  • Trouble publishing -  new site on new computer, want to replace old site.

I got a new a new mac with iWeb 08 - was previously using 06. Re-built website on new computer, logged in to my account and hit publish. After loading all pages etc, got message "could not publish website". Have a feeling it may have something to do with account now being MME and not dotmac....??? I want to replace the existing website with the new one but it's not working???

If you want everything that's on your current iPad onto the new one, then you can first copy all purchases off the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. You can then backup your current iPad and restore the new iPad from that backup (a list of what is included in a backup is in this article - it excludes music, videos, synced photos). As the backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their settings and content, for the restore to work completely you'll need all the relevant apps in your computer's iTunes library - otherwise the restore won't be able to install the apps and therefore their content (which is one reason to do File > Transfer Purchases, if that doesn't copy them over then you can re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519).
The restore won't copy passwords onto a different device, so you will need to re-enter your email, router, and any website passwords onto the new iPad.
Depending on what you want to remain on the iPad, you can then either leave it as it is or log out of your account on it (tap on it in Settings > Store) and then wipe it via Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings.

  • New SIte FIle/Old Site/Synchronise Issues

    Hi All
Okay so, my .site file became corrupt...again! So I built a new site file from the web content folder, however GoLive now wants to upload 19000 items every time I want to add an updated file via the upload button, if I synchronize with publish server it finds only the updated files and uploads these.
But synchronizing every time takes ages.... is there a way of making the site file "learn" that it is the same as that at the publish server location so that I can just click the upload button and upload only new or edited files....

Yes - going from memory, but the command is under something like this:
Site > Publish Server > Sync Modification Times > All

  • Do new sites override old sites?

My computer crashed, and I lost all of my web files. I have recreated a small business website, but I have no plans on recreating several photo albums that are still up and active.
If I publish my recreated iWeb files, will they override all of the current files that are published (and I do not have the original files for)?
    THANKS!

I am uploading with iWeb. I suppose it goes on my MobileMe account, but then a couple of the sites have their own domains that are pointed to my sites.
Do you know if they get overrided? Is it an all or nothing thing? Or will it just update the appropriate files?

  • Downloaded new version, replaced old version, now says no space available and won't launch. I need to know how to get old version back

Usually if I try to download something that is too big a message comes up saying that there's not enough space. This didn't happen when I tried to download the latest version of Foxfire. It asked if I wanted to replace the old version and I did. When it was done, it said 0 bytes available. The icon came up with a circle with a line through it. I get a message that says it cannot be launched. If I go into my finder and click on it it says it is not supported. I need to know if I can get the old version back because I've lost all my bookmarks etc. Unless there is something else I cn do to get it working.

If you tried to install Firefox 4, it will not run on OS X 10.4 or PPC Macs.
There is a third party version of Firefox 4 that runs on OS X 10.4/10.5 and PPC Macs, for details see http://www.floodgap.com/software/tenfourfox
If you prefer, you can get the latest version of Firefox 3.6 from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html
Mozilla are working to prevent Mac users with non-compatible systems from getting the notification about Firefox 4, and also not displaying the "Download Firefox 4" button on http://www.mozilla.com

  • New photos replaced old photos??!!

    Hello,
I imported pics from a recent vacation from an older Fuji digital camera that we don't use too much anymore. I was looking through my pics the other day and saw many duplicates of the same vacation pictures in other non related 'rolls'. The only thing I can think of is that the new pics over-wrote the old ones because they had the same file numbers?? Is there a way to get the old pics back? Luckily I do have a backup DVD that I burned a couple months ago.... is this the best way to get them back?
    Thanks for your help!!

YIKES!! Please disregard. I actually just solved this problem. I needed to rebuild my thumbnail cache. This worked!! whew!

  • Muse: deleting earlier versions of site and old sites

Delete the actual files from storage location.
On opening Muse if you click on file link then Muse will ask that file is not in location and if you want to delete this from recent file list.
    Thanks,

  • Why is new music replacing old on nano plus

I put music on my nano plus using windows media player. then i'll disconnect my nano plus and delete the music off of the library on windows media player, then if I try to sync more music on my nano plus from my library , the songs that I deleted from the library will be taken off of my nano plus and only the new songs that I just put on my nano plus will be on it. I want to know if this is a problem with my nano plus or with windows media player and if i can change it. PLEASE help me!

brianbuckey wrote:this probably sounds stupid, but I don't really know what you mean by "transfer". do I do that on wmp? and I also don't know windows explorer is.
To transfer files is to move them from one device to another i.e. from your PC to your player. WMP synchronises the contents of the Sync List you create with the files that are on your player. If you put Albums A, B & C in your Sync List in WMP and select Sync then you will end up with Albums A, B & C in your player. If you had Albums D, E & F in your player before then they will be deleted.
Windows Explorer is the program that opens on your PC when you double-click on the My Computer icon on your Desktop. When you open an Explorer window to look at the contents of your player you can then move/copy the files around as if they were on your PC's hard dri've.

  • Hard drive dead with iweb site inside.  new iweb site replaced my old site!

Is the old site a gonner? I had published the site with a personal domain, hosted with mobile me. When adding a new site, iweb replaced my old one. the old one was my business portfolio. the new one is just a single property advertisement.
why dont I see my old site on mobile me? (even before I published this new one)

I don't believe so. Not unless the new site had the same name as the old/business site. Mount your iDisk and check inside the Web/Sites folder for your personal and business site folders.
What type of domain name forwarding are you using? If your business site is in a different domain file than the personal site the last published site will have the minimal URL for your MMe account: http://web.me.com/yourMMe_AccountName/.
You may have to change your domain name forwarding to include the business site name in the URL: http://web.me.com/yourMMe_Account_Name/Business_SiteName/.

  • After publishing new site,  old site keeps showing

I just published a new site,  paid and activated it in Business Catalyst WebBasic+ plan,  replaced the DNS settings, and the old site keeps appearing.
One funny thing is that in the site manager,  all the good files are there but when I try to edit the Hostname record in the dropdown menu of the Homepage the structure of the old site appears ?????. When I publish the site again,  the old site keeps appearing.
I cleared all my caches in all my browsers, same result.
    Any ideas ?

    Good morning Aishvarya,
    No everything is fine now.
    The issue has been resolved,
    Thank you.

  • Added new site unable to return to old site

I had a site using my name. I changed a HD in my iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo. Opened iWeb to add a new site. Added the site with photographs. When I went to the original site, the new site took its place. I am unable to remove/restore to the old site using the my name.

I changed a HD in my iMac 2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo.
Did you get the Domain.sites2 file from your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder on your old HD before changing the drive? That's where your first site would be for iWeb to use. If you didn't get it do you have a backup of the HD so you can get it from that? If not then you've lose your first site and will have to recreate from scratch.
When I went to the original site, the new site took its place.
So you named the new site the same as the old one, correct? That's why it replace the original site. You must name each site differently if you want them to coexist on the server.

  • Can I upload new pages and CSS to my server without disrupting my old site?

I've been tasked with updating a website. I'm quite new to Dreamweaver, but am reading forums and viewing tutorials on lynda.com. What i'm wondering is, can I upload a CSS file and a few html pages to our godaddy.com account via ftp and not disrupt what is currently there? I believe the previous site does not use any CSS. I just wanted to be able to provide a link that isn't connected to the current site to let the client see what progress has been made. So the site would be for example.
    Old site home page (www.cars.com)
Test page with no link from site, just a private link emailed (www.cars.com/test)
My questions are would loading a CSS to the site interfere with the current site? Can that /test page navigate to other pages that I have linked to them if I upload those as well (www.cars.com/test/maps)? Should I create a new directory in godaddy.com's file directory to keep these separate?
Thanks for all the help. Any links or suggestions would be great. If I can provide more info that would help, just let me know.

    I like to make a sub-folder called TEST.  yourdomain.com/TEST/
You can upload your new site to the TEST folder and it will not interfere with what's already on the server.
When you're finished debugging the new site, you can move contents from the TEST folder over to the root:  yourdomain.com/  and then delete the TEST folder.

  • Open old site in new iWeb?

    Hey guys,
I just upgraded, but I can't seem to open the old site in the new iWeb. Please tell me I don't have to recreate everything...
    Thanks

Your iWeb '06 site is stored in a domain.sites file which is in Home Folder/Library/Application Support iWeb.
Before you attempt to launch iWeb '08, make a backup of this file and store it in a safe place - preferably on an external drive or CD/DVD.
Clicking this file will launch it in iWeb '08 and it will be converted to domain.sites2.
Once you have done this, there is no going back - hence the backup if the conversion is not successful.
If you do not have this domain file you cannot launch your site in iWeb. Although your site is published to a folder and exists on .Mac or your server, you can't reverse this process - you have to have the domain file.
