New tab button isn't working, niether is the "open new tab" in file menu

When I click on the new tab button nothing happens. It also will not open a new tab when I click on "new tab" under the file menu. I have windows 7

The Ask Toolbar is causing that in the Firefox 3.6.13+ versions. Disable that extension or un-install it.

It doesn't matter what you want. You will be given a replacement phone and whatever iOS is on the phone from the factory is what you will get. You don't get a choice. iOS 6.1.3 has been out for quite a while; it is VERY likely your new phone will have this version of iOS.

The open new tab (+ sign button) unexpectedly stopped working when I click on the + sign why?

The + sign button that opens a new tab (called Untitled) stopped working. When I go to File, and click on New Tab, that does not work either. I checked the Options and made sure the "Open new window in new tab instead was checked. I tried System Restore, and I downloaded and installed Firefox 5.0. The + sign still does not work. This problem in on my desktop. I checked my laptop and the open new tab + sign button is working fine. What is happening?

Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of the extensions is causing the problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Firefox (Tools) > Add-ons > Appearance/Themes).
* Don't make any changes on the Safe mode start window.

If it does work in Safe-mode then disable all extensions and then try to find which is causing it by enabling one at a time until the problem reappears.
* Use "Disable all add-ons" on the [[Safe mode]] start window to disable all extensions.

How can I put the "open new tab" button back to the right of the right most tab in FF 4?

It's very annoying to have to go up to the corner to click on the open new tab button when it used to be to the right of the right most tab. I have other buttons, like print up there and have to think about which one to click. What was wrong with where it was? It worked for me. At least tell me how, or allow me to change it back. It is one thing to make a product faster but allow the users to keep things in familiar places if they want. I've liked that option on Firefox with most things. I've been a Minefield then Shiretoko user for a number of years an I think I will stick with it for the foreseeable future.

Thanks. I don't know why it wouldn't just go back there when I tried putting it back? I didn't change anything, so I assumed the new "default" was over on the left. Glad it was a simple solution after all.

I have 9.0.1 on 2 pc's, both xp sp3. On 1 the 'open new tab' button is visible, on the other, the 'open new tab' button is not even available in the 'customize toolbar' menu for dragging and dropping. Why?

I used the same installation file, but on 1 pc, the 'open new tab' button is available in the 'customize toolbar' menu and can be dragged and dropped onto the navigation bar. On the other pc, the 'open new tab' button/icon is not even available for dragging and dropping. Please try '''Restore Default Set''' in the '''Customize...''' window. If it's still not visible, one reason could be that the button is already placed on the toolbar but may be hidden behind another icon or toolbar.

The "Use custom settings for history" setting allows to see the current history and cookie settings, but selecting that setting doesn't make any changes to history and cookie settings. 
Firefox shows the "Use custom settings for history" setting as an indication that at least one of the history and cookie settings is not the default to make you aware that changes were made. 
If all History settings are default then the custom settings are hidden and you see "Firefox will: (Never) Remember History".

The "open new Tab" commands either menu or the +tab tab do not work at all. A new tab is only created when an existing site opens a new window.

happens all the time. The tab "tab" on the right of the open browser tab does not work and neither does the menu File/New Tab.

Uninstall the Ask toolbar and it should work again. There is a compatibility issue with the Ask toolbar and Firefox that prevents new tabs from being opened.
