New Unit of measures & ISO codes

Hello,
We are currently trying to create some new unit of measure in our system which will be used in QM module and are very specific. For this reason, we can't find any corresponding ISO code in our SAP system. SO we have a few question about this point :
1) Could you tell us which UoM is ISO or not among the above list ? For ISO UoM, could you give us the corresponding 3 digits code (field T006I- ISOCODE) we will need to use to create them into our system?
o   AE :                                       Amylogram Equivalent
o   °BX :                                     Brix Degree
o   Cfu/m3:                              Colony Forming Unit per m3
o   IU/kg :                                 International Unit per Kilogram
o   meq/kg :                            Milli Equivalent per Kilogram (WHO-TEQ)
o   µg/100g :                            Microgram per 100 grams
o   mL/100g :                           Milliliter per 100 grams
o   pg WHO-TEQ/g :             Picogram per Gram
o   g/mL :                                  Gram per Milliliter
2) Is it possible to add some new ISO codes in this SAP standard table (T006C)? On your side, do you update the content of this standard table (update of the content of the standard table) and dispatch it to your customer?
3) Do you have a website or SAP transaction referencing the entire official ISO codes you've registered?
In this website link(http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/SI/UnitofMeasurerelatedsettingsinSAP), you are redirecting us to an ISO reference website in part I.2.(http://www.unece.org/etrades/codesindex.htm ) which is not working anymore
Thanks in advance for your help.
Best regards,
Pierre Alauzet

How to crete the new unit of measurment which can be used for conversion and what are the tcode.
    Atul Kulkarni

    Hi,
You can create UoM's by using transaction CUNI.
Check for the right dimension under which the new UoM falls under..e.g.Assign the SI unit (In each dimension, a unit is defined as the SI unit. This is the basis for the conversion from one unit to another.) to the dimension if required.
Create a ISO code. The ISO code is important for EDI. It is used to convert the internal SAP measurement units into standard measurement units.
Define UoM: Be aware to give the correct commercial as well as Technical unit, the commercial unit is used in SAP whereas technical unit you can use in EDI,IDoc.You can assign the ISO code while defining UoM's.Hope this helps!

    Dear All,
I think, its MM-related query. However, I am sharing it with all you people.
I need to add new Units of Measurements, like RIM, which are not configured in Standard SAP-Sysem.
Where do i congigure the same (Path & T. Code)?
Also, what are other significant pre-requirements for configuring new Units of Measurements?

  • ISO code of UOM

    Dear Experts,
In SAP,  ISO Code "PCE" already maintained for UOM Pieces (PCS) and already we've created lots of material which base UOM is Pieces (PCS). Can I change ISO code as PS instead of PCE ?
    Is it possible?
If I change it in SPRO>SAP Ref. IMG>SAP Net Weaver>General Settings>Check Unit of Measurements>ISO Code Tab or in Unit of Measurement Tab  then what kinds of problem we will face??
    Thanks in advance.

  • ISO codes for Units of Measure

are the iso codes held in the uom the standard codes?  are these sap standard or can these be amended to what is being output and received by the business for EDI?

    Hi Smith,
Go through the below explanation, which would be helpful for you.
    Check units of measurement
In applications you often have to make calculations with quantities and physical units. Units of measurement are needed for their screen display and for internal conversions (such as kilogram <-> gram, but also centimeter <-> inch). The international system of units (SI) is used for this.
The international system of units is based on seven basic units of measurement. All other units are derived from these basic units. Units of measurement that measure the same quantity (and can therefore be converted into each other) are included in a dimension.
Units of measurement are held centrally in the SAP System for all applications. The conversion factors are stored in the system with a unique internal key. The external display specifications are maintained for each unit of measurement language-dependently. A business key (3 characters) and a technical key (6 characters) should be maintained for each language.
    Standard settings
In the standard delivery system, units of measurement are defined according to the international system of units (SI).
For a new installation, units of measurement are delivered in all clients. For upgrades, new units of measuremente are delivered only in Client 000. They then still have to be transported to the production clients.
    Recommendation
If you intend to perform cross-company data exchange, note that units of measurement with company-specific characteristics may have an adverse effect.
    Activities
Check that the dimensions delivered and the associated units of measurements are complete.
If you are using EDI, you should also check the ISO codes.
    Dimensions
    1. Call the maintenance transaction by double-clicking with the mouse on the Execute symbol.
    2. On the initial screen of the maintenance transaction, call the function Dimensions
To get a definition of a dimension, place the cursor on the dimension and choose the function Details.
    3. If required, create new dimensions with the function New entries.
    Units of measurement
    1. Call the maintenance transaction by double-clicking with the mouse on "Execute", or press F3 to leave dimension maintenance and return to the initial screen of the maintenance transaction.
    2. Select - from F4 Help for the field next to the Units of Measurement function - the individiual dimensions, and choose the Units of Measurement function.
To get a definition of a unit of measurement, position the cursor on the unit of measurement and choose the function Details.
    3. If required, define new units of measurement according to the international system of units (SI) with the menu function Unit of meaurement -> Create.
Here you have to make make specifications for:
Display (including a descriptive Units of measurement text)
Conversion (not applicable to units of measurement without dimensions)
    Data exchange (EDI) (optional)
    Application parameters
    ISO codes
    1. Call the maintenance transaction by double-clicking with the mouse on "Execute", or press F3 to leave maintenance of units of measurement or dimensions and return to the initial screen of the transaction.
    2. Choose the function ISO codes.
    3. If required, maintain new ISO codes with the function New entries.
    Hope this helps.
    Thanks,
    Viswanath

  • Creation of New Base Unit of Measure

Hi Forum, does anyone have any detail on how to go about creating new units of measure and what to look out for?  Any documentation would be appreciated.
I know the Tcode (CUNI) and to copy certain existing BuM's but was wondering about the ISO and whether i actually need to apply for this as we wont be using EDI with our Vendors.  Any best practice or guidance to be aware of would be highly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Dan

Generally, if you are creating new Uom same as like exisitng one and you are not using the EDI than you are file with ISO code but if you are planning to use EDI than you can search for ISO code on Google. If the Uom is standard other wise you have to use the exisitng which can match some percentage to your Uom

  • Risk in populating Unit of measure for commodity code (foreign trade) in ECC

We have recently implemeted product classification in GTS for the EU and US.  We want to implement the transfer of tariff data from GTS to ECC via the standard GTS transactions /SAPSLL/SWN_RTR and /SAPSLL/SWN_RTR_R3.
Our compliance team is concerned about beginning to populate the unit of measure commodity code in ECC.  I know this field is only visible when a supplementary unit is on the tariff number and is different than the base unit of measure on the material master.  These additional units of measure must be configured in order for the XML tariff files to load properly.
One concern that has come up is the conversion of the base UoM to the new unit of measure from the tariff files.  Are there other issues/risks I need to be aware of?  My understanding is this unit is used only when reporting the products to the customs authorities.
I appreciate any guidance you can give me.

    Hello Alison,
We implemented this, however, made an enhancement not to transfer the UOM to ECC. Our consultants are unable to clearly articulate the use of UOM in classification. I still have not have a complete grasp of UOM with classification. One thing we constantly run into, is job fails when external/internal UOM is not maintained during transfer of classification from GTS to ECC. Since we are not transferring UOM to ECC, we are now considering enhancement, so we do not have to maintain internal/external UOM from the files we receive from Customs Info. We have had a number of issues trying to figure out what to maintain as internal UOM for UOM sent by Customs Info. There is no ISO code to cross reference and makes it very difficult to figure this out.
Another thing that you need to be aware off - if you have products that is not classified in GTS and you have classification maintained in ECC, you can overwrite ECC values with blanks- the product master change/update date (for anything - not just classification) is picked up by the re-transfer job. We are currently making enhancements in the commodity code retransfer program, only to transfer when there is a value in GTS for classification.
I see Dave's message above " UoM is necessary for the calculation that supports your sourcing decisions as well as for your declarations to the authorities". I am really interested to understand the function of UOM in classification.

    Padma

  • Unit of Measurement with same commercial key

    Hello,
I want to create different internal measurement units, by assigning same commercial , technical and ISO code like below:
    Unit   commercial     technical         ISO code
    TA       PC                  Piece             PCE
    ST       PC                  Piece             PCE.
while createing second one, system is giving error meassage Commercial UNIT :PC:  already existed. Messsage number:BM009.
How can I over come this?
    regs,
    Ramesh

The Commercial unit is a key field and has to be unique.
What is the need of creating another UOM with same details.

  • Unit of Measure BOX not defined in language DE

    Hi Experts,
We have a Unit of measure BOX, it is used in a Purchase Requisition.
When converting this PR to PO the vendor entered has the language German(DE) and system throws out an error message mentioned in the subject.
I have checked in SPRO under UOM settings and found that this has been maintained for all the languages the path I have checked is SPRO --> SAP NetWeaver  -->General Settings  -->  Check Units of Measurement -->  ISO Units --> Select the UOM (BOX) and then in Menu options (Goto --> Translation).
Can anyone help me out what can be the other possible reasons.
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    Regards
    Lucky.

    Dear Lucky,
Normally this issue happens because a missing entry for unit in transaction CUNI.
To maintain this, enter the transaction: CUNI
Click "Unit of Measurement" and maintain the following as below.
    Unit           : XX
    Commercial     : XX
    Technical      : XX
    Meas.unit text : Activ.unit

  • Pricing Procedure for diffrent unit of measure for diffrent product

    1) Existing Pricing procedure --> Condition type based on Quantity
    2) Existing Product --> Sales Unit & Base Unit of Measurement is in NOS ( Numbers )
    3) New Product ( Belt ) ---> Pricing of product based on weight
    ex :--> Rubber Belt -->   1 belt = 11.50 kg , Price = Rs. 100/ kg
As the production of material will go on weight of Belt will reduce in range of 11.50 to 11 kg . For different batch of production weight will change
every time weight of material will be calculated and price will be charged on basis of net weight ( Kg)
    4) New product is assigned to new division ( it will bw sold in new division only )
    Question
    1) What should be Base Unit / Sales Unit  of measurement ?
    2) Do we need to create new pricing procedure or existing pricing procedure will work ?
for new product  we need to create new condition type for which calculation type will be Net Weight .
    3) do we need to do any customization for this ?
Exice people say that if pricing is done in KG (Net weight ) they want to see stock in KG
Management want to see stock in KG & Numbers

May be you can Create a New Unit Of Measure called ZPC. For using ZPC you need to assign Additional Base Unti Of Measure as ZPC in your Material Masters as well.
Use ZPC to create your condition records of pricing and in Sales order you will still have Unit of Measure as PC which the management wants to see..
Similarly you can create Constion records for new product based on Kg.

  • Unit of measure in BOM

    Hi...
I have one problem with unit of measure in BOM.
We can maintain item quantity upto 3 decimal point. My problem is with one of material having consumption of  0.01042 for 1pc of header material.
Due to constraint in maintining decimal point in BOM we maintained it as 0.011 & it leads to undesired result after BOM explosion.
I know there is one way of going with base qty. of header to be changed.
Suggest  other else? How to get out of this.....
    Regards
    Tushar

Hi Brhamankar...Thanx for your valuable i/p.
We have got solution to the said problem as below(Without increasing the base quantity of header)...
1)Create new unit of measure say TP
2)Maintain it as alternate unit of measure with conversion as 1000TP=1042PC in material master of that component
3)Maintain the quantity in BOM as 0.01TP
4)Make plan entry for header level say for 50000
5)After MRP run , procurement proposal for component as 521PC(Previously it was 550PC because restriction of 3 decimal point, in BOM rounded with 0.01042 =0.011PC)
6)After MFBF, material consumption is also found ok

  • BOM Unit of measure.

    Hi gurús,
I want to include a material in a material list with a different unit of measure than the base unit of measure recorded in the material info record.
I tried creating a new unit measure in the additional data at the material info record, but then, when I include the material with the new unit of measure in the material list, the system display an error message (A) as the following:
"Unit of measure KG not supported for material XXA in plant AAB"
I would like to know how to include a material in a material list with a different unit of measure.
    Example:
    Material 100
    Base unit of measure: UN
    CS02
Additional data --> Unit of measure: KG
    CS02 --> Material 100 with unit KG.
The system display error message (A).
