.

Search help for field in SM30

Hi Experts,
This is a Z table with first field as GROUP and second field as KEY.
User can select values for first field using a search help. It has three possibel entries
1. Purchasing Org
2. Region
3. Coutnry
In second field the user has to enetr value based on selection in first field, for eg. if 1 is chosen in 1st field user will enter name of a purchasing organisation.
Can we dispay a search help for second field based on the selection in first field?
Like if 1 is selected in 1st field second field should display search help for Purchasing Org
if 2 is selected in 1st field second field should display search help for Region....in SM30?
How can we achieve this?

Hi Anubhav,
1.Go to the table maintenance generator screen from SE11 (Utilities -> Table Maintenance Generator).
2. In the Table maintenance generator screen , navigate to Environment -> Modifications -> Maintenance Screens
3. Select and Edit the screen where you need this new search help
4. Create a Process on Value Request module for your second field at the end of the screen flow logic after MODULE LISTE_AFTER_LOOP.
5. In the POV module, use funcntion DYNP_VALUES_READ to read the value of field 1 on the screen
6. Fill your own table with the values for field 2 based on field 1 and display selection using the function F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST

I want to replace a field's search help in DDIC structure, for an example, in structure HCMT_BSP_PA_XX_R0009, the field BANKL(Bank Keys) has a search help named 'H_BANKL', I want to replace this search help with other one such as 'H_BANKEY' in the FPM feeder class CL_HRESS_PER_DETAIL, I redefined such method:

field-symbols: <fs_field_description> like line of et_field_description.

I test it and found the search help window was replaced indeed, but all the value of import/export parameters in the new search help was lost, it means, the value of import paramer BANKS(Bank country) and the export parameter BANKA(bank name) were lost. Only the value of BANKL itself can be returned by the new search help window. Can you give me some suggestions about how to maintain the link( value exchange) between structure HCMT_BSP_PA_XX_R0009 and dynamically defined search help 'H_BANKEY' in FPM feeder class?
I tried to use sap memory ID but it doesn't works well.

That is because for the import and export of DDIC Search help values to work in WDA, not in FPM layer.Feeder Class can do nothing about it.

Disable fields in search help restriction window

Hi Experts,
Here is the situation:
I have created the new search help for material number and assigned this search help in my module pool program.
As soon as user press F4 button on material number , it will display search help restrictions window with 4 fields ( material, material type, plant, plant status).
I have set default value for the material type in search help itself. But I would like to disable this field.
I mean .... user should not enter any other values other than my default value. So I should disable the material type field in searh help restrictions window.
Pls help me.

In the FM F4IF_INT_TABLE_VALUE_REQUEST, pass exporting parameter callback_form = 'SUB_CALL_BACK'.
Define the sub routine with the SUB_CALL_BACK with below logic
        FORM SUB_CALL_BACK TABLES record_tab STRUCTURE seahlpres
                                               CHANGING shlp      TYPE           shlp_descr
                                                                 callcontrol TYPE DDSHF4CTRL.
               callcontrol-MULTISEL = 'X'.
         ENDFORM.

If you want to add a field in Elementary search help, get the search help name for the and go to change mode and add the field in it.
If you want to add a field in collective search help, go to included search helps tab and a new search help name and add the fields to it.
I think this should help you to certain extent.
