New T61 with Vista64 wanting to switch to XP after 2 hours of ownership

I just got my T61 with Vista64 and found a core program I need that wont run (I suspect others will soon follow). It seems like a lot of work to set-up a dual boot with XP so I was wondering if it would be easier to have a seperate HDD either in the Caddy or just swapping the drives from the Laptop it self ( 1 screw over cover to remove).
Any suggestions or advice? Will XP have all the drivers I need? I have the Intel Turbo Memory option.

Have you considered installing a virtual machine program like Microsoft's Virtual PC, VMware's VMware Workstation, Innotek's VirtualBox and so forth, installing Microsoft Windows XP inside of that, and then running your core application inside of that? It will probably not be as fast as if you were to replace the hard disk drive with one containing a different operating system, but it might be more convenient to use, especially if you need to frequently swap between Windows Vista and Windows XP.

you want to override the default and reboot into Windows next time?
Use BootChamp or Option key.
But when there are Windows updates it will need to be set to boot into Windows.
Sounds like you don't want to run Windows natively.

Can not use scroll mouse in html tab when open pdf file in new tab with middle button but will avaliable only after switch to pdf tab and switch back to html

When I open a "pdf" file in new tab with middle mouse click. After few second my mouse will not able to scroll in page that I read. But it will be able to scroll only after I click to any opened pdf tab and click on pdf document and click back on previous tab to continue reading. It is not only happen on my laptop also on my desktop too. (winxp 4gb/8gb ram core2 duo 2.66)

I want my macbook to sleep after an hour of idle, but instead it restarts?

It frustrates me because sometimes I want to fall asleep while watching a movie, my macbook will turn off after 1 hour, but it restarts first! Its so annoying because I have saved tabs, documents I wanted to keep open... and I cant seem to figure out why it does that.

New Imac with Tiger want Leopard and ILife without waiting

I just got a new IMac for Christmas but it has Tiger on the hard drive and in the box. (Last time I buy hardware from Amazon). I do have a full Leopard install disc I used on my Laptop. Can I use this while I wait for my free Leopard upgrade to come or is this breaking the user agreement? Secondly if I do a clean install when I get Leopard how do I get ILife back onto the IMac without buying it again?(since it came pre- installed)?

When you see people with zillions of credits, look at the date they registered. Most were here when the credits flowed like green beer on St. Pat's day on Brody Mountain.
I think you are dwelling on the few exceptions, however. Most people here actually do earn their stars and for those who do not like the system, they can simply ignore it.

New computer with iPhoto wants different App Store account...

... sounds a little like an onion headline ... :-)
Anyway, I got a new MacBook Pro (very happy!) and it came with iPhoto and Garage Band. I had not upgraded before, so these were 'new' for me. They seem to have been added to my Apple account – they appear as 'purchased' in the App Store, BUT when I try to update them, I get this message:
"You have updates available for other accounts" and "To update this application, sign in to the account you used to purchase it."
I'm not sure what account they are talking about... I tried both my @me and my @mac IDs.
Any ideas?

Was it new or from the Refurb site?
If from the Refurb site it may of been owned by someone else and returned and they registered the serial # and Apple had an oversite and never re-Set the serial. Just a though if it was from the Refurb store.
If not and it was new you may need to call Apple.

Error Msg - Device Not Compatible with IPhone - Want to switch to airplan?

I keep getting this error as if I have a device hooked to my phone. I have nothing attached. Statred getting it a couple of days ago and it pops up every 5 minutes or so. Have done a complete RESET/RESTORE and I still get it.
Recently added a few new apps - Weather Channel, USA Today, and Ocarina.
Any suggestions out there?

Try using a small brush, like a tooth brush, to remove any debris from the dock adapter port on the iPhone as suggested here: http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1505
You can also try restoring the iPhone to rule out software issues. This article: http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=305744 will walk you through restoring the iPhone.
If the issue is not caused by debris or the iPhone software, the iPhone may need hardware repair. Make a reservation to have a Genius at a local Apple retail store take a look at it or call AppleCare.

New Glitch with mail app setup in "Other" tab after update 5.0.1

Just for the record everyone. After the update to 5.0.1 If you have enabled iCloud on setup after you did a restore and erase-- if you had update problems as I did with my wife's iPhone-- the setup for mail is different. When you try to resetup your old email account in the mail app under the "other" tab it defaults to IMAP only --you do NOT get a choice to choose IMAP or POP after the first setup screen. Why? Lord only knows. Well, I called apple tech support and they were of no help at all and essentially shrugged their collective shoulders. You will all be happy to know that I have solved this problem on my own and I think it bears repeating to all of you, as I am sure others have come upon this problem as well. The solution appears to be to turn off iCloud and delete the iCloud account (keep the data on your phone of course) in settings and then turn off push notifications. Then restart your phone. You may have to restart twice. Then try setting up your mail account under "other". Then when you have filled out the first setup acct screen and go to the next screen. Volia! You should then see the option on the next setup screen to choose IMAP or POP. You can then input the settings as per your POP account as specified by your carrier. One note however, the verify process may take up to a minute or more--very slow for some reason when setting up as a POP acct. Anyway, I thought this was weird because under 5.0-- I would get the option after first email setup screen to choose HTTP, IMAP or POP?? My theory is that somehow IMAP gets defaulted as the only choice because iCloud operates that way if enabled etc. You can then turn iCloud back on as well as resetup acct-- as well as push notifications and your POP email acct should still continue to work as configured. I think this is a definite glitch or bug with the update to 5.0.1? I knew that POP was still supported since my iPhone did not need to be reset or erased after the update to 5.0.1 and my POP acct was still there working as configured but if I tried to add another POP acct under "Other" it would also only default straight to IMAP after setup screen. System doesn't want to switch off(arch+notebook)

I just have installed the system. I have installed only base packages from new core image. System works good but doesn't want to switch off. After using shitdown -h now or poweroff or halt all as usally but after appearance inscription Power off nothing is going on.
If I nothing to do in the system then it swithes off good. But when I am mounting disks for example then the same problem. If I am mounting disk then unmounting all is good. With mounted disks which I didn't touch during installing system very rare swith off correctly but without them always all is good. It seems strange for me... what relationship between mounting and switching off...maybe it's just coincidence..I don't now.
Maybe something wrong with acpi? While only base-packeges are in the system. Maybe it needs other packages for notebook?
What do you think? And by the way, excuse my english)

I just have reinstalled the system but in this time I have mounted disks during installing. The same situation but now system switch off never even if I unmounting disks before.
It hungs up in the last moment after all operation. After inscription Power Off in the terminal nothing to do and system hangs up.
By the way, before i used Ubuntu on this notebook and switching off was working correctly exept for stand by and hibernate

T61 with NVidia Qaudro 140M / Advanced Dock - Multiscreen Solution?

Hi Folks,
I just bought a new T61 with the NVidia 140M Graphic Adapter included. I also purchased the Advanced Dock and want do run a multiscreen solution with the help of a PCIe Dual Head card. I am running Vista Business and after some research on the web I already found out, that Vista only supports multiple Cards from the same vendor which uses the same drivers. However my dealer shipped an ATI Graphic Adapter which obviously does not work but I cant find information on the Lenovo Webpage, which NVidia Adapter are supported in the Advanced Dock. What seems to be a little bit odd to me is the fact, that when the ATI Adapter is installed in the Dock, the T61 is "docked" it does not boot at all... I changed the BIOS to Primary Video Display to PCI-Express but the only thing that happens is that the notebook beeps twice after turning it on and thats it. Black screen and no harddisk activity. Has somebody found a solution to run a multiple screen solution with a T61 with the NVidia Chip and could you tell me, which PCIe card you used? I would really appreciate your help.

I spent some time surfing through product release letters and data sheets for the grafic cards offered by Lenovo, no where, as far as I could see, does it say that they are compatible with the advanced dock. What is also interesting, they say for PCs they are only tested for 2 screens, but you found the document MIGR-67464 where they show how to configure 4. [confused smiley]

However, I don't want to be the "party pooper" here, but why doesn't your T61 boot in the dock with graphics card? This is still puzzling me, and to be honest I haven't as yet been able to come up with a reason or probable cause as to why

T61 with Vista Ultimate WON'T replicate CD/DVD like R61 with XP Professional - - - HOW DO I DO THIS?

Tried to copy a CD on new T61 with Vista Ultimate preloaded. Did this with no problems on an R61 with XP Professional. The HELP files say to copy all data to a directory and then copy them to a blank CD. This is NOT what I want or need. It also mentions that OTHER software to do this may be obtainable. I KNOW that Lenove uses ROXIO in its CMD line interface as a brand new system gave me the BSOD when inserting a video DVD and Windows Media Player coughed and died. Took about 3 hours to return to factory settings on a machine I had just customized. Is this another "feature" from Microsoft or what? Can you load ROXIO or other software to DUPLICATE CDs and DVDs. Have the dual layed DVD/CD RW slim ultrabay drive. Who makes this drive anyway?

I overcame the permissions by allowing both paths to have read and write access to anyone but that didnt solve it until I copied it into the DATA directory which I created on the Airport Time Capsule.
I had already discovered the TIME MACHINE How to transfer backups but I am struggling still with the item and cannot currently get it to work. My setup seems to have created a wireless link to my router which is what I wanted and in that set up there are three options. I have simply gone for the extension of my network. I ignored the other option there which I cannot remember something like DNS? That may be the problem becasuse when I remove the Ethernet connector it just doesnt go anywhere.
I have also found I cannot update my TIME MACHINE software (currently 1.3) as although Apple tell me I should be able to set backups hourly daily or weekly I have only ever been able to run it hourly when i would prefer longer intervals so thought an update might be necssary.
Also tried to get an update for my Airport Utility (Currently 6.3.2 but cannot find one even though I have read there might be one available and again this might be the problem.
Have reset the Time Capsule now about a dozen times.
Following the instructions and trying to copy my existing backup it suggests you need to copy it to the root directory but that is when I get some sort of security issue and I found I could only get it to accept if I dragged my .backupdb to the DATA directory on the Time Capsule. I dont even know if I do this it will work when I come to use it.
I therefore found your reply of no more help than i had discovered but I hope you return to read this note because I really do need some help.
I am intending starting again in the next couple of days and fully documenting what I do and what I see and then as I suspect it will be no different and I will then seek an appointment at the Apple Store in Trafford Centre and if that proves unsuccessful then I still have time to return and become a dissatisfied customer with Apple for the first time in a long experience with Apple. I have noticed frightening notes on the conversations which point to problems of Mavericks working with Airport Time Machine!! So in the end it might not be me doing anything wrong. Unfortunately you do feel left out in the dark sometimes that is why I hope you can respond with a solution?

my nokia N91 4 gb got disconnected during software update which cause a severe damage.i take it to a software repairer who flash it but then he replied me that the IMEI is corrupted.then i took it to some one else who installed the software eventually by flashing 2.20 008,the latest version in my N91(Rm 43) but it is switching off itself after few hours.it sometime take 1 hour, some time half hour and some time 5 hours then switch off itself.it turns on again when i turn it on and works for same period and then again switch off.could u plz help me as i am in great trouble now.what to do now to repair it.when i went to the software repairer who repaired it.he replied that its the hardware fault.i was astonished to hear this as there was no problem before repairing the software.plzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz help.
