New T5x0 series

Hi! after a lot of years without a real contact with the lenovo world (after 2007 i just had macs) i just bought a T520.
I want to ask something: why the bottom case is so plastic? i mean; it seems to be a R5x0 series,not a t500 one.
My T40,T61 etc.. had metallic (magnesium and something more i think) bottom case and felt a lot better.
I threw the T61 to the ground and got on him, just to show my pals that it could resist anything. I feel that if i do the same with this, it will be broken,,,
Did I get a lemon? its a T520i with a T520 screen? Im confused. It has enormous and well-built hinges,palmrest and keyboard (not flex at all),and the screen is amazing (1600 one,better than my 1680´s mbp screen).

No, everything is ok with your T520, its normal. Lenovo uses Glass-Fiber Reinforced plastic on the bottom of the T-Series in order to lower the overall weight of the machine. Only the "more premium" and slimmer Txxxs (so, T420s/T430s) and T430u come with a Magneisum-Aluminium bottom.
Still, the Magnesium strucutre frame is there, and the GFRP is also a ridig material, so the T520/T530 are still very tough.

New T-Series specs and availability?

Hi all, and first off I want to say that if this violates any rules or is in the wrong place, please move it!
I'm looking at a new laptop to replace my T60 so that my parents can replace their T40. I'm trying to decide between the new SL series and the new T. Does anyone have specs on the T (besides the datasheet... like a list of features on the T series that is not on the SL and vice versa) and does anyone know when the T series will be on Lenovo's website for customization and ordering? Any news about new W5xx series?

Basically I am shopping a new thinkpad to replace my T510. Yet with this year's cpu I am very torn apart between W550s for its portability and excessive battery lifetime and W541 for its performance. What I want is a combination of them. Do any of you think that with the coming release of Skylake Lenovo will release new W series equipping quad-core cpu with good battery life? Or at least can someone convince me that will never happen within one or two years (so I can make up my mind haha). PS: otherwise, the only option on the market seems to be macbook pro 15", which I don't really like with its metallic frame and not so good real world performance. Thanks a lot lot!

Please don't expect Lenovo employees who take part in this forum to answer this question. As they are involved in a competetive business, they are unlikely to show their "cards".
And FWIW IMHO Gizmodo hasn't got it completely right either.

New D Series?

Does anyone know if Lenovo plans on releasing a new D series any time soon? My D10 is so messed up IBM just submitted a Windchill case against it and I wasn't sure if I should just buy a D20 or wait for a new model.

admittedly, i sold my D20 and kept my D10 because i preferred the LSI controller over the Marvell. but, at the end of the day they're both "fake" RAID controllers and don't compare to a proper RAID-on-chip add-on card.
i also agree that the Intel PRO/1000s are excellent.
so, let me ask this. what would you like to potentially see in the next generation of dual-socket ThinkStation model? what's important to you in terms of RAID, PCI/PCI-e sockets, HDD/ODD drive bays, and ports?

Creating and using new Document Series in SAP B1- URGENT

"I want to use two different series in the same period in SAP B1 other than the default series. But whenever I am trying to do it i am unable to use both the series and at one time. Only one series is accesible even if I use the option "set default series for certain users."
Further elaboration - I handle retailers and wholesellers in my business process.I want to use two series Retail and Wholesale for the two different classes whenever I make an Invoice. So that the class of the document is seperated by the series.

In Admin - System initialisation - Document Numbering go to relate series document and choose A/R Invoice by double clicking it. Now the Series A/R Invoice will open. In that window click on new. It will go into Numbering series set up. Here go the the particular row in the first column give the series name as Wholesale and enter the first no.and the last no.and give the period indicator as default. Now right click on that row and addnew row you will be taken to the next row where in again you can name a series and the last and the first no.

When will Verizon deploy the new M series cable cards.

I have read that verizon will be switching over to the newer multistream M series cable cards. When can we expect them to be available and also will the cost be the same as the current s cards.
On the same note why is Verizon charging $3.98 each for the current s cards whrn most cable companies only charge about $2~$3 each. That wont be so bad if the price stays the same for the M cards because only one is required for 2 streams. It sort of looks like verizon is trying to discourage the use of TIvo's and Cable card computers (MCE) by over pricing the cable card rentals.

My main question is has Verizon anounced a price for M cards. As I said befor $3.98 each ($7.98 for 2) S Cards is too much. I certainly hope they dont charge $7.98 for one M card just because it can do the same as 2 S cards. I beilive Vierizon is trying to discourage Tivo & MCE cable card users by artificialy over charging for cable cards.

You don't.
You sync both of them to your computer.

New P5800 series and three speakers failed. Help?

I had the T5200 series before and the same problem happened. But I live in New Orleans and those are now trashed, so I bought the P5800 series to replace them. And now the same thing's happening. All five speakers worked for the first two days and now its down to two. Again.
Is it my machine? I was kinda hoping that $80 and a new set of speakers later I'd be back to 5.1, but it seems I'm back to 2.1. For $80. Can somebody PLEASE point me in the right direction here? It's really becoming aggrivating.

I've got a Creative SB Audigy card; my machine is from early 2003.
One thing I did notice while trying to enable CMSS is that... it seems somone uninstalled the whole EAX suite from my computer. Nothing exists. When you go through the Start menu all that shows up is Product Registration and Splash Screen. Which, as you could guess, isn't quite helpful.
Can I download the program from the site? I see updates for it on the Customer Support page, but I guess it's probably wishful thinking to look for the actual program. Can you help me out here? It seems my problem is just coming to light.

Newer T Series models and Keyboard Issues

I currently have a lemon of a T410 due to the flexing keyboard issues. At worst, certain keys do not work or produce random output at times due to the connector being compressed. I'm on my third keyboard now (and no longer under warranty).
I have always loved the T series but I was wondering if the newer models (420, 430) have the same issues or how common it is. I wonder at times if I'm a heavier than normal typist, but this seems to be a common problem at least with the 410s. Is that the case with newer models? What about other Thinkpad series?

I am sorry to hear with your trouble on the T410. In my household we have both a T400 and T420. The machines are used by people who I would consider heavy typists, and both machines are currently under warranty. The T400 keyboard was replaced once because a key fell off. They keyboard on the T420 was replaced once because an on-site repair tech damaged it. Outside of that, neither machine has had any keyboard issues. I do occasionally find that a key might stick, and then I use compressed air to blow out dust, dog hair, and other debris from under the keyboard.
When asking for help, post your question in the forum. Remember to include your system type, model number and OS. Do not post your serial number.

Will the new S series laptops ever get a Via Nano option?

I was very interested when i found that Lenovo made laptops that used Via's nano chipset. I am also very interested in the new tablet, s10-3t. Does anyone think they will make more Nano Laptops? Would anyone like them to make new Nano laptops? Is there any users out there with one of the older Nano laptops, if so, are you happy with it?

I too am very interested in Lenovo's partnership with VIA. As to whether or not there will be a VIA version of the S10-3t? I have no Idea. I personally would like to see a refresh of the S12 with one of the rumored dual core 3000 series nanos. Also, I'd like them to put in one of their new advanced media processors they have recently announced. If they exclude their own graphics, atleast put in Ion, because Nvidia was supposed to make a version compatable with VIA nanos.
I own an S12 with the VIA chipset, and it is quite robust. Short of HD video, it does almost everything I need a netbook for. Unfortunately, it is true that the battery life is shorter (slightly) than an Intel based machine. However, I still manage about 3 to 4 hours depending on what I'm doing.
