New today OCS 10g Release 1 (10.1.2)

This new released today (10.1.2), called Release 1 (the "old" Release 1 was 10.1.1.0.2) is what we are expecting as OCS 10g Release 2 ??? Can we use this to upgrade OCS 9.0.4.2 release ??

Nov has come. Does any one has any news on OWB 10g Release 2 availability?

Just to start with the Experts capabilities, they can be used for designing schema objects.......I tried with an expert for sampling the source files, creating External Tables on top of it....validating and deploying..........itz very interesting to work with.........I am unable to see the practical use of this for end users.....
where as we all know, the PF can only be for executing the deployed objects.....

Error in download link - OCS 10g Release 1 (10.1.2)

I'm part of APAC OCS Support team - Oracle. I'm contacting you regarding a issue reported by a customer that he is not to download a particular file form OTN.
Issue:
I have downloaded all of the files except for OCS_101200ad.bin. I cannot
download this file as right click " save target as " it brings a text document download, rather than starting to download the binary.

Tried on different version, different browser still the same,

Can anyone tell me if this will support IIS fully? It is a royal pain in the butt to have to run and maintain IIS and apache (or oracle HTTP) on my servers..

Looking for New Features in OCS 10g

I see they have updated the OTN OCS page to show that they are coming out with a 10g version. I can not find anywhere a list of new and improved features. A comparison chart of old, new and improved feature would be helpful.

Partially right, partially wrong. OCS 10g was originally version 9.0.4. There was a re-release of 10g (post-OracleWorld) which is version 9.0.4.1. It includes several bug fixes and some other things. As mentioned by others, check out the Release Notes for specifics.

I figure out you are trying to install 10gR2 on top of an existing 9iR2 Oracle Home. This is corrected at the Path definition window. Most probably you just click on the <Next> and by default the 9iR2 Oracle Home was selected. You must define a new oracle home for the 10gR2 install.

Metalink rang me earlier this week for some TAR, and they were hoping to see OWB10gR2 released this year... this implies that we have to count ourselves lucky if that means december. At the moment they're working hard to get a stable product out, guess there are more serious bugs to solve than they had anticipated on previously.

Can not create new database on Oracle 10G release 2 (10.2.0.3) under Linux

I have a server with SO Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4
Oracle Oracle 10G release 2 (10.2.0.1)
After instaling the patch (10.2.0.3) to the data base it doesn´t allow me to create a new data base when the dbca is going to generate the service it disconects it self from oracle and marks
an error that its not conected to oracle.

New ALS Demo Application (release 9.0.5.x)

AMIS just released the ALS (AMIS Library System) application based on BC4J and JSP with JSTL for JDeveloper 10g and JHeadstart 9.0.5.x.
The ALS application is shipped with JHeadstart 9.0.5.x, to demonstrate the use of Toplink with JHeadstart. The application is also useful for people using BC4J (with JSP), hence this new release today.
The ALS application is used by AMIS to describe recipes in the JHeadstart Cookbook, to base workshops on and to demonstrate the JHeadstart Application Generator Extensions, that we intend to release in November 2004. This release also shows you how to use JSTL in JHeadstart generated applications.

Using Imp utility to Import a database on 10g release 2

I am using the Imp Utility on 10g release 2 to import from a 10g release 1 database. I have created a new tablesapce and need the dmp to be imported to the new tablespace. But it goes and imports to the system tablespace. The command i use is
imp <User name>/<password> file=<file_name> log =<log name> full=Yes
the user name and password i use is the username and password i gave in the installation for system tables. When i specify the tablespace imp <User name>/<password>@<tablespace> it comes with "ORACLE error 12154 encountered".
Do i need to create a new user to get the import done. How do i create it?

The contents of the dump will be imported to the tablespace under which you run the import.
If your dump from Oracle 10G R1 is a complete database dump and you need to import the data of a specific user in the dump, then you can use fromuser= touser= options in the import command.
If your Oracle 10GR2 database is blank, then you need to create the user in which you can import the data. You can use a command like this.
CREATE USER sidney
IDENTIFIED BY out_standing1
DEFAULT TABLESPACE example
QUOTA 10M ON example
TEMPORARY TABLESPACE temp;
Note: sidnye, out_standing1, example, temp are all arbitrary names. You need to match these with your environment.
