New to iWeb - Curious about posting a web gallery

So I set up a new page in iWeb, a photo page. In iPhoto, I uploaded my web gallery. I then dragged that gallery into iWeb and the thumbnails were there. When I double click one of them, it takes me to the next page but no image shows up. The title of the image is there, but not the image itself. Why is this?
I then published the page to see what happens. When I went to the page however, my header was there, but no thumbnails.
Obviously I'm doing something wrong here.
The photos are online in my gallery, I've checked that. All is well there.
Why won't they show up my my published site? Do I need to activate them somehow?
Thanks in advance!

Instead of adding the gallery to a photos page have you tried using the MMe Gallery Widget in the Show Media/Widgets pane?
That will create an object with skimming features that, when clicked, will take you to the MMe gallery online. This demo page has examples: iPhoto/MobileMe Galleries
Otherwise, create an album of the photos used in the gallery and drag that album into the photos page.

  • Using Aperture to post to Web Gallery

    I was posting to an answered thread so am reposting, having just tried yet again. I have conncection to the net, aperture correctly 'sees' my .Mac site, I select the images to be uploaded to the WebGallery, I have both used the icon drop down and gone into New in the File menu to make the web gallery, the web gallery button or icon spins a bit but then drops off and Aperture reopens into another project all together, not even reopening into the one I was trying to create a gallery from = I cannot create a web gallery using Aperture 2 from either my MacPro or my laptop.

    I imported JPEG images manualy, made with a Lumix FZ-10. The import created a project, which contained all the images. I went through them and applied 'Repair' and 'Blackpoint' adaptations. Then I selected the images (as described in the .mac-Hint from last week, or so), and selected 'Neu->Web Galerie..'. That was indeed wrong, because my selected images were not added to the galery, because I choose the wrong menu; better would have been 'New from selction->Web Galerie'. Now the gallery was published to .mac, and was empty. But .. I selected the images again and drag-droped them into the Webgallery. They showed up, so I selected 'Album übertragen...' (transfere album) from the context menu of the Webgalery in the main project list of Aperture. This brings up a dialog attached to the window, asking if I want to use the new RAW-processor. The choices in that dialog do not allow to skip this step, with any choice I made, the answer is that no RAW-images were found, and that the transfere is finished.
    I just did a test if 'New from selected images->Web Galery..' does anything different, and it indeed does: the images are added to the galery, and published immediately. For now, I can live with the described missbehaviour, but any update to the Web galery may bring up the problem again, I assume.
    (hope you can cope with my translations, thanks!)

  • IWeb cannot see my .Mac Web Gallery

    Hello All,
    I have some albums in my .mac Web Gallery. When trying to do an insert->.Mac Web Gallery, iWeb says "no albums or movies available", even though I do have stuff published.
    Any ideas why could this happen?
    Thanks a lot

    I found that I cannot insert "protected" galleries. Simply allowing "Everyone" access to the gallery, publising, then giving iWeb a chance to catch up -- poof -- it shows and I can add the .Mac gallery.
    After the fact I have gone back in and "protected" the gallery with no ill effects. Other than not seeing it on the insert .Mac gallery menu item again.

  • A small question about iMovie8 to Web Gallery

    I have used all previous versions of iMovie and have had great results. I admit that I am stymied by iMovie8 and have kept using iMovie6 HD. The time has come for me to use both...
    Yesterday, I created a movie in iMovie6 HD and exported it in Quicktime, then uploaded it to my .Mac website. All worked perfectly.
    I now wish to take that same Quicktime movie, import it into iMovie8, and then share/export to a Web Gallery.
    I have imported the QT movie and it has gone into the Events window. After having searched and searched the iMovie 8 Help files, and this board, I cannot for the life of me figure out how to take that Event (my QT imported movie) and get it to a Web Gallery.
    When I click Share, everything is greyed out. Do I have to somehow get the QT movie Event into the Projects pane? If so, how??? I have a feeling that once it's up in the Projects pane I'll be able to Share. I just don't know how to get any further.
    Thanks,
    Rachel.

    Yes.
    Create a new project and drag the clip or portions of it from the events pane to the project pane and share.

  • Error when posting to Web Gallery

    I am getting an error that says "request to the server failed" whn attempting to use the web gallery option?
    Message was edited by: tropaz

    Today I had that same problem with iWeb and iPhoto. Mound your iDisk, go to the Web/Sites folder and see if you can manually add a file to that folder. Any file will do. I was getting the following message:
    This tells me it's a server issue and not iPhoto or iWeb issue. I waited a while and tried republishing and it went thru. Very strange. I reported it so hopefully Apple can look into their servers to see what's causing it.
    Do you Twango?
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance. iPhoto doesn't not have to be closed to run it, just idle.
    I've written an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Cannot post to Web Gallery from iPhone

    Hello,
    I recently bought a 16Gb iPhone and am loving it, I have however come across a small problem when sending pictures to my .Mac Web Gallery. I have several albums which are all password protected, one of which has the setting allowing users to post pictures. When trying to post a picture from the iPhone however, a message is displayed telling me that my Web Gallery has no shared albums. Has anyone come across this and is there something I'm missing?
    Many thanks in advance.

    Th'Duffer,

  • Question about the "Create Web Gallery" function in Bridge

    I created a beautiful Web Gallery using Bridge's built-in function which creates a Photoshop Web Gallery.
    Everything works great except for one thing. When I click the "E-Mail Feedback" button, Apple Mail loads and creates blank e-mail message. This is all good, but for some reason the address line is loading up with data instead of just an e-mail address. I was hoping someone versed in html could tell me what I'm doing.  The source code in ThumbnailFrame.html looks like this:
    function sendFeedback(picName) {
    checkForUnSavedChanges(picName);
    var prefix = "mailto:[email protected]";
    var name = null;
    name = prompt("Enter Your Name:", "Your Name");
    if (name) {
    prefix += "subject=" + escape("Feedback from " + name);
    prefix += "&body=";
    var str = ""
    for (var i in feedback) {
    str += i + " ~~ \n";
    str += (feedback[i].approved == true) ? "Approved ~~ \n" : "";
    str += (feedback[i].other == true) ? "Other ~~ \n" : "";
    str += (feedback[i].comments != "") ? ("\nComments:\n" + feedback[i].comments + " ~~ \n") : "";
    str += "____________________________________________\n\n";
    The address line in the Apple Mail message looks like this:    [email protected]=Feedback from Paul Kirtley&body=
    I want it to look like this:  [email protected]
    By looking at the source code above, can someone tell me how I can make an adjustment to keep "subject=Feedback from Paul Kirtley&body=" out of the address line?
    Thanks!

  • Why is it impossible to sort your images then post to web gallery - sorted?

    I have been messing with Aperature for days and am really dis-enchanted. I have gone through and organized over 700 images in separate categories only to find #1 - when I try to upload the images in a Web Gallery or Web Journal the images cannot be uploaded from a Stack. #2 - if I unstack them first they all go back to the order of when they are uploaded. Also when using the sorting button - it is supposed to put them in order first to last or last to first...depending on which way the button is selected - This does NOT work everytime. Sometimes when you click on the button it does nothing to the order of a group.
    THIS IS RIDICULOUS. There must be a way to organize your images in stacks and then upload in that same order - hello apple - are you listening?

    hi.
    "this is rediculous" — not quite. the problem may be your understanding of stacks. they're not groups. they're compilations of similar/near-identical photos, usually shot in rapid fire. the idea is that when you shoot several near-identical photos, you can easily 'group' them, sort them in terms of quality and then choose the best one (the 'Stack Pick') to represent the stack wherever it might be used.
    for example, when I'm photographing a bird, I don't normally get a second chance to photograph the same bird in the same situation or pose. the depth of field is extremely short and focus can be difficult. camera shake may also affect my images. therefore, I typically take 8 or more photos of the same bird in the same place in less than 10 to 15 seconds (if the bird is kind enough to stay that long; they normally stick in one place for only 1 or 2 seconds). I will typically only need one of these, so I stack the images and choose the best one; i.e., the stack's Pick. I will rarely if ever have to look at the other photos in the stack again.
    if you want to group images from an association point of view, don't use stacks. use albums. albums created within a project will allow you to do exactly what you hope to do. sorting and uploading multiple images from the same group will work. you can even sort manually.
    "Also when using the sorting button - it is supposed to put them in order first to last or last to first...depending on which way the button is selected - This does NOT work everytime"
    if you're using stacks, the Pick of the stack is used to represent the stack and is therefore used to sort the images in your collection; ie, the position of the whole stack in your collection of images is determined by the Pick of the stack.

  • Web Gallery in iWeb Doesn't Behave Like Standalone Gallery

    From iPhoto I published a web gallery of four albums. When you go to the web gallery the four albums appear. The key photo of each album is displayed. If you move your cursor you can skim.
    If I add a page in iWeb and then select Insert Web Gallery and add the galleries each album starts a mini slide show. There is a small black box that flickers on each album icon. When you go to the web album page each web gallery album icon is playing the slideshow. Which is not consistant the way the standalone web gallery works.
    Here is the link to the web gallery
    http://gallery.mac.com/kjritchie#gallery
    Her is the link to the iWeb page
    http://web.mac.com/kjritchie/Site/Web_Gallery.html
    When working in iWeb this motion eats up CPU. I don't remember iWeb doing this a while ago. Is this due to 10.4.11?
    Thanks for any advice.
    Kelvin

    That seems to be the way it is. Albums added to an Album page are static except for skimming and the iPhoto galleries added via the Web Widget feature are dymanic. It appears to be determined by what application creates the entity, iPhoto for the web gallery and iWeb for the album.
    This site has both types side by side and show the difference that you're referring to.

  • Web gallery file size...do I have this straight?

    I've read through the posts so far. I'm new to LR (waiting for my package to arrive, so still using the trial).
    I set up a collection of 57 photos.  Most were raw, the largest being 167,866 KB.  (kinda large)  I tried to upload from LR (thinking maybe it doesn't work in the trial version as I kept getting errors of one kind or another?) and found the total of the files was over 176,000,000 KB.  Hmmm.  So, I went back into PhotoShop CS3 (after another program that usually will batch convert files didn't work) and saved each with 800 ppi maximum on a side, and saved them all for the web. (That took a little time, but not too bad.) Then I had to import the new .jpg folder, and re-edit each photo to maximize their exposure and such.
    Must I do that every time I want to post a web gallery?  In other words, I'll have to keep the original (larger) files, and make a smaller set for web plublishing, and convert everything to a .jpg file as well?  (I suppose there's no sense in filling my server with photos that are much larger than necessary, but it seems like a lot of extra work.)
    Also notice, if I have to start again (it is taking a long time, but then it's my first attempt), the collection I've saved has all the Identity plates and information I've typed in going back to Lightroom defaults, and the order of the photos goes back to random (after I've meticulously tried to put them in order).  Hoping this is just because I'm using the trial again, but no way to know until the box comes in a few days (I hope).
    The feature that caused me to make this purchase is the ability to do these galleries.  I've been looking at templates, modifying them, and working on doing this, for quite some time now. When I saw it's just part of LR...WOW!  I did get excited!  What a useful and wanted feature!!!
    It's more than one question, I know, but I've so many more!  Will the learning every become adequate to do what I dream?  (This last question is rhetorical, by the way.)
    OMGoodness! I thought I saved the gallery in the Collections...clicked on it, and no pics, nothing I did (for the second time) seems to be anywhere.  I have a LONG way to go in learning to use this tool correctly!  Arghhhh!  ... Last revision...went back into the folder, and everything is there.  Wow!  Guess I don't need it in a Collection.  Awesome!

    These files were scanned. I'm sorry, I forgot that.  They're old pics.  Some were in .jpg format, but most were in .psd format.  I converted them to smaller files in the Save for Web Device in Photoshop.  My next gallery will be shots from my Nikon D200, and I checked...the files are about the same size as yours.  These scanned files were considerably bigger as the film was pretty old.  Did quite a few of them previously to last night, and used a dpi (or is it ppi) of higher than 300 I did the last ones in. File size varied from 1,201 KB to 16.765 KB. (That bigger one was a 5X8 school shot.)
    Will it normally send the files to the web full size and then just use the dimensions specified in the program?  I have to check how much space I have on the server, but I do have another gallery I want to make, and I found a great plugin (here on the forum) to add mp3 music to the gallery. (I know, more space, but love it!)  I figured 800 pixels on the longest side would be plenty adequate for viewing, and the gallery parameters are smaller, so that's fine.
    One thing I don't understand, it asked me to place the files in "photos," but I don't think it uploaded a folder of "photos" to the web.  However, it's obvious the files went.  I was afraid if I used the export, I was going to have to upload the folder with my photo files to the server, but I think it handled that.  I hope I get a user manual with my boxed product.  It can't come soon enough!  LOL
    By the way, I successfully posted the gallery tonight.  It's really great, and my son loved it.    I am SO thrilled with this program!!!

  • How to manage a Web Gallery?

    I posted a Web Gallery from Aperture to .mac. How to access the page to edit, or remove from the web?
    How to add it to my Home page on my .mac account?
    I could not find the answer in Help. Help!

    you can get to and delete it in your iDisk/Sites folder
    the address is http://homepage.mac.com/username/nameofsite
    so make a link pointing to that in iWeb (or whatever you are using)
    note that iweb creates sites in iDisk/Web, not iDisk/Sites

  • Iphoto not uploading to Web Gallery - all photos "pending"

    I added some more photos to my existing Web Gallery folders, plus created a new one by dragging them into the Web Gallery folders. However, they all appear as "pending" and are not appearing on the web. I've stopped / restarted Iphoto and my Macbook. I've tried removing and adding other photos to the galleries. I've moved the "com.apple.iPhoto.plist" and "com.apple.iPhoto" files to the desktop as suggested in another post. None of these have worked.

    Yes, and the icons next to the web gallery names alternate between an arrow that goes round in circles, something that looks like a pie-chart / clock, and one that looks like a wireless transmission icon. Hope you know what I mean.
    When I open the web gallery page nothing has changed. I even left it going overnight.

  • Adding Facebook comments to your Lightroom 3 web gallery

    Dear all,
    I'm currently in the process of posting a web gallery into a Wordpress website.
    I wish for the ability to add facebook coments beneith the picutes.
    This hasn't been a straight forward task.
    After following the instructions from Omri Tintpulves page I am still at a loss to make it work for me.
    Is there someone out there that knows how it is at all possiable... and if so could they point me in the right direction.
    Kind regards
    Stu

    Replying to myself.... I solved the problem by creating a new User Account in my OS.  Solved the Lightroom problem and also a problem with Mini Bridge in Photoshop CS5, where it wouldn't open Bridge.

  • Aperture Caption & Web Gallery

    hi everyone,
    I'm just beginning using the web galleries with Aperture.
    Personally, I beleive that the best text to be shown beside each pictures would be the Caption field but someone at Apple have decided otherwise that this should be the picture file name. For me, file name are simply automatic numbers from my camera while I enter pertinent information in the Caption field.
    I know, there is no way of setting this. *But today, I found that when I go into the RSS view of any gallery, beside each picture, I can read my Caption!* That's so weird of not being able to set this in the gallery view. I will ask for this simple but quite usefull feature of being able to set which information we want to show on picture...

    hi Bauhausler,
    I see... but you are talking about Aperture's web page while I'm talking about Aperture's web gallery. While the first one is a static web page, the second is using a more dynamic interface that can be used with .MAC. That's a new feature in Aperture 2.0.
    Besides, this option of the T icon is EXACTLY what I would exept to have for Web Gallerie. It is still surprising for me that Apple haven't implemented this feature in both ways of publishing.

  • Web gallery password

    I am wondering about when I post on web gallery, it asks for a password, and when I use my .mac password from my .mac account, it doesn't work? I am not sure which password I am to use?

    Select the web gallery in iPhoto and click on the Settings button. In the next pane you can edit the passwords and user names for each gallery.
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar.
