New to Mac. How do I install a printer?

I am trying to install a new printer. I have a Aficio MP C2800 from Ricoh. Went on their web page and downlaoded printer software but the printer did not show up as installed on MacBook. How do I install a new printer on MacBook Pro?

Download the mac driver for your printer, from your printer manufacturer.
Open the downloaded file in finder click on it and open it. If using wireless then set up the wirless network on your printer

Is the Adobe CD a MAC app ?
If it is a program for Windows you will not be able to install it.
If you nedd that program you can either buy the equivalent for Mac or install a way to run Windows under Mac (may be a cheaper solution)

  • New to Mac - how to re-install when G4 won't boot from CD

    Hi all
I am completely new to Mac, so bear with me here. I recently bought three G4's from my employer (they took over some old offices of a company that went bust and left all their equipment, which has been lying around for some years now). Wow, for a PC-guy like me it is quite a switch
Anyways, I managed to get one of the running and re-install with new OS (Panther) as I have the original discs.
However, one of them is causing me some problems. It is running OS X Server and has been setup with password - so when I boot up I get prompted to log on and can't get any further. It read a few places that it should be possible to boot from the install discs and then re-set the passwords. I tried holding down C when booting, but the machine won't boot from the CD. Tried holding C before powering on, before the chime, after the chime, when the logo displays, etc. Nothing helps. The key on the keyboard is working (tried it in the user-name box when I get prompted to log on)
I don't care about the conents of the drives - just want to re-install. But how to do that when the C-key isn't working to get it to boot from CD? Guess one of my problems could be that I don't have Mac keyboard and have to plug a Windows-keyboard into it. Also tried pressing the ALT key at boot up, but that does nothing either.
    Help?

It is a server yes. But it doesn't matter though about the lock.
Here's what happened so far which also solved my problem:
    - Moved around on the RAM sticks and then managed to boot into OF
    - Reset security-mode as described in various forums and guides
    - Still couldn't boot from CD - even after resetting PRAM and NVRAM.
    - So I searched the net (sorry to my boss for not doing much work today) and when I came home I was armed with many useful hints to do the dance with the machine.
... but just before we stepped onto the dance floor, I noticed a post-it taped to the side of one of the OTHER machines (I bought three from my employer's storage sale and all three from the same company whose offices they took over). And on that post it was two words one of which was Administrator. It turned out that the other one was the password. Dough. So much ado about nothing. But, at least I learned a lot about the Mac-world along the way.
However, when I pop the CD in I cannot see it when I logged on - faulty device? in "ABout this Mac" is shows the DVD-drive just fine. Is it concivable that someone could have disabled it some way? If so, how do I enable it again?
Thanks everybody for all your patience with me

Connect the two Macs together (network, firewire target mode, etc)  or use an external hard drive formed Mac OS extended (journaled) and drag the iPhoto library intact as a single entity from the old Mac to the pictures folder of the new Mac - launch iPhoto on the new mac and it will open the library and convert it as needed and you will be ready move forward.

You cannot install CS5.5 Windows onto your Mac.
You must either purchase a new copy of CS6 for your Mac or join the Creative Cloud (and pay the monthly fee).
If you join the Cloud you can then install CS6 (and soon version CC) on both your Mac and Windows for the same membership fee.

  • How do I install custom printer profiles in Mac os mountain lion. I can.t fine the icc profiles directory (if that's what it is).

How do I install custom printer profiles in Mac os mountain lion. I can't find the icc profiles directory (if that's what it is).

NOTE: In Lion and Mountain Lion the Home/Library folder is now invisible. To make it permanently visible enter the following in the Terminal application window: chflags nohidden ~/Library and press the Return key - 10.7: Un-hide the User Library folder. You'll need to do it again after each system update that's applied.

  • I'm new to Mac. When iphoto's are printed, they are wavy/blurred.  I've heard there is special process prior to sending to photo processor.  Can anyone tell me how?

I'm new to Mac.  When iphoto's are printed, they are wavy/blurred.  How do I prepare for submitting to photo processor to prevent this?

Larry, thank you for your reply.  Actually, I haven't tried yet.  I'm asking because whenever I receive emailed photos or transferred photos from a Mac (via USB) to my PC, they are wavy or blurred.  Other PC users I talked with have the same problem.  One friend told me this can  be avoided thru a conversion process (I lost the instructions I was given).  I just converted to an iMac, so I am looking for that process.

  • Hard Drive died, ordered new one. How do I install a OS on it?

So my hard drive just died on my mid-2010 MacBook Pro so I ordered a new SSD off Amazon. My question is, how do I install Mountain Lion on my new SSD once I replace the dead one? I don't have a CD, but I did have Mountain Lion on the old hard drive before it died. Will "Internet Recovery" still be an option with the new SSD? If not, what's the next best way to install an OS without having to repurchase a CD or USB?
    Thanks in advance!

If you had your MacBook updated to the most recent version, you can use Internet Recovery to reinstall OS X > http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4718 Note that Internet Recovery is included in the firmware of the Mac, so you don't need OS X installed to use it.
To start in Internet Recovery, hold Command, Option (Alt) and R keys while your computer is starting, and selec the option to reinstall OS X. If you can't install it in the hard drive, close the installer, open Disk Utility and format the SSD in "Mac OS Extended (Journaled)" to be able to install Mac OS X

  • New to Mac how do I enlarge the Command line at the top of the screen OS X 10.9.2

Im new to Mac so this is a learning curve. in windows I could enlarge the fonts so I could read them but I can't find anything to help with the Line at the top of the screen. Please tell me how the blind is to see this small print.

You can try the free app TinkerTool.  It will let you increase the system font size.
I've not used it so can't tell you how effective it is.

  • New gen Mac Mini: Boot Camp install problems

I've got a new version Mac Mini that was just released, 4GB RAM, 250GB hard drive.
Fired up Boot Camp, and pressed the button offering a 32GB Windows partition.
It rebooted into my OEM XP Pro SP2 CD, and installed OK (as in it loaded the files).
The Mini then reboots, and dies with these 3 lines:
*Press any key to boot from CD.....*
    *Disk error*
    *Press any key to restart*
BTW, pressing any key does NOT restart anything. I have to use the power button to down it.
I popped out the XP boot CD by holding down the mouse, and then downed the system again.
Then I held down the Option key, which offers me the boot menu, and I selected Windows.
It then dies again with the bottom 2 lines.
I've tried removing the partition, and asking Boot Camp to make a 30GB partition.
Same end results (it takes awhile obviously to get to the failure).
Also tried a brand-new XP Pro SP3 install CD. Same results.
    Any ideas? Thanks!

    Hi Austra,
I figured it out last night, and you are correct, the default Windows install method will NOT work.
When XP first boots, it actually offers 5 choices, and the default is "Use this filesystem as-is without formatting". It will happily install, but that default choice does not write the MBR (master boot record) onto the disk. When you reboot again, the MBR isn't there, and the firmware halts. One little 512-byte sector keeps it from working.
Really, Apple should write a MBR onto that partition during the Boot Camp process, it wouldn't be all that much extra trouble.
