New software and my mini
I am a new Mac user. Of course, today is Christmas and my family purchased me a Mac Mini and an M Box 2 with Pro Tools LE capabilities (pro audio). However, they did not check to see the requirements to run the software and hardware. On my Mac Mini it says 1.66 GHz Intel Core Duo processor 2 MB L2 Cache and the new hardware says I need G4 processor, 933 MHz or higher..so I figured I am good there. The problem lies here, the new hardware says I need 768 MB of RAM, my Mac Mini box says I have 512MB of DDR2 SDRAM. Is 512MB of DDR2 SDRAM more than 768 MB of RAM? Please let me know, and thank you!
Well, what is recommended (768 Mb) is 256 Mb more than what is currently installed in your Mini. There are several ways to rectify this, but since you are going to be using a relatively demanding program (Pro Tools LE) to master music in one way or another, you should probably opt to upgrade the memory to 2 Gb (the equivalent of 2048 Mb). Depending on who you talk to the Mini can be difficult to upgrade memory on, since the top and drive trays have to be removed to upgrade the memory. There are 2 SODIMM slots which take PC 5300 667Mhz SODIMMS. Memory of this type is relatively inexpensive (Newegg.com or Macsales.com). You have two 256 Mb SODIMMS in the Mini right now, and you can replace just one or the other with just a slight hit to the video system, or replace both with the same size SODIMM (512, 1024 Mbs) with no hit to the video system. The video system in the Mini takes some of the system RAM, and if the SODIMMs are not matched a very slight hit to the video performance occurs. If you order SODIMMS, it is only important to have lifetime warranty on the SODIMMS, personally I have used 7 different makes of SODIMMS, and have never had a failure - however other people have claimed failures. Macsales.com has videos on replacing the RAM should you decide you are capable of the task. Good luck!

I updated my computer to the new software and now the iPhoto has a circle with a line through it. When I first try to open it the pop us says: "You can't use this version of the application "iPhoto" with this version of OS X. Version: 9.2.1" When I try to update, it pops up to say "These apps cannot be accepted by your apple id - These apps were already assigned to another Apple ID and they will be available in that Apple ID's purchases list. If you don't have access to that Apple ID and want to receive future updates, you will need to purchase the application". I checked and there is nothing under the "purchases" in my App store. Then will say "update unavailable with this apple id - This update is not available for this Apple ID either because it was bought by a different user or the item was refunded or canceled." Then the third pop up says "We could not complete your request. There was an error in the App Store. Please try again". Just want to know how do to fix.
After I upgraded to Mavericks I was also having this message when I tried to update. There was a previous post about this problem which offered this simple solution which worked for me:

Got it! Thanx. What I did was go to my account, check that they had my new ID and Password which they did, then hit reset button. All fixed. -

I recently updated my MacBook Pro to the new software, and now my iMessage and my FaceTime are not connected with my phone number like it is supposed to be. How do I get them to match so that I would be able to use my cellphone number on my notebook?
To reset any OS X program just go to the folder and trash the affected files.
Open a new Finder Window
Click "Go" in the above status bar
Click and HOLD the "option/alt" key and you will see "Library" now show in the above list
Click Library while still holding the option/alt key and a new window will open with all of your system files
Go to the preference file (NOT Preference Panes)
Locate a file named <com.apple.FaceTime.bag.plist>
Locate another file named <com.apple.FaceTime.plist>
Locate the file <com.apple.iMessage.bag.plist>
Drag the files to the trash
Delete the trash
Close FaceTime and iMessage if not already closed
Relaunch FaceTime and iMessage from Applications folder
This should reset the program back to default. You will have to put your information back into the program but it should work.

So I just bought a used MacBook from Amazon with OSX 10.5.8. I am trying to install new software and operating system, but I don't have the passwords to the Users set up in the computer. What do I do?
Put your install DVD into the optical drive (CD/DVD drive) and reboot. Be sure to either use the disc that came with your Mac, or, if you installed a later Mac OS X version from disc, use the newer disc. As soon as you hear the boot chime, hold down the "c" key on your keyboard (or the Option Key until the Install Disk shows up) until the apple shows up. That will force your MacBook to boot from the install DVD in the optical drive.
When it does start up, you'll see a panel asking you to choose your language. Choose your language and press the Return key on your keyboard once. It will then present you with an Installation window. Completely ignore this window and click on Utilities in the top menu and scroll down to Reset Password. After resetting the password use Startup Disk from the same menu to choose your hard drive for startup and restart. -
hello i have a trouble with my i phone... i was trying to update a new software and at the end it says that there is some error and i cannot turn my i phone bak on all it shows is itunes logo in the midlle and usb cable with an arrow pointing at the logo. If anyone knows what it is and what i should do please get back to me as soon as possible many thanks.

My iphone 5S is stuck on a screen displaying the itunes symbol and a charging cable. I tried connecting it to itunes and updating it to the new software, and backing it up but it keeps saying unknown error 4005, Also when I first tried backing up my phone on my computer it would begin the processes then half way through it would say IPHONE has been disconnected, now it won't recognize it or anything. what can i do? This is a brand new phone!!!

I was able to locate a support article for the error you mentioned. The following steps may help you get your device back to working order:
iOS: Restore errors 4005, 4013, and 4014 - Apple Support
You may see one of these messages if the device unexpectedly disconnects during the update or restore or iTunes couldn't tell the device to go to the restore state.

Try these steps to resolve the issue:
Install the latest version of iTunes.

iPod updates 2 touch with the new software, and from the update they are not connected with Time phase. They appear calling but never they enter the calls. I make calls with other users and if one connects but in these two not from the update
I use Firefox 95% of the time, and there's no problem with flash content (and I'm still at .55 - downloaded .64 last week but I haven't got round to making the change yet). At the rate they've been changing it recently it may well be out of date already .
I've been trying it in Safari, too with no problems apart from You Tube, but that's because I'm blocking Google cookies.
One thought does occur - if your Flash preferences are set to block all Local Storage, it may be that the problem site is trying to use Flash cookies (LSOs). I had this problem recently with the BBC iPlayer streaming content. Little Snitch notified an attempt to connect to a new URL - emp.bbci.co.uk.
If I disallowed it, no streaming; when I allowed the connection, it still wouldn't stream, so I did a bit of digging and came to the conclusion that it was trying to set a Flash cookie. When I unblocked, lo and behold - streaming resumed as normal.
I now have LSOs blocked in a more subtle way that lets the site think it's being set (but it ain't) and the streaming still works.
As for permissions repair - always repair from local; the permissions on the original disc will have been superceded by updates and new installations of Apple software.
DU needs to be reading the packages on the HD, not the (now out of date) install disc.
The recurring repair messages are normal and don't mean anything's wrong. As long as the final message is 'repair complete' there's no need to dwell on it.

I was updating my Iphone 4 with the new software and while it was doing the download and update, an error window appeared and it said it couldn't update and now my phone is frozen with the plug in icon. I have tried to reboot it, pushing the power button and the home button and nothing is working
Try DFU Mode Restore. Open iTunes on computer. Connect iPhone to computer with USB cable. Hold both Home and Power button, after exactly 10 seconds release the Power Button, keep holding the Home button until iTunes recognizes iPhone in Recovery Mode, usually about 20 seconds time. If the iPhone screen is black, blank this is DFU Mode. Click the Restore button of iTunes.

I plugged in my ipod to my computer and I had the option to sync the new software and I did. Just as it was done itunes couldn't recognize my ipod and my only choice would be to restore back to store settings but I would loose ALL my data
