New separator button missing?!

I realize that this question was already asked, but in order to reply or create an account just to reply - I HAD to ask a question.
Though I know that the new Firefox interface is here, it couldn't hurt to put the separator button in the option available for me to drop in on the main toolbar or tab-bar. The issue I have is that I have separators now in the way I've customized Firefox, but if I remove them there's NO WAY to get them back. I'm not asking for for the universe, just a separator button...
This is the original question to which I am referring: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/questions/997546#answer-564898

@FredMcD I understand that they are doing that. I don't want to revert the UI per se. I like the the new UI and how speedy Firefox is now. All I want is the separator item back which shouldn't be asking for much... I already have a separator in my UI.
And if it's going to be asking for too much, I'll have to consider writing an add-on that will make it available again.

  • New Tab button missing after upgrade to 7.0.1

I prefer not to have the Tab Bar showing unless I have more than one tab open, but I sometimes like to open a blank tab, so that I can open a link from an email into it. (Not the default for me.) Alas, ever since I upgraded to Firefox 7.0.1 from the version Fedora Linux gave me (3.6.x) I've been unable to get the New Tab button back. Not only can't I move the one on the Tab Bar to the Navigation Bar, it's not available under Customize. It is, however, available on the copy of Firefox 7.0.1 on my laptop, also running Fedora. I've tried running FF in Safe mode, I've backed up my local settings and had Safe mode set everything to default and restarted, with no change. I have Tab Mix Plus installed, but running FF without it doesn't change anything.

I followed the instructions in your first link, but I don't have a user.js file, and in any event, the instructions there aren't really relevant. The problem isn't that Firefox doesn't remember this setting, it's that I can't set Firefox to put a New Tab button on my Navigation bar in the first place because it's not in the list of items I can select. And yes, I've tried restoring the default set several different times with no effect. I know that the button exists, because I can see it on the copy on my laptop, even after the upgrade. The only thing I haven't tried (maybe) is disabling all plugins, so I'll try that and report back.

The New Tab button on the right side of the last tab is missing on the Tab bar How do I get it back?

For now, you can try using Ctrl + t to open new tabs if you can't open them otherwise, but try right clicking the tabs bar, clicking "customize," and then in the window that comes up try clicking the "restore default set" button. I don't know if it will work in your case but it wouldn't hurt to try.

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
    * Go to "View > Toolbars" and check-mark "Menu Bar" with a click if you want to make that permanent

  • I am missing the new firefox button. how can I see it?

I have upgraded to Firefox 4, and the new Firefox button (should be on right topmost corner) is missing.
How can I configure Firefox to show it?

you can simply disable the display of the menu bar (right click in any toolbar and then disable it) and then the new firefox futton will appear.

  • The button to open a new tab is missing from each tab in Firefox 7

I have Win 7 and Firefox 7 on my PC. I used to have the + to open a new tab on the right end of the open tab. That is gone now, though when I loaded Firefox 7 on my PC at work (Win XP) it had the = on the tab, before it crashed and would not open again. I have to run 3.16(?) on that computer.

You can find the New Tab button showing as a '+' on the Tab bar.<br />
You can open the Customize window and drag the New Tab button that shows as a plus sign (+) from the Tab bar on another toolbar and it will become a regular toolbar button like the New Tab button that you have in Firefox 3 versions.<br />
If you can't find the New Tab button then click the "Restore Default Set" button in the Customize window.<br />
If you want the New Tab button at the far right end of the Tab bar then place a flexible space to the left of it.<br />

  • My "New tab" button is missing, it is not located among the others in the "customize" menu. Is it possible to bring it back next to the page arrows?

I mean, I use the same version of Firefox on a similar cpmputer at work, and I do have the "Open new tab" aviable.
I know there are other ways to open a new tab, but I really preffer this one.
I tried everything, but I'm stuck. Help appreciated.

  • Missing new tab button in FF 29, restore default didnt helped

After update to Firefox 29, i no logner see new tab button (+). I clicked on restore default, it didnt worked just made everything else worse.
I am very disapointed with this new UI, well thanks you very much for that.

Ok i found it in safe mode. But i use addon for FF28 UI and if i put it on tab bar its not visible :(
I know you says its addon problem, but this new UI is horrible. Time to install FF28 back.

  • Since latest update, every time I start up Firefox the "New Tab" button is gone and I need to re-add it from the "customise toolbar" menu.

I don't know if my settings are not being remembered or what, but the New Tab button is missing each time I open up Firefox.

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).
    * Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

  • FF 14.0.1, Multiple issues, new tab button broken, sites freeze, unstable, more..

I can't load the some random pages, the new tab button next to the farthest right tab clicks but does not open a new tab... <ctrl>+T does work still.
Pages that load in other browsers time out or otherwise fail to load since the 14.0.1 update.
    General instability of Firefox.
sometimes the browser is slow to load, even though there is no problem with the connection or site. (verified by quickly opening opera or chrome, loading the same page in those browsers while FF is still trying)
This is the saddest release of Firefox ever.
Please fix my browser of choice.
Opera looks better every day, as Firefox keeps getting worse.
I remember not to long ago when a running instance of Firefox was ~28MB of RAM, and even a slow leak would not top 100MB in a day's browsing....
Now it starts with several hundred MB's before the home page is even loaded...
    Sloppy.
Programmers thought they were slick and convinced Mozilla Foundation a bigger footprint would be more stable... look what's happened... more code to sift to even find problems..
I still need IETab v2 just to be able to use all sites I want.... hasn't Firefox got enough intelligence to figure certain code is used and switch to a different rendering technique?
At least we have IETab v2 when we need it.... it would be nice to not need an addon to make up for a lack of functionality in FF. (Yes, I know Microsoft uses non-standard HTML... and I also know after years of that same code being used that Firefox COULD see that and accept it as something that must just be accepted)
Those pages may not be in compliance with W3C standards, but who wants to live under a dictator anyway... deal with it.
Firefox keeps getting bigger and less desirable, with less reliability... Trim the fat... I'd take stability and reasonable functionality any day. I sorely miss FF 3.X...

    Hi,
Please try the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/reset-firefox-easily-fix-most-problems Reset Firefox] feature via '''Help''' ('''Alt''' + '''H''') > '''Troubleshooting Information'''. Hopefully most of the issues will be solved.
(To revert to the previous profile you were using, close the new profile (i.e. exit Firefox), start Firefox and choose the '''Default User''' profile. While the [https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/profile-manager-create-and-remove-firefox-profiles Profile Manager] is open, you can also delete the newly reset profile (the one containing random numbers), or the former profile, as the case may be). If the reset is okay, it would be a good idea to delete the old profile as otherwise it would be left intact with the previous data until deleted.

  • I have 9.0.1 on 2 pc's, both xp sp3. On 1 the 'open new tab' button is visible, on the other, the 'open new tab' button is not even available in the 'customize toolbar' menu for dragging and dropping. Why?

I used the same installation file, but on 1 pc, the 'open new tab' button is available in the 'customize toolbar' menu and can be dragged and dropped onto the navigation bar. On the other pc, the 'open new tab' button/icon is not even available for dragging and dropping. I uninstalled firefox completely, including settings and preferences, then reinstalled, but that did not correct the missing button.

    Hi,
Please try '''Restore Default Set''' in the '''Customize...''' window. If it's still not visible, one reason could be that the button is already placed on the toolbar but may be hidden behind another icon or toolbar.

  • New Tab Button has disappeared

Rearranging buttons on my toolbar, I was dragging the New Tab button to a different location, and when I let go of it, it just disappeared. Firefox apparently thinks it's still in the toolbar, because it's not showing up in the available buttons window, either.
I cleared cache, relaunched, rebooted, restored the default toolbar, nothing.
    Any ideas?
I tried adding info using the Troubleshooter add-on, but with a character limit of 30,000, it's a little difficult to do that any still be able to describe what the problem is.

To which position did you drag the button?
To another toolbar or to a different position on the Tab bar?
Does the button become visible when you open the Customize window?
    *View > Toolbars > Customize
*if missing items are in the toolbar palette then drag them back from the Customize window on the toolbar
*if you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar setup
