New Skype UI is literally painful to look at

So this is the new:
and this is the old:
All this blue is literally making my eyes bleed. Especially that large blob of intense blue in the top left corner. And in the group chat, the names are barely visible (what is this extra light blue on top of white?) without selecting it, which kinda defeats the purpose. Everything about the old layout is more streamlined and easier to see, in the new one messages meld together with no real indication of where ends what. If this really is the "new layout" that will be forced upon us then I'll just switch to something else when there'll be no alternative.
Oh and I had to add a space to the image links because this site is retarded. So just click on it and remove the space (space in URL is %20). Sorry about that, but image hosting sites are apparently "not allowed in this community".

The blue dot is too small and not contrasty enough; for people without color deficiencies, RED is better (I would suggest at least two color schemes set by the user's profile: the current one, "high contrast," "color deficient"); The light purple vs light blue vs pale gray in some text area is difficult to distinguish: again, more contrast with the background and more difference from one another is called for.
And something else I've always wanted: when I go to a thread, at least have the option of ONLY showing articles I've not read yet (that is, just blue dot articles).

To my big disappointment the new layout of the chatt conversations looks much worse that the previous version.
I use SKype everyday for work and this new layout makes it very hard to foolow long conversations.
Please add an option to get the previous version back.
If it works liek this our team has to swicth tools to something better.

  • Everybody hates new Skype, why won't you revert?

So, this forum is full of people that think this version of Skype, sucks big dong. I'm not talking about certain people that don't like it, I'm talking about threads that if is about Skype sucking, only negative feedback is given. People hate your damned version of Skype, 70% of your users hate new Skype, 10% just takes whatever it's given and 20% doesn't know how to complain, yet. Don't you understand this Microsoft, people hate YOUR BIG PIECE OF y'know what. Nobody likes it and still your greatest answer is: - Manually go to [this] link.- Then download Skype- Have it complain about newer versions- Have pain uninstalling newer Skype- Have pain installing older version of Skype- Complain little less about Skype, because it's still Microsoft's and it still sucks.- Complain on forums about Skype and watch them dodge your feedback like it was pure lava. If there was a light bulb which shines once user complains about Skype, it would've changed into defusion reactor. So why not swap to that older Skype? What was so bad for it? You can't stand users not have Skype bound with Microsoft or what?!

You know, I am not a hater; but the new skype looks like it was designed by a call center in India.  Total lack of intuaitive UI;  it is so user unfreindly that EVERY time I use it I feel lost.  The Android app requires you to scroll through your entire contract list to get to a contact.  It does not have predictive dial contact search - a basic feature of even the most simplistic mobiles for over 10 years.   Microsofts attempts to create a unified program model reliant on IE and it is rediculous.  I am sure that the uninspired pinheads that designed this software call thier mothers every nigh and tell them all about the wonderful success they had in thier corporate positions; as "developers"  in charge of snuffing out the usability and friendliness of what used to be a flagship of digital communication.   While I am on the topic I really despise Microsoft for what it did to Windows ..with thier ridiculous Windows 8.  Dont they understand that people who actually use computers to PRODUCE (rather than consume) content usually have multiple screens and minimal coherent user interface is the lifeblood of productivity.  BUT NOOOO  Microsoft "developers"  (deveolutionists) make the UI buttons big enough to still allow an epileptic in a Grande Mal to use a computer.   Why did you do that ???   You have blanketed the same functionality with a ridiculous UI that has to be "peeled back" anytime I want to do something useful.   Once again I am sure the unispired corporate coffee drinkers call mom every night and tell her how they are changing the world.....

  • I hate the new skype and i wish i culd go back to ...

My Skype got updated to the latest version(7.0) and I absolutely hate it.I use Skype everyday for at least 3 hours to talk to my friends and the new version is just awful and I cant keep using it. After about 6 hours on the new version I decided to downgrade to the prior version (6.2) winch I think was Skype best for now.It didn't work well (I couldn't read group messages unless I was managing the group and the chat was a little buggy) but I dint care because anything is better then the new 7 version.
Today for some reason it log me out of Skype and I couldn't log in into the old Skype so I had to update to the new Skype which made we very upset.
I do realise that the old Skype was old and the devs tries to make it look newer by following the win8 trend and that some people will like the new Skype and they are not as conservative as i am so i suggest the simple solution of giving people choice. Make the new version the default layout but make it possible to change it in the options so users which don't like the new UI can revert back to the good old one.

The new Skype is probably designed to match the Windows 10 style and feel over all three platforms it will be running on.
Skype versions below 6.16 (or 14 ) is retired, 6.2 is below so you cannot log in using that one.
    This one however will:

Hi, patmills123, and welcome to the Community,
Once more, as noted above: Here is a link to the instruction on how to contact Skype Customer Service via their secure portal: Contact Customer Service
Additional notes since posting the above information: Skype is aware of continued and sporadic problems with the website when contacting their customer service agents. If you experience difficulty reaching Skype Customer Service or find yourself redirected back to the Community, please try again using a different web browser and - most importantly - choosing a different path through the various drop-down menu options presented. Also, look to approve a pop-up dialogue box which would connect you to start an instant message chat with a customer service agent. If you have pop-ups blocked in your browser settings, this will also impede reaching an agent.

  • How to remove skype from macbook pro running osx 10.5.8 , and then reload newer skype?

Need to start fresh with new Skype. Especially need to get it right. Please help.  Tks.  ~eric.

    Uninstalling Software: The Basics
Most OS X applications are completely self-contained "packages" that can be uninstalled by simply dragging the application to the Trash.  Applications may create preference files that are stored in the /Home/Library/Preferences/ folder.  Although they do nothing once you delete the associated application, they do take up some disk space.  If you want you can look for them in the above location and delete them, too.
Some applications may install an uninstaller program that can be used to remove the application.  In some cases the uninstaller may be part of the application's installer, and is invoked by clicking on a Customize button that will appear during the install process.
Some applications may install components in the /Home/Library/Applications Support/ folder.  You can also check there to see if the application has created a folder.  You can also delete the folder that's in the Applications Support folder.  Again, they don't do anything but take up disk space once the application is trashed.
Some applications may install a startupitem or a Log In item.  Startupitems are usually installed in the /Library/StartupItems/ folder and less often in the /Home/Library/StartupItems/ folder.  Log In Items are set in the Accounts preferences.  Open System Preferences, click on the Accounts icon, then click on the LogIn Items tab.  Locate the item in the list for the application you want to remove and click on the "-" button to delete it from the list.
Some software use startup daemons or agents that are a new feature of the OS.  Look for them in /Library/LaunchAgents/ and /Library/LaunchDaemons/ or in /Home/Library/LaunchAgents/.
If an application installs any other files the best way to track them down is to do a Finder search using the application name or the developer name as the search term.  Unfortunately Spotlight will not look in certain folders by default.  You can modify Spotlight's behavior or use a third-party search utility, Easy Find, instead.  Download Easy Find at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
Some applications install a receipt in the /Library/Receipts/ folder.  Usually with the same name as the program or the developer.  The item generally has a ".pkg" extension.  Be sure you also delete this item as some programs use it to determine if it's already installed.
There are many utilities that can uninstall applications.  Here is a selection:
    AppZapper
    Automaton
    Hazel
    CleanApp
    Yank
    SuperPop
    Uninstaller
    Spring Cleaning
Look for them at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
For more information visit The XLab FAQs and read the FAQ on removing software.

  • Migrating to new Skype id + importing 1200+ contac...

    Hello,
I am new here to the forums however a long time Skype user. I recently ran into an issue which at first I thought would have been a minor infraction (mainly from my misinterpretation of bulk contact requests) but now has snowballed into a big problem.
I recently decided to migrate from one Skype account and move over to another. Following the normal Skype contact backup and import process, I proceeded to move my contacts over to my new Skype. Once I was sure everything was ready to announce my transition, I then updated the profile on my old account whereas I had changed both my Skype display name and Skype mood with updated info to suggest my contacts to start adding my new account.
While still logged into my old Skype account, I then opened a second Skype instance to log into the new account. From there I was able to welcome contacts as they added my new Skype account (since the process is "instant" from the receiving end after importing - I didn't want to be rude and ignore anyone lol). There were about a dozen contacts that I had clicked the "Resend contact request" link per chat window as needed (to get my "regulars" added back quickly).
By now a few hours had passed and my numbers were slowly growing. I knew I had a ways to go considering having 1200+ contacts, I assumed it would take a while. I also sent out a tweet about it to let my followers know of the change. It was a little more than 3+ hours in on my new account that I had experienced the infamous automatic sign out. After confirming by attempting to login on Skype.com, performing the password reset, and starting the account recovery process, I knew at that time my account had been restricted. I then submitted the support form for ownership verification and later discussions started with a support agent. I had explained my situation (but in greater detail than what I've shared here in the forums) and even re-read the Terms of Use just to make sure that I hadn't overlooked anything and concluded that other than an influx of contact additions (as my interpretation of the process for importing contacts was that incoming requests weren't considered bulk as I wouldn't be sending requests but rather receiving them) that I hadn't violated the Tou policy. I was later given a generic response with that familiar "canned" message response.
The message lightly describes how Skype protects my privacy and security by restricting accounts as soon as they receive information of suspicious activity. In the message, it declared that suspicious activities had happened in accordance with my current usage of which is dependent in Skype's Terms of Use via "http://www.skype.com/en/legal/tou/" and that my account will be kept restricted.
I felt this lightly made decision to be unfair considering the events leading up to it's restriction. I was very truthful and sincere when I made my case but felt it had fallen on deaf ears. From here I then decided to not give up and tried the live support chat session as an alternative measure. I presented my view of events, describing everything I could remember and to my surprise, I was greeted with a lovely support agent that handled my appeal. About mid-way through the chat session, just after letting the agent know I had added the few regulars using the "resend contacts link" per chat window, the agent told me that I should only add 1 or 2 contacts a day. I was bothered by having to be limited by 1 or 2 a day but simply replied back that I would do just that. Nearing the end of the chat session, I was then instructed that the agent would handle my issue and email an update shortly thereafter. She was really pleasant to deal with.
The following email was the response I received...
    Hello <NAME REMOVED>,
Thank you for contacting Skype Customer Service.
I understand that you were not able to use your account. I apologize to hear about the experience. Let me help you out the best way possible.
To inform, Skype has strict security measures that are programmed and systematized that sensitively detects any unusual, out-of-ordinary and suspicious activities on all accounts. Once there are activities detected which are not aligned with our Terms of Use, it automatically restricts the account for safety and security measures on our system and for the users itself.
After we verify the ownership, this is the time that will intensively review the account. We check the reason for its blocking, or what were the cause. We take considerations with orders, payments methods, calls, SMS, log-ins made, IP used, reports by other users, Node, device used, email address, webID's, Skype Manager, etc. Everything is actually recorded in our system.
After careful review and investigation, we follow certain protocol, process and procedure if account can be subjected to lift its restriction. However, in your case, it is regretful to advise that we will keep the accounts restriction as per security measures we have here on Skype.
We at Skype value the security of all accounts very highly and as such we are only able to reinstate the status if our process permits. Given the mentioned situation, we highly recommend for you to create a new account for you to enjoy Skype's services again.
You can also take time reading our Terms of Use to check what things can affect account suspension and to serve as a guide so that you won't get the same issue in the future again.
    Hoping for your kind understanding.
    Best regards,
    <NAME REMOVED>
    Skype Customer Service
I feel that I've reached a dead end with Skype support. I explained how I cannot create a new account as the name was directly tied into my online presence and simply changing to a different name on a new account was simply out of the question. Not to mention that if I had done so, we would most likely end up right back in the same predicament that landed me with having my account restricted. I had even asked about alternative methods for importing mass contacts to not trigger an automated system check that might deem it suspicious but was not given any recommendations (aside of just creating a new account). What I found curious about all of this happened to be how it was just the one account that had been restricted whilst my old account remained active and still signed into Skype.
I am unsure with how to proceed which is what brought me here in these forums. I've spent the past several hours reading related threads and posts while searching for an alternative method but I've since felt that I've exhausted further action to take.
My platform is Windows 7 64Bit w/SP1 and use both the latest 7.x build of Skype and on rare occasions, 6.21.0.104. I have no trouble logging info my old Skype account. If you need additional information, I will try my best to provide. Please accept my thanks in advance for any advice given, it will be appreciated.

Myself I feel I reached a dead end. What will now happend with my credit ? It feels bad that I might loose the money I already added to the account.
