New Tabs Icon

Anyone know how or if Safari Windows will have a New Tabs icon on the toolbar?

Currently there is no toolbar button to open new tab. However you can file a feature request regarding this button -> http://bugreport.apple.com.

• Is there a way to have the 'new tab' icon on the toolbar AND have the "new tab" button at the right end of my tabs, as before? It seems to be either/or.

Under the previous version of Firefox I had the "new tab" option in both locations. When I upgraded, the one at the end of the tab line had disappeared. I used the suggestion from the forum to reset to default and it did reappear, but the icon in the toolbar had disappeared. Since there is no + in the customization window I cannot place a new one, and if I drag and drop from the tab bar it moves to the toolbar, but will not duplicate itself. I use either of these interchangeably, and having only one or the other is a real annoyance, and does slow me down when doing multiple searches or otherwise utilizing multiple tabs.

Hi, I have a similar problem with 12.0 of Firefox. The 'Add New Tab' tab has moved from the righthand end of open tabs to the left hand end.
If I right click on an empty tab area and select customize the "Add New Tab' tab disappears and an Add New Tab icon appears at the right hand end. I can drag and drop this icon into the Customize Toolbar window.
However if I drag it from the window back to the Tab toolbar area on the right. It initially appears on the right. Then clicking 'Done' on the Customize Toolbar window converts the icon to a tab but places it back at the left hand end of the tabs.
I'm sure this didn't happen before - so it's a possibility I have messed something up but I can't seem to correct it?

• How do I get a Vista 64 bit XP machine to show a "+" icon on the tab bar to "Open a new tab" and the "Open a new tab" icon on the far right of the Bookmarks tool bar?

I have Firefox 4.0.1 installed on two laptops, one with Windows Vista, 64 bit and the other with Windows XP. Both machines have the "Open a new tab" icon on the far right of the Bookmarks tool bar. The XP machine also has a + icon on the tab bar to "Open a new tab" while the Vista machine does not have that + icon. I like using that; is there any way to get it on the Vista machine?

After weeks of trying, I stumbled on the solution:
# Right-click on an empty section of the Tab Strip, select Customize... and the Customize Toolbar window will open.
# At the bottom of the Customize Toolbar window, there are additional options for changing the appearance of the icons in your toolbars. From the Show drop-down menu, you can choose what to display in the toolbars — Icons, Text, or Icons and Text together. By default, Firefox just shows Icons.
# Select Icons and Text
# When you are finished making changes, click Done to close the Customize Toolbar window.

• Is it possible in firefox 4 to have two new tab icons . one next to current open last tab and one on the toolbar next to forward/ back buttons ?

erm is it possible

Ok, just discovered on another forum that instead of having a 'new tab' icon on your tab bar, simply double click the empty space after the last tab and a new tab opens. I never knew that. Solves that problem for me, however I'm told it doesn't work in "tabs on top" mode, something I don't use.

• Need the new tab icon and need to move home page icon

Need what I had on previous versions of Firefox. Need new tab icon next to address bar, it is not under customize. Need to move home page icon to the same place. It is very annoying to have it on the right side the of web page, need to have it on the left side.

You can find the New Tab button showing as a '+' on the Tab bar.
You can open the Customize window and drag the New Tab button that shows as a plus sign (+) from the Tab bar on another toolbar and it will become a regular toolbar button like the New Tab button that you have in Firefox 3 versions.
If you can't find the New Tab button then click the "Restore Default Set" button in the Customize window.
If you want the New Tab button at the far right end of the Tab bar then place a flexible space to the left of it.

• How do I add the new tab icon to the Yosemite toolbar?

How do I add the New Tab icon to my Safari toolbar?--it disappeared after I upgraded to Yosemite.

To show your favourites bar where they were previously choose View>Show Favourites Bar. To add a page to your favourites. Click the share button right hand top, square with arrow pointing up. Choose Add bookmarks then adjust to add to favourites.
If you just mean a new tab hit the + button.

• Why is there a NEW WINDOW icon but no NEW TAB icon on the Customize Toolbars function?

In Firefox 4 I can customize the menu bar only with icons that are included in the customization routine. Included is a NEW WINDOW icon but no NEW TAB icon. Why?

The + New Tab button on the tab bar should move to the right end side of the Tab bar if you open Customize. If the + button disappears then click the Restore Default Set in the customize window.

• New Tab icon missing from FF17 on Win7-64, not missing from FF17 on XPSP3-32; why?

The navigation toolbar icon set has "New Tab" available in FF16 and FF17 on Win XPSP3 (32bit), but this control is not in the customization set in FF17 on Win7HP (64bit). How do a get the "New Tab" control in the toolbar in Win7?

Dragging a link on the New Tab toolbar button (either on the Tab Bar or if you have moved it to another toolbar) on to empty space on the Tab bar still works for me to open this link in a new tab.

• Where is the New Tab icon along the tab list?

I am using Firefox 4. In the previous versions there was a mini-tab with a plus-sign all the way to the right that, when pressed, would add a new tab. Can't find it. Sorry.

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
* Go to "View > Toolbars" and check-mark "Menu Bar" with a click if you want to make that permanent
See [[Menu bar is missing]])
Make sure that the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
* If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
* If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
* If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

• There was a "new window" and a "new tab" icon that could be dragged from the Customize window to the toolbar. In 7 & 8 there is still a "new window" icon but there is no new tab icon to be found in Customize. Where can I add a "new tab" to the toolbar?

'''bold text''' This feature was there prior to Firefox 7 but now it can't be found.

• Why is the new tab icon a dotted square?

hey when i used to press the "add tab" button, it would open a tab, and the icon on the tab was a picture of a blank page.
it has now been replaced with a dotted-line square.
first off this is ugly, and secondly i didn't click on anything to change this, and i didn't ask for a change... how can i get the page back as the icon? it now has a dotted-line square for all websites without icons i've realized.

• How can I eliminate the "new tab" when I open Firefox to my preset Home Page?

I have Firefox installed on a desktop and a netbook. On the desktop, when I launch Firefox it takes me to my homepage, and that is the only tab open. On the netbook, it opens to the homepage correctly, but there is also a second, blank tab, carrying the header "New Tab", just as though I had clicked on the "New Tab" icon in the toolbar. Since my homepage is a specialized search engine which opens each result in a new tab of its own, having the blank one already in place is annoying. How do I stop it from opening on launch?

Make sure that there isn't a pipe symbol appended to the home page setting.

• On Firefox 4, how can I put one "new tab" on the "tab bar" (The + sign) and one next to the "back/forward" buttons (as in FF 3.6)?

On Firefox 4, how can I put one "new tab" on the "tab bar" (The + sign) and one next to the "back/forward" buttons (as in FF 3.6)?
In my current Firefox, the "new tab" icon/item from the "customize" pop-up window menu of items is placed next to my home, back, forward buttons near the top-left of my header (Button 1 for "new tab"). Then, the tab bar automatically come with a small tab (with a + sign) to the right of your last tab opened (so you click on + and a new tab opens. Button 2 for "new tab"). I like to have this "new tab" button twice (as a + mini tab, and next to my "home icon".
When I upgraded to Firefox 4, I seemed to be only able to "customize" or use the "new tab" in one place. Either as an icon next to home button, or as a "+ minitab", but NOT both.
What can I do to put this button in Firefox 4 on BOTH places???
Your help is really appreciated. I want to upgrade, but I want my buttons on both places...
I upgraded to FF 4, but downgraded again just because this feature... that's just me of coarse :-)

• How do I get new pages in new tabs to automatically go the same setting as my home page? Google is my home page, and I want the opening in new tabs to default to Google also.

Whenever I open a new tab, I want the new page to open to the same setting as my Home Page (in my case, Google). Instead it takes me to Bing. Even my Home Page reverts to Bing after I've set it to Google.

The default New Tab in Firefox is a blank page and there is no built-in option to change that.
*CTRL+left-click the Home icon will open a new tab to your set home page.
