New to Report Server

I am working with Portals 3.0.9 (where report server resides). My question is .... Can I run a report from report server on my web browser? I have followed the configuration. I have set up Report server in my TNSNames.ora file. Or do I have to use Portals to do this? Can I use WEB DB?

Go to ORACLE_HOME/bin
Open AddNewServerterget.sh ---------for unix
and AddNewServerterget.bat ---------for windows
$./AddNewServertarget.sh <reportserver name>
$dcmctl updateconfig
$dcmctl resyncInstance
$opmnctl status

Can't create a new SQL Reporting Server

I am trying to create a new reporting server. I was able to create one earlier in the day but it was tied to the wrong subscription (not the one my databases were in).
So I tried to create another one attached to the right subscription and I am unable to I get the following error no matter what I put in for Username/password.
Error Code: InternalServerError; Error Message: Log on failed. Ensure the user name and password are correct. Tracing
ID is: f472bbc5-aa4b-4af8-b12e-72a7746db9f1. Machine name is SQL0ABAA615. ---> Microsoft.ReportingServices.Diagnostics.Utilities.LogonFailedException: Log on failed. Ensure the user nam
I removed the bad one and still get the same message. I have tried using the admin account, the account that was used to create the initial server my account (which is an admin account) and also just creating a new login/pwd combination nothing works.
Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Transfer reports from Crystal Enterprise 9 to Crystal Reports server 2008

Hello,
a decision was made to stand up our new Crystal Reports Server 2008 box and only load new reports to it that were created in Crystal Reports 2008, or ones that were modified in CR 2008.
Now I have all of my users set up and some reports loaded on the new server. There has been a new decision to now move a couple hundred reports off the old server onto the new and also have the same folder structure and schedules as exists on the old CR 9 server.
Is there an export/import tool that will allow for this?

i`m not quite sure if you can do this from CRE9 to CRS2008 with the Import Wizard. I think its only supported beginning with CE10.

Changing a SQL Report server Database to a new One Using Powershell script

I have an existing report server (Native Mode) and a pre-configured report server database. I have created a new database and want to assign it new report server database. How can i automate this process using powershell?
Here is the detail requirement
If there is a Report Server database seeded on the xxxxx server, follow the below steps:
◾Click the Database button on the left. Click on the Change Database button, choose option Choose an existing report server database. Enter the RPT server name (e.g. xxxxxx) in Server Name text box and click Next.
◾In the Report Server Database selection, select the ReportServer database. Then click next button to complete the process.
Any help in this regard will be very much helpfull.

How to add a new font into Report Builder and Oracle Forms/Reports Server?

I've searched the forum and can't find this being discussed.
My developers run Report Builder 10.1.2.0.2 on their XP laptops.
Their reports run (in production) on Oracle Forms/Reports Server 10.1.2.0.2.
This server runs on MS Windows 2003, SP2.
They've got a client who wants reports using the "Garamond Western" font.
So....how do I get this font onto the developer's Report Builder laptops, and onto the Oracle Forms/Reports Server?
I've moved various 'Garamond' fonts into C:\WINDOWS\FONTS on both the laptops and the server, but neither seem to recognize it.

This answers 1/2 of my question.
The developer can now use Report Builder on his laptop, with the new fonts.
But when he moves this new Report to the Oracle Application Server/Forms-Reports Server, it fails to use the new fonts.
The Oracle App Server/Forms-Report Server is Version 10.1.2.0.2. It runs on MS Windows 2003, SP2.
I have installed the exact same fonts on this server, into C:\WINDOWS\Fonts.
I have used REGEDIT to change REPORTS_PATH....and placed C:\WINDOWS\Fonts; as the first value in this field.
I have then stopped and restarted the Forms-Reports Server.

Error when creating a new Reports Server instance

I have tried to create and start a new reports server instance using the following method:
1- Creating the report server instance:
rwserver server=%newrepserver% start
2- Stopping the OPMN:
*%ORACLEHOME%\opmn\bin\opmnctl stopall*
3- Adding a new server target to OPMN.XML
*%ORACLEHOME%\bin\addNewServerTarget.bat %newrepserver%*
4- Updating the configuration with new OPMN settings:
*%ORACLEHOME%\dcm\bin\dcmctl.bat updateconfig -ct opmn -v -d*
*%ORACLEHOME%\dcm\bin\dcmctl.bat resyncinstance -v -d*
5- Starting the OPMN again:
*%ORACLEHOME%\opmn\bin\opmnctl startall*
However, when I try to start the OPMN again, I receive the following error:

On Windows this is caused most often by the temporary directory setting.
Change the temporary directory to some fixed directory writable by anybody, e.g. "C:\temp".
Change this in:
Registry entry: hkey_local_machine\software\oracle\key_<oashome>\REPORTS_TMP
<oashome>\opmn\conf\opmn.xml: search for environment variable TEMP (under ias-instance)

To prevent interruption of service, the new server must be able to be online at the same time as the old server (thus it must have a different name). I installed Crystal Reports Server XI and told it to create its CMS database by copying the existing CMS database. Unfortunately, I received an unspecified error ("failed to received first object from source database"). After that, I opted to create a new, default CMS database. I tried using the import wizard to migrate the reports to the new server. The import wizard managed to bring over all of the folders, users, and groups, but not any of the reports. When I looked at the migration log, it gave me an error stating that it could not find the parent folder. I have no real idea how to address this issue. On a related note, I also do not know how to point crystal at the reports repository on the new server. I tried using the Data Source Migration wizard to copy the reports from the old server to the new server. Unfortunately, it didn't appear to register any of the new reports. Given what I have already tried, I am not sure how to proceed.Any help would be appreciated.Thanks,David

Hi Mikael,
Since you're already on CR Server XI R2, you can use the Upgrade Management Tool to migrate all the content to CR Server 2013.
Anwers to your questions:
1) Yes, the Upgrade Management Tool does support this kind of migration
2) It does seem that the UMT allows you to move all report instances as well as the scheduled jobs over to the new server
3) I've always had issues with Business Views when using Import Wizard however I'm not sure whether they work well with the new UMT. In any case, I always prefer to export the LOVs and BVs from within the Business View Manager to a .xml file and then import them in the higher version of the Server, again, from within the Business View Manager.

New to Crystal Reports Server - Wondering if this is right product for me

Good Day! This is my first time at the forums and I hope this is the right place to post my query.
I have just recently downloaded the free trial software for Crystal Reports Server. I was directed to this software from a group of people on another forum.
Here is my situation:
I am currently an administrator for my companies various Service Level Agreement reports. I create the reports in Crystal Reports 9.0 and I connect using an ODBC driver to a DB2 database for a piece of software called HP OpenView ServiceCenter (Peregrine). The Peregrine software comes bundled with an older application called ReportCenter. In this software, I put all the .rpt files into one .ini file. ReportCenter then allows me to schedule the time and the date my various .rpt reports will run. For example, we have a daily report I schedule to run every night at 11:00 PM. At 11:00 PM, the software will then run the report and then export it to a file format of my choice (such as PDF or EXCEL).
I was told from another forum that the Crystal Reports Server should allow me to perform the same functionality. Does anyone use the software in this manner?

In addition to Srinivas' excellent replies, it is also noteworthy that the cr server product line also has several SDK's for developing your own customized applications. Quite a few custtomers have impllemented their own customized pages to schedule, view and export reports as well as for administration of the server(s) itself.
I would like to suggest that you look more into a newer version of the product such as CR Server XIR2 or CR Server 2008.

Problem e-mailing reports after migrating to new Microsoft Exchange server

I am now unable to e-mail (SMTP) reports to anyone in my company because we just migrated to a new Microsoft Exchange server. Anyone know how to get rid of this message?
Status: Failed
Printer: The instance is not printed.
External Destination: Mail the instance to "____________" with a subject of " %SI_NAME% %SI_STARTTIME% ".
Data Refresh Settings: Use the server defaults.
Start Time: 8/4/09 1:00:18 PM
End Time: 8/4/09 1:01:07 PM
Server Used: gmmc-crs.reportjobserver
Error Message: server error. SMTP_E_TCPSOCKET_OPEN(2): CrystalEnterprise.Smtp
We tried changing the gmmc-crs.reportjobserver with no luck.

Hi,
You need to start with your exchange logs and possibly enable tracing on your BO webi/crystal/destination job servers (depending on the type of report and whether or not it is scheduled) to get an idea of how far down the line the SMTP connection is getting.
You could also confirm a few key things:
Have the SMTP destinations on your BO servers been updated with the new SMTP server info
Can you telnet to the mail server on port 25 from the BO server - if not, then check the firewall between the two servers and change the existing ruleset to allow connectivity to the new server
Possibly the old mail server didn't require authentication and the new server does, you could test this through telnet?
