New Sequence Settings for iPhone 4 Video?

Hey everyone! I looked through the CS4 forum and didn't find an answer to this question, so thought I would post it here.
I am using Premiere Pro CS4. I have taken HD video using my iPhone 4 (1280x720, 29 fps, data rate 11011kbps, etc). I want to splice together a series of these short videos, but am unsure of how to keep the HD picture quality when I export to a new *.avi file. Each time I export to an avi my resolution and picture quality drop considerably. Does anyone have a suggestion on how to keep the 720p quality? I am sure my problem is the wrong video preset (I've tried HDV 720p30 and HDV 1080p30 without luck). Any suggestions here would be appreciated!

Now, if you will wish to create DVD-Video, then you might wish to consider maybe two different Exports. One for other playback, and then look at down-rezzing for SD/DVD-Video playback. This ARTICLE should give you some tips on HD to SD.
Good luck,
Hunt

  • Best sequence settings for imported video

I created a simple screencast of a powerpoint slideshow with another piece of software, and exported it as .mov (H264). The screencast was created at 25 FPS with no audio.
When I import it to Premiere CS5, the video quality is pretty bad. I can't read someo the smaller letters on the slides, and when the slides are static, the graphics on them pulsate. Bottom line is, I need the quality to be better.
I think the problem might be that I am not matching my sequence settings to fit the imported file. When I create a new sequence, there are dozens of different presets, and I have no idea which one is the best one.
The reason I want import to Premiere is so I can add audio...etc., and export, and upload to Youtube, burn to cd...etc. But, I want the quality to be good, and it is quite simply...terrible.
    Any help would appreciated.

  • Best Streamclip settings for iPhone 4 Video - to edit in FCE

First, the problem: iPhone 4 records HD video in h.264. But Final Cut Express doesn't have sequence settings for editing h.264 or iPhone video clips.
The solution: I'm using Streamclip to convert all of my iPhone 4 videos to a format FCE lets me edit in.
Question: What are the optimal settings to insure that my final output retains quality almost equal to the original video shot on my iPhone? (More specifically, I plan on uploading to Youtube as a HD video).
I've read somewhere that I should convert to Quicktime Movie format, with Apple Intermediate Codec 720p 30fps. Is that the best compression type to convert to for editing iPhone 4 videos in FCE? If so, how should the other settings in streamclip be jiggered? For instance, does it make much difference if I set the Quality slider to 100% (As opposed to the default at 50%?) What about audio compression settings?
(P.S. I think it's very annoying that I can't directly edit a video from iPhone 4 on another consumer Apple product, the FCE. Does FCP let me directly edit h.264/iphone 4 videos?)

The slider makes no difference as AIC is variable bit rate within a specific range. No audio compression in FCE ever. Uncompressed stereo 48k, the video standard sample rate.
It would be truly miraculous if FCE worked with iPhone media as the current version predates it by three years, which in computer lifetimes is two generations, basically the equivalent of your grandfather having developed an app for a smartphone when he was a young man. FCP is a mere year old, well before the iPhone did video. Furthermore, if you'd read the forums, you'd see that H.264 is an acquisition and delivery forward. It is not used in production. The codec is not suitable for efficient production and really should never be used there. It's very unfortunate that camera manufacturers have taken the cheap way out and used this codec, rather than actually developing and using a suitable intraframe production codec.

my facetime wont turn on in my settings for iphone 4......also itunes wont download new update 4.3.2.....plz help

Had exact same problem. Rang Apple support and various apple repairers. All of them said in effect, too bad, you'll have to lose everything since your last backup. It's a work phone with very important stuff on it and the latest backup was on a computer that had a virus. Convergence of crap :/
Happened to talk to a friend who said to try replacing the battery. Did that. Problem fixed. All data saved.
To all Apple support people: rather than say 'once it's in recovery mode you lose all data' try saying 'replace your battery and see if that works first'!!!!

  • CS6 New Sequence Settings - MBD & MRQ Help

Does it make a difference whether or not I set the MBD & MRQ in the New Sequence > Settings Tab or in the Export Dialog Box?
Do these same settings in the New Sequence > Settings also determine how Adobe handles video previews?
Currently I use AVCHD footage. Do I increase my color bit depth while working in my Timeline? If so, to what?
I was under the impression that whenever I import media into Premiere Pro it automatically up-samples media to 4:4:4 and 32 bit float color. Is this incorrect until I activate MBD & MRQ in the New Sequence > Settings Tab?
Any help would be greatly apprecated.
    Thanks in advance

    >I was under the impression that only RGB color space was expressed as 8bit, 10bit, 16bit and 32bit floating point.
There are pixel modes for 8,16 integer + 32bit float for both RGB and YUV.
    >YUV is actually the only one expressed in chroma subsampling numbers as 4:4:4 etc. RGB has three distinct color channels expressed in bits per channel (Red, Green, Blue) while YUV has three different components which consist of lumanance and two chromanance. Big difference between both. In all actuallity it really should be expressed as Y'CbCr. YUV is actually an analog system.
correct. there is no reason to put "4444" after RGBA.
here are most of the pixel formats supported by Premiere...
PrPixelFormat_BGRA_4444_8u is the standard format Premiere always used.
PrPixelFormat_ARGB_4444_8u is what After Effects used
    MaxBitDepth converts to, and uses,

         PrPixelFormat_BGRA_4444_32f
    For YUV:

  • Proper sequence settings for importing Canon Rebel T2i footage

Greetings, all. I searched the forum and didn't find this question answered elsewhere, so I thought I'd ask.
I'm using Adobe Premiere Pro CS4, version 4.2.1, and I'm trying to find the ideal sequence settings for the Canon Rebel T2i, which records in MPEG-4 AVC/H.264, with adjustable frame rate. I am running on Apple Mac OSX 10.8.2.
I've been editing with this footage for over a year now, and it's always been a struggle because I have to render all footage before I can even play it in Premiere. When first imported, the render bar above the timeline is yellow.
I'd like to see if I'm doing this incorrectly; to know if I have a simple sequence setting that's incorrect. What sequence settings should I use for my imported footage to start out green and not require a lengty render for video that isn't even edited yet?
    Thank you,
    -Matt

    >When first imported, the render bar above the timeline is yellow
I think this is written for CS5, but the concept should be the same

  • I need help changing the sequence settings to my video

I shot on a JVC Everio in 720x480 29.97fps. I normally shoot in 1080x420 so I know the picture quality isn't going to be AS good. Normally, when I drag my clips into the timeline Premiere changes the sequence settings for me and everything looks fine. However when I drag  this footage (the 720p) in, it becomes elongated and fuzzy.
I've messed around with the sequence settings by using DV-NTSC widescreen 48kHz and DVCPRO50 480i NTCS widescreen. When I drag my clips in they're cropped really close and they still look a bit off when I change the image to fit the screen (DVCPRO 50 looks a little bit better).
When I shot the video it looked crisp and clear on the monitor. I'm wondering if it looks strange because of the sequence settings and if so, what would be the best settings for this video.
The final video is going on youtube and I would like to make it look as good as possible!
Please let me know if you can help me out!

However when I drag  this footage (the 720p) in, it becomes elongated and fuzzy.
What 720p? You gave us two frame sizes. Neither of them are 720p.
1080X420 is a very strange frame size. And you say it is normal? A 720p video is 1280X720 non-interlaced.
Chances are very good that it is 480i video you shot with a frame size of 720X480 and it is interlaced.
That video should be interpreted with a Pixel Aspect Ratio (PAR) of 0.9091 (rectangular pixels that are taller than they are wide) - and what that means is that it isn't 16:9 it is 4:3 and should be edited in a 4:3 sequence. If, however, Premiere Pro is seeing the footage as having a PAR of 1.0 (square pixels) then you may have to right click on the clip in the Project Panel and select Modify|Interpret Footage and set it to D1/DV NTSC (0.9091)

    Hello All...
Back after a brief absence, things look a little bit different.
I'm trying to take a 16 minute mini dv video and compress it for use on the web. I'm interested in any suggestions you may have on settings for the video and audio tracks. I've tried using Sorenson 3 (15 frames, key frames set to automatic, 320 x 240) for video and IMA 4:1 (mono) for audio. The resulting video looked great but the file size came in at about 255 Mb.
    Thanks!

Thank you for the replies.  Everyone was correct about the jack, interface, and phasing problems.  I have been unplugging my motu audio interface and then using headphones at work.  I have not changed any detailed audio output settings in logic.  When I read that the jack might be a problem I tried switching headphones.  This actually helped.  I am using dre-beats headphones and they seem to be having issues with the mac/jack-(the phasing/panning problems.  I can use these headphones with other devices but not the mac.  I have to use ipod ear buds and the phasing seems fixed.  Hopefully this information is helpful to someone else.
If anyone knows how to correct this issue please let me know its difficult to know what my final mixes are going to sound like and I have had to keep bouncing everything into i-tunes- sync to ipod and then listen in my car radio.

  • Sequence settings for HD

what are the exact sequence settings for cutting 1080i60 footage in FCP? From my understanding; it's 1920 X 1080 with 59.94fps. But what fields should render first; upper or lower? I also need to know this info for using After Effects; I need to know the specifications so I can render my animations.
If there is anything else I should know, please let me know. thanks.

Open your preset in FCP or check your sequence settings and all that information will be there.

  • Sequence settings for 16:9

    Hi,
Just doing some PAL tests of 16:9 HD to 16:9 SD downconvert.
What are the sequence settings for this?
If I use the normal DV PAL 48khz, the VIEWER window shows a normal 16:0 ratio, but the CANVAS window shows a letterboxed 4:3 window. When I export this project, I get a letterboxed 4:3.
If I need to give my European client a 16:9 SD project, what are the sequence settings.
    Thank you kindly!

    Thanks Michael,
I still get images in FCP and QT exports that are letterboxed. Is that normal? I guess I assumed 16:9 FCP project windows and QT export movies would be all image and no letterbox within a 4:3 window.

thats way too vague of a question... best what?  quality? size? playback?
best quality then use high bitrate, small size use low bitrate.

  • New email settings for Mac Mail & 3rd party...

Anyone have instructions for new email port settings for users who are:
    -Using Mac Mail
-Using third mail email service provider (i.e., not sending and receiving through a Verizon address)
    Thanks,
Pardon me while I rant (I'm hoping a Verizon employee reads this)...
I use my third party email account exclusively. It's listed on my verizon account page. So, does verizon do the logical thing and send announcements to my third party email address (?) - of course not, they send them to the verizon address which I have never once used in years.
New port settings for some email users...
I got a phone call from an automated Verizon attendant telling me to check the following for new port settings for some email users:
    http://www22.verizon.com/ResidentialHelp/HighSpeed/Email/Setup+And+Use/QuestionsOne/124333.htm
I guess Verizon hasn't heard that there are millions of people using Mac computers, with Mac Mail as their email clients. And, some of these users are using obscure third party email service providers with names like 'Google'. On the above linked page, there are no instructions for these users.
I tried to use the online live support feature to get a clarification about using the new port settings. A polite gentleman with a long Indian name told me he couldn't help me and gave me an 800 number to call. After calling the 800 number, a nice lady in the Philippines (on a terrible voice connection) told me she couldn't help me - she transferred me to another department where I waited and waited and waited. I finally had to hang up.
I'm beginning to think that Verizon is a division of the United States Postal Service. Come to think of it, I get much better service from the USPS than I get from Verizon.

Are you using the Mac Mail client or Verizon's netmail?
