New to SAP BI - Pls suggest a plan

Hi friends,
After 5 yrs of work in an MNC, I wanted a breakthrough for I didn't have any opportunities for my current skillsets which are premium tools and not many use them. Hence started learning SAP BI as I really wanted to change my stream and found this interesting. I chose this not only just because my friends are working but also somehow I wanted to do this.
Anyways am currently learning extractions. My main questions:
1. Is it mandatory to learn ABAP? Never really liked coding. Also why is it that the interviewers demand BO or ABAP in addition to BI? Am ready to learn BO as well if needed but is it good for my career?
2. I want to go as a business analyst in the long run in the SAP field. Please tell me how can i achieve it? Also which module is the best for me to proceed further once am confident in doing technical side?
3. I am going technical now only because want a break and once I have enough exp, i want to plan in a right way.
Also, is there any specific path for the same? like order wise - SAP BI, BO, etc.,
Pls suggest accordingly

Not mandatory to learn complete ABAP coding, but you definitely need basic ABAP coding knowledge, since every now and then you have to write a routine in BI with ABAP code. So yes, basic ABAP is required. Interviewers ask for BO or ABAP along with BI because the competition is tough and knowledge in these areas would set you apart from the competition. Also, as I said earlier a little bit of ABAP knowledge is required. BO, being a more robust way of doing BI, its always good-to-have in your skillset.
2. I want to go as a business analyst in the long run in the SAP field. Please tell me how can i achieve it? Also which module is the best for me to proceed further once am confident in doing technical side?
I guess, Business Process Xpert is the way to go for that.
3. I am going technical now only because want a break and once I have enough exp, i want to plan in a right way.

If and only if you have experience on this version BI 7.0 then go for it, Becaue the look and feel of the BI 7.0 is different from the BW 3.x. There are lot of changes in the BI 7.0.

Hello all , perhaps I'm posting the thread into the correct thread category , I'm really new in SAP and currently starting to put my interest into SAP . I'm currently doing IT Support (Unix Support). Previously I have no ideas about SAP and from my knowledge , jumping into sap is too costly until I found about getting to SAP academy through E-Learning which cost half of the actual normal classroom method of getting SAP certification . And obviously it pulled my interest . A few opinion and advices I would like to gather :
1) Do you think that it worth for me to spend money for SAP certification ?
2) What is the career prospect of an SAP certified ?
3) What is normally the routine of the SAP consultant ? in term of the job dsecription .. I don have any ideas what is the scope of a SAP consultant .
4) Is the SAP job marketable ? internationally ?
5) What is the possibly of getting job for a newly certified SAP w/out experience
6) Which is the best module that I should enroll for the certification ?
7) What is normally market price for the SAP certified salary .

1) Your academic qualifications
2) Your professionsal experience
3) Your interest

Depends on your experience and as you are from IT market it varies a lot depending on your experience and the requirement of the company

Hi,
to 1 & 2: SAP is the best in the IT market for companies. It is a good idea to work with it, since the IT branch was not affected by with world crisis in 2009 and 2009; additionally, withing the IT, SAP consultants are the best paid.
to 3: you should start programming with ABAP considering that you´re technichal. It´ll be a good start for a newbie.
to 4: difficult to know. Some are not very used; therefore there are not many consultants.
to 5: like 3
to 6: traning yes, certification no. Read my answer to a similar [post here|;.
to 7: you´ll be a newbie and your experience will play a minimal role, if any. You´ll start a new life, professionally speaking, so companies will consider you in the first step as a trainee.

Cycle Counting - New on SAP

We are new on sap. So most of our materials have never been counted. I have run mibc(ABC analysis), then I ran micn by material group to generate a cycle count. One of my 'A' materials is missing. It's in stock and we've never counted it before. Shouldn't everything that hasn't been counted come up on my cycle count? If I extend my cycle count date out, it comes up, but it's not due until 6/1/2009 to be counted.
Any help would be appreciated.

1. What was the planned count date range that did not show the one A material and the range that did?
I originally ran the count for 5/6/2009 - the A item was not included
When I extended my date range to 5/6/2009 to 8/30/2009, the item was included, however it wasn't due to count until 6/1/2009, and it was being placed on a physical inventory count sheet for that future date.
2. What other checks and values are you using in MICN?

I did find also that the consultant that configured our cycle counts made an error. The A items are set to count 2 times a year. But would that make a difference? I thought everything that wasn't counted and was in stock for that material group would show up.

Dear,
MD43 provide you with interactive planning.
if you use long term planning and you want to import the
result of long term planning to productive planning, you can import long term planning result from MD43.
In the second screen of MD43 (almost same as MD04), go to menu and select edit
=>Copy simulative LT planned order.
MD03 does not have interactive mode. So once you kick the MRP from MD03,
MRP is triggered and save the MRP result automatically.

You have BI and BO installed and running on good environment,Correct??
Only you need SAP Integration Kit installed.
After installing successfully.
Create master BEx query. Go to Properties -->> Extended tab -- Allow external access to OLAP (Incase of BW3.x)
Create master BEx query. Go to Properties -->> Advanced tab -- Allow external access OLAP (BI7.0)
Now go to Universe Designer:
-->> Name Universe and Click on Connection -- New
-->> Connection parameter dailog box -- It prompt for many options like:
Authentication Mode:User/Pass or BO mappings or SSO
User Name:
Password:
Language:EN
Application Server: <SAP BI system details--IP address>
System ID:<SAP BI ID>
System No:<SAP BI NO>
Logon Group:(greyed out)
Message Server:(greyed out)
-- Click on Next
-- Here, you can see all OLAP cubes ($Infocubes) and Folders for BEx query based/Multiproviders.
-- Select the required one.
-- Click Next -- Next -- FINISH
OK
Now you can see lict of *Classes and Objects* and not Universe structure as we are on SAP BI system.
(In Universe Designer window)
Go to -- File -->> Export -- (Select any folder, where you have access)
Now, *logon to Infoview*:
-- Document list
-- New-->> New Web Intelligence Document
It will list out all Universe those are exist in repository.
Choose the exported one.
Now you are in *Web Intelligence Report panel*.
-- Drag any objects like Dimension/Detail or Measure to Result Objects pane (to see them in Report)
or
Drag them to Query Filters section to restrict the data.
--Click on Run Query
-- Now Report you can see.
If you want to create Report 2:
Just Right click on Report1 and say Duplicate or New Report.

Now where to implement this coding part and how to do.

hi all i am new to cisco wireless and also to wireless. i am looking for 2 acces-point which can function as bridges also in workgroup. plus i am ubying a wireless controller for pushing qos,vlans,rf band management,security,802.1x, wep and ids features on to the accesspoints. i am basically requiring this for lab purposes only and not for production.

If you need AP's that can function as a bridge, and be associated to a controlle, you should go with the 1030. It can run as a bridge, to another 1030, or it can be a regular access point.

Since you state you have some (5 yrs is not "some, it`s cool actually) experience with BI/ BO, you should know something about the data you were processing. So if you were processing HR data, then it makes sense to go for HR. Same with any other module. I have no idea what was your job, who is your employer or is your customer, what data sources you have used so far. Based on that information your information should be almost clear.

Hi...i think we have retractor programs similiar to BPS.
STS will not work with IP. You need to use BPS for this.
