  • Support for the creation of a new BEA WebLogic Application Server v10.3

    To All,
After downloading and installing the Enterprise Pack for Eclipse (Ganymede: http://download.oracle.com/otn_software/oepe/ganymede) I attempted to create a new BEA WebLogic 10.3 server - since that is the version of the application server that I have installed on my machine.
I went to create the new server and selected "BEA WebLogic Server v10.0", since there was no option to select a WebLogic 10.3 server. I selected as the WebLogic Home directory "D:\BEA_HOME\wlserver_10.3" and received the error message: "The path "D:\BEA_HOME\wlserver_10.3" contains the wrong version of WebLogic Server. Expected version 10.0. Found version 10.3."
Is there some way that I can create a new WLS v10.3 in Eclipse Ganymede? Do I need to download an additional plugin?
Thanks in advance for your help on this,
    John Livingstone

Look for WLS 10.3 under Oracle rather than BEA group.

  • New to Weblogic Security

I have an ORACLE database which contains a table of 100s of users and passwords with their group information. I developed a Webapplication (in Tomcat) in which one of the servlets works as authenticator for the user logging in by fetching row from the datbase and validating him.(This is a simple authentication)
Now I have switched to Weblogic platform 8.1 SP2 and am completely new to Weblogic Security. I want to use Weblogic security features for my application and the users & groups should be retrieved from the database for authentication.
How can I do this ? Any clear-cut steps ?
Where can I find them in documentation ?
    Please help me...Urgent !!

    I found it in
Weblogic Administration Console Home -> Summary of  Security Realms->myrealm->Providers.
Click on new Authentication provider button-> you will see 'TrustServiceIdentityAsserter' as one of the types.

  • New to Weblogic 7 - How do I verify digital certificates?

Hello, I am new to Weblogic and my department has 2 servers running Weblogic 7 and they have asked me to verify whether the servers have both root and intermediate digital certificates installed. How do I check for this?

Backup the library with this User Tip. (Also any other personal data)
Deauthorize the old computer before it goes away.
Restore the backup to your new computer using the same tool used to back it up.
Keep your backup up-to-date in future.

I've removed your email address from the post because a) you are likely to get lots of spam in your email by publishing it in public and b) responses to issues should be posted on the forum, as this is not a personal support service where people should be contacting you directly.
Also please note that this is a forum of volunteers doing their own jobs, and leading their own lives, so to request help "ASAP" or "Urgently" etc. is not appropriate and considered very rude by many people.  Such urgent issues suggest a live system that has got problems and a company is losing money or people's lives are at risk, in which case the issue should be raise via My Oracle Support (MOS) which is the paid-for support channel for Oracle.
The description of your issue, wanting to know more about a product before your training, is not an urgent issue. (Surely the point of the training is to learn it?)

  • Really new to Weblogic - trying to install WAR

    Hi,
I am really new to Weblogic, and I am trying to get a web application
that I've been given to work with Weblogic 8.1 on Windows 2000 Server.
I just installed Weblogic 8.1 today, then I've configured a Weblogic
configuration. I then copied the WAR file to the
    C:\bea\user_projects\domains\mydomain\applications directory, and then
    executed c:\bea\user_projects\domains\mydomain\startWebLogic.cmd.
This causes a command window to open, with the output of the Weblogic
startup, and I'm getting some "Warning" messages about the Weblogic.xml
    being malformed:

Also, can anyone tell me what the problem with that XML file might be?
    Thanks,

    Hi,
For the record, I was just able to get this working by doing the
    following:
    1) Create a directory called "DefaultWebApp" under the "applications"
    directory
    2) Copy the WAR file to the DefaltWebApp directory
    3) Unzip the WAR file in-place
    4) After I unzipped the WAR file, I was able to fix the weblogic.xml
    file in the WEB-INF directory
    5) Once I did all that, WebLogic seems to be happy (no warnings).

  • New to weblogic - cannot get examples working

I am new to weblogic; working under RH Linux Fedora 2.
I tried to follow the examples.html instructions to create a new sideline copy of the source. The instructions do not match the layout of the samples/ directories. The instructions for config.xml say to leave 3 <Application>s in place and remove the rest; there are only 2 of the 3 in the original config.xml. When I try to start the examples using the startExamplesServer.sh (edited per the directions), the startup hangs at the <Notice>...starting weblogic admin server .... message.
Can anyone recommend how to get a foothold in this process? I have spent almost a week trying to get anything working, including trying to create a new server within the examples domain (so I can try things without disturbing the original source). I created a server in the console (on port 7701 rather than 7001, to allow others to run the 7001 server), and that failed with an error. (I found two posts regarding the error - but no replies to either).
Thanks for any direction in helping me make some progress!

I am guessing that your config.xml is not quite right. You can either send it to me or post it here and I will review it.
Another suggestion is to install WebLogic Server in a different bea home...and play with the examples right out of the box so that you don't have to fiddle around the scripts at this point.
The samples paths you see in examples.html are for windows. Maybe that's why they don't match up with your Linux directories verbatum.

  • New Mobile Weblogs

    Dear friends,
This thread is dedicated to publishing new weblogs. <b>Do not append any comments onto this thread. Only if you have written a weblog related to the topic discussed in this forum, you can append a small description with the link here.</b>
You can also use the "Watch this Topic" option at the start of the thread to get emails whenever a new weblog link is posted here (Click "Watch Options", check "Email Updates", and "Update Watches". This ensures that whenever a new append is made to this thread, SDN will send an email to all watchers) This is a very effective and easy way to track new interesting weblogs.
GENTLE REMINDER: Do NOT append anything else on this thread, as any new append will trigger a flood of emails to all the people on the watch list.
    Thanks and Regards,
    Santo.

  • What's new in Weblogic 8.1 using MQ

We will use MQseries 5.3 as are Queuing-system and Weblogic Server 8.1
              as our appication server.
We don't have to use transactions in our messages.
              I've the following questions.
In weblogic documentation Using Foreign JMS Providers with Weblogic
Server from May 2002 is written For Weblogic 7.
What are the differences with 8 and is there a document written for
              version 8.
Must we still write a startup class?
I'll hope someone can give more info about the new features of
WebLogic 8 for using Foreign JMS Providers and the differences with
              Weblogic Server 7.
              greetings,
              Andre Torensma
              Developer
              Friesland Bank

The document is still valid. That is, you can do what the document says and
they'll still work. However, there are a few new features:
-- "Foreign JMS Server" pages in the console (and config MBeans) let you set
up JNDI "symbolic links" between objects in the WLS JNDI name space and your
own JNDI provider, like the one you use for MQ. This may make it easier to
set up MQ in many cases.
-- The EJB "resource-reference" feature, which you use to bind a JMS
ConnectionFactory into an EJB or servlet's private JNDI tree, wraps the JMS
objects so that it can provide automatic transaction enlistment and pooling.
This means it's a lot easier to send an MQ message from inside an EJB or
servlet. There's a section on "Using JMS with EJBs and Servlets" in the JMS
programming guide that explains how to use this.
-- The startup class that people used in the past was one possible way to
create an MQ connection factory and use it inside WLS. In 7.0, you had the
option of setting up a JNDI provider (like the "filesystem" provider) and
storing your MQ JMS objects in there using the IBM "jmsadmin" tool. The
white paper describes this. You can still do this in 8.1. The difference is
that once you do that, you can use the "Foreign JMS Provider" support so
that you don't have to copy the information about that JNDI provider into
every EJB and MDB that needs to talk to MQ.

This thread is dedicated to publishing new weblogs. Do not append any comments onto this thread! Only if you have written a weblog, then append a small description with the link here.
For everyone else that are interested, press the <b>"Watch this Topic"</b> option at the start of the thread. Next click <b>"Watch Options",</b> check "Email Updates", and "Update Watches". • New iWeb Weblog - Where is Save As option?

    Hi.
I am using iWeb for the first time. It is version 3.0.2 (489).
I used *New Page* (and *New Site* too when trying to figure this out) under the File menu and then selected a template as prompted. After making my changes to the template to what I wanted I tried to save my proto webpage without success.
The only option I got when quitting was the 'Save' option and not *Save As* as I anticipated.
Using the only available option Save option all I get is the following error message "+*The document Domain.sites2 could not be saved*+"
    http://dl.dropbox.com/u/11373233/iWeb%20Save%20Prob.png
The upshot is that I can't save even the bare bones of my new webpage, let alone go on to do anything else.
    What am I doing wrong?

    Old Toad wrote:
All changes are made to that Domain.sites2 file. So if you want to make different versions you will have to duplicate that domain file each time.
OR you can create a new site in iWeb, duplicate the pages you want to preserve in their current state and drag the copy down to the new site to store. Then rename the copies pages with some sort of identifies as to date or whatever.
However, there are a couple of page types that can't be duplicated: iPhoto Albums and Blog pages.
It seems that I am going to have to find a way to bookmark this page somehow.
I'm just starting out in this particular area of Mac computing so I only have an idea of what you are referring to. I have no doubt that I will know precisely what you mean when I have used the software more and (maybe) have gain more experience with it.
When you say '....duplicate the domain file each time', do you mean copy it to somewhere; make a new site; copy that to somewwhere else; move the original back if I want to work on that; and/or move the second one back to work on the second (or subsequent) site? I think I must have misread your reply.
Thank you so much for telling me this.

  • Application deployment problems new in WebLogic 9.1

I have an Enterprise Application that contains several EJBs, a WAR and a RAR. On WebLogic 9.0 this deployed just fine. On WebLogic 9.1 the <i>Install Application Assistant</i> reports in the Messages box:
    <p>
<b>Unable to access the selected application.</b><br>
    <b>No name parameter specified</b>
    <p>
This problem occurs whether I try to install from an EAR or from an exploded archive directory.
    <p>
Strangely enough, if I copy the EAR into the $DOMAIN_HOME/autodeploy directory the application gets deployed successfully with no errors.
    <p>
I've found that if edit the META-INF/application.xml descriptor and remove all references to the WAR then the EAR can be deployed.
    <p>
    Has anyone else seen this?

    I'm have the same problem...
And strangely enough, the app deploys okay using "wldeploy" Ant task. After that I can update the application throught the console.
I generated an Ear with a test EJB using ejbgen and everything deployed okay. I also ensured that all my deployment descriptors were up to scratch.
I also cannot find any reference to the message in the log file or anything on the e-docs site...
    Pretty frustrating.

  • New  bee weblogic classloader

I read some articles on weblogic classloading. This is what is my understanding any jar files needed by both ejb and war shoud be placed in the root of an ear file ,suppose i need log4j for both ejb and war i place it inside ear and add amanifest entry in ejb , and war can also see log4j becaue the war parent class-loader is ejb classloader. Now suppose I need struts jar for my war , Should I just place in web-inf/lib and no entry in war manifest ? is this right?
I am facing lot of troubles with my war classloader, any utility class I call in war I get get class not found exception, what stops war classloader not to see classes inside jar inside web-inf/lib ?

Isn't the documentation link I responded with pretty clear? APP-INF is a directory directly in the root of the EAR and you can create it yourself.
    Class Loading for Shared Classes+
The classes and libraries stored under APP-INF/classes and APP-INF/lib are available to all modules in the Enterprise Application. The application classloader always attempts to resolve class requests by first looking in APP-INF/classes, then APP-INF/lib.
If you want to isolate jars and classes to a particular Web module, then you can put them in the Web module's WEB-INF/lib or use the manifest mechanism that you referenced. I find the manifest mechanism to be brittle in comparison, but it is standard and portable. Putting jars that I want in APP-INF/lib for universal access and WEB-INF/lib for web module isolated access is easier in my opinion because the location of the jar file denotes your intention.

I can't see the choice for weblogic server 9.x in the Target runtime field.
Even I download the additional server adapters, the oldest version is Oracle WebLogic Server 10gR3 (newer than 9.x).
So, how can I create a weblogic server9.x web server project on eclipse ?
    Thanks,
    James Tung

    James,
Which version of Eclipse are you using? Do you have Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse installed? Which version?
According to the docs, OEPE 11.1.1.6 (the latest of this post) supports WLS back to version 9.2.
    http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E15315_05/help/oracle.eclipse.tools.common.doc/html/index.html
Make sure that you have a WLS 9.2 Server Runtime defined.
    Window->Prefereces->Server->Runtime Environments
Add a BEA System, Inc WLS 9.2 server runtime and make sure it is pointing to the right place on your file system and try creating your Web Service project again.
If you still have issues, try the OEPE forum.

  • Question about creating new tables using SQL script in WebLogic Server

    Hi,
I am new to WebLogic and I am following a book Java EE Development with Eclipse published by PACKT Publishing to learn
Java EE.  I have installed Oracle Enterprise Pack for Eclipse on the PC and I am able to log into the WebLogic Server Administration Console
and set up a Data Source.  However the next step is to create tables for the database.  The book says that the tables can be created using
SQL script run from the SQL command line.
I cannot see any way of inputting SQL script into the WebLogic Server Admistration Console.  Aslo there is no SQL Command line in DOS.
    Thanks  for your help.
    Brian.

Sounds like you are to run the scripts provided by a tutorial to create the tables, right?  In that case, you may need to install an Oracle client to connect to your database.  The client is automatically installed with the database, so if you have access to the server that hosts the database, you should be able to run SQLplus from there.
As far as I know, there is no way to run a script from the Admin Console.  I could be wrong, however.
