New to SAP Netweaver...Please guide....

Hi all
I have recently joined this network.
So, not sure wether this is right place to post such a question.
I am a fresher in IT field. My level of knowledge is limited to core java and JSP, servlets.
Now I am a member of project team which is working on SAP Netweaver. By now, I have just been able to understand that this has to do something with java. To be more specific I have to work on SAP netweaver Developer studio.....
I wish to pave a good foundation basic knowledge on this entire technology.
I just seek guidance on how to approach for this field.
I am having very basic knowledge about SAP that it is an ERP and have various integrated functional modules. But nothin more than that.
So, do i need to learn SAP before moving towards Netweaver. If so, then to what extent should I learn SAP and how.
I came to know about a book SAP Netweaver for dummies. As its name suggest , i thought it would be better option to start. But not sure.
Please guide me.
Thanx.

Hi Saurabh,
SAP NetWeaver provides an open integration and application platform and permits the integration of the Enterprise Services Architecture. You can unify business processes across technological boundaries, integrate applications for your employees as needed, and access and edit simple information easily and in a structured manner.
It has many features and components. go thru the following link it would be helpful.
http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/start.htm
It helps you to decide the area which you want to choose.
hope this helps
reward points if helpful.

  • Need to add new column in SAP Query - Please guide me in this regard

    Dear All,
In SAP Query, I need to put a new coulmn of each record for the difference of Billing date and PGI date as a work days.
    eg: Billing Date = 02.05.2008
         PGI Date = 08.05.2008
Take a Variable i.e. Days = Billing Date - PGI Date that will display as 5 days by excluding Saturday and Sunday.
After doing calculation of these work days for each record, we need a to add a new coulmn in that record as field lable as "Work Days" and display.
Please Guide me in this regard
    Regards,
    Sateesh.

    Hi Rama,
In SQ01 when you are in the fields (first would be attributes, when you click next it takes you to field groups, and again when you click next if takes you to fields tab) check the following menu path
EDIT -> LOCAL FIELD -> CREATE
You can define the formula as per your requirement and populate the field.
    Hope this is helpful.
    Thanks,

  • New User - SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - ABAP Trial Version

Our company as developed software link from our application to the SAP Plant Maintenance (PM) module.
To simply the discussion, please assume that the link only creates a PM Notification.  Currently this is done via RFC to IQS4_CREATE_NOTIFICATION.
One of our biggest challenges in developing the link for our Oil Refinery customers is the fact that we do not run SAP in our development office.  This makes it very difficult to maintain the link because we need to rely on our customer’s systems to test any changes we make.
In the past, we have made several attempts to purchase a developer license to SAP but could not determine the correct sales avenue.  We ended up talking to sales people who told us that we needed to spend $50,000.
Recently, I have installed SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - ABAP Trial Version.  I have it running and can log into the SAP GUI and I can make remote function calls to the Airport demo that is installed with it.  This environment appears to have everything that I need to develop our link but I can not figure out how to install the PM module.  I am not sure if this is even possible.
    So here are my questions:
    1) Can the PM module be activated/installed in the SAP NetWeaver 7.0 - ABAP Trial Version?
    2) Would this be included if we purchase the SAP NetWeaver, Development Subscription for $2,300/year.

    1. No
    2. yes it has everything

  • SAP Certification - Please guide

    Dear SAP Gurus,
I have an exp of 9 years in HR, End user (SAP) as 4 years and I have gained (To some extent) techno-functional skills through exp. Is there any way towards progression in SAP as functional and Technical.
I intend to shift towards Full time Tehcno-Functional SAP consultant. Is it a right time ? Also would like to know that, I am a commerce graduate and intend to do ABAP. What exactly needed to do an ABAP course. Where I can do the course (less course fee) in hyderabad.
How much impact it will make if i do both Functional and ABAP with quality intervals.
    Kindly advice.
    Regards
    Arun

    Hi Arun,
The HR experience that you are talking about will help you to understand client's business process and his requirements easily.
The end user experience that you are talkin will help in understanding what is SAP and how SAP works.
But for being a techno-functional consultant, you need to understand how SAP works in the backend.
I mean about the database tables, views, ABAP syntax, logic etc. etc.
And for being a confident functional consultant you should understand what is there in Standard SAP? How a requirement can be achieved or how standard SAP can be customized to meet client's requirement?
    Regards,
    Raj

I'm in saudi arabia & want to buy a iphone. Please suggest me from where i can buy a iphone without any fear of duplicate piece? please help

ditto what diesel said...we got a lot of forum posts from people that buy one from another source..such as an Internet marketplace and end up getting a device that has been stolen.  Get one from Apple or an official reseller  and don't take a chance..it isn't worth it.

  • SAP Netweaver 7.0 installation - serious issue (startsap db n4sadm)

    Hi,
We are trying to setup SAP Netweaver 7.0 (Test Drive x-86 edition) on Fedora 12. We have successfully ran the "install.sh" file. The DB2 instance gets installed and we are able to start it as 'db2n4s' user using the 'db2start' command (we could as well stop using db2stop).
But, we are facing issues when we start the db2 instance as prescribed by the SAP Netweaver installation guide for the following command.
