New Skype Number

I just purchased a skype account/number. While I'm able to call out I'm unable to receive any calls. Any idea how long it takes after a purchase to be able to receive calls?

Your Skype Number should be available to receive calls almost immediately.  Please contact Skype Customer Service directly to sort this.  Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
As you know you must contact Customer Service, skip past Step 2 of the instruction and proceed to Step 3, Continue Support Request. You may also skip past in Step 4 where you will be referred back here to the Community; no need to do this as the Community is where you started!

    Additional notes since posting the above information: Skype is aware of continued and sporadic problems with the website when contacting their customer service agents. If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and - most importantly - choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented. Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also impede reaching an agent.

  • My new Skype Number is no longer in service?

    I picked a skype number when I set up Skype.  It is [redacted to protect privacy].  Now it says that it is no longer in service.  Help

  • New Skype Number 'Pending' for days

    Hi all, 
    I'm based in the UK but have recently purchased a USA Skype Number.
    Despite having already been charged for the new (USA) Skype Number, it's been sat in 'pending' status for about 5 days.
    Any suggestions? Skype customers support is non-existent hence the post here.

  • Setting up new Skype number - area code missing fr...

    Hi.  Wanted to set up a Skype number with the area code, 316, from my hometown of Wichita, Kansas.  And, but, that area code doesn't appear on the pulldown menu.  Any help?  Have a feeling I'm being dumb and missing something obvious, but that's the trouble with being dumb -- the obvious isn't.

    Unfortunately, if Skype cannot obtain blocks of numbers from the telephone service providers, then that is how there can be holes in the lists of available numbers.  There can be several legitimate reasons why this occurs.  As Joanna noted, above, we need to check back on occasion.

  • New Skype Number Not Work

    I just bought a local US number to use it in China.  When my friends try to call my skype number from their US phones, it showed "user busy" and got disconnected immediately.  The call was never connected at all.  I wonder if there is anything wrong.  How can I fix this problem?  Thanks.

  • Does my new skype number work on my android mobile?

    I guess Skype's description of Skype number is confusing. I have Skype on my android phone. I suppose it always on in the background (yes? no?). I just bought a Skype number. So, am I correct in understanding that if someone calls that Skype number, it will ring on my mobile? If I am NOT correct, how do I get that to happen. I don't hang around my computer most of the day. I am out and about with the mobile. And normally Skype is not open on my computer unless I expect to get or make a call.

    Nevermind. I now know it should work but it doesn't.  The problem is that skype number is not working on my samsung galaxy s4 with android 5.01. Any ideas on how to get it working? Otherwise, I've wasted $60.

    Two things could be occurring here:
    If you are experiencing website issues, try accessing the Skype website using a different web browser than you typically use.
    If you are successfully working your way through the order process, and are not finding the area code you prefer, this is due to numbers not being available for any number of reasons out of Skype's control.  Skype Numbers are indeed not available everywhere.

    Sorry; apparently the blue type, which is a link, is not showing for you in my post further above. Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
    If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented.

    As a matter of fact, yes: Skype Numbers are associated with the account under which the subscription was started.  Skype does not permit Skype Numbers or any other subscription, or credit, to be transferred from one account to another.
    So, the best thing to do would be to cancel the number you do not need, contact customer service to explain the situation and to request a refund , and start a new Skype Number using the Skype account for the family member you wish to have a Skype number.   You or they should use their own payment method -- the Skype anti-fraud filters will catch your credit card being used for more than one account, and bar the payment; as a security measure, you may find your own account becomes suspended!
    All that said, if the family member does not use Skype and have their own account, that presents another wrinkle.

  • Calling my Skype Number results in busy signal.

    I tested my Skype number from my cell phone an my landline, and I get a busy signal each time. I have to do a consulation via Skype, but now I cannot. I just updated my 3-month subscription and my account shows that the number is active. Should I get a new Skype number? I need this to work.

    Please check this first: in the Windows version of the Skype client software,
    Tools -> Options -> Calls -> be sure that Allow calls to my Skype number(s) from... anyone is ticked or checked in -> Save.
    Please try your tests again, ensuring that your mobile phone is not already signed on to Skype at the same time.

    cancelling the Skype Number subscription you currently have; and
    starting a new Skype Number subscription.
    Be sure to explain the circumstances when you please contact Skype Customer Service to request a refund as Skype Number subscriptions are not refundable.

    When I go to Manage Feature >> Settings, it says that my next payment shall be made in August, 2014 whereas I dont want the recurring payment to occur.

    Simply cancel the subscription.  Your Skype Number will remain active until the end of the three month term - in other words, Skype subscriptions do not cancel effective the date of cancellation; subscriptions cancel on what would have been the renewal date.
