New Touch/Sync Issue

I'm trying to set up Home Sharing for an existing iTunes account with a new Touch. I've set up Home Sharing on the laptop and the Touch. When I try to sync the new Touch to the music libary nothing happens. At the top of the page it says "Step 1 of 3", "Step 2 of 3" and "Step 3 of 3" but then nothing.  Any ideas?
Thanks!

  • IPod Touch Sync Issues - Fails, then 100% CPU

I've been having a problem where when I try to sync my iPod Touch on my computer, it fails some way through, then the CPU is cranked up to 100% and I have to forcibly restart my computer. Ever since I've installed Windows 7 64-bit I've been having sync issues so I tried restoring it completely and I got myself into this mess. I originally had Vista 32-bit so I'm not sure if it's because of the change. But I have an HP Pavilion dv2615nr. Any help would be greatly appreciated cause I cannot get any music onto my iPod.

    dv2615nr
I believe you've got an nVidia chipset on that model. If so, and you've got over 4 GB of RAM, you'll need to update your Host Controllers.
It's available either as a Microsoft hotfix:
[You encounter problems when you move data over USB from a Windows 7 or Windows Server 2008 R2-based computer that has an NVIDIA USB EHCI chipset and at least 4GB of RAM|http://support.microsoft.com/kb/976972]
... or as a Host Controller update from HP:
[Driver update for Win7 USB issue on nVidia chipset systems now available|http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Lockups-Freezes-Hangs/Driver-update-for- Win7-USB-issue-on-nVidia-chipset-systems-now/m-p/188193]
(Unfortunately, it doesn't always appear on the downloads page for a specific model ... if you upgrade to 7 on some earlier models, they don't always provide all potentially relevant drivers. I couldn't find any Windows 7 drivers available for you model for example.)
To doublecheck to see if your model does have an nVidia chipset, it might be worth posting over at the HP Support forums.

  • 3rd generation iPod touch syncing issues

The last time I tried to sync my iTunes account through a wired connection between my Macbook Pro and 3rd generation iPod touch, I had some major issues.
First: It deleted the YouTube, iBooks, Netflix, Dropbox, Facebook, and Kindle apps from my iPod and will not let me reinstall them because they are "not compatible with this iPod." This is really annoying.  It means I can never sync my computer with my iPod again.  The only way I can get those apps on my iPod is if I go to the store in the iPod and download each one individually.
Second: Some songs that I have recently acquired will not sync with my iPod because they are not the right format or something.  I never had issues with this before.  This song is in the same format as some songs I aready have on the iPod.
Solutions I have tried:  I tried reinstalling iTunes and it didn't help.  I tried reseting my iPod to factory settings and starting with a "new iPod," twice.  This did not help either.
My Question: Is this an issue because my iPod is out of date and means that I am just SOL or can it be fixed?

The shuffle and iPod touch use different drivers.
    See:
iOS: Device not recognized in iTunes for Windows
    I would start with:

  • 5th Generation iPod Touch Syncing issues

I recently receive a 5th Generation iPod Touch as a gift and I am having issues with it. I plugged the iPod into my Windows 7 PC with iTunes 11.4.0.18 and had issues from the start. First, my iPod would not even sync any media content from my library. So I messed around with the settings until the content was on my iPod. Once, it was on there I went to play a song that I had downloaded and it immediately skipped the song and kept going to the next available song , so I went back on to the forums to see that it could be a corruption on the backup and all you would have to do is restore your iPod and it would fix your issue. I did that got to the same step and a few songs played but most skipped. The album art is there for most of the songs not the music. I then went to iPod>On this iPod to find that every song I had just sync had an exclamation point error by the song. This is only happening on the On this iPod menu the music plays fine on the music menu without an issue. I am curious of what I am doing wrong here? I also read that it could be a much bigger problem in that I would have to delete all my music and re-install it. If that is the case I will deal with the iPod as is. It is not worth my time to spend hours trying to re-install 15+ GB on my PC again.

Verify that all play in iTunes on the computer.
    Then
Removing and Reinstalling iTunes, QuickTime, and other software components for Windows XP
    or
Removing and reinstalling iTunes and other software components for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
    - Unsync/delete all music and resync
To delete all music go to Settings>General>Usage>Storage>Music>Tap edit in upper right and then tap the minus sign by All Music
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
iOS: Back up and restore your iOS device with iCloud or iTunes
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.

  • 2nd Generation Ipod Touch Sync issue with Apps.

I have a 2nd generation Ipod touch and Itunes says that I have 6 apps that need to be updated. But when I go to the Itunes app area and try to update it says there is not updates. How do I determine which apps are causing the issue? What can I do to reset the number? Any help is very much appreciated.
    Thanks!  Dave

My guess is that those Apps require iOS 4.3 or later, which a 2nd generation Touch cannot install.
So the notification in iTunes (programme on your computer) will say there are updates to the Apps, because there are. However, since your iPod cannot use them, if you look at the App Store App on your iPod, those Apps won't be (shouldn't be) listed. Occasionally, I think they do get added to the notification number showing in the Apps Store icon on the iPod. I currently have two Apps like that.
    Important:
What you should not do must not do is update the Apps in your iTunes Library (on the computer). If you do, then your next Sync of the iPod Touch to your iTunes Library will remove the App from your iPod and you will lose the App.
My advice is that you ignore the notification number in your Apps Store App icon. It is no longer accurate or even meaningful. Instead, go to the Apps section of your iTunes Library and click on the X updates Available message. That will take you to the Store and list the updateable Apps. Unfortunately, you will need to check each one individually for it's Requirements. If it now requires iOS 4.3 or later - or an iPod Touch 3rd generation running iOS 4.2.1, do not download it. I think that now, every update will require iOS 4.3 or iOS 5, so there will probably be no Apps that you can update. If you do find one, you can update just that individual one by selecting Update as shown below.
I'm in the same boat as you:
Unfortunately, far too many people simply rant on about this, so that it's impossible to get together and lobby Apple to modify this so that those of us with older iPods can continue to use older versions of the Apps. They (Apple) appear to have forgotten that if an existing customer is not in a position to replace their aging iPod with the latest one, then that customer may no longer be able to use an App - thus losing the App's designer his/her customers.
I can see that their thinking is obviously; "the customer will buy a newer iPod because they want to have the latest iPod/they want to continue to use their Apps".
Hhhmmm! Not in the real world!

  • New Calendar Sync Issue with new iPad2

My calendar has synched flawlessly with my google calendar and Mac previously, but since adding a new iPad2 to the mix, I am having some issues.
I noted today that when I made a change on the MBP, the iPad calendar was not updated during a sync. So I checked the settings and "sync calendars" was not checked. Odd since it always synched in the past.
So I selected sync calendars and got the message that over 2000 entries would be added or modified on the MBP. I have also chosen to not sync events more than 30 days old but some of these items go back to 2006.
    An example.
Event happening in April of 2008 shows no original date (whatever that means) so the modification is to add an original date of 12/31/00.
I have no clue what this is about or why the iPad sync is not working correctly.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

try removing proxy settings on gprs connection and try again. Sounds like a proxy problem.

  • New 8900 (Sync issue??)

Just received my shiny new BB 8900 which is looking to be a brilliant piece of kit.
Yet I seem to have one issue that I cannot find an answer to anywhere so I thought you lovely people here may have the answer?
I have Sync'd my contacts from Windows Contacts (Vista Home) to the device but when I go to the contacts on the Blackberry itself the all show a picture in with the contact details which is the actual picture I have set for my user (administrator) on my PC I really cant work out why this is happening?
Has anyone else had this problem if so please could you tell me how to stop this happening?
    Many Thanks in advance

This has nothing to do with your iPad.
This is the number of computers you have authorized with your iTunes account with iTunes.
Is this the only computer that has been authorized with your iTunes account with iTunes? No other computer has been authorized that is still available or that was sold or given to someone else without you deauthorizing the computer before doing so?
It makes no difference until you reach 5 authorized computers. At that time you can deauthorize all at once followed by re-authorizing the computer or computers being used at that time.

  • I have a Movie In I tunes and when my new touch sync's it is not collecting

I am a new user of the touch, i have downloaded a film which i can see in the itunes application on my pc, when my ipod syncs it is not picking up the movie, also it has picked up a couple of music videos, should the movie be stored in the same place ?

Music videos are often found in your downloads playlist. To add that to it, add it to the playlist you use for sycing music. Movies are in the movie library so you add them by going to the movie tab on the iPods device menu. I am doing this blindly but I'm pretty sure it's correct.

  • New Computer--Syncing Issues

About a month and a half ago my Macbook got water spilled on it and the logic board got fried--I took this as a sign to upgrade to the newest Pro model. I have acquired a few new ebooks recently and would like to put them onto my first-gen wifi iPad. However I don't have the ~30 books from my last computer and only about half of them were purchased in itunes, the rest given to me from friends and over the web. In short, I do not have access to all these books anymore.
The issue arises when I try to add my new book it simply does not allow me to and tells me my iPad can only be synced with one library at a time and it needs to be erased to do so.
    My questions are:
    a) can I get my books and apps off the iPad and how do I go about doing so
    b) will I ultimately have to do a clean reset of the iPad and rebuild?

    - You can transfer iTunes purchases to your new computer via:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848
    - You can transfer other stuff via:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2766455&tstart=30
After you transfer all stuff, you do need to have iTunes erase you iPad and replace its contents with that on your new computer. You will lose app data though. One way to avoid that is to get the backup file from you old computer and place that on your new computer and restore from backup. For locations See:

  • Desperately seeking help with ipod touch sync issue

i had an ipod classic 32 recently updated to an ipod touch. i have windows xp media center. i tunes has over 1300 songs. initially tried to sync touch only would sync about 100 songs or so. then would get an error 50 "could be sync because of unknown error 50". shut down itunes tried again, got maybe another 50 songs then unknown error 50 shows up. now it will show up only on a few songs and then stops all together. tried to sync new songs to classic and worked fine. tried touch again same thing, error 50. it actually sync video (i only have one on there) and podcasts fine and it actually synce playlists but obviously are not complete because so many songs are not there but the names of the playlist appear on the touch. went to ipod store and they gave me another (still under warranty). same thing. sync few songs, get error 50 and stops. reinstalled itunes and reset touch. still not working. tried to manually sync was able to sync about 500 songs before i got to error 50 and then it stopped again. i have the most updated itunes and the most updated ipod touch software. does anyone know what else this might be? i am walking around with two 32 gb ipods just to hear my music. i bought the touch to upgrade but i feel like my classic is just better. it has all my music on it.

I am havving exactly the same problem, but I have both with my Ipod Touch and my Ipod classic. I neeed help.

  • New upgrade, sync issues

I just got the newest upgrade, May 22, 2011, and now when I sync a window pops up that states: "iTunes could not back up the iPhone because the iPhone disconnected".
Of course it wasn't disconnected at all, and the battery indicator still showed a connection.  Can anyone help?
    Thanks.

In you case as you have written
THe reason is whoever deveoped this they used customized AD connectors so I am not sure stright forward document will help?
If you are using customized connector then documentation not gonna help you. It's better to see what they have done in new connector and you can add those few things in your old connector as you are already using customized connector of AD.
And we tried to upgrade the AD connector long back but we faced few issues. I don remember the versions exactly, in the new connector they have changed location of some class files.

  • New iPad2 Sync issue

I just got a new iPad2 and after syncing it to my PC it says I have connected to 3 out of the maximum of 5 computers.  It's brand-new and has only ever been connected to the one machine.  How can I reset this back to one?

  • Ipod Touch Sync Issues

When connecting my ipod to iTunes, it will start to sync and then a triangle with an ! inside it appears and disappears when I select it.  Does anyone know why this happens or how to fix?

USB works fine for everything else (portable hard drives, synching and charging android phone etc). The PC I was using last night was a win7 x64 Dell with a freshly reinstalled version of the latest itunes.
But I don't think the issue is to do with the computer or OS or itunes, as I have tried it in several machines this morning including a couple of macs.
Whichever machine I connect it to it simply doesn't pick up the fact that an ipod is present (or indeed any USB device).
Which goes back to my original question, is there a pin in the docking connector that controls this and might this be broken?
    Thanks

  • New password sync issues

I've recently changed my .Mac password and now when adding photos to a .Mac online gallery it won't sync with iPhoto. I get the following error message,
An error occurred with the publication of album “XXXXXX.”
Your MobileMe account information is not correct. The provided login or password is not valid.<
I dutifully opened MobileMe prefs and there's nowhere to change password. Well, O.K., there is a place and I entered my new password as the old one and new one, since it has been working properly everywhere else.
So, I guess the question is, How do I get iPhoto to recognize my new .Mac password?
And yes, I know its now MobileMe, but I never liked that and Mr. Jobs certainly didn't check w/ me before changing everything.
Thanks for your kind consideration and help,
    Louie

    Try the following:
1 - go to the System/MobileMe preference pane and log out of MMe.
2 - login with a bogus username and password like "test" and "test". This clears the caches.
3 - login with your correct username and password.
4 - launch iPhoto and try again.

  • Sold old iPhone, bought (used) new one, syncing issues

    First, I'm using a PC.
Before I sold the old iPhone I backed it up in iTunes.  Plugged the new one in, restored from the backup of my old phone, everything was perfect.  Now, I'm trying to sync new purchases and music onto the new phone, and iTunes is not recognizing it, saying I need to restore (from the old backup) or set it up as a new phone.  I noticed that the serial number associated with my iTunes account does not match the serial number on the new phone.  How do I remedy this!?!?

    :bump:
