New type iPods have volume limited.

I love the graphics on the new iPods so I went out and got one only to find that the volume has been limited and is nowhere near as loud as the iPod I had already. I took it back to the shop & got my money back. What I am worried about is whether there will be a software update that limits the volume on my iPod? If there is I will not be updating my iPod software unless there is an option to refuse parts of the update.

All iPods manufactured for the European market have a volume cap applied to them. It's a European directive from those nice people in Brussels who make sure we can't damage our delicate little ears.
If you have an older iPod you can use goPod to remove the cap on iPods that have this volume limitation.
However this application will not work on late model iPods such as the second/third gen nano or the late 2006 model 5th gen iPod, iPod Classic or iPod Touch.

  • Does new Video iPod have Nano scratch problems?

Just wondering if the new iPod has the same scratch issues as the Nano?

I have a black 5th gen and so far I have maybe 2 tiny scratches on the back that are only visible in direct light. I have no scratches on the front but then again I havent taken the plastic off (untill my invis. shield comes). Id just suggest getting the iPod then getting a case asap and keep the plastic on untill then. mines starting to look bad tho because the plastic is peeling off at the bottom

  • How can i take off the volume limitation from my ipod classic?

apparently the ipods being sold in europe have a limitation of volume due to some european laws.
as long as i listen to my ipod over normal headphones the volume is ok, but i would like to connect it as well to my scala-rider (motorcycle interphone system) and even with the volume at maximum i can hardly hear the music. i didn't have this problem with my former mp3-player, this means that the problem cannot be from the headphone of the scalarider.
in the ipod-options (on itunes) i already marked the maximum volume for all my songs, but it is still not enough.
is there any way to get this limitation off?
i know that for the older ipods there was a programm called "GoPod" but it does not work on the newer items.
    thanks for your help.

Reset it: hold the Menu and center buttons down until it resets.
If that does not work you may just have to run the battery down.

  • Is the new Ipod Touch 5g compatible with all of the ios 6 features and is the new Ipod have the exact same design as the Iphone 5 for example square sides, instead of curving sides?

Does the new Ipod have the same features as the Iphone 5 in terms of panorama, or like the new Isight camera? Like the same features/ design?

it is compatible with most iOS 6 things, the main difference is just the fact that it doesn't have 3G or 4G, which limits how much it can use Siri or Maps.
it does have panorama, and a 5 MP iSight camera. the design is different. it is a lot thinner, it has curved edges, and at no part of the side is it flat, same for the top and bottom. that is NOT the case for iPhone. also the iPod doesn't have a mic. on the front.
    hope this answered your question.
just remember this for iOS 6: pretty much everything that doesn't always require internet the iPod can do. if it is something liketurn by turn direction, unless you have wi-fi in car, it wont work.
if you need siri for anything outside of wifi, unless it's something on the hard drive itslef, i.e. setting up reminders, it wont work for thing such as facebook posts, looking for restaurants, etc.

  • Downloading new Itunes but have same Ipod

I have just got a new computer and i have downloaded the new itunes and was wondering will i loose all my song and movies on my ipod when i connect it?

The same thing has happened to me and here is what I did, it worked beautifully:
YOU MUST UN-INSTALL ITUNES BEFORE YOU DO THIS!!
    OK, go here:
    http://www.escsoft.com/idump.php
Go to this website, there are two files you can download. This program is going to let you copy all the stuff from your ipod onto a folder on your new computer. Try the Executable one first, it only take a minute to download. If the Executable one does not work alone, download the Installer, and it will.
After you do that, plug your ipod into the computer, open the iDump program, and then you will see all your files come up in iDump. Click in the boxes what you want copied to your computer. By default, the program will put all your music into your MY MUSIC folder. If you want to change it you can--go to OUTPUT OPTIONS. I just left it alone. After that, you click START COPY. I had about 300 songs and it took a little while so depending on how much you have, you might have to wait. But it is a totally free program and it doesn't have any limitations, thats why its great. OK: next step.
After iDump is finished, exit the program and safely remove your ipod from the computer. NOW you can re-install Itunes. After Itunes is installed, open it up. It should look normal. NOW YOU HAVE TO TAKE ALL THE SONGS FROM WHATEVER FOLDER YOU PUT THEM IN, SELECT THEM ALL, THEN DRAG AND DROP THEM INTO ITUNES.
After that is complete, and ONLY THEN can you actually plug your ipod in, because upon opening it is going to automatically sync your ipod. If you had nothing in Itunes and just plugged your ipod in it would erase EVERYTHING. But now because you have the music in itunes it will not. It should prompt you by saying something about another Itunes library, do you want to sync with this library, and you should click yes! I dont remember the EXACT words, but the on screen prompts are pretty self explanatory. You are safe now!
After that happens, you should be good to go.... worked for me! Good luck

  • Volume limiter for ipod shuffle?

Have been reading about Apple introducing a user-definable volume limiter for ipod nano's and fifth gen ipod's.
Anyone know if this software is going to be made available for ipod shuffle's? (You could adjust the settings for it from within itunes)
    Toshiba laptop   Windows XP

I doubt it because the shuffle doesn't have a screen. You should send Apple your feedback if you really feel that you need to be heard!

  • Volume limited on EU Ipods?

Are the EU Ipods volume limited as in previous ipod generations? just curious as i am interested in getting a touch but when i was in the shop testing it, it just didn't sound very loud even at maximum volume? especially when compared to my 5g Ipod Video.

Either get your ears tested or buy some noise isolation earphones. I never have my touch above 60% and I am used to having it at 100%. I am not pushing earphones but since I got some I have not wanted anything else. They stop all the background noise so you dont need to push it to the max just to hear your music. Oh and I used the volume limit remove tool for my 5th gen. Now it seems i will turn back to the eu limit on my 5th gen.
The only people who say it is too quiet are listerning on poor quality earphones, ie anything under £80.

  • I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space, and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run t media from an external hard drive? If so, how do I transfer my files?

I have a new Windows tablet computer with limited hard drive space (32 GB), and cannot transfer my itunes library to the hard drive. Can I run itunes from an external hard drive? I have tried to follow some of the directions on this site, but am having no success. Thanks.

iTunes will run fine with the media on an external drive.
However, I suggest that a tablet computer with a tiny hard drive is not ideal as the primary computer for managing an iTunes library, even a small one. If you have another machine, perhaps a big, boxy, inexpensive old desktop with a decent amount of storage, that might be a better choice.

I have multiple Apple IDs. Is there a way for me to merge them into a single Apple ID?
Apple IDs cannot be merged. You should use your preferred Apple ID from now on, but you can still access your purchased items such as music, movies, or software using your other Apple IDs.

  • Can someone tell me how to sync my ipod on my new computer i have just authorised. i hate this

Can someone tell me how i sync my ipod on my new computer. i have authorised the computer but i can not find where to sync it. i thought Apple was meant to be easy

    Hi Richail,
Once you have selected your sync options in iTunes, such as what music or videos you want to transfer, the Apply button should be in the bottom right hand corner of the window. For more information on syncing iOS devices, you may find the following article helpful:

  • I have just received my new 160GB ipod... - some questions! Please help.

    Hi,
I have just received my new 160GB ipod and have a few questions.
    1. I have been using a 3rd generation ipod for the past few years. I have an ipod dock that I got with that, can I use that with a firewire charger to charge the ipod?
    2. I do not want a big bulky case for the ipod. I have read that the front of the classic does not scratch very easily as the screen is glass. Can anyone confirm if this is true??
I was going to buy some kind of a shield until i read this... do I need one?
    - What about the back of the ipod? How could I go about protecting this? Does anyone know if the Belkin protective overlays for ipod video fit? (Shown here - http://catalog.belkin.com/IWCatProductPage.process?Product_Id=257250).
I have ordered some ipod socks off amazon (found some very cheap if anyone is interested - shown here http://www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B0007TXTB6/). As I don't want a bulky case, will these protect my ipod enough?
Sorry for all the questions, just that I have got my iPod but don't really want to use it until i've got some scratch protection on it.
    Thanks in advance,
    Matt

Jake, you can charge with a firewire cable but you won't be able to sync or transfer.
The Classic has a polycarbonate screen. Only the iPhone (Touch?) has a glass one.

  • . I am new to IPods. I have a Classic 160GB and I can't figure out how to load my music videos to it. I have had no problem loading my music CD's but no go with the music videos I have. Please HELP. Thanks maxsdad

    Hello:
I am new to IPods. I have a Classic 160GB and I can't figure out how to load Music Videos to iTunes or the IPod. I have had no problem loading my CD's to iTunes and to the IPod, but no go on the Music Videos.
    Please Help

    B-Rock:
Ok. Here's the results. I tried all the music videos I wanted to put onto the IPod and the results were:
I was able to get good results with 2 full length music videos and 2 video singles(only 2 videos on each disk). For a total of 4 videos.
I was able to encode 5 full length music videos, but the results were distorted (video and audio).
I was unable to copy 2 full length videos due to error failures. 1 was a "No Title Found" error, the other was a "NAVDAT" error.
I guess my next question is: Do you know of any other program(s) that I might try, to see if I can get good results with the videos that didn't work with Handbrake?
Thanks again for all your help.
