NEW TO iPod...Need assistance on pitfalls to avoid before I buy!

I am contemplating purchasing the 160GB iPod Classic and am an active Windows XP user on a regular PC. However, I have seen multiple posts/news articles about the new iPod Classic not syncing with the new iTunes version 9...
I would hate to purchase such a great product only to find out that I am unable to upload my current music files to the iPod (basic WMA or MP3 files), or encounter other unforseen issues.
Can anyone please provide any insight into what I should be aware of before making this purchase? THANKS!!

i think issues with itunes should be the least of your worries, as those can always be fixed with firmware updates. i would be more worried about hard drive failure with the classic
just keep in mind that any hard drive based ipod like the classic has a good chance of crashing or failing on you if you don't take proper care of it. Unlike flash based ipods like the nano or the ipod touch, you have to be wary about taking the classic out on jogs or any activity that involves a lot of movement and shock for you ipod. Also if you drop the ipod enough times or expose it to extreme heat/cold, you are probably going to get some type of hardware failure with the classic. i would consider getting the 64gb ipod touch instead although it does cost more money, but I feel it's more reliable and I think in the long run, the Touch will have a longer lifespan than the classic and will still be relevant in the near future. I've heard reports of Ipod classics lasting only about a year or even less before experiencing some type of problems. But perhaps that's only a small percentage of people. However, judging from past experiences, I used to have a 20gb hard-drive based ipod that performed well for about 10 months before dying out, and I very rarely ever mishandled it.
But if you must get the classic, then invest some money in a good case or protector and be sensible about how you handle and use it. Otherwise, I do think it is a great product for people with large libraries.

They said I would need a router to let these vlans connect to each other so we
bought the Cisco SA 520 router. So from the router where should I start to connect
vlan 10 on switch 1 and vlan 10 switch 2?
I know this is simple to you guys but please show me the initial configuratioin

Our school has plenty of students and staff.
We are planning to segregate the students machines to staff machines plus the new voip and the servers as well.
So the school director suggested to use VLAN and use Cisco switches.
Network Plan:
Router: Cisco SA 520 router
We are all connected in 1 Domain and just want to segregate traffic.
SWITCH 1 SG200 50-50 IP:192.168.1.250
VLAN 10 = PORT 1-10 ACCESS MODE (This is for the Servers & Printers)
VLAN 20 = PORT 11-48 ACCESS MODE (for the Staff)
SWITCH 2 SG200 50-50 IP:192.168.1.251
VLAN 30 = PORT 1-20 ACCESS MODE (for the IP Phones) VOICE
VLAN 40 = PORT 21-48 ACCESS MODE (for Students)
Please bear with me because I am new to cisco devices and work only on GUI.
So I just need some simple tutorial let say if I want:
1. VLAN20 (staff) can access VLAN 10 (servers)
2. VLAN 40 (student) can access VLAN10 (servers)
3. VLAN 40 (student) can access only let say port 1-3 in VLAN 10
4. VLAN 20 and VLAN40 should not have an access.
To help myself as well, I am reading documents about VLANs and trying to understand its configuration
but since we need to setup this soon, I have asked an assistance here.

New to SCOM need assistance setting up an Alert / Monitor

I've recently deployed SCOM 2012R2 to accompany our SCCM deployment and to replace other monitoring software. I'm having difficulty figuring out how to create a monitor that will alert us when a logical drive falls below a specified value of free megabytes.
I'm having difficulty in finding documentation that will help me do the following:
We have a 2 node cluster with a 5GB drive (X:) we use as a mounting drive to mount larger disks within as spanned volumes. We need to have a monitor in place so that we know when these drives are reaching the end of their capacity and we need to bring
a new one online. The volumes being mounted here are approximately 2.4TB each. The monitors we want in place are for if the disk has less than 20GB, 15GB, 10GB, 5GB, 1GB, & 512MB ... so I am looking at 6 alerts total for one disk.
Once a disk fills up it we stop all write actions to it and start using the new one, so I also need to stop/prevent any space monitoring on disks not currently being written to.
Any assistance greatly appreciated!

You can create a basic Simple threshold unit monitor. Target the monitor to "Windows server operating system" with the below configuration as per your screenshot.
The below setup will do good for Space below 20GB.
This setup will work if your instance remains same "X:\IMGWH29-33" same all the time in all the machines in which you want this alert.
So what i have mentioned is for the below X:\ Drive throw a alert if the disk space goes below 20 GB.
And as the Permfon is collecting data in MB and not in GB hence i have mentioned threshold as 20000 so if the space goes less than 20000 MB (20 gb) throw me an alert.
Threshold settings Under threshold is critical i.e If it is below 20 Gb throw me an alert, If it is above 20 Gb dont throw me an alert.
Hope this helps. Also confirm if the instance name "X:\IMGWH29-33" remains same all the time or not.

After 1 hr of music playback, 2 month new, 30gig iPod needs charging

I have a 5th generation 30 gig iPod. I've took it out of its box in the last week of July 2006. Most times, the iPod is plugged in to the USB cable and is recharging. I leave it plugged in even when the display shows that it's fully charged.
On Sundays when I go for a walk, I unplug it and listen to some music/podcast. This walk is about 25 minutes short. After the walk, I turn off the iPod. How? By pressing pause and then holding down the center button (or is it the Playback button?) until the power goes off.
That's what I did last Sunday, Sept 10. Since that time, I haven't been listening to the iPod. Since that 25 minute listen on Sept 10, I haven't used the iPod. And it was left unplugged/uncharged. On Wednesday evening, Sept 13, I wanted to use my iPod to listen to audio. But, behold, the battery was low. As a matter of fact, when I pressed the power button, nothing happened for a few seconds, and then I got the backlit-less apple logo on a black background, followed by the big old-school battery logo showing a lightning.
I don't understand why 1 hour of listening on my new iPod is enough to drain it. What am I doing wrong? Doesn't the iPod automatically power off, even if I didn't manually power it off?

Apple will keep coming out with new ipods all the time. I would just stick with the video if I were you.

Should I upgrade from a 30gig to an 80gig? Is it worth it?
It all depends on how much music/videos you have, or want to purchase. If you will be loading your ipod full of moves,videos,music,photos etc...then I would suggest the 80 gig. But on the other hand, personally I think 80 gigs is WAY to much space! I own a 30 gig and its awesome.

Just bought new video ipod need help

Hey everyone...
Yesterday I bought a new 30gig black video ipod.
Using some programs i bought on the internet, i was able to convert the movie "Animal House" to MP4 and put it on itunes.
The computer I did this on was my brothers computer since my computer does not read DVDs... I thought once the movie was in his itunes and in his library, I could simply drag the movie from his library to my ipod but it is not working. I do not know how else to get the movie onto my ipod. This is the second ipod i have bought and all my music is on my computer (Windows... not mac) Please help... thanks in advance

I have all of my music on my computer and my ipod has that music from my computer.
I was using my brothers computer to download this movie because my computer does not work with DVDs and i got it in his itunes on his computer. It is in the right format on his computer. I thought once it was in his library in his itunes, I could plug my ipod into his computer and drag it from his library to my ipod. That is what i used to do with my ipod mini but for some reason it was not working with the video. Is there any way to get the video from his computer to my ipod without syncing my ipod for that computer. Thanks again.

New to BW Need Assistance

Now I'm new to Jcreator and I missed about a month from my computer programming class in school, and am far behind. My assignment right now is this problem p5.12 from Computing Concepts with Java Essentials it says:
"A year with 366 days is called a leap year. A year is a leap year if it is divisible by 4 (for ex.,1980). New to Flash need assistance with autoplay

I purchased a template from template monster that has a Flash Intro. It has a header with a previous and next button and three photos. When the site loads up the first photo drops into place and text flies out from the sides of the photo then when you hit the next button the next photo drops in with its text and so on. I was able to change the photos and text and all works fine. What I want is for the banner to automatically rotate these three images and texts every 4 seconds or when someone hits those next or previous buttons.
Right now the images/text only move if you hit the next or previous buttons. Can someone please point me in the right direction to get this to automatically move by itself.
In dreamweaver I set the Flash to autoplay and loop but that did nothting.

use setInterval (as2) or the timer class to call the next button's onRelease(). (be sure to clear and re-set/re-start the interval/timer when the next or previous button is clicked).

Do I need a version of Adobe Photoshop before I buy Photoshop Illustrator?

You should not need to buy any software as a precedent to purchasing any other software. THere might be some add-on features that you might need a supporting version for, but Illustrator should stand on its own.

I am about to purchase the ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE 4 WEB PREMIUM, but have a few questions before I do so to users of Adobe Suite editions.
Are all the different CS4 software in the above package bundled on one disk, or do they each have there own disk?
If they are all one disk can I update individual components within the above software, when they become available, rather than all the components at once?
Using the included Photoshop as an example:
As Photoshop has many add-ons available on the web, can I download them and integrate them into just the Photoshop program?
If Adobe releases a patch for just Photoshop, can I download it?
Which leads me to the question:
If Adobe releases a new version of Photoshop CS4, like 'CS5', can I update only the Photoshop CS4 in the suit, instead of the whole suit?
Also are there any function issues with Adobe suite in Windows XP?
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What kind of add-ons are to referring to?
I think the answer is yes. If it's a Photoshop add-on, you can use it.

Yes. Product patches are the same whether for a suite version or a
standalone version.

No. Once you upgrade to a suite, you must upgrade to the next suite or not
at all.
Current upgrade paths are:
Standalone version to standalone version
Standalone version to Suite
Suite to Suite
Suite to Standalone upgrade is not available.
Also, bear in mind the current "three versions back" rule for upgrades. You
can only upgrade from the last 3 versions.
So, as the rules currently stand, Photoshop CS is eligible for upgrade to
Creative Suite CS4.
But, Photoshop 7 (one version prior to CS) is not eligible for upgrade to
CS4.

You might try to see if you can change your security questions. Start here, change your country if necessary and go to manage your account > Password and Security.
I'm able to do this, others say they need to input answers to their current security questions in order to make changes, I'm inclined to think its worth a try, you don't have anything to lose.
If that doesn't help you might try contacting Apple through Express Lane (select your country, navigate to iCloud help and enter the serial number of one of your devices)

See a a version compable with your iPod is available:
Starting when iOS 7 was released, Apple now allows downloading the last compatible version of some apps (iOS 4.2.1 and later only)
App Store: Downloading Older Versions of Apps on iOS - Apple Club
App Store: Install the latest compatible version of an app
You first have to download the non-compatible version on your computer. Then when you try to purchase the version on your iPod you will be offered a compatible version if one exists.
Also, if you have iOS 6.1.6 yo have a 4G (has cameras). A 3G does not have cameras and can only go to 5.1.1

In iTunes, look at Help/About iTunes and as the screen rolls up, check for the version number. Ignore the bit that says iTunes 10 in massive bold lettering, wait for the smaller text to appear as the it rolls up. The latest version (on 15th April 2012) is iTunes 10.6.1.7 and the text you should see will simply state iTunes 10.6.1.7. Underneath that will be "gumpf" about copyright etc.
If your iTunes does not say this, then something must have gone wrong with the update you did. How did you do it? The usual way is to simply select (in your iTunes), Help/Check for Updates. In my case, the return message I see states This version of iTunes (10.6.1) is the current version. The alternative message will state something like "there is a later version of iTunes available, do you wish to download it" or similar. Selecting "Yes" would begin the download and if you leave it to run itself, the update should take effect, providing you don't stop it or (I guess) keep iTunes so busy it cannot run the update. It may need to close and re-open before the change takes effect.
At a guess, the reason your daughter's iPod is saying it requires a newer version of itunes is either because you've just bought it, and you have a fairly old version of iTunes - AH!, that may be the problem. >>

Note; the current version of iTunes as I've stated it, may change any day. Apple do not announce when updates will be released. Uisng Help/Check for Updates and seeing the return message This version of iTunes (10.6.1) is the current version is the only sure way of telling that you are up to date.
Additional note; gumpf = slang for "random junk".
