New SSD in T430, Windows not loading, tried everything...

Hi there,
I bought a T430 about a week ago. I'm not completely inept with computers: I successfully added another 4GB of RAM with no problems.
Then I wanted to replace my HDD with my SSD. I know the SSD works because it was in another laptop. I put it in an external dock; hooked it up to my T430; cleared it. I have kept the HDD as a safe backup, which I have used repeatedly since. I also made a Windows recovery disc on a CD.
I cloned the HDD onto my SSD using EaseUS software and told it to make it bootable. It didn't for me, so I blamed the software.
I then used Acronis True Image to make a bootable copy of my setup on a USB drive. I turned the computer on with just the (blank) SSD and tried to load the USB. The computer refuses to recognize the bootable copy point blank. Just brings me back to a screen asking me which drive I want to boot from repeatedly.
Alright then, I said, clone the HDD onto the SSD and then try the USB bootable. Did that, but it made no impact. Same problem as above.
Okay, let's try a fresh install on the SSD by using the recovery disc. This is when the real fun happens. I get to the Lenovo-themed System Recovery menu, and I click Next. Then I get an alert box saying "This version of System Recovery Options is not compatible with the version of Windows you are trying to repair. Try using a recovery disc that is compatible with this version of Windows." What? I only made it this morning. I don't think there has been any major updates to Windows since then! (Just in case, I made an even newer recovery disc tonight. I got the same error.)
I then cleared the SSD and tried the recovery disc on the clean SSD. Same error again. The recovery discs aren't working, the system is not recognizing the USB copy, and the cloned (and supposedly boot-ready) SSD won't boot.
What's going on? All I am trying to do is replace my HDD with my SSD, and run Windows 7. I didn't think it would be this hard
Some extra points:
- I am inserting the drives. The computer can read that it's a Samsung 840 series SSD.
- There is no problem with the USB. My desktop can read it just fine, and sees that there is 29GB of stuff there.
- I have changed the boot order in the BIOS to load the USB (or CD) drive first.
- I have disabled the secure startup option in the BIOS.
- I have tried Legacy, UEFI, mixture of both, etc etc.
- Yes, it's a legit copy of Windows. It came with the computer a week ago. There is [i]maybe[/i] an issue that I'm looking to reinstall Windows 7 onto the SSD, but the only recovery discs that come with the computer are Windows 8... but then how do I get Win 7 onto my SSD?
- I have searched the forums. None of the suggested solutions (mostly listed above) have worked.

I had one extra hiccup. The Windows 7 disc could not locate the activation/product key on the BIOS. Neither could any of the semi-questionable programs that I downloaded. So I could not authorize Windows 7.
I called Lenovo. They said it was my fault for using Windows recovery discs instead of Lenovo recovery discs. (Heaven forbid! It really should not matter. It is a terrible approach on the part of Lenovo that their initial recovery discs gave me an error about licensing, but yet they seemingly don't support the stock Windows recovery discs.) Anyway, after I told the agent - in my polite way - that this was a ridiculous scenario, she offered to send me out Lenovo recovery discs.
I accepted. They arrived today. I reinstalled Windows, and now everything is running just fine.
In case anyone in the future reads this thread: ask Lenovo to send you out Win 7 Pro recovery discs, and use them after you install the SSD. It makes the process much easier.

    Unfortunately you got caught up in the minor miracle of Rosetta.  Originally licensed by Apple when it migrated from the PowerPC CPU platform that it had used from the mid-1990's until the Intel CPU platform in 2006, Rosetta allowed Mac users to continue to use their library of PPC software transparently in emulation.
    However, Apple's license to continue to use this technology expired with new releases of OS X commencing with Lion (and now Mountain Lion).  While educational efforts have been made over the last 6 years, the fact is that Rosetta was SO successful that many users were caught unaware UNTIL they upgraded to Lion or Mountain Lion.
    Workarounds:
    1.  Purchase a used Mac that will run Snow Leopard (with the optional Rosetta installed) and continue to run FCE on that Mac (you can actually use Screen Sharing with a "headless" used Snow Leopard Mac Mini and use the 27" screen from your iMac to view and work FCE in the Mac Mini environment);
    2.  Upgrade to an Intel compatible version of FCE and hope it converts your existing projects to its newer format correctly.  There is much debate that the newer version of Final Cut are eliminating many needed features; for example Final Cut Pro X vs. Final Cut Pro 6 -- many users are staying with version 6;
    3.  Install Snow Leopard (with Rosetta) into Parallels and then install FCE in the Snow Leopard environment:

    I think that the card reader may in fact be defective, but it just doesn't make sense if I have already used it fine before. I've tried everything on this Apple support page, thank you though.

  • Firefox is not opening the "Show All History" Window, images are not loading and part of the new tab default page is not loading up

    For about two days now Firefox has been unable to load up images, even in its menus, and the menu buttons do not open up their corresponding windows.
    The page that comes up when opening a new tab has the first three webpages displayed, but the second three underneath are blank and the boxes are cut off.
    Things like youtube work fine. What could be the problem?

    Create a new profile as a test to check if your current profile is causing the problem.

  • INSTALLING PSE6 ON NEW IMAC (PURCHASED DISK) WOULD NOT LOAD

    I have a new mac computer, OS 10, and loaded the trial version of photoshop elements 6 and then purchased the program. I tried to install using the disk, and got error message, called help desk, they got it loaded after 2 + hours. Now when I click to open the program, it takes 10 to 15 minutes if it even opens.....any ideas??

    Thank you for your help! In reading another site, I got a recommendation to run a cs3clean program (http://www.adobe.com/support/contact/cs3clean.html). That worked, although I lost my In Design program, adobe flash, adope shockwave and adobe reader. There are several warnings that this would happen.
    I reinstalled all programs (including the new retail pse6), and everything seems to work now. Will not be trying any more trials.

    then see what is broken and causing problems and attempt to either reinstall it!
    Steps for Normal startup:
    1.      Click Start, and then click Run.
    2.      Type msconfig, and then click OK.
    The System Configuration Utility dialog box is displayed.
    3.      Click the General tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services, and then click OK.
    4.      When you are prompted, click Restart to restart the computer.

    Hey all. Just got my mobo back from newegg (had to get a new one shipped to me, PCI-E was broken in other one)
    Well this one appears to work good, but now windows doesnt load when i turn it on
    Everything passes in the POST, windows goes to its like loading screen.. then i see a quick flash of the blue screen of death  (like a millisecond, i cant read what it says) and my computer restarts.  Do i Need to reformat because I installed a new mobo? It's a K8N Diamond Plus, same as my other one. Thanks

    If you've the current with same hardware configurations then you need not to reformat it just do windows reinstallation unless if your windows is totally corrupted then my suggest is to do a fresh copied for the windows. gd luck.
    P/s: please create your own rig in details including the PSU and Bios revision and put it in your signature.

    Starting a few weeks ago my six month old ipod stopped being 'seen' by itunes. I can see it on explorer no problem. I have followed all the steps in the support pages, apart from re-installing windows.
    However I have found it doesn't work on my main computer of either of my two laptops, which makes me thinks its an ipod problem NOT a computer/windows problem.
    I have a shuffle which is working fine on itunes on the same computers.
    The only thing I cannot do is restore the nano - because you need an itunes connection to do this.
    Can anyone help please?

    I'm in the same boat. My Nano did work with iTunes 7 for a while. The only glitch was that it couldn't update the iPod's software. Since it stopped appearing in iTunes a few weeks ago I've tried everything I can think of (except sending it away) to fix the problem (restart/reset, reinstall iTunes (6 & 7), check services, format comp., change drive letter, etc...). It won't appear in iTunes on other computers either. Further I've run the iPod diagnostics and everything gets a green light. Hardware, software, me? I haven't a clue as to what the problem is. Argh.
    I like the music on my iPod but it would be nice if I could listen to something different! I'll have a chance to stop by the store it came from soon but in the mean time...does anybody out there have ideas?

    I have been using Firefox without major problems for years but the latest update refuses to even run on my computer and I've tried everything short of reformatting. Is it possible my OS (Windows XP) won't support it?

    A possible cause is security software (firewall) that blocks or restricts Firefox or the plugin-container process without informing you, possibly after detecting changes (update) to the Firefox program.
    Remove all rules for Firefox from the permissions list in the firewall and let your firewall ask again for permission to get full unrestricted access to internet for Firefox and the plugin-container process and the updater process.

  • I installed a new SSD, My ipod is not syncing with the original HD

    I recently installed a new Crucial M4 SSD. My iTunes library is synced to my HD (/e:) My iPod touch 4g wants to sync with my SSD and does not recognize the original HD is still in my computer.  How can I get my iPod to sync with the original HD that contains my iTunes library?

    When all the media is in your iTunes library/on the computer:
    - Connect the iPod to the comp;uter and make a backup by righ clicking on the iPOd under Devices in iTubes and select Back Up
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
    Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not included synced media like apps and music.
    An iPod can only sync with one iTunes library. gtthe iPod seen the new SSD/iTunes as a new iTunes library.

    The apps I downloaded will not load anymore. The video also didn't want to load yesterday, but today the video will load fine, but the apps still wont.
    I have reset by holding down home and power. I have downloaded another app to see if that would work. But still not loading. It is brand new got it 2 days ago, but bought it factory sealed off of ebay, so don't think I got any warranty working for me. So this is my last hope. Any suggestions??

  • ZEN Sleek photo not recognized tried everything HEL

    i bought my zen photo sleek today, the software installed, the device was recognized. I started transferring files which stopped at file 97 and didn't do anything. I clicked cancel which made the tranfer window freeze and not respond anymore. Task manager didn't open so i rebooted my computer. After this the device wasn't recognized anymore. since then i've tried EVERYTHING i could find on this forum but failed. all setting seem to be ok, i reinstalled al the software twice, downloaded the hotfixes etc. nothing works. I mailed customer service and am wiating for a reply, anyone any ideas in the meantime ?

    Apologies, I just noticed this was a Sleek Photo, rather than the original Sleek.
    I'm guessing the Sleek Photo must be PlayForSure, so for some reason Windows is not picking up the MTP device driver. You can try forcing Windows, through Device Manager, to look in the directory C:\WINDOWS\INF where the MTP driver information is located.
    Failing that, have a look at the link "problems with connecting using MTP firmware" in the FAQ post.
