New Toshiba HDTV with DVD

I recently pruchaed a new Toshiba HDTV with built in DVD. When I hooked it up to my Verizon Cable connection my cable remote will not control ON/OFF or VOLUME. I have to turn the tv on with the Toshiba remote and also use it to control the volume. How can I get my Verizon Cable Remote to control ON/OFF and Volume? Thanks  mdc/

You are using an external tuner (cable box) that is why volume adjustment using the cable's remote will not be applicable. Volume is part of the TV's settings. To control the TV's settings (Like the volume) you need to program the cable box remote (If applicable).

What is the size of your hard disk?  PSE 4 is a very old program and I suspect it is not able to access the entire hard disk on your machine.  Just a thought here.

  • Why does new PSE 8 and 9 both crash on my new Toshiba laptop with Windows 7?

I bought new PSE Elements 8 and 9 and both crashed immediately on my new Toshiba Satellite P 755 laptop with Windows 7 64 bit OS. I tried going into Properties of PSE 9 and going to Compatability and putting in Windows 7 but it didn't do any good. Please help!

    Hi,
Please try couple of probable solutions as mentioned below:
    Solution 1:
    1. Close Elements.
    2. Launch the Photoshop Elements Welcome Screen and hold down ctrl + alt + shift as you click Editor.
    3. Continue to hold the keys until you see a message box asking if you want to delete Photoshop Elements settings file; click Yes. Elements will open with default preferences.
Solution 2: In case any network printer is attached try to launch without network or printer uninstall or make different printer as default.
Solution 3: Try launching with anti-virus off or removing PSE from conflicting list.
    Solution 4:
On the drive on which you have installed PSE,on my machine it is on C:
Go  to C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop Elements  10\Locales\<locale>\Plug-Ins\Import-Exportand you will find twain  plug-in. Remove that plug-in from that location and copy it somewhere  else.
Now launch PSE and check if it works.

  • Is there a possible new PC incompatability with DVDs?

    Hello all,
Our clients are starting to bring us DVDs that have QuickTimes that have been burned on PCs running video editing software(Avid I believe). The DVDs are data formatted rather than "movie type". Our problem is that on every single one of our Macs, the DVD just doesn't show up. We have G5s and iBooks and iMacs, about 12 machines all told, and not one of them will read these DVDs. One of those G5s even has a brand new LG external USB optical drive that's supposed to be able to read/write anything. However, the DVDs show up just fine in one of the older PCs we have here. Can this possibly be some weird Vista thing? I've read in some other posts about QT 7.3 messing up the ability of the drives to read. Is it that maybe?
    Thanks, Ninja Bob.

Well, after talking with the tech from the video house, I figured out that the format he was using to burn the DVD was incompatible with Macs. I'm pretty sure he was using Roxio's Easy Media Creator, and he was using the latest Joliet setting. One setting that worked was the Joliet/UDF. There ws another setting called ISO 2, but I didn't get to try it.
    I hope this helps others.
    Ciao, NB

  • New Toshiba SSD with 10.7.2

I have just bought a new 512Gb Apple (Toshiba) SSD from ebay to install into my MacBook running 10.7.2. Does anyone know how to turn TRIM on for this drive? All I can find are guides on how to enable TRIM for SSDs that are NOT Apple approved.
    Thanks in advance,
    Sam

Lion only supports TRIM for devices with certain names that match Apple's approved devices. Unless it's an Apple Device ID it won't turn TRIM on for you.
You can turn it on however using the hacks - I think you've found those though? I use the hack on my 2010 11" Air, 2011 MBP, 2011 iMac, and 2009 Mac Mini...and it works absolutely fine on all of them.
This is the method I used to turn TRIM on.

  • New Toshiba Laptop with Windows 8 mouse disappears

I received a Toshiba Satellite Laptop for Christmas and it is running Windows 8. I started using it and it worked fine, but I started using Internet Explorer and the mouse froze, but I could still use my keyboard to get back to the start-page and move around with the up/down/left/right keys. My mouse was no where to be found on the start-page. I used the ctrl-alt-delete to log out, and then when the log-in screen came up my mouse reappeared and seemed to be working again. I logged back in and my mouse worked for a few seconds, then disappeared. I did the same things over and over again a few times, and either the mouse was nowhere to be found from the get-go, or it worked for a bit then disappeared once I started doing things. I shut down, and restarted multiple times. Any fix for this problem? If it is a Windows 8 problem I am very disappointing at the moment with the software  Thank you, and happy holidays.

This may be the one i sold - but what we found was that the F5 key brought the mouse back .  I am not sure how it happened in the first place.  But F5 is "refresh" .  this is a POOR choice for a function key that disables the mouse, since now to get the FUNCTION for f5, you need to press fn and F5 .  If you hit just f5 like we used to, it will disable the mouse ... hmmmmmm.  nooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo

  • Re: New Toshiba Laptop with Windows 8 stolen

good day! my laptop was stolen yerterday, there is way to track or trace my laptop?

Yup... File a police report and check if you have a serial number for the NB.. they will be asking for that if you have called toshiba dept before for technical issues it will be helpful they could get you the serial number for the NB using your name and phone number...
Now for tracking the laptop actually thats a different issue, if you dont have installed softwares like Lojack or enrolled under the Norton Anti Theft Service.. There is no other way to track down the Laptop...  Unless the Laptop will be tagged under Stolen Unit with toshiba tech dept and if the person who have the laptop currently will be calling for assistance with Toshiba Tech Support by then toshiba will be getting the current person's information like addresses and other details and by then we can ask assistance with the police for retrieving the Laptop....
so most likely i will suggest that you have to call toshiba Tech Dept.. 1-800-457-7777... They are helpfull..

  • Hi, i have a new toshiba laptop with windows 7 home edition K and first thing i did was download firefox but it does not open... thank you!

Laptop is L630 and i bought it in Korea, language base is korean/english. I downloaded firefox first but it was US-english, so i uninstalled it and re-installed the uk-english version. Before that I set a persona on firefox 9the only add-on i was in time to set)
When i click on the icons it does not launch...
I tried several tiime to relaunch the PC but so far no change...

I can't think of any way to make the Navigation Toolbar appear/disappear based on which direction you move your mouse.
Well, there is full screen view, where the whole toolbar area including the tab bar slides up off the screen, and reappears if you slide the mouse pointer all the way to the top. (You can use the F11 key to turn full screen view on and off.)
Is it possible this is an option of one of your extensions?

  • Toshiba DVR620KU VHS/DVD Recorder broken and needs repaired

I have a fairly new Toshiba DVR620Ku VCR/DVD Recorder that was working fine until I ejected a VHS tape.  The tape hung on some white plastic roller and when I tried to extract it the white plastic roller broke off.  Now the VCR will not work.  Any ideas on how I can get it repaired?  I also have another one which is the same exact model which started having trouble with the VCR when ejecting VHS tapes.  Nothing else wrong with it.  These are great machines when they are working.  The easiest to set up and use.  I hate to toss them into the trash if they can be repaired with a minimal of cost.

  • What kind of wireless bridge would work with Toshiba Regza HDTV & Toshiba Blu-ray DVD Player?

What will provide wi-fi to Toshiba DVD player connecting using an ethernet cable, giving an internet connection.

Thank you for this answer. I have another clarifying question for you as I am a wet behind the ears newbie at this. Does this mean that my 2 Wire DSL modem will be acting as the router that you mention? If yes, it would seem that this would also allow me to watch NetFlix movies from my computer on my Toshiba HDTV-correct possibly?

  • Old Toshiba Satellite with broken CD-Rom now needs a new hard drive to reinstall OS and drivers

I have a very old Toshiba laptop with an unworking Cd/DVD drive. Recently the internal HDD crashed and is unrepairable due to a broken hardware issue. I purchased a new Internal HDD and installed it then attempted to reinstall from the recovery disk using an external DVD drive. This did not work as the computer forces me to utilize the onboard CD/DVD drive. Besides the original HDD crashing after 5 years of use this is still a pretty good laptop which is why I would like to find a way to fix it. If anyone has any ideas I would appreciate it very much.
As an aside I do have a SATA USB cord and if it is possible I might be able to utilize it and the disk to install/recover the new drive and then install it this way however I don't know if this will work. Thanks.

The new Toshiba laptops will allow you to run the Recovery from the USB ports, with either a flash drive or an external DVD drive. Unfortunately, the old Toshibas don't have that option. Your best choice is to replace the broken DVD/CD drive. After that you should be able to run the Recovery and start again.

  • Bought brand new Toshiba A500 laptop, but no Windows 7-64 CD/DVD

Bought brand new Toshiba A500 laptop, but no Windows 7-64 CD/DVD's came with it, just the programs installed on the computer. Since I have been a long-time Dell customer, where all programs installed also come with various CDs/DVDs, I am rather surprised, especially when you consider that I bought a complete Win 7 Utl OS. Where are the discs? For me this can be a future deal breaker. Is Toshiba so confident that their machines will never need to see an OS disc?

they havent put the discs in with there products for a few year now. there is a recovery partition on the hard drive you can use for a recovery. they also have a program called recovery media creator on your laptop to make your own recovery media. it is a way that if people dont make the recovery media you have to call and order some and toshiba gets another $25 for the user. there is a section in your users guide( search users guide in start menu) about page 60 shows how to recover from partition.
    hope that helps
