New site not publishing. 2 separate MobileMe accounts, iweb sites involved

*April '09 I purchase Mobile Me for use to develop a website for a friend.* I use his email, but my credit card to make the purchase, and set up the website from iweb on my macbook.
http://web.me.com/samaniegosinclair/hector/AbouttheArtist
*A month ago I purchase an iphone and buy mobileme for my own personal use (with same credit card from first mobileme).* I set it up on my macbook and sign into mobileme from system prefs with my new username and password. Then I open iweb because I want to create a website for my own use.
*The friends website draft loads in iweb. How is this possible if I am opening iweb with a totally different account?*
*I try to create a new site, my own site (so it shows up second in the index to the left), and then publish.* It's been over 30 minutes, but all text on left side index is still red (not blue which indicates published status, right?), but there's a filled-in white circle next to the title of my site (doesn't that mean it's finished uploading?)
*Then I decide to search for my site.* According to the help file it should be http://web.me.com/[YourMemberName] for the first site. Well this is my first site on this account, but not the first site I've created using iweb (hence why the friend's site shows up first?).
*So I type in http://web.me.com/margie.hatch (margie.hatch being my username) hit the return key and this shows up: http://web.me.com/margie.hatch/hector/AbouttheArtist.html. WHAT? How'd that happen?*
Where do I even start to sort this out and get my new site published? Must I terminate the first mobile me account?

You're not opening iWeb with a toally different account. iWeb opens a file on your computer :
~/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites2
iWeb publishes to the MobileMe account you entered in the System Prefs.
The purchase of an iPhone has nothing to do with it.

  • You do not currently have a MobileMe account

Actually I DO have a mobileMe account and aperture has used it before but apparently forgot.
When I go to upload a webpage from Aperture, I get this:
You do not currently have a MobileMe account configured on this computer. Click “Sign Up” for a free 60 day trial account, or click “Configure” to enter your MobileMe name and password.
If I click Configure, of course MobileMe in Prefs comes up and all is well. I tried to login via Safari but that doesn't help.
Anyone have any ideas why Aperture doesn't like my MobileMe account?
If there's a trashable plist I don't know which one it would be.

  • Publishing to another MobileMe account

I am creating a site for a friend in iWeb. I want to publish that site using his MobileMe account. The Site Publishing Settings does not allow me to change the MobileMe account from my account to his. How do I do this?

To add to Wyodor's suggestion on a separate user account on your Mac for the other MMe account - set up fast user switching so you can quickly move between those accounts.

  • Publish without a mobileme account

Can I create a web site with iWeb and publish it to a web hosting service? Or do I need a mobileme account?
    Thanks!

  • Publish to another MobileMe account

I am using iWeb to develop a web site for a third party who has a MobilMe account. Can I publish the site using iWeb from my computer to the third party's MobilMe Account?
    Thanks,
    David

Yes, you can. You will have to log in to his MMe account with the System/MobileMe preference pane. Then click on the site's icon in iWeb and set the publish to to MMe:
It might be easier for you to create a new user account on your Mac and use it to work on the client's web site and publish to MobileMe. Just set up fast user switching in the System/Accounts preference pane.
This way you don't have to log out of your MMe account, in to the client's each time you want to change which site you work on and publish.

  • Publishing to multiple mobileme accounts

i have two mobile me accounts and publish websites through iweb on both of them. i've been managing these sites using different user accounts on my computer. i would like to be able to do this using only one account. i installed iwebsites and that allows me to open multiple sites in iweb, but as far as i can tell i can only publish them to one mobile me account. is there anyway i can publish each site to it's respective account? it isn't practical to have another user account on my computer, because all i use it for is iweb. plus all the work i do for both sites is done on one account.
if anyone could help me, it would be much appreciated!

No. Incorrect. If you have the family pack you will have one main .Mac username and password that you log into .Mac with. You can then set-up all the sub-divisions of the family pack account, so that each person using the sub account can have their own username and password to log in with.
You can have one user on your machine and all you need do is log out of your .Mac account under System Preferences and then log in to the other account by entering the correct username and password and you then get into the other account and you can then publish to this account.
There is no need to have different users set up on the computer that are linked to the .Mac accounts. You can do it if you want to, but alternatively just have one user and then log in and out of the different .Mac accounts and just publish.
At one time, I had two .Mac accounts as I wanted to use CNAME twice, so if I published one site I would just log in and out of my .Mac accounts until I had the correct account to publish to.

  • I have one paid mobileme account, few days ago I have done transition to iCloud and all my iDisk, contact... gone. Today I tried login to iCloud application on my windows pc but can not, it said "this apple id is valid but is not iCloud account"

I have one paid mobileme account, few days ago I have done transition to iCloud and all my iDisk, contact... gone. Today I tried login to iCloud application on my windows pc (64bit) but I can not, it said "this apple id is valid but is not iCloud account". I can login on website icloud.com but can not login into iCloud application installed on pc. What's wrong?
I have tried another free apple ID and logged on. That's funny when I can login with free account and can not login with paid mobileme account!!!!!!

By the way - the only reason I downloaded iCloud is because Apple deleted the backup option from iTunes.  Since iCloud doesn't work, I guess we have no way to protect our iTunes music collection.  Absolutely stupid.

  • Can not publish to iWeb 3.0.2, maybe a sync problem, how to solve it?

My earlier MacbookPro died and I got a new one. Since then the iWeb does not work at all. I have a valid Mobileme subscription till spring next year, but iWeb does not show the existing sites (which are in the other computer) and does not start publishing and does not want to sync the existing sites into the new one. I can publish to Homepage, though.
The only action iWeb does is to take me to the Sync window, it confirms that I have a valid subscription, but thereafter nothing happens.
This must be a problem with sync settings, I gather, but where do I find it, and the key to solve it?
I do NOT want to sync all information from this computer to mobileme or viceversa, otherwise I loose info stored from the previous computers to my iDisk and mobileme spiderweb.

You need iWeb's Domain file from the other computer (your old MacBook Pro) — here's a diagram of where it usually resides:
...But since it "died" and presumably inaccessible, see this Apple doc on How to back up MobileMe data. It says:
“Any websites you have published with iWeb should still be available within iWeb. iWeb stores everything in a Domain file, normally located in the ~/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder (although it can be moved). If you no longer have this file, you can view your currently published pages and manually recreate them within iWeb, but *there is no way to import published pages back into iWeb*. You can manually back up the Domain file, or use Backup to back it up.”
By the way, here's the normal procedure when your old computer has not died:
_iWeb: Modifying your site from another computer_
iWeb: Publish to your MobileMe account from more than one computer

  • Publishing 2 separate websites

I am sorry, I have searched and searched and still have not found the answer I am looking for.
I am trying to publish 2 separate websites using iweb. The first website I have made was for a friend, using their own personal domain. When I go into my MobileMe account his site is listed as my own personal domain.
I would like to publish a second website just using my MobileMe domain and don't know how to do that. Everytime I click on publish to MobileMe, only the first account publishes (I think) and can be viewed.
How do I publish that second website to the generic url that MobileMe uses?

You can separate before publishing. Just be sure to make a backup copy of the original Domain file and move it to another located before starting the separation workflow. Using iWebsites duplicate the domain file and rename the copy for one of the sites. Open the duplicate with iWeb thru iWebSites and delete the site you don't want in that file. Do the same with the other domain file, i.e. rename it for the site it represents, open with iWeb and delete the site that doesn't belong.. As you can see in the screenshots that I posted you can have multiple sites, all named in iWeb with a name that indicates what the site is about but not necessarily the same name as the published site.
You will end up with two domain files in that iWeb folder: Site 1 and Site 2. When opening a site to work on always go thru iWebSites. Just easier and safer, IMO, that way.
Once you get the sites separated and published keep current backup copies of those domain files. I've created an Automator backup workflow, inspired by Varkgirl's original efforts, that will copy the User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and the domain files in it to the Desktop replacing any previous copy there. You can open the workflow in Automator, as described in the Read Me file, and change the destination of the backup. After each edit run the workflow to make sure your backup is current.

  • MobileMe account

For some strange reason, iCal refuses to believe that I've set up a MobileMe account....
I'm using iCal v3.0.7, running on 10.5.7, on a G4/PB. When I try to refresh, publish or unpublish a calendar, I get an error telling me my MobileMe account configuration is not correct. When I go to iCal->Preferences, the "Synchronize my calendars with other computers using MobileMe" check box is unchecked, telling me "You have not set up your MobileMe account".
I've tried resetting my sync data, sync history, keychain, deleting iCal preferences and ~/Application Support/iCal, etc. I've also created a new User account, but the same situation persists. Seems this is something to do with iCal..... but what?
There is an archived (unresolved) thread describing something similar, but despite trawling numerous Mac forums and googling, I've not found any solution.
    Any clues, anyone??

I should add the obvious bit of missing information - of course my MobileMe account IS set up, signed in, and syncing correctly

  • Questions about syncing multiple MobileMe accounts on one iPad

You can set up multiple MobileMe accounts; however, only one MobileMe account at a time can be used for Find My iPad and for syncing contacts, calendars, bookmarks, and notes. (iPad User Guide p. 32)
    Okay.
If you've done this already (created multiple MobileMe accounts on your iPad), can you please tell me how syncing two accounts to one device works in practice?
What prevents the merging of contacts and calendars between two MobileMe accounts and one instance of the Calendar and Contacts apps?
As a matter of functionality, and assuming there is a way to avoid merging this information, how does one access separate calendars and contacts from separate MobileMe accounts in the Calendar and Contact apps?
    Thanks!

  • Two macs -- one iTunes account -- one mobileme account

ok, so i hope i can get my question across correctly. thanks in advance for those of you that help. i have a macbook pro, along with an iPhone and an iPad. my husband has an iMac and an iPad. we both want to be able to use the same iTunes account but we both want to be able to sync our iPad's & iPhone to our own computers. we both also want to sync in mobileme. my questions:
    1. how do we sync both computers to one iTunes account?
    2. do we both need to have a separate mobileme account?

This might be just the place to post my question.
First, I'm on Windows Vista ... not a mac ... and I do not own MobleMe ... wondering if someone has suggestios for me concernign sharing an iTunes account between me and my wife.
Currently, my wife and I have separate Windows Logons ... and we each have our own respective iTunes account.   She syncs her iTunes with her iPhone, and I sync my iTunes with my iPad and iPhone.
I'm interesting in merging our separate iTunes accounts into one for the purpose of not having to purchase duplicate apps that we each will be wanting in the future.  (She doesn't know it yet, but she's going to get her own iPad for a surprise present.)
Looks like we are going to repurchase all her paid apps and place those into my account ... (she has fewer paid apps than I have, and that seems to be the least expensive way to start off.)
    So... Here's my question:
Is it better to have her sign off permantly from her installed iTunes Account, and sign back on as "me" ... then download all the apps I have already bought that she wants?   ( I.e.  have two separate iTunes installations - both using the same login ID and password ... but personally configured to our liking).
    ... OR ...
Is it better to delete her installation of her iTunes Account and just start using mine ... again configured to her liking by checking which apps should install her her devices and which should be installed to my devices?
    =============
Right now, she has her own music and I have mine ...
I'm open to any suggestions about PROs and CONs of each method ...
    Thanks for sharing

  • Remote management between MobileMe accounts

I have a separate MobileMe account from my parents. We're both running Lion. Is it possible to get my parents computer to show up under "SHARED" in my finder as a Back to My Mac device? • Publish separate sites to one MobileMe account?

I manage several sites from my laptop, which runs iWeb '08. I have just started using iWeb '09 on my desktop at work, and absolutely love it - not to mention that my work computer doesn't freeze up whenever I try to work on complicated sites. I would like to publish the sites I'm working on at work to my MobileMe account, which my other iWeb '08 sites are published on. If the sites have different names, will that be a problem? Or if I publish will it only put up the sites from my work computer and delete everything else? This is terribly confusing. I would like to keep everything up until replacement sites are made, and this would solve my problem so immensely! Any input you have would be huge!

Perhaps I was not clear in my first post...
I have one MobileMe (.mac) account, which I currently have five sites hosted on. These sites were built in iWeb '08. I have had no problems with hosting multiple sites on MobileMe, so I'm not sure what you mean when you say that this is not possible.
I have built a sixth site in iWeb '09 on a different computer than my other five sites are built/stored on. I would like to publish this site to my MobileMe account as well - just add it to the roster, if you like. It has a different name than my other sites, so presumably if I sign into my MobileMe account on that computer, it would publish the site alongside the others, correct? I just don't want to publish this new site and for some reason have it delete the other five sites already being hosted.

  • IWeb '08 Site - Published to MobileMe Account - Not Viewable by Others

I'm new to iWeb. I created a simple site with a few pages, and then "Published All" to MobileMe. When I view the site, it looks fine. When others try, they get the "Are you looking for something on MobileMe?" page. I have looked at the "site inspector" to be sure that the site is not "private".
I've been reading and reading and can't find a solution. Is there a trick to this?

I got to your site using both of those addresses.
People are probably missing a dash or missing the correct capitalizations. If any of those capitalized letters are typed in lowercase you get that "looking for something" page.
If you want people to be able to type in a simple web address to get to your site, you probably need to acquire a simpler domain name ( from Go Daddy for instance) and then point it to your mobile me account.
I have two domain names registered: www.phelpssculpture.com & www.phelpsculpture.com ( one has two s's and one has only one) these are registered with Go Daddy and point to my mobileme website:
    http://web.me.com/phelpssculpture/Site/home.html
So on a business card I can put the simpler PhelpsSculpture.com and people reach my site by typing that into there web browser. The capitalization doesn't seem to matter on the GoDaddy shortened address, but it does seem to matter if you miss capitalize the mobileme address.
    Hope this helps,
    David
