New security update logging me out of wireless

Forgive me if this is boneheaded...
Yesterday morning (8/22/07) I downloaded the latest security update. Since then, my wireless internet access is sporadic -- what appears to be happening is that it'll work fine for 5-10 minutes, then fail ("you are not connected to the internet"). When I do Network Diagnostics, I have greenlights on ISP connection but not Internet (or server, of course). Then ND asks me to confirm Airport, confirm my wireless base (automatically re-entering the password from keychain) -- and it appears that simply this manual re-log into the wireless base solves all problems and I'm good to go again -- for another 5-10 minutes.
It'd driving me crazy to run ND every few minutes. I can't find security settings that seem to indicate a wireless base inactivity log-out timeframe to change it. Any help appreciated; thanks!

First thing I'd do is get Applejack...
http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/19596
After installing, reboot holding down CMD+s, then when the prompt shows, type in...
applejack AUTO
Then let it do all 5 of it's things.
At least it'll eliminate some questions if it doesn't fix it.
If that doesn't help, try making a new User to test if they have a problem.
Also, is this an Automount situation on the Server? One thing that can work, try this, please ignore the exact symptoms and connection and Hardware types, it's worked for many others than the stated...

  • Is the New Security Update Working on My Computers?

I have noticed that the XProtect.plist on 2 different computers have never updated since I installed the new Security Update on June 1. I have an Apple Care Product Specialist trying to figure it out.
But, I ran across this (pasted below) today when checking Console, and if anyone can dechiper logs, maybe some independent analysis will tell me why I'm not getting the "MacDefender" scan this security update was supposed to provide (and why the subject .plist  has never updated since installing the Security Update on 2 10.6.7 Intel iMacs 4 days ago).
If anyone can dechiper the log and tell me what I might do to correct this problem, kudos!

  • New Security Update - Airport no longer works. Help ?

    Hey all
this morning I ran various software updates: itunes, safari and the new security update. From that moment onwards, I cannot access the internet using my MacBook (about a year old, running Mac OS X 10.4.11). I normally use Firefox to access the net, but neither that nor Safari work now.
I know my internet works as I can access it wirelessly using my work laptop and my desktop.
But when I try to access my broadband using my macbook:
    a) the "waves" on the airport all remain light-shaded
    b) I receive an error message saying " There was an error joining the Airport network 'Zyxel' " (the router is zyxel).
If anyone has any thoughts on how to reset the connnection back to how it was, I'd be EXTREMELY grateful.
    thanks

  • New Security update ipod touch 4th gen

I was down loading a few new apps/games for my 32gb 4th gen ipod touch using the ipod it's self  last nite 18-9-2011, after they where down loaded i connected my ipod to my computers itunes i went in the back up stage copying the app's/games to my itunes library, after this was done an message poped up on both my computer and ipod touch saying new Security update ipod touch 4th gen it satrting to download and i could not cancel it, now i know my ipod has the 16 digt passcode set up on it so now everytime i link my ipod to any of my auhorised computer it say itunes can not connect to my ipod as its passcoded which i think is an good thing because if i lose it anybody finding it if i lose it can't restore it. but is there any way of my computer been able to know its pass code with out haveing to enter it in to the ipod its self all the time

I looked at the descriptions for the last three update and none said they did anything about entering the passcode.  The Apple documentation says you should only have to enterthe passcode the first time you connect to the computer.  Specifically:
If you protect your iPhone or iPod touch with a passcode, you will be prompted to enter the passcode when you connect to iTunes. Once you successfully enter the passcode, iTunes will recognize that device as authorized and you will not need your passcode to back up or sync.

  • "a new security update was installed on your Mac"

I was using my Macbook Pro this morning, and the update bar came up on the right top screen, so I said "remind me tomorrow".
Less than a minute later, a box popped up in the same place which says "Security Update Installed A new security update was installed on your Mac"
I am submitting the question because I haven't had this message before, nor did I authorize an update this morning.
Is this malware or a new service in OS X Yosemite 10.10.1?
Also, when I tried logging into the apple forums using my keycode and password, it said my account is locked for security reasons.  I logged in the old fashioned way, typing my information and got in.
    Thank you!

It is possible that  the recent security update was installed automatically.
You can verify it. If the info is as shown below, there is nothing to worry.

  • New Security Update and now apple based programs will not run

I recently downloaded and installed the new security update. I also attempted to download the safari 3.1 update, but an error occurred during download. After restart, iTunes, Mail, Safari, Installer and iMovie will not start (Quicktime will start). The applications from bar and from applications folder will not launch. All third party apps seem to work (I used Explorer 5.2-which I found hidden in one of my folders- to download firefox which I am using now)
    I have tried:
-Reinstalling most recent Leopard Update (10.4.11), which fails to even start because Installer crashes
    -Deleting preference files
    -Using disk utility
-Booting from safe mode and single user mode
-Running repair permissions from prompt screen (command-s)
    -"Problem Report for Installer" reads:

  • Airport card not showing up after new Security Update

  • Tiger going crazy on iBook G4 with new security update and Safari 3

    I'm running 10.4.11, 1.42GHz PPC G4 with 1.5GB of SDRAM.
So I ran software update where I noticed new Security Update and Safari update.
I tried to run the new Safari - Nothing, it's dead, no action! ( could hear hard drive but no action)
Today I tried running 'Software Update', it's spinning it's wheels, over and over again.
I'm sure Apple is working on sending me an email, as they got the skinny when the program crashed I forwarded the system message.
So a bit frustrated hear, I'm using Safari and getting to know Camino.
The Biggest frustration is that 'Mail' will not boot up so I use my internet to check mail, bummer.
So lets hope we get some info soon.

If you are operating behind a proxy server, maybe this will help.
With regards to crashes from behind a proxy server, I came up with a work around!
I have been using Automatic proxy configuration using a .pac file. That seems to be causing the error.
After inspecting the .pac file, and following the if, ifelse path, at the very bottom is a proxy address and port for unclassified connections. Mine looks like this
    proxy.sun.ac.za Port :####
I have put this into my System Preferences for all connection types, manually. This is found under, System Preferences: Built-in Ethernet: Configure Manually...
Then you need to go through the box on the left and check each box. As you do so, paste the default proxy address and port in the open boxes on the right.
Hope this work around helps. My Quicktime is still not working for my older .avi files.

  • Kernel Panics with new security update

Anyone else having this problem? Downloaded the new security update, installed, restarted (took a very long time to restart) the computer rebooted itself and then began to kernel panic every time I booted it. Works fine if I boot into windows so seems to be something the new software update broke. Anyone else having similar issues?

Well I am having a weird problem. This is my first post so I am not sure if I need to make a new post, but here goes.
I installed the Security Update 2007-005 (PowerPC) on May 31 on my MacBook Pro. I can't be certain but I think since I installed it I have a spinning ball and can't do much of anything. Like something is bogging it down. It will eventually stop but will start again the minute I do anything... something is just not right. I have tried all troubleshooting techniques but found it is not possible to even try them.
Safe Boot... It automatically decides to shut down before it gets to the safe boot screen.
Disk Utility... Restarting off the disk, yes, but when I run the program I get "could not unmount disk"
Trying to run fsck -y, in single user mode (command s)... I get "Volume is journaled. No checking performed. Use the -f option to force checking.
I have no idea what to do next. I guess I will try to reinstall my system off my disks. Does anyone have any ideas... please help this is taking up so much time.

  • This is IMPORTANT!!  New Security Update Available Now!

    Gang,
I think Apple has fixed our problems. There is a new Security Update, and it seems to be working. I've been struggling for weeks with my computer, especially with Safari. Get the update. I think it will make a difference. - R.T.

    the command in terminal
    more /System/Library/CoreServices/CoreTypes.bundle/Contents/Resources/XProtect.meta. plist
should bring as a result something like:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <!DOCTYPE plist PUBLIC "-//Apple//DTD PLIST 1.0//EN" "http://www.apple.com/DTDs/PropertyList-1.0.dtd">

            <key>Version</key>
            <integer>3</integer>
    </dict>
    </plist>
If it shows version not 3 or grather (<integer>3</integer>) try to force my Mac to update its malware definitions, I launched System Preferences > Security > General, and then unchecked and re-checked the box in front of "Automatically update safe downloads list."
and tun the command in terminal again to check if it is updated.

  • NEW SECURITY UPDATE = SYSTEM CRASH

today, 12-24-07, i checked on the software updates and saw there was a new security update. after the install and restart i got the "Black Screen Of Death" or rather the "You Must Restart Your Computer" black dialog box ( i believe this is caused by a kernal panic). Now my computer wont start up. PLEASE HELP!!!!! how can i fix this????
    using imac g5
    OS 10.4.11

booting from the startup disc and repairing permissions worked.
(however it hung up the first time i tried during the repair so after a while i forced a shut down, then rebooted from disc again and attempted the repair of permissions. this time it worked)
For now the machine seems to work fine.

I just installed the new SAFARI 3.1 as well as the security update and I am SCREWED! (unless a genius here can help out).

Apple is having server problems affecting App Store, iTunes, iCloud, etc…
Check the Apple Service Status(***) page… http://www.apple.com/support/systemstatus/
