New to mac where do i start
I just received my new macbook pro today and am totally new to mac (had pcs forever). Any suggestions on where to start or helpful hints?
download "cheatsheet" on app store.
its free and you can know all the shortcuts for each individual app.
just press command key (the one with apple logo on it) and the screen will show you a screen of all the shortcuts on that app.

dont edit folders and subfolders, learn how to manage your itunes, iphoto, aperture, documents inside the app.

and go to your macbook pro Settings, icloud, and log in
iCloud will be your back up for your contacts, Mail, iCalendar, etc. Even Find my iPhone. and it will sync to all your apple devices seamlessly.

New to Photoshop WHERE do I start?? HELP
So I have purchased photoshop 3 for mac 2 weeks ago. I have read the pfd file on getting started. I have browsed through this site but after daily tinkering on the computer with PSE 3.0 I still feel like I know NOTHING and-don't know where to start.
Can anyone direct me to a good and through "getting started" place?
I see that a bunch of really cool things can be done with this software but I don't know how. I feel like I may just have to revert back to editing in iphoto...One thing to do is get
this book.
Open PSE. In the upper left click on the folder icon with the magnifying glass on it.
That gives you your HD.
Navigate to a folder with photos, click on it.
Double click on an image and go nuts.
You can also set iPhoto to open an image in PSE, when double clicked.
Find that in iPhoto preferences. -
New to Java, where do I start??!?!
Hello everyone, let me just introduce myself. My name is Jeff and I am from PA, I am a recent graduate of Penn State university with a bachelors of science in information science and technology, application/integration. My major dealt with alot of analysis/requirements/testing/planning/documentation, with a little bit of programming in such interfaces as HTML, CSS, ASP.Net, and I had one Java course which I could have done better in.
I started my career for a very large well known company in an entry level position. I went in with very little development skills, in the languages that we use here. Mostly everything is Java/Javascript, both of which I am pretty clueless about. They also do alot of web 2.0 stuff using ajax/xml/dojo. I just want to have some suggestions on how I could maybe learn this language a little better, I am not getting anything really so far, because ive just been doing e-learnings and such. I want to start shadowing the developers, but I dont want to go in seeming stupid! Who has some suggestions?Hi and welcome.

I haven't viewed all of your code and probably the other ten views so far haven't either. Look up MVC, model view controller pattern. You already have the model and a console view so far if I follow? if so then adapt your code to a swing GUI. Failing this ask a more theoretical question for now. -
I'm a seller on eBay and very new to Mac. I just started to list an item when I got to the area of uploading pictures of an item to my listing. I cannot figure out how this is done. I downloaded pictures from my camera to iPhoto and they apear not only in my iPhoto library but in an eBay folder/album I created. When I go to upload photos I cannot find my photos in either the Library or the eBay album. I've tried using both the basic uploader and and standard uploader choices provided by eBay.
While running iPhoto you'll need to select the pictures you want to use for eBay and then select Export from the File menu. The Export Dialog box has several options and I believe the second option is File Export - that's the option you want to choose. Now you can select the picture quality, size, and export. The file selector will appear so you can indicate the folder you want the pictures to be exported into. Now you can take the next step, sending them to eBay.

My new mac is freezing on start up. after the initial start up, i did software updates and now its frozen. can anyone help?
If this is really a NEW Macbook Pro and this happened the first time you turned it on and did Software Updated then you need to take it back to where you bought it and RETURN IT FOR A FULL REFUND. Then decide whether to buy another NEW unit or move on to something else.
Apple has a No Questions Asked 14 day return policy. Take advantage of that and return this unit. This type of thing should NOT happen on a Brand new notebook. -
I have an existing mini mac and 4 tb external drive.
My iTunes library exists on the external drive under /itunes...
I have purchased a new mini mac and I want to leave the library where it is on the external drive but move to new mini mac and have it show as it did on the old mini mac..
what do i need to do ?
I have found multitude of articles about moving itunes to external drive or other similar things but I don't want to move itunes from the external drive, just change mini mac machines and have everything in itunes the same..

There are no media files on the mac mini just the library files and on external just media files..
Do I need to copy anything over from the old mac mini ? xml files ? .. the itunes folder on old mini is about 840mb in size which looks to have artwork ect ? .. I am fairly computer literate, but this one has me stumped.. ?

I'm new to Mac, have had for approx. I put my iPhone and iPad and my wifes in iTunes and now when i start my system on. I now have a Guest user show up at the log on screen. Is this normal. And how can I take it off. Tried the help and no luck

I'm new to mac. Just started out. Have OS 10.8.3. I have an HP 1315 printer. It prints and copies, wont scan. I see old threads on this, nothing recent. ?can i make this work, or do i need a new printer??

What driver are you using?

I migrated info from a hard drive to a new mac under time machine. It says I have shared files, but I don't see the old info on the new machine. Where do I look for it ? How do I make the old backup the basis for my new macbook ?
The old OS was Mac X 10.5.8. I think the new one is 10.7.2 Lion.Have a read here How do I set up a new Mac from an old one, its backups, or a PC?

New Intel Mac Mini Start-up Problems
I've recently purchased a new Intel Mac Mini (my first Mac after switching from a PC). Several times (probably once a day), the mac mini won't start-up.
I've noticed it happens after I've used iPhoto or iDVD. The mini becomes busy and performance seems to slow. After the software has finished its task, I can exit the application fine and shut down the mini.
When I then go to boot the mini, the little blue light comes up, but nothing else happens. It's almost as though it's in sleep mode (which it isn't). I've tried different ways to wake it using the keyboard, mouse and start button, but nothing.
The Mac Mini will only start-up again if it is unplugged from the mains and left for several minutes.
Has anyone else had this problem? Is there something I'm doing wrong that my lack of Mac knowledge may not be aware of?
Any help would be appreciated.
ThanksI have been frustrated by the same issue. My (admittedly non-professional) diagnosis is that the problem is related to heat build up. I am able to boot normally only after forcing a hard shut down and waiting for "a while" (5 minutes is not enough, 30 minutes does the trick). Thus my hypothesis that an appropriate cooling down period is needed.
Any similar thoughts? I'm calling Apple today... -
