Hi all in the group,
I am new to BPS, currently in BW. I have absolutely no Idea what exactly BPS is .
can any one Explain me about BPS. what is it used for , In which way it is used in Business Planning.

Problem adding a new field to existing BPS planning layout

Hi
I am new to BPS and planning
I have a requirement to add a new field which has values maintained as 0 and 1 to an existing planning cube.The user wants this new field in the existing planning layout where in he can enter the values for this field as 0 or 1.I have created a new field and maintained values for this field as 0 and 1.I have added this field to the existing planning area and have created variable with fixed value with range 0 to1.I have added the same in selections in existing planning level and package as well along with other existing selection conditions.
In additional functions of adhoc package they have made setting as set to all possible char combination.
In this planning area all the selections are locked in planning level and package.
Now when i execute the planning layout to enter data,my new field is grayed out,it does not allow me to enter the values.need help with this as to how can i make this field input enabled.This is an independent characteristic.

Hai its business planning simulation tcode BPS0 similar to administartion work bench we have planning area ,planning level and planning functions we can use only when the cube is planning enabled.check the help.sap website and sdn threads will serve your requirements.

Extra row in input template in BPS

hI EXPERTS
Our business is shared by our company(referred to as 'internal') and some partners(referred to as External). we use web template reporting..so all web reports we have show data on internal and external business.So even in planning reports we have internal planning and external planning.
we have one strange problem in one planning scenario.Until June this year,we had same Target value for both internal and external..so our user used to input one figure in one Input template which inturn will be showed as Target value in both Internal reports and External reports....we are using static webtemplate based reports...
for e.g Sales Target -
10 million (in input template)
but from July,its different target value for internal and external....so my user is giving first Internal figure in Sales Target column in Input template and generating static report for Internal users and then going back to Input template and giving 'external' figure in same Sales Target row in input template and generating static reports for External....so he is doing it two times every month....
he wants to avoid this....he suggested something like have one row for 'Internal Sales Target' and one row for 'External Sales Target' in input template....so he can input different figures in one go and generate reports in one go....
How can I achieve this?I am new to BPS....where do I need to do changes and what care I need to take while doing this...

there are many, many options to solve the issue and it will depend on your data model, the konfiguration of your reports, and so on..
if i understand your example, in your cutrent planning application it´s not possible to save the values permanent. you loose the internal value by overwriting with the external value, because you use the same keyfigure-datamodel!? mhhh... the diffrent values are only stored in the generated reports!?
possible solutions:
1. two diffrent keyfigures - one for internal, one for external - there you will have one row and two columns
2. diffrent character-combinations/ one keyfigure - that means you split your characterdefinition (for example with an infoobject which discrebed the "internal" "external" status)
i think it shouldn´t be a big problem, but it depends on your datamodel and planning layout...

Hi.
You can open bex query in BPS Web Layout, but you should update data via BPS layout.
In BPS Bex query can be opened only for display as long as BPS doesn't allow input via query (only BI7+IP).
In BPS Web Interface builder add subcomponent "text", set HTML=TRUE, goto property "text", press F4->edit long text and enter HTML tags IFRAME with URL of bex query.

BPS CCA Retractor setup

Hi All,
I am new to BPS and and am trying to set up the functionality for Retraction of data from SEM to R/3.
But when I go to the transaction (as mentioned in SAP Help)
Business Analytics -> Financial Analytics -> Cost Center Planning -> Cost Center Planning Administration,
I am not able to find the same.
I am working on SEM-BW 4.0 and BI_CONT 3.5, is the same transaction replaced with the one mentioned below here
Business Analytics -> Financial Analytics -> Cost Center Planning -> Customizing -> Settings in the Planning Environment
Moreover if I try to go to Settings in the Planning Environment, it gives me the error message as below:
Planning profile 4EXPPL01 does not exist
Message no. UPC_FW050
Can anybody suggest what am I missing. Thanks for your help in advance

Hi,
I could activate the Content using the option that you had suggested, but am still stuck up with the Retractor setup.
I have done the steps as mentioned in SAP Help, but have not been able to retract data into R/3.
Below are the steps that I did and the problem :
1. Select one of the existing planning levels the selection of which contains data that you want to transfer back into the operational system, or create a suitable planning level.
2. Create a planning function of the type exit in the context of the planning level you selected.
3. Enter the names of the function modules in the fields intended for this:
Function module = UPR_COST_PLAN_EXEC
FM initialization = UPR_COST_PLAN_INIT
4. Make the assignments of parameters to data elements under Parameter Exit Functions:
5. In the list of fields to be changed, selected the following characteristics:
Cost center (0COSTCENTER)
Cost element (0COSTELMNT)
6. Create a parameter group for the planning function.
7. In the parameter group, entered the parameters created in the context of the function.
8. To start the retraction, select a package of the planning level and then execute the function with the parameter group.
Once I execute the package I get the following message
27 data records were read, 0 of them were changed, 0 generated
Message no. UPC224
Having done the above, I am not clear
what are the steps to be executed subsequent to this, and if I need to create the sender structure where and how I could create the same.
Moreover once the data is retracted into R/3 is it visible in transaction directly in KP06/KP07 or do I need to view the same in some other transaction/table or is there some processing step involved there also.

We have manual layouts to input data in bps. planning functions are used to modify or calculate results from the entered or already available data in the cube.

BW SEM-BPS implemetation

I am involved in new SEM-BPS implementation and I have to develop an interface program to read csv ( flat file ) from from a server into BW for reconciliation in BPS. I am new in BW, please can you tell me the best approach with examples if possible on how to develop the interface.
Also can I read data from Infocub into an internal workarea for me to apply a validation on them in the process of elimenating invalid record. Thank you for your help.

There are many ways to do this and it is very hard to give an example. There are resources out there to help. Here are a couple function module names that may help UPLOAD_FILES or DBAN_GET_FILE_CSV. I personally have always been a fan of loading it into an ODS and doing comparisons there. They give you the functionality to upload CSV using a data package. That does depend on how many rows you are loading.

Reference material/book on BPS

I have experience in BW but I am new to BPS and BI Integrated Planning. Is there any good material or book that I can use as a starting point to learn this subject.

BPS User exit Allocations

Hi Experts,
I am brand new to BPS and I have to write code for BPS user exit for allocations.
i have to read the ods to obtain the rule for sender cost center. for each sender cost center exit needs to determine net posted values for cost elements by referencing postings made in BPS cost center planning area. and this updates needs to made in cost center planning area.
the same thing i have to do for receiver side. each of receiver's receives proportion of corresponding sender assessment amount and this should be posted against specified characteristic like sub-region, profit center etc which are obtained from ODS.
is any one of you have any sample code ? please guide me.

What i have to is, I have to read one ODS table (a rule table ) which has key fields like allocation, start date and segment number and data fields like sequence number, rule, sender percentage,assessment / distribution rule, field group, version, sender cost center, sender cost element low and high, company code, receiver profit center, primary lc, sub lc, sub-region, controlling area and cost element.
Now for each sender cost center in ODS, i have to write BPS User Exit, that will determine net posted values for cost elements listed in ODS, by referencing postings made in BPS cost center planning area(PACCA) and updates is made to PACCA.. The amount field is there in the list of "Fields to be Changed" in the planning level where this Exit will trigger.
On Receiver side, receiver postings is based on referencing ODS sender cost center. Each receiver receives proportion of corresponding sender assessment amount (based on percentage) and this is posted to the specified value field to the specified receiver characteristics like sub-region, profit center, sub LC and/or LC which will be obtained from again ODS. The weighting that each receiver gets is determined by the exit referencing the dta in BPS COPA planning area (PAREVCOG) for specified plan version and value field (as listed in rules stored in ODS) and determining the weighting that each receiver should get. This updates will made to PAREVCOG.
Ravi, This is high level requirement.
Now, it would be great, if you have something similar or you can guide me how exactly I have to proceed step by step. I am really new to BPS so some sample code it would be great help.
