New TED video podcasts not compatible with 80GB classic?

Up until recently, I've been loading TED podcasts (video) on my 80GB Classic with no problems. For the last 3-4, however, I'm being told that these most recent ones can't sync because they are not compatible with my ipod. For some reason they can't be viewed. Is anyone having this same problem? Is there a fix?
I have the most current version of iTunes, and I tried the Advanced tools.
Thanks.

Did the problem start just after updating to i-tunes V9?
Classic owners are having lots of problems since updating. Check out the threads for i-pod classics to see what I mean.

  • Assuming video is not compatible with compiz-fusion...?

I'm installing ArchLinux on a extra computer at work... works great... but for the fun of it I tried running compiz fusion on it. I get this:
    [root@myhost ~]# fusion-icon

    * Using the GTK Interface

I'm just using an xorg.conf that was generated with #X -configure, and have also tried one generated with hwd -x.  Both detect  "sis" as the video driver.  Listing below...
Am I right to assume that this means that the video in not compatible with compiz? Or could it be some settings that need to be tweaked.
    Thanks for any advice.

And I'm confused. Are there any chances of getting compositing to work on SiS card in this case?
I'm not the expert here, but compiz can work with indirect rendering, so I don't think that's the qualifier for if it works for your system.

  • How do you burn a video file not compatible with quicktime?

    Hello all,
I am very new at this so I apologize if the solution is very simple - i just can't seem to work this iDVD thing...
I've searched through the forums and can't seem to find exactly what I need, please point me in the right direction if a solution has already been posted elsewhere.
Okay, so my problem is trying to burn movies to DVD. I don't actually have to use iDVD, but it's the only solution i've come up with. My problem is when I add a movie file (lets say, something that will ONLY OPEN with VLC), and press preview, no movie files show up... but when i put in a video file that will play with quicktime, the preview works fine.
So i suspect the preview wont play because the file is not compatible with quicktime.
have any of you tried this? All i want is to be able to play a downloaded movie on the dvd player downstairs
    regards,
    Peter

iDvd is not a general burn utility. However, there's a very good chance (whatever that file is) that Toast will burn it to Dvd-R. And if not (which is unlikely) then do as suggested already and use Mpegstream Clip. It's 100% free! However Mpeg 2 playback component may run you a few bucks (if needed).
Or the alternative is to invest hundreds of dollars in Apple software and use apps like FCP and DVDSP (or FCS) along with QT Pro. Nine times out of ten this combination tends to work well ... but it ain't cheap (not to mention a rather steep learning curve).

  • New version of iBooks not compatible with iOs 4.2.1

I wanted to install iBooks on my iPhone 3. The new version, released sep 19th 2012 requires iOs 4.3 which is not compatible with the iPhone 3g. Have I any solution to install a previous version of iBooks?

Nice! This is what we call forced marketing ... I am forced to buy a new iPhone to use an old basic application ... Any idea on which free app I can use to read PDF docs and which is iOs 4.2.1 compatible? Thanks for your help.

  • New in-ear headphone NOT COMPATIBLE with RADIO remote!!!

I bought some days ago on the apple store the new in-ear headphone but it seems that are not compatible with radio remote control.
Infact if I connect them, the volume is very very very low. The volume is correct only if I take out just a bit the jack from the radio remote or if the central button of the "in-ear headphone" is hold down pressed.
Do you know something about this problem? Because these headphones are NOT very cheap and nothing is indicated on the apple store.
    Thanks!!!

According to the description, it is supposed to work as normal earbuds when connected to older iPod models. So it seems like it should work that way with a Radio Remote. You said it works properly if it is not pushed in all the way? Maybe the one you have has a minor defect. If you bought it online, you may want to call the customer service number at shown at the upper left corner of the online Apple Store web page and see what they can do about it.

  • TS1702 app's will not install, message reads newer OS required or not compatible with ipod

I have just updated my old ipod touch and after restore failing I have had to setup as new ipod, but now can not intall all my apps. i have tried installing app from store and message reads app not compatible with ipod or newer OS required.

Your only way is if you have the version that was compatible on your computer such as in the recycle bin/trash or in a computer file backup. In that case delete the current version that is in your iTunes App library and replace it with the older version. Then sync.

  • My new iphone software is not compatible with itunes

    Hi,
I recenty up downloaded the new software on my iphone and Ipad. Now I cannot plug into itunes on my Mac. It said the software is not compatible. I have tried to udgrade my itunes and download the lastes version, but apparently my Mac (brought in 2007) is not compatible with the new itunes. Im really not happy about the situation as you will appreciate as now I cannot update music, photo's etc.
Can someone please help? what can I do? I dont think its fair that I should have to spend money on upgrading anything just because I upgraded to the new iphone software.
    Thanks,
    Amanda

  • Created Podcast - not compatible with iPod!

I encoded a batch of DV-PAL movies into H.264 files with compressor, I wanted them to have high quality and be compatible with iPod Video.
My .mov/compressor encodes turned out not to be.
They work fine in browsers, or even in the iTunes directory.
But when it gave a error saying it can't be copied over to the iPod because it's not a compatible format.
My podcast can be found here:
    feed://podcast.medieproducent.se/podcast.xml
The last 2 entries is newly encoded.
grantjuven_QT.m4v is encoded with QT and the export movie to iPod (320x240) preset.
Note: the encode only turns out as 300x240, but 5:4 is correct Square Pixel aspect ratio for PAL, but still it's confusing that the preset got 320x240 in the name.
grantjuven_compressor.mov is encoded with compressor using the following settings:
    File Extension: mov
    Estimated file size: 14.76 MB
    Audio Encoder
    AAC, Stereo (L R), 48,000 kHz
    Video Encoder
    Format: QT
    Width: 320
    Height: 240
Pixel aspect ratio: PAL CCIR 601
    Crop: None
    Frame rate: 25
    Frame Controls: Off
    Codec Type: H.264
    Multi-pass: On, frame reorder: On
    Pixel depth: 24
    Spatial quality: 50
    Min. Spatial quality: 50
    Temporal quality: 50
    Min. temporal quality: 50
    Data rate: 0.688 (Mbps)
    Hinted for QuickTime
    streaming server
The .m4v stream alot of browsers have mime-type problems with, even latest version of safari so I want to keep the container to .mov.
What have I done wrong, and what's the best possible settings you can encode with in compressor to get a compatible iPod friendly podcast?
    From apples specs:
    H.264 video
File formats: .m4v, .mp4 and .mov
Video: Up to 768 Kbps, 320 x 240 pixels, 30 frames per second, Baseline Profile up to Level 1.3
Audio: AAC-LC up to 160 Kbps, 48 KHz, stereo audio
I can't see anything that differs from my settings.
Should be the Baseline Profile 1.3, but I havent found any settings for that!
Or the pixel aspect ratio maybe?
    Help!

About QTs encoding size the clip is not forced to 4:3 resolution of 320x240, instead it is resized to fit in the boundaries of a 320x240 rectangle. i.e. a 640x268 clip I had, was resized to 320x134.
-it supports non-mod16 resolutions like the one above or 317x240.
    found some info on profiles:
QuickTime only supports up to Main Profile. None of the High Profile settings such as 8x8 intra are supported by Apple. If you try to encode your x264 video with these settings, it will NOT play on QuickTime.
    AVC/H.264 Profiles
The AVC/H.264 standard defines four different Profiles: Baseline, Main, Extended and High Profile (which themselves are subdivided into Levels):
    - Baseline Profile offers I/P-Frames, supports progressive and CAVLC only
    - Extended Profile offers I/P/B/SP/SI-Frames, supports progressive and CAVLC only
    - Main Profile offers I/P/B-Frames, supports progressive and interlaced, and offers CAVLC or CABAC
    - High Profile (aka FRExt) adds to Main Profile: 8x8 intra prediction, custom quants, lossless video coding, more yuv formats (4:4:4...)
Does anyone have more info on the specs of Baseline 1.3?
Google was not my friends on that one.

  • New version of iTunes not compatible with my iMac but I've upgraded my iPhone to iOS 6. How can I resolve this?

I have an iMac G5 (2005) and I cannot download the new version of iTunes as I do't have an Intel based Mac, therefore, I cannot connect my iPhone 4 to iTunes after upgrading to iOS 6. How can I remove iOS 6 from the iPhone to run iOS 5 again or actually get my Mac to run the new version of iTunes?
Any helpful hints would be good.
    Thanks

You're in a bit of a pickle there...Apple does not support downgrading software, so there's no official way to do so, & since you have a Power PC Mac, you can't run Snow Leopard, which is required in order to run iTunes 10.7. So, either purchase a new computer or sync your phone with iCloud from now on.

  • Ios 7 not compatible with Ipod classic

Ever since Itunes updated to IOS7 my Ipod classic that has been completely reliable for about four years is now unable to sync. I get a wide variety of responces from itunes while trying. It says the disc is not located, compatable, or sometimes it pretends to sync but only about 20 songs out of my 8,000+ songs were synced. I've tried everything from restoring (about 8 times total), trying to fix any bugs through my windows7 on the device, and only attempting to put on certain playlists- only to have the same results.
I do hope that the Apple people know of this problem and are trying to resolve it because I would be very irritated to find that I can no longer use my Ipod. (its 160 gig)
-If you know of anything that could help, I would greatly appreciate it.

iOS has nothing to do with the iPod Classic, it is used on the iPod Touch and iPhone.
Your Classic uses firmware (the operating system) 1.1.2. Nothing whatsoever to do with iOS.
I suggest you have a browse through the Classic discussions and iTunes discussions for anything concerning problems with iPod Classic syncing, as I have noticed a few posts on that topic. I have not experienced any issues myself with my iPod Classic, running 1.1.2 for PC.
Since there has been no update to the iPod Classic's firmware (operating system) for quite a while, the problems that I have noticed in the discussions, that mention partial Playlist syncing, additional songs not being synced etc. are more likely to be associated with updates to iTunes, which is now on version 11.1.38.

  • New version of firefox not compatible with my OS? what are the risks?

    Hello,
When I was prompted to update my firefox browser, I was subsequently told my Macbook OS 10.5.8 didn't support the new firefox and that I would therefore be subject to cyber attacks from now on, or something similar to that. I don't actually remember the exact phrasing. It did sound ominous. What do you suggest I do? Can I keep on using the outdated version of Firefox that I currently have? or should I switch to a different browser altogether?
    Dokolo

You could turn on the Mac OS firewall, and get an antivirus. I am running Firefox 3.6.28 on my laptop with Mac OS 10.4.11, and have not run into any problems so far, being behind a router, with the firewall on and with an antivirus installed.

  • Google Chat/Video Chat not compatible with Apple PPC

I have a G3 B/W Mac upgraded with a G4 Sonnet Processor. My unit operates on OS X 10.4.11 Tiger. Google states that the minimum Mac operating system for their Chat/Video Chat plugin is 10.4. But when I try to install their plugin, it states that the plugin does not support a Mac PPC even though it is operating on the minimum operating system. Does anyone know why?

For the "YayWho" on the Gmail Discussion who implied that the only reason we are complaining is because we want something for Nothing and Google is putting a lot of effort behind this venture. I am a Stroke Survivor on a limited income. My B/W G3 PPC is fully functional and I could not afford to dump my Mac and replace it. I would be OK with just having the Chat feature. But there are a lot of US, PPC Users. If the minimum Operating System requirement is Mac OS X 10.4, Google should support any and all hardware that use the OS X 10.4.x platform. It is too bad Google takes this position. I thought they were better

  • Speakers Compatible with 80GB Classic?

I'm trying to get a good sounding, portable and moderately priced speaker system for my new Classic 80GB.

If a friend has an external hard drive with music he has obtained by ripping his CDs, purchasing it from iTunes, etc., i.e. they are copyrighted songs that he has a license to use he cannot "give" them to you to put on your iPod. You would be violating the copyright and stealing the music.
