your entire forum team is completely incompetant. please sit back and look, historically, at all the bugs that have occured here. do you track them? probably not because of the shame it would bring on you.
sorry to take this rant out on you, but the staff that manages this place are terrible, please replace them or at least let them out of their cages to see the real world sometimes, and how other forums work. because this one has actively pushed away many members, even though their love for the jav is strong.
let the monkeys go finish their novel, and hire some junior college students at least.
thanks.
ps: html is enabled so i could've stolen your cookie and posted as you. seriously this is very pathetic. fix it before people start abusing it.

The GA Launch date for Java SE 6 is Dec 7, 2006. Sun will have several courses updating to the latest SE platform. Watch this forum and http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/java/j2se.xml.
Any requests for Java SE training can be made here also.

  • Java Training from Sun

Has anyone taken any of the courses listed on the following website:
    http://www.sun.com/training/catalog/java/delivery.xml#wlc
If so, how did you benefit from the content? How is the course arranged? Is it very interactive? Does it have audio to accompany all or most of the video? How would you compare this training to other cbt or book training?
    Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Solon magrizos is by far the most interesting professor Ive had throughout my university career. I think a lot of the faculty has managed to fall into a routine where year after year they do the same old thing and become increasingly distanced from their students. Prof. Baron (or Jake as he tells us to call him) goes out of his way to make sure this doesnt happen. He updates his courses year after year to make sure were using relevant examples and always brings in guest speakers for relevant topics. I highly recommend that you go out of your way to take any course you can with him.

  • Net beans Web Service call from Sun Creator

I am new to all of sun studio tools.
Currently I am using Sun Java Studio Creator early access 2 and Net Beans 4.1 for my development project.
I could not find tutorial to create web service using Sun Java Studio Creator therefore I am creating using Net Beans 4.1. I am having difficulty calling web service created in Net Beans 4.1 from Sun Java studio Creator. Could someone please help me out. I looked at all tutorial sun have available about Sun Java Studio Creator Early Access 2 and Net Beans 4.1.
When Net Beans 4.1 is running, the web service can be called from Creator tool but once it's close, web service does not respond. Looks like I need to turn-on the Net Beans 4.1 server but don't know where to go.
Bassically, I would like to call web service created in Net Beans 4.1 from Sun Java Studio Creator Early access 2.
If somebody know how to create web service in Sun Java studio creator, please pass me the link would be great help.
    Thanks
    s

    Thanks for your reply.
I looked at the tutorial link couple days ago but didn't help me.
Coding is fine, no error. I checked the web service by refrencing URL and local WSDL file, it's responding fine when both Net Beans 4.1 and Sun Java Studio Creator EA 2 are up and running. Looks like to call web service locally, I need to have net beans 4.1 app server running concurrently with sun creator app server.
I downloaded and installed Net Beans 4.1 bundled with SJS App Server.
How do I turn on the Net beans 4.1 app server.
There are some default WSDL file for sample projects in sun java studio creator ea 2.
Is there a way to deploy the web service created in net beans 4.1 to sun java studio creator's specific directory and consume those WSDL file just like the sample project.
Is there a way I can use one SJS App Server for both Net Beans 4.1 and Sun Java Studio Creator EA2. If then could you please pass me the tutorial to do so.
    Thanks

  • How do I correctly import the new Train CD (SONY PROTECTED)?

While I have imported numerous CD's - I am having issues importing the new TRAIN CD that is SONY issued. The songs/track names have to be manually typed in....

I don't think your problem is copy protection related, that normally gives you audio problems. In order to get track information on a commercial CD, iTunes connects to an on-line database and downloads the track details. This should happen automatically if you are connected to the internet, if it's not, when iTunes loads your CD go to Advanced>Get CD Track Names and see if it connects manually for you.
For future reference, the way around copy protection is to record your CD directly from your hi-fi to your hard drive and then edit it down to CD tracks. A good audio editor for Windows is the open source program Audacity: http://audacity.sourceforge.net/
In addition to the software you'll need RCA to 3.5 mm audio plug cables to connect the Tape Out sockets of your amplifier to the audio inputs of your computer.
You can use this method on LP, Cassette and on Copy Protected CDs that won't play on your computer.

  • Problems with xalan migrating from Sun One 7 to Sun One 8.1

    Hi!
I'm migrating one application from Sun One 7 to Sun One 8.1, my problem is when I use xalan/xerces to transform XML/XSL appears the following error:
    javax.xml.transform.TransformerException: java.lang.NullPointerException
I put my xalan/xerces version in my WEB-INF/lib but I think that the problem is that internally the server use its xalan that is a strange version, because in MANIFEST file put 2.6.0 version but I compared with 2.6.0 of xalan and it's different.
How any idea to solve this?
    Thanks in advance
    Josep M

As you have an existing portal installation, you will need to have the 9iAS Portal 3.0.8 Upgrade Scripts in order to upgrade to 3.0.8. We expect to have these 3.0.8 upgrade scripts available next week (April 23-27) for download from OTN.
With regards to import/export, Import/Export Utilities currently will ONLY work between portal installations which are at the SAME VERSION LEVEL.
The 3.0.8 upgrade process is an "in-place" upgrade, meaning that it upgrades an existing installation to the 3.0.8 release. You will need to have Portal 3.0.7 on your new box, and then upgrade "in place" to 3.0.8 there. I would advocate also doing a "cold backup" snapshot(backup all database data and log files) of your existing production database files as well.

  • Clone the Solaris OS from Sun Fire X4200 M2 to Sun Fire X4100 M2

    Dear all,
    May anyone help me?
I want to clone the all slices (whole hard disk) in Solaris 10 OS from Sun Fire X4200 M2 Server and then restore it back to Sun Fire X4100 M2 Server. Is it possible to do this? If "Yes", may show me how to do it?
    I appreciate for your help.
    Thanks you in advance,
    Soret,

    Hi.
It's possible, but depend of used file systems, used or not voluem manager, hardware configuration.
    Possible steps:
    1) Make Backup x4200 ( on internal disk or third NFS storage )
    2) Boot x4100 from installation DVD in to Single user.
    2.1 Partitioning disk
    2.2 Create New FS
2.3 Restore backup on new FS. ( need configuree network, and mount disks with backups over NFS )
2.4 use devfsadm for rebuild device tree
    chroot <new_root> devfsadm
2.5 Make neaded customization on new system.
2.6 Install grub and bootblok ( installboot )
2.7 Umount all new FS; halt system.
    3) Try normal boot new system.
Some step for create new disk you may do on original server. Install new disk and make restore on it.
After- return this disk to x4100.
    Regards.

  • Training From The Source

    Hi
being new to flex, I decided to get the Training from the
source book for flex 3, I have to say Im impressed so far.
I have an issue though the categorizedProducts.xml file on
the flexgrocer site seems to be empty. I am trying to run through
the examples. Anybody have any ideas as to why.
I have checked the code and tried a direct link and nothing
is returned although the file exists.
    Thanks

I'm having the same problem with the Flex 4 and 4.5 books.  same site:
www.flexgrocer.com/categorizedProducts.xml .   The first flexgrocer link in the book www.flexgrocer.com/category.xml works just fine (if that's the correct link... i'm going by memory here)

  • Migration of 9iAS R2 from Sun to Linux

We want to migrate out 9i AS infrastucture and server from Sun Solaris to RedHat AS 3. I have been looking for directions on how to do this, but have come up blank. Can someone point me to a document or something that tells us how to do this?
    Any help is much appreciated.
    Thanks ... Vin

Its basically a fresh install and then a data conversion.
Install 9iAS R2 on Linux machine
Patch up to latest levels on both machines
    Synchronize your LDAP database/user store
    export/Import your content areas
If you keep the same hostname/ip address for the new server, you may get lucky - do a fresh install with the same settings as your current system on the linux box, shutdown the rdbms, do an import/export database migration - bring everything up and cross your fingers :)

  • Starting new threads from a servlet

    Hi
I read somewhere that starting new threads from a servlet is not supported in the future releases of J2EE .
    Any one aware of this.
I have a listener program started as a new thread from the init method of a servlet which is set to load on startup.
I have to think about another way to do this if this is not suppported in the future releases
    any comments

    Dr clap
Actually I was getting some warning messages in my websphere server console when I tried to make JDBC connections from the thread I opened in the servlet.
Everthing works fine but with the warning messages,
Then someone from IBM answered me in one of the forums quote
Cause: These messages are being produced due to an
    "unsupported" environment. When application is
spinning its own threads from an EJB, spinning a
thread and accessing a database is not supported (per
the J2EE specification). One exception to this rule is
if a Servlet is spinning its own threads and accessing
a database. The J2EE specification is not clear on
this, so WebSphere Application Server 5.0 must allow
for it at this time. IBM is working with Sun to
clarify this in the specification, so eventually (i.e.
    J2EE 1.4) spun threads from a Servlet accessing a
database outside of a transaction will not be
    supported either.
Since we don't want to promote the usage of these
"naked" threads accessing databases, we are producing
the warning messages. Although they may be filling up
the logs, we feel that these are necessary to warn the
user that they are doing something not in-line with
the intended usage. Customer should consider changing
their application to comply with the
    J2EE specification.
