New to Photoshop WHERE do I start?? HELP

So I have purchased photoshop 3 for mac 2 weeks ago. I have read the pfd file on getting started. I have browsed through this site but after daily tinkering on the computer with PSE 3.0 I still feel like I know NOTHING and-don't know where to start.
Can anyone direct me to a good and through "getting started" place?
I see that a bunch of really cool things can be done with this software but I don't know how. I feel like I may just have to revert back to editing in iphoto...

One thing to do is get
this book.
Open PSE. In the upper left click on the folder icon with the magnifying glass on it.
That gives you your HD.
Navigate to a folder with photos, click on it.
Double click on an image and go nuts.
You can also set iPhoto to open an image in PSE, when double clicked.
Find that in iPhoto preferences.

  • New to mac where do i start

I just received my new macbook pro today and am totally new to mac (had pcs forever).  Any suggestions on where to start or helpful hints?

    download "cheatsheet" on app store.
its free and you can know all the shortcuts for each individual app.
just press command key (the one with apple logo on it) and the screen will show you a screen of all the shortcuts on that app.
    tip #1
dont edit folders and subfolders, learn how to manage your itunes, iphoto, aperture, documents inside the app.
    tip#2
    create an apple id
    https://appleid.apple.com/ca/
and go to your macbook pro Settings, icloud, and log in
iCloud will be your back up for your contacts, Mail, iCalendar, etc. Even Find my iPhone. and it will sync to all your apple devices seamlessly.
    tip#3
learn to back up with Time Machine.
    hope that helps.

  • New to Java, where do I start??!?!

Hello everyone, let me just introduce myself. My name is Jeff and I am from PA, I am a recent graduate of Penn State university with a bachelors of science in information science and technology, application/integration. My major dealt with alot of analysis/requirements/testing/planning/documentation, with a little bit of programming in such interfaces as HTML, CSS, ASP.Net, and I had one Java course which I could have done better in.
I started my career for a very large well known company in an entry level position. I went in with very little development skills, in the languages that we use here. Mostly everything is Java/Javascript, both of which I am pretty clueless about. They also do alot of web 2.0 stuff using ajax/xml/dojo. I just want to have some suggestions on how I could maybe learn this language a little better, I am not getting anything really so far, because ive just been doing e-learnings and such. I want to start shadowing the developers, but I dont want to go in seeming stupid! Who has some suggestions?

    Hi,
I haven't viewed all of your code and probably the other ten views so far haven't either. Look up MVC, model view controller pattern. You already have the model and a console view so far if I follow? if so then adapt your code to a swing GUI. Failing this ask a more theoretical question for now.

  • I am totally new to Photoshop, where can I go for a full in-depth course on how to wield?

I have just downloaded photoshop and lightroom via the creative cloud and wanted to know the best place to learn how to utilize in depth from scratch, any help would be most welcome!!

    lynda.com has a good reputation.
I am not quite sure about KelbyOne - A better way to learning Photoshop, Lightroom and Photography but maybe they are worth checking out.

  • Move photos from old PC running Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 starter edition, to new PC running Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.

    Hello,
My old PC (Windows XP) has 8500+ photos with loads of tags attached using Adobe Photoshop Album 2.0 starter edition.
I'm trying to move all photos, and tags, to my new PC (Windows 7) . I have installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 on my new PC.
All photos have been copied from the hard disk on the old PC to the hard disk on the new PC.
But how do I move the database/tag information between the old and new PC / between' Photoshop Album 2.0 starter edition' and 'Photoshop Elements 8'?
All help is highly appreciated, as I really don't want to add all this valuable tag information manually...

    function(){return A.apply(null,[this].concat($A(arguments)))}
All tags are correct, but PSE automatically reconnected only approx 5000 of the approx 8500 pictures (the picture directory has been changed)
See this FAQ for how to beat the Reconnect command into submission:

I have been too enthusiastic installing Yosemite. My Photoshop 5 doesn't start up anymore because 'of a fatal problem'. What to do. Please help me out

Two points: Java or not, Mac should (and did for me) make(s) it easy to download the Java. After the above message appeared to me, I discovered that Mac, Adobe or someone made it easy for me to do so, and I did. If you don't get guided to the download, Google or Java will enable you to find it. Whatever happens, try doing what I did, which solved the problem for me as mentioned above: find the original DVD for Photoshop (or the Suite) and, without canceling the already-installed version, re-install. I have the whole CS 5.5 Suite, but the installation disk enabled me to "install" just the Photoshop portion and confirmed the serial number. The re-installation is actually, in this situation, just a repair. There is a workaround if you don't have the original disk (a workaround which you would have to pursue on the Adobe site) and, if you registered the program with Adobe, you will be able to find your serial number online if necessary.
The riddle remains as to why Java supposedly has nothing to do with Photoshop, as you were told, whereas the message to download SE 6 that you reproduce in your query does appear (as it did for me).

  • I can't apply any of the 15 Matte PS Actions add-on filters to image. New to Photoshop. Help.

Just installed the 15 Matte PS Actions add-on to Photoshop. But can't work out how to apply the filers (all listed in the Actions Window) to the image I am working on.
Relatively new to Photoshop. Any help would be awesome.

What go you mean by "Matte Ps Actions"?  Is that just a typo for "Mat"?  Where did you obtain the actions?
Have you read the Photoshop Help files on playing back actions?

if you're having printing issues, indicate the exact make and model of your printer, paper size, image dimensions in pixels (so many pixels wide by so many pixels high). if going through a RIP, specify that too.

    I figured it out!
I read a solution for something that sounded similar.
    Anyone in similar position:
Open iTunes app on iPhone, and pick an option from bottom, such as music. Then scroll down to bottom of page and where your iTunes ID is, press on it, and pick sign out.
Then return to home screen, and double press home button and press and hold on first icon showing, until a minus symbol appears in the top left of icons present. Press on each minus symbol on each app in turn, until all app icons have disappeared. Then Restart the phone by pressing and hold the home button and the on/off/standby button at top of phone, until the apple symbol appears in centre of blank screen.
Swipe to turn phone fully on and open settings and scroll down to iTunes and apps option and tap that. Pick sign in and put in your apple ID, it will accept it and then return to home screen and open iTunes a you'll find it works fine
Simple really, but some like me won't think f this themselves!
    Hope that helps

  • Photoshop says "Rendering Type" and loads for a very long time, how do I fix this? I'm new to Photoshop and I was trying to learn how to make a watermark. This happens once I press the "Text" tool. I'm using a Mac with OS X. Please help, thank you.

Photoshop says "Rendering Type" under a "Progress" Bar that shows up. I'm trying to create a watermark and this happens when I press the "Text" tool. Please help, I'm new to Photoshop. Thank you.

So you created a document 192000 pixels wide, and 108000 tall, and  set the type to be 2 inches tall.  Yes, the type is going to take a few minutes to render in that document.
Yes, you created a document much bigger than you probably intended (you probably wanted 1920 PIXELS by 1080 PIXELS).
Pixels and inches are not the same, and you need to pay attention to the units.

  • NEW TO SAP  -  WHERE TO START

    Hi all
I am hoping you are able to advise. I am looking to change my career a little , from being a project manager to getting into SAP. However, as you all know its quite vast and varied. My background is Business Information Systems, so I know about development methodologies, programming, web applications etc. However, I dont consider myself to be very technical which is why I want to get into SAP to specialise in an area.
My issue is that I dont know where to really start. Im thinking a combination of business objects and netweaver as I have a keen interest in web based applications. Obviously, I want to get into a field which is highly required and somewhat recession proof.
What would you advise.Should I just start a general SAP course? and then develop on top of that or go straight into a specific component.
Any advise on this would be very helpful.
    Thanks
    Jay

    Hi,
After reading your posting I understood that right choice is Netweaver (BI) and concentrate on ESOA also.
Read home page on the sdn for latest information in SAP.
Please click [To Know SAP|http://help.sap.com/search/sap_trex.jsp] which gives any infomation about SAP.
