New to FaceTime-Basics needed
I'm wanting to connect via Face Time to a friend that has both a Mac laptop and iPad2. Friend already has Face Time up and working. I'm a complete newby to Face Time. What do I need to know/do so I won't run into the problems I see in the forum?
First I need to purchase Face TIme from App store. I've never done that before either. I plan on buying an iTunes card today and use that to make my purchase. I'm assuming I can do that. Just feeling my way thru this as this is all new to me.
Does the app come with instructions? Is there a link I can go to that has step by step instrucitons?
My connection to internet is via broadband (no modem). I want to Face Time with my iMac as I have no laptop, iPad, iPhone, etc.

You are right that you will need to buy the app and install it from the App Store. Info on how to use the Mac App Store is here:

Once you have installed it, FaceTime is simple to use. Instructions are available from "Help."
(1) Easy answer - launch FaceTime, read, & follow directions from Mac's FaceTime help menu command:

TS3367 Facetime is needing wifi message keeps popping up.
My mother's iphone 4 does not have wifi and the FaceTime is turned off. When she dials someone's number on the keypad, a message saying Facetime is needing wifi keeps popping up. Any idea how to make this message stop popping up? It's frustrating when she's trying to call someone.
Sorry I'm taking so long in replying. Thanks for all the replies. For some reason, the popup isn't coming up anymore (I don't know what resolved that!). We live in two different states so it is difficult to be able to know what problems she's telling me about. She's 79 and this is her first time working with any type of Internet and Email technology (my brother basically "threw" this on her).
Now when she opens the Mail app she only gets a blank page, gray at top, gray at the bottom, with no wording (i.e. Inbox) and after a second or two, it automatically goes back to Home screen. I thought maybe her Mail was Off, so I had to "talk" her into Settings, then to check to see if Mail is On. It is. I myself am not familiar with Iphone. And my idiot brother who's had one for a couple years tells her to talk to me when she has a problem. -

As Pat said, you need to be much more specific and provide a lot more info. Without that even if there were such a thing as personal support (which there isn't beyond install and basic tech issues) nobody could help.

I downloaded facetime about 1 year ago and since then I have updated my OS and it wont let me open facetime anymore? It says my Mac OSX is too new for facetime?
If you now have Lion or Mountain Lion OSX, then Facetime is an integral part of those operating systems. In other words they are included, you can't and don't need to download Facetime from the App Store.

I have just received a new iphone 5s and need to set the Apple ID with my work email. I used my work email on my personal iphone 4s to set up an icloud account and it will not let me use this email as the Apple ID on my new iphone. As it is a work phone I need to use this email address as my Apple ID. How do I do this?
when you open the app store scroll down to the bottom it will display the apple id currently in use, change it to your normal apple id email

How on earth do I update my Apple ID to my new email address? I keep getting moved to 'change my password' sites, but I have a new email address and need to update my Apple. Frustrated!!
Firstly, if you have 'Find My iPhone/iPad/iMac' enabled on any of your devices, turn it off.
Create a new email address, for example at Yahoo or Gmail, or anywhere convenient (or you can use an existing address as long as it has never been associated with an Apple ID).
Go to http://appleid.apple.com and click 'Manage your Apple ID'. Sign in with the current ID.
Where it says 'Apple ID and primary email address' and gives your current ID email address, click 'edit'.
Enter your new address and click 'Save changes'.
Now you will need to go to each of your devices and sign out in System Preferences (or Settings)>iCloud - 'Sign out' on a Mac, 'Delete this account' on an iOS device (this will not delete the account from the server).
Then sign back in with your new ID. Your iCloud data will disappear from your devices when you sign out, but reappear when you sign back in.
I re-iterate: before you start, turn off 'Find My Mac' (or whatever) or you will need the services of Support. -
i'm a new mac user and need to program future email's. How can I do that? in outlook I can make a change in the date that the email will be sent. How I do that in mail?
There isn't a way directly in Mail.

As far as I know they can't be deleted, just remove any personal info from it (credit card details etc) and stop using it.
If you downloaded any content via it then you will need to remember it and it's password, as content is tied to the account that bought/downloaded it, so if you move to a new computer you'll need to authorise the account on it if you want to use any of its content there (or if you bought apps with it you'll only be able to download updates to them via that account) -

I just bought a new iPhone and accidentally backed it up with my old iPhone backup, I do not want this. I lost everything on my new phone and I need it back. PLEASE HELP! This includes pictures and texts, etc.
So just to be clear, when you say "just bought" how long ago was that? Is it on this new iPhone that you had pictures, texts, etc that you want? Were you backing up to iCloud or onto iTunes?
This may not help for everything but if you go to iCloud.com and log in, are you able to find your pictures there? -
I received LR 5 for Christmas but have not downloaded it yet on my computer. I have had LR 3 for about 4 years. I am due to buy a new computer soon but need to know how many licenses/downloads I will get before downloading LR 5 on my current computer. I may also purchase a laptop in the next year so that would require 3 licenses altogether (current iMac, future iMac, future macbook).
You have one license.
You can download and install it on an infinite number of computers, as long as it is only installed on two of your computers at any one time, and in use on only one computer at any given time.
So in your case, current iMac, that's would mean its installed on one computer, no problem. Future iMac and future MacBook ... so if you uninstall from current iMac and install on Future iMac and future MacBook, it's now installed on two computers at a time, no problem, as long as you're not using Lightroom on both simultaneously. And if after that, you got two new computers and uninstalled Lightroom from the previous two, you're still good, it's only installed on two computers at any one time. -
how to get access to my iCloud back up when setting up a new iPhone 5s which needs the newest version of iOS7 first?
Set up the new phone as a new iPhone (without using your backup), then update it to the latest iOS (7.1.2). Then go to Settings>General>Reset, tap Erase All Content and Settings, go through the setup screens again and when given the option, choose Restore from iCloud Backup and follow the prompts. See if there's a non-explicit version and download that? Just download the individual songs you want, and not the others?

well dude I can only let you know that as I work with those programme I don't have to pay for it is my company that pays the programme I whant to use( that's why I was asking if there where other programmes ..that I could use with lion insted that Illustrator and Flash!)..I know Adobe since 2005 and I can say that Adobs products are very good...I think that if it's an Adobe probleme or fault ..they will solve it very soon...but unfortunally I have the impression that after Jobs passed away Appel decided to change politics..and everything started to go very bad! Where is the Apple problem? I have CS4 and CS5 running perfectly fine on my Macbook Pro. Installed 5 after Lion upgrade. Worth every cent. Adobe did have some catching up to do with Lion but with the CS5.5 update all runs fine. But not yours. So it is a problem with the Lion OS? You say you have been with Adobe since 2005. So you would be aware of all the other issues that Adobe had catching up with past Oss in Mac and Windows then. They get it right, but it is up to them. It is not up to Apple, nor Microsoft for that matter, to run around and check that every software developer in the world is running their business properly.
And what has politics got to do with anything. Some people just have to blame Software for their poor Hardware maintainence of failure of the same.
