New T530 -- Are the classic "hardware beeps" gone?

I just received a new ThinkPad T530, and had kind of a silly question. I know Lenovo has been making a lot of design changes lately to pull all the "IBMness" out of their ThinkPad line, and I ran into something interesting that's way less obvious than the keyboard or trackpad changes:
On IBM ThinkPads and Lenovo ThinkPads up to the T520, there was the option to have the 1990s style IBM "hardware beeps" that occurred on power events such as plugging in the AC, removing the AC, and putting the computer to sleep or waking it up. I can't find this option in the BIOS or the Lenovo power management tools at all. Am I missing it or was this one of the subtle changes that were made? Not a huge deal -- I just kind of liked them for those times you're plugging an AC adapter in under your desk and want to know if the laptop is getting power.
I guess you could call me a die-hard ThinkPad user, but I actually like the new keyboard. I'd love to see Lenovo keep the new keyboard but change the layout of the keys back to the old one. I'm slowly getting used to it though...

The power beeps are indeed gone.  I'm not sure the reason why the designers decided to do away with them completely, instead of leaving the option in BIOS setup and simply changing the default from ON to OFF.  In any case they are gone and I haven't heard anything about bringing them back.

  • What are the optimal hardware specification requirements for Adobe Photoshop CS6?

Greetings to the staff and users of this forum,
As the title clearly stipulates, the question is "What are the optimal hardware specification requirements for Adobe Photoshop CS6?".
Unfortunately, I am not satisfied with the specs specified on the website, as I believe they are far lesser than the specs needed to run the program at its full potential. This belief comes from my experience with the product Adobe Photoshop CS2 that I currently run on my computer. In effect, Ps CS2 cannot fully run without inducing time lags on my computer (i.e. when using 500 pix diameter smudge tool/ using liquify gallery), even though my specs are already higher than those specified for CS6 (mine are: Intel Core 2 Duo 6300 1.86 GHz, 3 GB RAM). I can assure you that I get those time lags even when almost in safe mode (only system main processes running) and that my computer is clean from any process/virus that could lower its performances.
I've been through two chat rooms and four telephone operators to always get the same answer: the specs on the website.
If any user here could provide me with proper higher specs, I would really be grateful.
    Thanks,
    phdwengr

  • Where are the older BIOS versions gone?

    Hi
A few weeks back, I've upgraded the BIOS on my Pavilion G6 1001sq to the latest version (F66). I noticed that the laptop is running considearbly hotter since then and I want to revert to an older BIOS version. When I go to the updates page on the HP website and click on "older versions available" I can only see the F66 version on the page I'm directed to ( http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/previousVersions?softwareitem=ob-115746-1&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en&os=4... ), although a long list with many versions was available till recently. Where are the older versions gone?

Unfortunately, I do not know where they have gone. HP is working on issues with the suport and driver servers at the moment.
Since your notebook does have the UEFI Diagnostics installed, you should be able to rollback to the previous version that was installed. Use the firmware management option to do that.

  • What are the minimum hardware requirements to install both MAC OS X Snow Leopard and Windows on a Mac

    Hi,
I want to install both MAC OS X Snow Leopard and WINDOWS on a same PC. Is it possible..then mention the minimum Hardware support to install both Operating Systems on a PC. I am waiting for relevant reply from Apple Support Team.
                                            Thank You.

I am waiting for relevant reply from Apple Support Team.
Then you'll be waiting a long time. This is a user to user support site hosted by Apple. The Apple Support Team doesn't respond to posts here.
For Snow Leopard, you need an Apple computer with an Intel processor of any flavor. Here are the specs from the Apple Store:
    System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel processor
    1GB of memory
    5GB of available disk space
    DVD drive for installation
You'd have to contact Microsoft to find out what specs its OS requires, but I imagine the above would cover it.
Also note that Snow Leopard is only licensed to run on Apple branded equipment.

  • Aperture is asking if all new photographs are the same person

Whenever I go to Faces and I'm presented with the Unknown Faces panel it asks if all the faces are the same person, every one.
I have tons of photos identified with many different people, but when it comes to unidentified pictures it only suggests one person.
    I'm running Verson 3.2.3
I'm hoping someone knows the solution because it's very annoying

I am having this problem as well. I have created an Aperture 3 Library that contains photos from three sources:
12000 photos imported from an iPhoto '09 library that had about 275 faces identified; files are now referenced files
6000 photos imported from an Aperture 2 library; most files stored as referenced files
800 photos imported directly into the Aperture 3 library for the first time
Aperture 3 successfully imported all the faces that I had identified in iPhoto, but now it refuses to recognize any more faces. It makes no suggestions at all. When I go into Faces mode and select a person, all the suggestions are random faces that are nothing alike, but the suggestions NEVER include the person whose face it actually is. If I go into a second face, then it will make lots of random suggestions that DO include face 1, but again NONE of the suggestions are the selected face. It seems like the suggestion engine is actively EXCLUDING the face in question.
Problem continues after upgrading to Aperture 3.01.
    Anyone else seeing this problem?

  • Where are the 7.7 patches gone

    Hi,
in the SAPNet I only see the patches for 7.8, where has 7.7 gone?
2 hours ago they were ther???
    Jan

At this very moment I don't see anything in that directory, the browser says
    no data available
    when opening the page.
Either there are issues with the permissions on the backend side or they are really uploading new things and restructuring the download area.
It would be nice if someone from SAP could comment, I have a planned downtime for this evening for a system but without access to the patch I won't be able to update...

  • Why are the settings in Compressor gone ?

    Hi
I've uninstalled and re-installed FCP 2 and upgraded everything (Compressor 3.0.5, FCP 6.06) but all the setting are gone and there are just empty icons instead. I've looked in the Application Support folder and could find the setting's files there but somehow they are not inside the application.
It might coincide with another problem I have that ProRes 422 files can't play in QT 7.7 Pro...
What can be wrong with my system ?
    Thanks

    Hi Nir.
Didn't want you to think your issue wasn't on the Compressor radar screen.  As I think we've found, from your FCS thread, it's probably related to the QT 7.7 update for Leopard.
Hope you are resolving it in a way that's not too time-consuming.
    Good luck.

  • Open in new tab or open in new page are the same result

when I set it to open in a new tab or uncheck that box the result is the same

You can start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).<br />
See [[Troubleshooting extensions and themes]] and [[Troubleshooting plugins]]
If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all your extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
You can use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.
You have to close and restart Firefox after each change via "File > Exit" (Mac: "Firefox > Quit"; Linux: "File > Quit")

  • I backed up my viber messages so my question is, when i restore it on my new iphone are the viber messages still there?

I backed up my viber messages, so my question is when I restore them on my new ipho

I don't know anything about viber messages, but the iCloud backup includes app data.  Presumably this would include your viber messages if the app was included in your backup.  You would have to check with the viber app developer to confirm if the app data includes your messges though.
You can check to confirm the app was included in the backup by going to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup>Manage Storage, tap the name of your phone under Backups, then tap Show All Apps under Backup Options and make sure it's listed.

  • Why in the new versions are the tabs half the size than in version 30?

When I upgraded, the tabs were half the size than in version 30.

Hi jjalarie, your question was about "size" without specifying what dimension. Thank you for clarifying that, but maybe you could have been nicer about it.
What two versions are you comparing, exactly? The currently available version is 33.1 but the forum software detected your version as Firefox 30.

  • Are the Mac hardware drivers on the "Applications Install DVD?"

And would it need to be inserted while Windows is running?

    Hi tabqwerty,
The BootCamp Drivers are on the "Mac OS X Install DVD" and not on the "Applications Install DVD".
The Mac OS X Install DVD is a hybrid OSX/Windows DVD and the WIndows part of it is only shown when you are in Windows.
(And the OS X part is only shown when you are in OS X).
So, yes you have to insert the DVD while running Wndows.

    Stefan
