New to Connect Enterprise - manage content/persmissions
I am a new administrator of our Connect Enterprise
Server [we have it on our own server, it is not hosted elsewhere] I
am trying to logically set up several different "rooms"
[administrators?] Groups and Content Folders. I am having a heck of
time. I have a license for 10 "rooms" [administrators?] who can
create meetings, add users (participants?) assign users to meetings
and promote them to host. After that, things become a mess! I want
each host of each assigned meeting the ability to manage their own
uploaded content, and I can't seem to set permissions where they
can do that. Currently they can access uploaded content via the
Meeting >Manage room with connect enterprise manager. Once they
get in there, they cannot create new folders, nor can they move it
(even to a shared folder that I thought I gave them permission to
'manage' that folder...)
I will manage about 12 to 15 individuals who will
host/present meetings -- each will upload a LOT of content. Each of
the other Administrators (of my 10 allowed) will be needing to do
the same thing. Can I give someone who is currently a participant
assigned to a group, and promoted to host for specific meetings,
permission to manage a folder of content? ANY help would be
appreciated.

not entirely sure what is being said here, but there certainly isn't a "source" menu option in v3.x
Copied word for word from every step on ATV
yes but it appears you using a version of the firmware which is more than 1 year old (and has been updated numerous times since then).
I believe you hit the time right on the button.
I did get this unit about this time a year ago.
Never could do anything with it at the shop not having wifi or internet.
So instead of throwing it in the ditch, it was a paper weight all this time.
Then a member here sparked an idea to use the ATV vs the iPhone at the shop.
I think I'll leave the Vs right where it is.
It works. Works & Cool, I'll take it.

How do I create a new emkey for Enterprise Manager Database Control?
Hi,
I just installed 11gR2.
I am evaluating it.
How do I create a new emkey for Enterprise Manager Database Control?
I tried various combinations of this command:
emctl config emkey
I did find a probable bug:
$ emctl config emkey -emkey -emkeyfile emkey.ora -force -sysman_pwd he11ow0rld

Again,
How do I create a new emkey for Enterprise Manager Database Control?
I do have a copy of my old key but it is no longer good because I reinstalled the repository with these commands:
emca -repos drop ...
emca -repos create ...
Oh, and where is emctl "documented".
I poked around in some book-index links and with the search engine.
I could not find anything.
Thanks,

Hi,
i have a problem. I'm playing around with the enterprise manager. We never used this one but i guess some thing you can easily do with this. So ...
I configured it with a tut on the web and it worked great but the thing is, that my tnsnames works with services and not with SIDs (like the tutorial said). So i configured a local_listener, and a new listener. Restarted the dbconsole and got.. nothing. It says that the listener is not started but it is and the listener NAME is still the same and i'm able to connect to the database via tnsnames.
Is there a general problem with such kind of listeners?2009-09-18 14:17:55,395 [HTTPThreadGroup-4] ERROR conn.ConnectionService verifyRepositoryEx.891 - Invalid Connection Pool. ERROR = Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connection

How to create a new database using Enterprise manager?
hi all,
thank you for all your support. i want to create a new database . I tried following these steps
i am using Oracle 9i and windows XP
1, opened the enterprise manager by clicking from programs
2,selected launch standalone Application
3, from the tree i expanded the network node and expanded the databases node ,now i can see the globaldatabase i created during installation . i can login that database using systems and manager (username & password )
4, clicked the new database icon from the window , a small window with node named database appeared
5 , I tried to expand that by clicking on the database node ,but it pops up a new window showing no active session selected
I would be grateful if anyone can suggest a solution for this
thanks & regardsHi,
How can i access DBCA
start ---> run ---> DBCA <<hit enter>>
or
start ---> program ---> oracle home ---> configuration tools ---> database configuration assistant.Regards

How to define a new user in Enterprise manager with Specific access rights?
Hi,
I want to create a new user in OEMS 11g who should be able to access only the scheduler jobs section.
How can this be acheived? You can create new administrators via the Setup --> Administrators page
You can grant certain access rights to targets, you can not however grant priv to only access the job system
Take a look at http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E11857_01/em.111/e14586/security3.htm#sthref235

Connecting to Oracle 10G Enterprise Manager console
Hi SDNers,
We've recently successfully upgraded Oracle from 9.2.0.7 to 10G (as part of a Solution Manager 4.0 upgrade) and I'm now interested in getting started with the new Oracle 10G Enterprise Manager (web-based console).
I'm at the point where I have EM up and running, but it is not connecting to our SAP database because it is trying to connect to port 1521, whilst the database uses 1527.
Does anyone know how to change the EM configuration so that it points to port 1527 and therefore connects to the SAP database?
Thanks in advance,
Arwel.Yep!
Here's a copy of its contents:
Thanks,
Arwel.

Error in creating new listener from Enterprise Mgr Console
When I try to create a new listener from Enterprise Manager Console, it displays an error message: Error in getting data for creating new listener. Check if the listener.ora location "/u01/app/oracle/product/10.2.0/db_1/network/admin" is a valid one. It is absolutely a valid ORACLE_HOME, in fact, I can setup TNS Connect Alias and Profiles from here, but the listener has became a pain in the neck.
I know I can use the java netmgr or netca or even vi to set it up; however, it is a must that it has to be done through Enterprise Manager Console (show EM manageability issues).
Thanks for your feedbackCredentials are valid, so the ORACLE_HOME path, otherwise I would not have been able to modify the other TNSNAMES.ORA and SQLNET.ORA.
I use the ORACLE_HOME owner credentials (oracle user at the OS level).

Enterprise Manager: File is binary
Hi,
I installed Oracle 11g on Open Suse 10.3. It worked fine, I can connect, Enterprise Manager and Listener are started (status: running)
If I try to start EM in my browser (http://localhost:1158/em), I get the message, the file is binary....
Who could help me?
Thanks
AndreasBy chance is your enterprise manager configured to use SSL? If this is the case, then change the protocol definition at your URL address. Change http by https.

How to disable autostart of Enterprise Manager Cloud Control (EMC12cr2)
Hi Everyone,
I am new to Oracle Enterprise Manager Cloud Control 12c Release 2 ( EMC12cr2)
Recently, I have installed EMC12cr2 on Oracle Linux 6.3. I follow one document to install, and It was ok after the installation.
But after I reboot the testing server, I found out that it is very slow as the EMC12cr2 services are auto start at boot such OMS, and agent.
So could you please tell me how to disable the EMC12cr2 or OMS service from auto startup, so that it makes the system reboot faster.
Thanks in advance,Take a look at this article on My Oracle Support - 1478617.1
It's a little older, but the same idea applies. There is a script in /etc/init.d/ called gcstartup, you can comment out the startup lines in there with a hashtag. -

And i would like to know how to set up the environment variable for Oracle_HOME and ORACLE_SID.
Please kindly assist me on this.Looking at the error message "The Network Adapter could not establish the connection" , It appears hostname and port may be incorrect. Review the targets.xml under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\emd and
emoms.properties under E:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db_1\SAP_solman_SDB\config folder to make sure host ( sap_solman) and port (1527) are correct.
As far as setting the environment variables goes, you can go to control panel -> system -> advanced -> environment variables and set the ORACLE_HOME and ORACLE_SID

Hi
I am having a problem with Oracle EM. I would appreciate very much if anyone can help me.
I installed Oracle on XP which runs on virtual pc on XP as well. Everything is fine, I can connect to database with sqlplus, and there were no errors during installation.
But the problem is that, when I try to connect to database with EM, it says:
Enterprise manager is not able to connect to database instance . The state of the components are listed below.

When you want OEM DB , your existing DB should be created by DBCA or if suppose manually creaed DB then you have to configure that DB to EM by
"emca -config dbcontrol db -repos create". for these two cases istener should be running.
emctl start dbconsole -> to start dbconsole service
emctl status dbconsole-> status of servicesI am sorry, I was looking at $ORACLE_HOME\admin . And in the proper path, both listener.ora and tnsnames.ora do exist.

Cannot connect to Enterprise Manager
Hi,
I am using Oracle 10.2g for our database, which is growing regularly on a daily basis. Today, the database ran out of table space (which happened before too and I have resolved it by adding another table from EM).
So, when I tried connecting to Enterprise Manager (EM), i was unable to connect to it.
https://<localhost>:1158/em/console/logon/logon
I did some research and found some tips for the same:
1) Resize the table-space by using .. "alter database datafile" .. command. It did not work.
2) Restarted the computer but it did not work too.
The surprising part is that I can connect to the database using SQL/Toad but I simply cannot login to Oracle EM. Can anyone please help me?
Or can anyone help me on how to add another table (because the one I am using currently is maxed out) from SQL+?
Thanks,

when i try to connect to the web browser based app running on port 1158
(according to contents of install/portlist.ini ) I get the error
You have chosen to open em which is a: application/octet-stream from http://localhost:1158/em.

Unable to connect to the database instance using Enterprise Manager.
I just install Oracle 10gr2 in my computer and after successful installation created a database instance which also install successfully. I then configure the listener using Net Manager and then start the database instance, the listener and dbconsole, everything seems to work fine and checking the status of this services from the command prompt indicates everything started successfully. But when I try to use Enterprise Manager I was directed to the Database Down Page with a message unable to connect to database instance. I try to use startup and perform recovery but every time I log-in to the database an error message comes out:
SQLEXCEPTION
ORA-00604: error occurred at recursive SQL level 1
ORA-12705: Cannot access NLS data files or invalid environment specified.
It seems for Enterprise Manager to connect to the database it needs to access this NLS(National Language Support) data files or specify an environment variable to point to this data files. I am just new to Oracle and I am having difficulty solving this particular problem. Where is this data files located and how do I configure Enterprise Manager to access this NLS data Files?
Any help however small will be highly appreciated. Are you able to connect to the database via SQLPlus?
What Operating System are you using?
Assuming Windows, can you RUN regedit to open Windows Registry and check the value or NLS_LANG when you select
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\ORACLE\KEY_<your_oracle_home>
Examples of vaules you may find:
1. ENGLISH_UNITED KINGDOM.WE8MSWIN1252
2. AMERICAN_AMERICA.US7ASCII
3. AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
4. FRENCH_FRANCE.WE8MSWIN1252
5. GERMAN_GERMANY.WE8MSWIN1252
If you are not able to connect to SQLPlus, from the command prompt try setting one of the above:
e.g.
D:\>set NLS_LANG=AMERICAN_AMERICA.WE8MSWIN1252
D:\>sqlplus /nolog
SQL>connect sysman/password
