New Site created is hidden on Desktop (mac)

I did a newbie kinda thing today. I was playing around with
some new things in dreamweaver and decided to create a new
temporary site on the desktop of my mac. But when I created the new
site, I chose the desktop as where it would be located. When my new
site opened, everything on my desktop is now inside the site. I
have not found a way to get to what I created to delete it because
now it seems when I turn on my mac I am "inside" the temporary
site. Now, when I try to create another site, I get a message
saying that I am creating a site within a site and this could cause
problems. I am not sure what to do at this point. Any macheads out
there that can help me?

Create your local root folder somewhere else, then copy the
files that
were on your desktop in to this folder, go into Dreamweaver
and change
the site definition to us the new folder.

  • New site created in iWeb, Podcast works, but the Subscribe button doesn't!

    Hi All,
I created a new site in iWeb at http://www.adamonearth.com be great if you could help out a little! I am very happy with the site turned out!
But I have been trying to get the Video Podcast subscription link to work for a while now, but the Podcast Subscribe button on my Video Podcast page does not work. For some reason iWeb adds in /adamonearth.com after the website domain, like this... itpc://www.adamonearth.com/adamonearth.com/Video%20Podcast/rss.xml
So if you go to my site at http://www.adamonearth.com and click onto Video Podcast the Subscribe button is on there.
iWeb won't allow me to edit it either. Be great if you know of any ideas to amend it!
Also be great if you let me know what you think of the site overall.
    Cheers.
    Adam.

    Hi Tom,
Thanks so much for all your help, I really appreciate it.
I fixed the name of the site and called it 'Holly' I now have the Video Podcast link working but one problem, when you enter the website address:
    http://www.adamonearth.com
It goes to the Index Of/ page then you need to select 'Holly' which is the folder name for it to divert to the Welcome.html page.
I have put up a directory listing for you http://www.adamonearth.com/54512.tiff
I have tried moving the Welcome.html page above the Holly folder but that then does not link to the other pages correctly.
From what I can see I have done everything right this time, as the Podcast link works in iTunes now.
    Any help would be great.
    Thanks again,
    Adam.

  • SharePoint 2010 User Integration with Exchange 2010 New Users Created as Hidden and Later Unhidden not receiving email from SharePoint

When we have a new employee transfer to us from another department, their email is created and hidden until they actually make the transfer so they don't have two different email addresses in our global address list.  When the transfer is made, the
email address is unhidden, but then we are unable to send emails to them from sharepoint 2010 without doing an IISReset.  We are using Exchange 2010.  Does anyone have suggestions on how to alleviate this issue?

    Hi,
I have done a test, no matter the email address is hidden or not, we can both send email to the email address in the same domain.
How was the new employee from another department transferred to your department?
Whether sending emails to them need do an IIS Reset everytime.

  • New Site create - select doesn't work ok

OS Vista Home Premium. Installed DW CS3 and when create new site and setting up folders, button select does not work ok. It point to the folder one up not the present one. If c:/root/image and I'm in image the select point to root.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iCiKtVMhS5Y Is it problem with DW or Vista ?

Yup, I've had the same problem in CS3 and now CS4.  After much MUCH googling, the only thing I've found so far is that this problem developed for people after SP2 came out for Vista.  I haven't seen any fixes for it yet.  My only solution is to automatically create a folder inside the folder I want to use as my root....then I select that folder.  After going into that folder, the folder one level up, which is the one I want for my root is able to be selected.  After I get the folder I want set, I delete the dummy folder....or I name it images and use it as my image folder.
Problem is, if I want to define a default image folder, or spry folder I have to make dummy folders inside those subfolders too.....its a real pain.

  • New Site created in iWeb '08 (My experiences)

Ok...So after I installed iLife '08 I went ahead, after carefully making backups, and opened iWeb. Low an behold I started experiencing allot of the issues described on the board.
The one thing I did do that it doesn't seem like anyone else is doing is I decided to recreate each page seperately instead of trying to edit the old site. It sounds crazy and unnecessarily time consuming but it actually works.
I haven't had any issues with the new site at all and things are running smooth. I have another site that I manage that I'm going to start working on now and will relay that experience here once it's complete.
Lastly, I use Coda for post-editing functions, etc. and all went well on that end also.
    http://www.sonsofben.com
If anyone else has a site that was actually finished via iWork '08 please post it as well.

    Hi to everybody !
My iLife 08 package arrived last Thursday and I enthusiasticly installed it and started to open my domain file.
The template on which my site bases (www.kg-pharma.de) was purchased from lifestuff and worked fine so far.
Sure I klicked on "update file" and then saw my file just looking fine on first glance.
But the complete navigation menu was missing !!!
I checked in the inspector and found that the "show navigation bar" was not hooked.
So I hooked and the nav bar appeared, but on the completely wrong side (left side) and with unformatted text. looked horrible.
Formatting impossible, dissable the "show nav bar" also impossible.
I found a post that iWeb 2.0 will not take old templates from 3rd party (at the moment) and being aware that iLifestuff does not exist any more I decided to change domain into a original iWeb template.
So I started to insert new Site (iWeb 1.0 template "modern"), copied all pics/text from old to new and deleted old site.
That worked fine for a while, but after starting next morning I found that a number of pictures are missing. This problem became worse after reopening again, more and mor pics were missing.
Pasting them again did not help, bloody ****, what to do ?
I read that starting from scratch with a iWeb 2.0 will solve the problem, but NO WAY !
I made a new test domain with pictures and had SAME problem, first everything was fine, then after closing and reopen iWeb pics were missing !!
I have no other choice, then to wait until Apple will fix the problem, just cant waste my time with startint again and again from scratch.
Very disappointed that Apple lauched a prototype with such an obvious bug and let test the customers...

  • New site created with Muse

Why does my Muse site seem to "jumpy" when I navigate through it online and why are my navigation tabs larger online then when I view them in "muse"?
    http://www.roserwilliams.com
    Thank you
    Jody

I don't see where an exact size can be designated in the panel widget for any of the states. And now I have lost the "white" background behind the text on my site. I did not make any changes to the background on the master page. The white background shows up in Muse but not in any web browser. Also how do I get the page to scroll to show the full open panel?
What am I missing with Muse? Seemed so simple and it is just not doing what I expect it to.
    Please advise...http://www.roserwilliams.com

  • Publish New Site - Mobile Me Log In Error....

I'm just trying to publish a new site created in iWeb via my MBP to MobileMe, however when I try and publish the site, it asks me to sign in (or sign up to Mobile Me). When I select sign in, it takes me to the system preferences/mobileme and it shows me that I am already logged in.
When I go back to iWeb and try to publish the site, it again asks me to sign in.
Anyone have any ideas on this one ?

    From a MobileMe support person:
First, please make sure you have quit out of iWeb. Then I would suggest resetting your MobileMe System Preferences. To do this, open the MobileMe System Preference, sign out, and enter a random set of letters and numbers for the MobileMe member name and password, then press the Return key. After you receive notice that the name or password is invalid, close System Preferences, reopen the MobileMe System Preference, and reenter your MobileMe member name (without the "@me.com") and password. Then open up iWeb again and re-publish your site again.
MobileMe live chat support is now 24/7 — see this announcement.

  • Canot edit site created on old mac notebook on my new one

I created a site using iWeb on my old Mac notebook. Everything worked fine,
Then I bought a new MacBook Pro and gave my old Mac to my partner, after deleting my acount and all data on it,
I thought that since I have my iWeb data files on my iDisk and I am using the same .Mac account as before that I would be able to edit the existig site with my new notebook.
However, whenever I open iWeb on the new MacBook, the only option I am presented with is to create a new site. If I say 'cancel' then the programme shuts down. There seems to be no option for opening and editing an existing site. I have searched through all the help and found no answers.
Am I stuck with a website that cannot be edited and am I forced to re-do all the work I did because I upgraded my Mac? Is there no way to import that existing site into the iWeb on my new Mac?
This whole experience is leaving me feeling very frustrated. I would appreciate very much finding out how to be able to edit my existing site with the new Mac I bought -- part of the reason for buyig it was better performance on iPhoto and thus making it easier (I thought) to use iWeb.

Yes, unless you have a backup of the Domain file that was used to create the site.

Have you tried creating a new user account to see if that helps?

  • I bought a new iMac.  iWeb and all folders migrated over, no problem, but I cannot bring up my website - it only seems to allow for creating a new site.

I bought a new iMac.  iWeb and all its folders migrated over, no problem, but I cannot bring up my website - it only seems to allow for creating a new site.

You need the 'Domain' file in which iWeb keeps its data. This lives by default in (user)/Library/Application Support/iWeb. You need to locate it on the old machine and copy it to the same position in the new machine. Note that it is the Library folder in your Home folder, not the one at root level.
This folder is hidden on Lion and above; to access it, in the Finder go to the ‘Go’ menu and hold down the Option (Alt) key; the Library folder will appear as a choice. In Mavericks you can make it permanently visible - open your Home Folder the from the Finder's View menu, choose show View Options and check Show User Library.

  • When a new site is created can a user name and password be generated for it automatically?

I have a work request  from a manager that is asking, when a new site is created (via workflow), that a generic user name and password be created just for that site?
If it is possible I would like for it to be created at the same time as the site be being created or do I need to wait until after the site is created and then trigger a workflow to create the generic  user  account?
this account is only needed to do one thing.. upload documents to a folder.
of course there can be multiple  sites being built at one time and would like for this to be auto generated....  and possible be in a  hidden list so I can include the info in a workflow email letting the receiver of the email know that
they need to use this specific user name and password just for this site.

    Hi SPSAdminTC,
According to your description, my understanding is that you want to create sites and grant users permissions on the sites via workflow in SharePoint 2013.
Users are stored in AD, before you grant site permissions to them, the name and password have existed in AD users and groups. So, you need to add the users into AD before you grant permissions to them.
In SharePoint 2013 Designer, you can use REST API to create site and assign permissions to users. You can use Send Email action to send email to users and customize the body of the email.
More information, please take a look at:

    I hope this helps.

  • Iweb - does creating a new site delete the previous site?

I'm having a meltdown. Had my career website built via iweb some time ago, and tonight, was experimenting with iweb for a new website for another unrelated project. So I created a "new site," never suspecting that it would affect my previous website.
I wanted to see how the new site looked, so I published, and now my career website seems to have disappeared! Spent weeks building that site! (photos, films, etc.) Does iweb only allow for one website? It had a (slightly) different address when the new site published. But now my career domain name goes to the new unrelated website. The new site was a lark -- REALLY need my career website back up and running. Any way to find/retrieve it?
Is there no warning? -- if you go create a "new site" and go to publish, and the new site DOES replace the old, is there really no warning???

    scottnmarty wrote:
How do I get it back (as my iweb site and linked to my career domain site?)
Try publishing all the pages of your "career" site by clicking on its name in iWeb's left sidebar and choosing File > Publish Entire Site.
    See also this article:
    http://iwebfaq.org/site/iWebMultiplewebsites.html
...it says: +"When you will publish and upload to the same account entering your url in a browser you will be redirected to the site for which you hit “Publish entire site” last."+
    scottnmarty wrote:
And is there any way to save what I've done with the new website before I replace it with my old site???
It will still be accessible at:
    http://web.me.com/[YourMemberName]/[NewWebsiteName]
    But read this:

  • Can I still create new sites in iweb and publish them to mobile me?

Can I still create new sites in iweb and publish them to mobile me? Also Can the sites not contain movies or photos, or just not a full gallery?

You can have as many sites and domain names on a single MMe account. However, only one site can use the CNAME domain name forwarding while the others must use URL forwarding.
Multiple Sites with Domain Name(s) in a Single MobileMe Account
Here's how to have multiple sites in a single MMe account with one or more sites having a domain name.
    A. All sites are in the same Domain.sites2 files
1 - only one site can use the CNAME method of domain name forwarding and it must the top site in the left hand pane of iWeb.
2 - the other sites must use URL domain name forwarding which directs the domain name to the site's full MMe URL, http://web.me.com/MMeUsername/SiteName, or, if there is no domain name, just MobileMe's full URL.
    B. Each site is in its own Domain.sites2 file.
Again, only one site can use CNAME forwarding. This presents a problem since CNAME forwarding directs the domain name to the basic MMe account URL: http://web.me.com/MMe_Username/ which uses an index.html file in the root folder of the account, iDisk/Web/Sites. Each time a new site is published or an existing site uses the File->Publish Entire Site a new index.html file is created in that root directory, iDisk/Web/Sites folder, directing the browser to that particular site. This file is what the CNAME method uses to find the site it represents.
Therefore some steps must be taken to assure that the index.html file in the MMe Accounts root directory always points to the correct site. This can be accomplished is three ways.
1 - don't use the CNAME method. Just use URL forwarding . This, IMO, is the simplest method as it doesn't requre any additional effort on the user once the domain name has been set up.
2 - use the following method suggested by Wyodor in this topic: Is it possible to have multiple sites when using ur Domain name?
    In iWeb domainfile 1:
Create a dummy site : _dummy
    with a blank page.
Create your working site : Whatever
    Add pages
Publish both Sites to the same same location on the same server.
Your _dummy site is now the default Site.
    Check.
    In iWeb domainfile 2:
    Create/Use your CurrentSite.
Move a page to the top of the Site and back. Publish the Site.
iWeb will create a new index.html file in the root of the server and from now on CurrentSite is the default site.
    Check.
From now on, never move your Whatever Site to the top of the list in the iWeb sidebar and never change the page in the _dummy site.
Simply do not touch your _dummy ever again. And never forget that.
3 - use Ethmoid's suggested method in Using two sites - setting one up with separate domain? or republishing the entire site that uses CNAME forwarding. Just making a minor change and publishing the site changes does not create a new index.html file.
The entire site must be republsihing in order to get that new site.
Or keep a copy of the CNAME site's index.html file on your Mac and replace it manually in the iDisk/Web/Sites fodler when necessary.
NOTE: the CNAME method provides a shorter URL: http://www.DomainName.com/Site_Name/PageName. CNAME does not have masking.
The URL forwarding displays the full MMe URL:
    http://web.me.com/MMeUsername/Domain_Name/PageName.
With domain name masking that will be shortened to:
http://www.Domain_Name.com for every page of your site.
However, visitors will only be able to bookmark and enter at the first page of the site. If a page is refreshed the visitor is taken back to the first page. Also search engines will only be able to index the first page of the site.

  • Trying to create and save a new site for the Bayside Beat tutorial but am having trouble

trying to create a new site as explained by David Powers in this tutorial but I am already getting hung up.
It tells me to go to site and then to New Site. I do that and type in Bayside Beat on the first line. (as soon as I do that you notice a red X on the right side of Bayside Beat.)
I'm told to Browse for my folder which is on my desktop and click ok. When I press SAVE another window pops up.
This time it tells me another site is named Getting Started and I'm asked to enter a different name.
Question, where is this other site that is named Getting Started? What name do I call it now!?
So I rename the site name San Francisco and press SAVE and another window pops up.
This time it tells me I may have further problems still...What am I suppose to do?

Do you mean, are the contents still in the original folder  or was it transferred to a new folder?
Does it make a difference if it’s in the original folder?
