New UCM Layout - publishing images

Hi All,
I created a new Layout. The Layout is derived from standard Top Menus.
I have problem with a copy the standard menu images (arrows, etc.) to my new Layout/Skin. I have the image oracle_logo.png in my new skin folder, but I DON'T have the image "menuA_ArrowDown.gif".
I used CreateLayoutAndSkin from the Kyle's blog. My component is "same" but I 'still don't know where is the problem.
Thanks,
Martin

Bob,
Can you show a screen shot of the LR Publishin Manager setup used for this published collection as this one (use Edit Settings on the Publish Service):

• Adding blog / news list layout small image

Is it possible to generate a small image of the image attached to a news or blog and include it in the list layout?
I'm trying to accomplish something similar that is available for the product, in the blog or news module.
Does anyone have any suggestions?
thank you,

Hi mfj102,
Please see this thread which discusses this topic: http://forums.adobe.com/message/5853967. As mentioned, the best method would be to re-create a blog using the web app functionality.

• ArchWiki: suggestion for a new page layout

Finally, I have some time to spare for ArchWiki improvement.
I have modified my article on CMYK support in The GIMP as an example.
Please take a look at it here:

The code to produce the box on the right is here:

This article will show how to enable rudimentary CMYK support in The GIMP using the Separate plug-in, and explain how to use color proof filter to soft-proof your images.

This is the best we can do with current ArchWiki setup. It would be even better if we could list categories in the box, as well as i18n links.

As you can see, it's a bit more typing than before, but it sure looks better. I might shorten the names for the templates. I wanted to make them memorable so they are a bit long.
As you can see, the problem of i18n links integration was fixed, so you can use existing i18n template and combine with the new "Article summary" set.
I will modify the article about writing summaries to include those templates and examples.
EDIT:  :oops:  the i18n links in the article are just examples. Don't use them, since they lead to non-existing pages.
EDIT2: Okay, I've played around with the appearance of the summary box, but I'm at work now, so it's going nowhere. I'll play with it some more when I get home.

• Publishing Image: Not able to remove it

Good morning,
I have a problem with a Pulishing Image attribute on a library: I add it as an optional parameter and everything works fine (creating a new item without filling this field and creating a new item filling in it).
My problem is when I want to remove a previously populated image from a library item. I receive a warning that I cannot leave that field empty.
Can anybody help me?
Thanks.

Hi,
Per my understanding, there is a Publishing Image type column in your library. When removing an image from an item of this column in EditForm.aspx page, there is a warning message
that cannot leave this field empty.
I tried to reproduce this issue in my environment as below:
1. Create a custom site column in “Publishing Image” type;
2. Add this custom site column to a library;
3. Add new document into this library, in the EditForm.aspx page, select an image for the custom site column, save;
4. “Edit Properties” of this newly item, in the EditForm.aspx page, remove the image from that site column, save;
It turns out that all works as expected.
I suggest you follow the steps above for another test in a new library to see if the issue persists.
Thanks

• SharePoint 2010 Cache Not working for Publishing Images Document Library

Hi
I am using SharePoint 2010 Publishing Site and have enabled anonymous access.
I have enabled blob cache and object cache in the site.
While i was checking with fiddler those objects in style library and other document libraries are cached.
Whereas the images from the document library Publishing images is not cached; its returning 304 Not Modified status code.
Is there a way to include the Publishing images to be cacheable as well ?
Please advise
Ready for Action

Did you perform IISreset on all sharepoint server after enabling cache
http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc261797%28v=office.15%29.aspx
To use the page output cache and the associated cache profile settings, you must be using the Publishing feature on your site.
http://sharepointinterface.com/tag/caching/
Wiley went out to SharePoint, checked the article that he wrote, and saw that he did indeed use a series of dynamite sticks for an image. The page should have actually appeared as it does in the screenshot that is above and to the left. After a quick facepalm,
Wiley realized that he needed to make a change – and fast.
Wiley went out to the Publishing Images library for the site collection and uploaded a new version of the
newsarticleimage.jpg image file – one that contained a barrel of TNT instead of a bundle of dynamite. He then browsed to the article page and did a refresh.
Nothing changed.
Wiley hit F5 in his browser. Still nothing changed.
Over the course of the hour that followed, Wiley grew increasingly more bewildered and panicked as he tried in vain to get the new TNT barrel to show up on the article page. He uploaded the image several more times, closed and re-opened his browser, deleted
and then reloaded the image, re-published and re-approved the actual article page, and even got the administrators to flush the SharePoint BLOB Cache. None of the actions made a difference.
The Coyote Never Wins
Why didn’t any of Wiley’s efforts make a difference? Because what Wiley didn’t understand was that there was nothing he could do short of flushing his cache that would prompt the browser to re-request the updated image. The browser started using the cached
copy of the image after the first request Wiley made in the morning; i.e., the request to verify that the image on the page was incorrect as Fulfillment indicated. For another 24 hours (86400 seconds), the browser would continue to use the cached image.
Wiley’s image problem was just one of the potential issues that might surface as a result of the BLOB Cache change. It was also one of the more visible problems. In looking at the
path attribute of the BlobCache element, you might have noticed some of the other file types that got cached by default – file types with
js (JavaScript) and css (Cascading Style Sheets) extensions, for example. Any of those file types which were served from site collection lists and libraries would also be impacted by the “fetch once and use for 24 hours” behavior.
If this helped you resolve your issue, please mark it Answered

• How to make a "new photo to publish" be considered "published" without actually publishing it?

how to make a "new photo to publish" be considered "published" without actually publishing it?
I have some photos that are really just stubs that represent the other "real" photos to publish.
I don't want to have to do a mock export/rendering of them just to make them appear published.
Any ideas?
Rob

In one of my plugins I have a requirement to download and add photos from the remote server and populate the newly created published collection in Lightroom.  In this routine, I use the following code to add the images to a published collection using the method provided by Don above.
catalog:withWriteAccessDo('createcollection', function()
         newcollection = v:createPublishedCollection(h.title)
         newcollection:setRemoteId(h.id)
end)
catalog:withWriteAccessDo( 'NPGSetUpdates', function()
         newphoto = catalog:addPhoto(newpath)
         newcollection:addPhotoByRemoteId(newphoto,p.id,p.url,true)
end)
The biggest thing here is that adding a photo like this requires the code to reside within the withWriteAccessDo block.

• Hit PrtSc on new keyboard layout and lost clipboard data?

The new keyboard layout place the PrtSc button at the bottom row of the keyboard between left Alt anc Ctrl.
I think some of you might have already tried that, when you try to press the right Ctrl or Alt (for example try to press Ctrl+V... etc) or even just accidentally hit the PrtSc key, and then the text that you copied will be cleared in the clipboard so you need to go back and copy again.
Even worse: You can't recover if you cut and closed the application, then hit PrtSc and let the clipboard to be overwritten!
Solved!
Go to Solution.

There are two ways to deal with the problem: (1) bypass Windows print sceren functionality or (2) install a clipboard manager.
To bypass Windows print sceren functionality you can install a program. An opensource example is Lightscreen. You can configure it to directly save the print screen into your document directory instead of overwriting the clipboard. There is an extra benefit, that you don't need to do print screen, then open Paint, then paste, then save the image just to upload or save it.
An opensource example of clipboard manager is Ditto. It tracks changes in the clipboard and save a history of everything. In case if the PrtSc key overwritten the clipboard, most of the time you will be able to recover.

• Publishing Images to Flickr

I'm having trouble publishing images to Flickr using the built-in Flickr button. For some reason only the original image is being uploaded. For example I took a photo that was crooked and needed white-balance adjustment. I straightened and adjusted the WB then dragged the image into my Flickr album. When I go to the Flickr site, the photo is the original photo; crooked and yellowish. I tried deleting it from Flickr and uploading it again and still the original photo shows up on Flickr's site! It's especially frustrating since this uploading is eating away at my Flickr 100 MB photo limit and I can't experiment too much.
Is anyone else having this problem or have a solution?

      Not sure why they are there but the Publish services e.g. uploading to Flickr, SmugMug etc. does not create any new files on your hard drive.

• Facebook getting multiple published images.

Im using LR5.3 but this has been going on since 5 came out.
I like to publish images directly to Facebook and Flickr using the built in publish services, and while Flickr has no issues at all I'm finding most of the time Facebook is getting duplicate images from each publish session.
For example, same 5 files in Flickr and FB publish module. Flickr gets 5 images, FB gets 10 and I have to go to thier web page and delete them.
Sometimes ill edit a shot after posting but will mark the shot as up to date and it leaves the re publish section, yet still it gets published as a new file.
Any ideas what's going on? I know there are other options for doing this but I'd rather get his figured out.
Very frsutrating.

Thanks jscher2000. I went to the links you posted and cruised the suggestions. Ended up booting in SafeMode and doing Malware/Antivirus scans there. I dont' have much of a tech background so figured that would be the safest first try. Both security programs found bugs and at this point looks like finding and deleting the stuff there did the trick. I think the source culprit was some sort of bogus Java script or program. I'd seen that come up in a previous scan but at that point thought it had been deleted. But I think I needed to do the SafeMode so my security programs could finish the job. Right now all is quiet on the western front so....... Thanks again!

We need new keyboard layout in Korea.
The Google offers new keyboard layout for the Korean language.

• How I can create a new page layout template for EP 7.0

Where I can found tutorial or description.
I have already provided the par-file for new page layout but I do not know like I should integrate in the enterprise portal 7.0.
Greeting Daniela

when you already provided the par file then
go to content admin->portla content
go to your folder in pcd content and right click and navigate to new-> layout. There you can find your deployed  new page layout par file.
Create a page layout based on the par file and in the properties make it as template.
Later when you try to create a page then you will get the new layout as one of the option.

• [svn] 4634: First part of glue code for allowing Halo components to use the new Text Layout Framework , in order to get functionality such as bidirectional text.

Revision: 4634
Author:   [email protected]
Date:     2009-01-22 17:38:56 -0800 (Thu, 22 Jan 2009)
Log Message:
First part of glue code for allowing Halo components to use the new Text Layout Framework, in order to get functionality such as bidirectional text.
Background:
TLF is making this possible by implementing a TLFTextField class. It is a Sprite that uses TLF to implement the same properties and methods as the legacy TextField class in the Player. Thanks to the createInFontContext() bottleneck method in UIComponent, it can be used by a properly-written Halo component (such as those in Flex 3) without any modifications to the component.
Note: Text should render similarly -- but is unlikely to render identically -- when a component uses TLFTextField vs. TextField. The width and height may be different, affecting layout; text could wrap differently; etc. This is a fact-of-life based on the fact that TLF/FTE and TextField are completely different text engines.
Whether a Halo component uses TLF or not to render text will be determined in Flex 4 by a new style, textFieldClass. (Gumbo components always use TLF.)
TLFTextField is currently only partially implemented. It does not yet support scrolling, selection, editing, multiple formats, or htmlText. Therefore it can only be used for simple display text, such as a Button label.
Details:
The TextStyles.as bucket 'o text styles now includes a non-inheriting textFieldClass style. It can be set to either mx.core.UITextField or mx.core.UITLFTextField. These are the Flex framework's wrapper classes around the lower-level classes flash.text.TextField (in the Player) and its TLF-based workalike, flashx.textLayout.controls.TLFTextField.
The global selector in defaults.css currently sets it to mx.core.UITextField using a ClassReference directive. For the time being, all Halo components will continue to use the "real" TextField.
The new UITLFTextField is a copy of UITextField, except that it extends TLFTextField instead of TextField. This class has been added to FrameworkClasses.as because no classes in framework.swc have a dependency on it. It will get soft-linked into applcations via the textFieldClass style.
The TLFTextField class currently lives in a fourth TLF SWC, textLayout_textField.swc. This SWC has been added to various build scripts. The external-library-path for building framework.swc now includes all four TLF SWCs, because UITLFTextField can't be compiled and linked without them. However, since they are external they aren't linked into framework.swc.
Properly-written Halo UIComponents access their text fields only through the IUITextField interface, and they create text fields like this:
textField = IUITextField(createInFontContext(UITextField));
(The reason for using createInFontContext() is to support embedded fonts that are embedded in a different SWF.)
The createInFontContext() method of UIComponent has been modified to use the textFieldClass style to determine whether to create a UITextField or a UITLFTextField.
With these changes, you can now write code like
to get two Buttons, the first of which uses UITextField (because this is the value of textFieldClass in the global selector) and the second of which uses UITLFTextField. They look very similar, which is good!
Currently, both Buttons are being measured by using an offscreen TextField. A subsequent checkin will make components rendering using UITLFTextField measure themselves using an offscreen TLFTextField so that measurement and rendering are consistent.

Many of your points are totally legitimate.
This one, however, is not:
…To put it another way, the design of the site seems to be geared much more towards its regular users than those the site is supposedly trying to "help"…
The design and management of the forums for more than five years have driven literally dozens of the most valuable contributors and "regulars" away from the forums—permanently.
The only conclusion a prudent, reasonable person can draw from this state of affairs is that Adobe consciously and deliberately want to kill these forums by attrition—without a the PR hit they would otherwise take if they suddenly just shut them down.
