Iv just purchased premier pro cs5.5 to move up to professional level.
what iv been using is top end consumer editing software (power director and sony vegas)
With these softwares there is lots of custom templates available from there sites ie title templates and pip templates.
is there any available for premier pro cs5.5 ? or is there seperate add on softwares

Welcome to the forum, and to PrPro CS 5.5.
By "templates," I assume that you are referring to what is called a Sequence Preset in PrPro. Those are built in, plus, you can create your own, with Custom.
After the Help file, I would look over the great material in the FAQ Section. Todd Kopriva has created a lot of great tutorials, and they will help you get up to speed quickly.

I just bought a brand new Photoshop CS5.

I just bought a brand new Photoshop CS5. When I start the installing from the cd I have to type in my serial number, which is <serial number removed> The installer says "This serial number is used for Photoshop CS5" all is good. After installing the program, I start it for the first time. Then I have to type in my serial number again for Photoshop CS5 Extended Trial, but now it says "This serial number is not valid for this product".
What is wrong? What am I doing wrong?

I am guessing that you do not want to use the CS5 Extended version if you only purchased the non-extended version. Serial numbers are product specific. If you continue to have problems, contact Adobe support thru chat:

Digital Audio Output - Mac Pro and New OS/CS5.5 Install

Hello all...
I hope I can word this properly - had a hard time with a search.
For my audio setup with Production Premium I use an external DAC/Amp which connects to the computer via the optical digital output. I have used this setup for years with no issues, including a year of Adobe Production Premium CS5.
Today I did a fresh install of Snow Leopard, updated to 10.6.8, and then installed (clean) ProductionPremium CS5.5.
I then set up After Effects, Premiere and the OS to use the "built-in digital output"
Here is what is strange - and something I never noticed with previous installations - each application seems to take over the output, and then "release" it when I switch apps.
Let me explain - when the DAC unit gets an audio signal from the optical cable, it makes a small audible click and then a second later the sound comes out of the speakers. With my previous installations, I only heard this click once - when I booted up the computer. After that, the signal stayed locked and I heard everything perfectly.
With this new installation, I have everything set up the same as far as I can tell, and I get sound, but I get that signal click EVERY TIME I switch apps. Working in Premiere, have sound... switch to After Effects, no sound, then click, then sound again. Switch to Premiere, click again. Switch to finder, click.
What's worse, is that Premiere seems to lose control because of this. For example, say I start in Premiere, do some edits, then move to AE. I have sound in Premiere, everything is fine. Do some work ini AE, get the click, but all is still fine, but then back to Premiere, I get the click, but no sound, and Premiere won't play anything back. I hit space and the play button in Program view turns to a stop button, but the time indicator doesn't move and I get no playback. If I go in to prefs, change the audio, and then change it back, Premiere works again!
Besides this headache, I also miss short sounds like system alerts and beeps, because they play before the audio 'locks' in.
EDITED TO ADD: Just noticed this - if I am running either Premiere or After Effects, in the "Sound" System Preference Pane, I get an option to set the output to "After Effects CS5.5" or "Premiere CS5.5" -- so it seems like the OS is treating is separately and switching when I move between apps - this definitely never happened before!
This is baflfing to me because I never had this problem before, and I am aware that my setup is probably not very common, but anyone with insight, please help!

I won't be able to try it until back in the studio tomorrow but it may just be what I need - will report back here. Seems that it is an OS issue though and not an Adobe one.

My brand new illustrator cs5 keeps crashing my mac osx 10.7.2 ???

I have recently purchased the Adobe creative suite 5.5 design standard student and teachers edition. Every time I try to use Adobe Illustrator it freezes when I try to save a document, I can't even force quit the program so I need to shut down my whole computer ?? I am running Lion on a new imac osx 10.7.2
Can someone please help or at least tell me how to get help from Adobe I'm utterly confused !!

Try these steps
1. Quit Illustrator.
2.Go to User/username/Library/Preferences/ Adobe illustrator CS5.1 Settings and trash the settings folder, the whole folder not just the contents of the folder..
3. Start Illustrator. Illustrator creates a new preferences file.
Then Repair the Permissions using the Disk Utility in the Applications/Utilities folder.
Last part is important.
It sounds like the permissios to a directory has been unintentionally set to read only.
You might have to repair find and repair it manually.
It could be one of your hard drives or partition or a folder and probably it is somewhere along the path leading to the location at which you are trying to save your files.

Migrated from iMac to new iMac, CS5.5 missing components

Hi,
I'm being asked to reinstall Photoshop CS5.5 because "some of the application components missing from the Application directory" after I Migrated from an older iMac to a new one. Also InDesign is quitting unexpectedly, with no other message than "send to Apple."
I can't seem to figure out how to download the program again from Adobe to fix this. I bought CS5.5 in February 2012 and selected the "download only" feature, which I hope I am not going to regret. It should have been easy to find a way to download it again and deactivate the old computer (I have another older iMac I'm keeping activated).
Where can I download the CS5.5 that I bought less than 9 months ago? I don't want to upgrade to 6.

Extract background missingin new PS CS5

I recently upgraded my very old Photoshop to the new CS5, but my extract capability is missing.
I have looked in Filter, Layer, Image, and can't find it anywhere.
When I go to the help section, there is a link to download a plugin, which I have done, but now what??? It is still not there.
That is one of the main reasons that I upgraded, so that I could use the new extract function.
Anyone know what to do?

Edge Detection: The Extract filter was left out of CS4, although it was available as a separate install. (Rumor has it that the new Edge Detection feature wasn’t ready for CS4 and was pushed back to CS5.) While the Extract filter got a lot of bad press, it was really due to misuse. Luckily, Photoshop CS5 does a better job than the filter. Selection of complex edges, such as curly hair, has always been a problem. The Edge Detection setting is now part of the Refine Edge and Refine Mask dialogs. The feature is fairly easy to use: make a selection or a layer mask, open the Refine Edge dialog (Select>Refine Edge), and use the Refine Radius tool (E) to brush over the desired area. (There’s an Erase Refinements tool [just press Shift-E] in case you don’t like the results and want to try again.) In addition, there’s a Smart Radius checkbox with a Radius adjustment slider to make selections even easier. This tool makes short work of some tough selections, but it’s not for every image. I found it worked great on some images, but not others. You still might want to bone up on using the image calculations for advanced selections.

New to CS5... NEED URGENT HELP :)

Ok I just switched from CS3 to CS5.5. Now in the past when I saved a multi-page PDF in Illustrator I had no problems. Now when I save the file and open it the printer marks and color bars appear.
How do I get around this problem? I need to modifiy this PDF and its the only thing I have to work from.

I think they are starting with a workable multi page PDF file. They are opening each page in a separate tab and editing it. Then after clicking save in each tab, the changes are saved in the origional PDF, but with printers marks. They do not want the marks to show.
At least, that's how I am understanding it.
I think something is going on somewhere in their save as PDF prefs. I haven't used CS5 though, or Mac for that matter, and can't look around to see what would make this happen. Not to mention that I'm very new to the business comparitavely speaking.
But that's what I think the issue is...however, I've been wrong before

Video card news and CS5 / MPE

With the upcoming launch of CS5 and the Mercury Playback Engine, this may be interesting.
Side note: We do not yet know whether FERMI cards will be supported.
The GTX480 has simply the fastest GPU. An average speed gain of about 15 percent from the HD 5870. The ATI costs around $ 400, while for Nvidia's latest about $ 500 is to be paid. So far there is not anything remarkable, because in hardware land there is a premium for the fastest of the fastest in our homes.
The HD 5970 throws a spanner in the works. This dual-GPU card actually leaves the GTX480 in the dust, the performance of ATI's top model is on average around 35 percent better. The HD 5970 is again one hundred U.S. dollars more expensive than the GTX480, but both the HD 5870 and HD 5970 offer more performance per dollar.
There are obviously more factors than price-performance ratio. The GTX480 however loses when it comes to energy usage, even when the benefits are taken into consideration. Indeed, energy consumption is only marginally lower than that of the faster HD 5970. The associated noise is also a drawback; here the HD 5870 and HD 5970 cards are the clear winners.
Then there's more to be considered. AMD now has the Eyefinity technique with which three displays can be controlled. Nvidia counters with 3D Surround Vision: this could also be driving three screens, but there are two graphics cards in sli needed. With three 120Hz displays it is even possible to provide three displays of 3D images.
Prospects appear bleak for the GTX480, but the card can not be discarded - at least not until the GTX480 is in the shop and the actual price is clear. If retail prices are slightly below the recommended price, while the HD 5870 prices are kept artificially expensive because of high demand, Nvidia's latest offer may be a good option. Nvidia has already stated that the cards will be fully stocked from April 12. In the more distant future may be Nvidia can improve drivers and yields, which can push down the price further and further to improve performance. How much performance gain the card can achieve is the question. Who wants the fastest of the fastest can better invest in the HD 5970.
Now the question arises:
Assuming MPE will support the FERMI cards, which one is better:
1. The ATI HD 5970 is fastest but does not benefit from CUDA and supports DX11
2. The GTX 285 is much slower but benefits from CUDA and supports DX10
3. The GTX 480 is slower than ATI and may benefit from MPE and supports DX11
These are interesting times for all that want to change their graphics cards. The waiting is for some benchmark tests to shed some light on what is ahead for us.
And let's hope Adobe extends the MPE option to include ATI cards...

the specs on the HP systems are pretty weak.
a Xeon 3503? no such thing.. do you mean 3530?
a Xeon 3530 is the exact same thing as a Core i7 930
ECC ram will slow the system down and is not needed
8 gig ram is wrong for a 1366. it needs to be triple channel so 6 or 12 gig.
bare minimum is 3 hard drives.
as mentioned that video card is a joke. HP has a bad habbit of selling low budget card or very expensive cards.
dont buy into the "quadro" name and this all is well.
better to buy from a custom NLE builder

Server-side includes not showing in new DW CS5.5. Any suggestions?

I have used DW for years and years and have never had any problems. I just installed CS5.5 and am not seeing my php includes in the design pane. I've searched the forums but have not found a working answer.
I'm editing files I've edited in CS5 and earlier with no problem.
I've checked the server-side includes box in the configuration but no change occurs.
Does anyone have any suggestions?

What testing server setup do you have? Are you using something like WAMP?
What do you see on screen which tells you the SSIs are not rendering? Any error message?

Lost items in "new to CS5"

I am running CS5 on An Imac OSX and Ihave lost the "content aware" funcion among other things.Can somebody help?

Thank You for your reply. I have been playing around to find out what I am doing wrong as I was not getting any reply. I worked out that I have to copy the image before it will respond.The content aware was not showing in the list until I did so. The item is greyed out until an actual selection is made. It is working fine now. However, I still don't have the" content aware" box showing in the top line of my selection preferences as it used to do.

New features CS5

I've read about a few new things. I don't see them and I've just downloaded 4.0.1.26
output to web.
I don't even get it, I click on it and it does not come up at all.
It does not exist anymore.
I click from toolbar output, a dropown highlights output to web or pdf, nothing happens.
Export panel, read about it, cannot find it.
export jpegs, read about it, cannot find it.
editable path bar. Don't understand that, can someone explain it. thanks!

I click the little icon, and what's real stupid, is then there is a drop down
with one stupid choice: ouput to web/ pdf.
Still, nothing happens. is there a menu alternative? what can I do??????
As you are used to go with the mouse over fly out menus the later PS and
Bridge version use a different technology, it looks nicer but the downside
is you have to press mouse button again to activate it.
So click on the output icon in the path bar and then again click on the
'output to Web or PDF' line to activate it.
An other way to select this panel is to choose 'Output' from the workspaces
menu in the top bar right side from Bridge. If you don't want to click the
triangle always just grab the 2 dotted small vertical lines left to the
first workspace and drag it to the left, you will reveal the other
workspaces to a visible place in the top bar.
I found export. I can't seem to get whatever is in the list, the facbook, the
hardrive I don't want anymore out of there. how do you delete what you don't
want from the panel list?
As you revealed it using the window menu and checked Export just uncheck
this option in the same menu again to let it disappear from the workspace
view. Or put your cursor over the tab and with right mouse click choose
close export.
There are often more ways to reach the same in Adobe app's
O - how do I move tabs? Can't seem to do it. When I try bridge create new
sections and screws up my workspace.
You have only 3 columns to work with in Bridge. But you can drag them around
as you like. Put your cursor between horizontal or vertical borders and you
see a sign with two little arrows both directions. Now you can drag to
change the size of the panels in width and height.
When grabbing a tab you can move it. Move to another tab this tab will be
bordered around with a blue line, if you let go the tab it will nest as
second tab in this panel. When dragging the tab between horizontal borders
or top and bottom it shows a single blue line, when released it will nest
either in between the panels or at top of bottom as a separate panel. You
can also drag the top or bottom of a panel to change its height.
Plenty of options to create your own workspace. If you are happy with the
result go to triangle next to the workspaces in the top bar and choose new
workspace. Save it with a name you will easy recognize. You are always able
to restore a default or customized (but saved) workspace by clicking on it
and to resize it to original by clicking reset workspace

Error installing new brushes CS5

Hi, im trying to instal new brushes, this used to work fine just 2 days ago, but now all of a sudden i get aplication crash errors, i have placed the the abr in the brush map but still nothing happens in PS itself.

My earlier advice still applies. Look up the crash logs.
Things that, in general, can make Photoshop unstable where it used to work:
3rd party plug-ins recently installed.
Drivers with bugs recently installed (e.g., a new display driver via Windows Update).
Bad fonts recently installed.

Odd New Behavior cs5

My layers are normally blue when i select them. Sudeenly, they are gray when i select them.
I can normally can click the gray area surrounding the canvas an deselect but now it just selects the BG (background). When i move the BG it seems to be moving the channel and not the object.
EXAMPLE: the BG is yellow the text is back because i designed it that way, but with the new behavior..... when i move the BG the yelow turns red and the text becomes a darker red.
I think i have accidentally hit a key comand that makes the move tool select the channel. So what keyboard short cut would that be so i can toggle back?
also, is there something to look for that indicates that mode?

Check and see if your in Quick Mask mode.

New to CS5.5, how to have existing animation play within the final flash animation

Hey everybody, I'm really new to flash professional CS 5.5, just learning the ropes.
For my situation, I have a certain set of motion twains that I've successfuly completed, they constantly loop right now (default), and is saved in the SWF file.
I'd like to take that finished looping animation, and insert it within another animation (a) that can be played with a play button, and stopped/resetted with a stop button.
How do I insert the completed looping animation into the main animation? And is there something special I have to do in the actionscript of the start and stop buttons so that the "inner" looping animation will start and stop with the "outer" main animation?
I really appreciate your help!

convert your animation to a movieclip: shift-drag to select all the frame and layer, right click the highlighted frames/layers and click copy. click insert/new/new movieclip and into frame 1, right click and click paste.

Can't install new boxed CS5 upgrade

I keep trying to enter my CS4 number when I am trying to upgrade my Photoshop to CS5. Where do I find my photoshop number? Of course, the entire call center is closed for the weekend. PS5 refuses to see any creative suite number as valid? I have boxes of every upgrade since CS came out here, 1,2,3 &4. None of the serials allow me to upgrade.

But I think Adobe could make it clear in a sidebar on every product information page so people do not fall into these traps.
Not everyone drills down into the fineprint - or is even aware that they need to. Adobe does overcomplicate things at times.
