New software is completely ruining my iPhone 5

The new iPhone software Apple has come out with is completely destroying my iPhone. However, because my warranty has expired, Apple will not do anything to rectify the situation. Every time I go into an Apple Store they tell me there is nothing they can do short of me replacing my phone for $269. I refuse to pay them that money for a 'refurbished' phone because the damages are not my fault. I have taken it into several stores and asked them to open it up and tell me if the damages were self-inflicted, and each time I have been informed that there is no water damage and no shifted pieces from excessive dropping. My phone is in perfect condition but my music, messages, camera, mail, and other apps are barely functioning properly. I am tired of Apple employees giving me stupid solutions that never work or will cost me money. I have tried to escalate my complaint numerous times and have not received the proper assistance. I am just wondering what I can do to get Apple to understand that their customer service is awful and relay my complaints yet again without having to pay them $35 to access their online or phone support.

If you have taken the device to "several stores", are you referring to Apple stores? If not, the having someone else open the device will void any post-warranty support for the device from Apple. What did you do to try and rectify your problems? Stating that things are barely functioning properly does not adequately define the issues so another user here could try to assist you with troubleshooting. However, if you worked with Apple and they are saying that you need a replacement device, then there is the possibility there is some type of hardware fault. Given the fact that it occurred when your device was updated, could indicate it was something that came about when changes were made to how the software runs on the device.
Apple does not participate in the forum. The only alternatives that  you have are to contact Apple Care using the link at the bottom right of these pages. You could post on their feedback page, but they do not respond to those posts. It seems you are not willing to pay, so Apple care is out of the question. Your only alternative to escalate the issue at the Apple Store is to speak to a manager.

    Delete some apps or stuff off your devices. The 'not enough storage' doesn't refer to iCloud space but space on your device.
    If you have a bunch of downloaded music from iTunes, delete it to make room, you can always redownload it after the update. If you have movies, I'd go for them first since video takes up tons more room than audio (delete less movies is the same space as lots of music)
    If you have apps you don't use, you can delete those, as long as you don't mind losing any data associated with them.

    The newest software is 6.0.1, iOS 5 is the old software. The update numbers go up not backwards, you have the latest update if you are showing 6.0.1  Hope this helps!

    I was just wondering if this had happened to anyone else, two days ago i tried to upgrade my iPhone to the new software, 4.2, and my iPhone literally died on me! Now all that appears on my iPhone's screen is the connect to iTunes sign. When i do connect it, a message comes up saying my iPhone is in recovery mode and needs to be restored. Unfortunately though every time I try this the restore fails. I have called apple support and now have to go up to the Apple Store in Sydney and get them to give me a new phone. As i said above i was wondering if anyone else has ever had this problem.

    Additional things to try.
    Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
    Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.

    Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.
    Try This - Renew IP Address:
        •    Launch Settings app
        •    Tap on Wi-Fi
        •    Tap on the blue arrow of the Wi-Fi network that you connect to from the list
        •    In the window that opens, tap on the Renew Lease button

    If the sign does not go away it has not completed the restore. So you are incorrect when you say it "keeps completing the restore" if that message is still displayed.
    Do you get an error message? If so, what is the error number?

  • I have an old apple ID that is associated with an email I can no longer access, but over half of my apps are associated with this Apple ID. Any idea on how to reset the apps to go with my newer Apple ID without completely wiping my iPhone?

    I have an iPhone 4s. The email I need to use is completely locked because Windows believed someone else was trying to use my account (another reason Windows and I don't seem to get along). Anyway, I think my little sister may have accidentally clicked "Forgot my Password" while trying to download an app on my iPad that was under the same ID. So, an email was sent to my old hotmail account that is lockedried unlocking it, but the alternate email that was listed was an old one of my moms and she can't remember what her username was. I tried answering security questions on my Apple ID to maybe get my password to reset that way, but - since I made this account when I was about 12 or 13 - I can't even begin to remember what the answers to the security questions are. (And before anyone gets on a pedestal about how I was too young to be doing something like this, I did have parent supervision and wanted something like this of my own, so lets stick to the ACTUAL problem). So, main problem here. I now have about 30 app updates that are under an account I basically have no access to. I've deleted the apps from my home screen and tried downloading them with my new Apple ID, but it shows as if it's stored in the cloud and will only let me download it from the old Apple ID. Is there any possible way to dissociate my apps from my old ID and associate them with my newer one WITHOUT completely resetting my phone?

    You can not merge accounts.
    Apps are tied to the Apple ID used to download them, you can not transfer them.

    It sounds like your phone is not recognzied in iTunes anymore. I recommend the troubleshooting steps from the article named:

    2. Check the USB cable

    Since a few days when I try to copy or move files on my macbook, I often get an error message saying "This operation could not be completed because an unexpected error occured (error code -8062)". And then it just quits the copy or move.
    I searched a lot on the internet, but only found solutions for cases you cannot empty the trash due to this issue.
    I tried those solutions for my trash and that helped after some trying.
    However, I still have the problem with copying and moving files.
    I even cannot install new software now, as it has to copy itself to the programs-directory, and gives the same error-message.
    Who can help me??

    My user-account is administrator, I use a 13" Macbook Aluminium (Late 2008). Mac OS X 10.6.8 CPU 2Ghz Intel Core Duo, RAM: 4GB 1067 MHz DDR3.

    Tips I received so far (thanks to A-Mac via Twitter http://www.a-mac.nl and Remco Kalf http://www.remcokalf.nl/)
    - make sure you have at least 10% of your harddisk in free space (I had only 5%).
    - do a PRAM-reset (http://support.apple.com/kb/ht1379)
    - perform a hardware test (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1509)
    - make a complete backup (with for example Carbone Clone Copier, see http://www.bombich.com/)
    - after complete backup: use diskwarrior (boot from Diskwarrior DVD, first perform diagnostics, then perform "Rebuild" which rebuilds your file directory).
    So far I only cleared up some space on my HD, and already the problem occurs less.
    Still, I will go through the other tips too.

    You have 2 solutions:
    1 - You can use 2 differents icloud account
    2 - You use the same account but you don't sync yours contacts.
    You configure that in  Settings > icloud
    You activate or desactivate what you want.
