New unsolicited playlist just showed up in my iTunes!

This morning when I signed on to iTunes (6.0.1) I noticed a new playlist listed just below my "Purchased Music" playlist and it was titled "HP_Owner's LimeWire Tunes". What is this and where did it come from? I've tried dragging it to trash, but each time I click it, it tries to load, so I keep doing a Force Quit on it. How can I get rid of this playlist?

I can't quite remember but I think I had this playlist as well. It has got something to do with shareing and limewire or something. anyway the easy solution is: get rid of limewire.
what version of limewire are you running?
you're using LimeWire for legal purposes right???

    Try:
    - Reset the iOS device. Nothing will be lost
Reset iOS device: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Reset all settings
Go to Settings > General > Reset and tap Reset All Settings.
All your preferences and settings are reset. Information (such as contacts and calendars) and media (such as songs and videos) aren’t affected.
    - Restore from backup. See:
    iOS: How to back up
    - Restore to factory settings/new iOS device.
    -  Make an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store.

    Hi abbiesetty,
If your iPhone is showing the Connect to iTunes screen and you are unable to restore because your iPhone isn't being recognized by iTunes on your Windows machine, you may find the troubleshooting steps outlined in the following article helpful:

My phone is telling me to restore it as it will not come on and just shows a plug into itunes sign...however there is an error restoring it. HELP?!

    You might try:
Placing your device into recovery (DFU) mode:
Follow these steps to place your iOS device into recovery mode. If your iOS device is already in recovery mode, you can proceed immediately to step 6.
       1. Disconnect the USB cable from the iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch, but leave the
other end of the cable connected to your computer's USB port.
       2. Turn off the device: Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button for a few seconds
until the red slider appears, then slide the slider. Wait for the device to turn off.
                  * If you cannot turn off the device using the slider, press and hold the
Sleep/Wake and Home buttons at the same time. When the device turns off,
release the Sleep/Wake and Home buttons.
      3. While pressing and holding the Home button, reconnect the USB cable to the
device. The device should turn on. Note: If you see the battery charge warning,
let the device charge for at least ten minutes to ensure that the battery has some
charge, and then start with step 2 again.
      4. Continue holding the Home button until you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen.
When this screen appears you can release the Home button:
      5. If necessary, open iTunes. You should see the following "recovery mode" alert:
      6. Use iTunes to restore the device.
If you don't see the "Connect to iTunes" screen, try these steps again. If you see the "Connect to iTunes" screen but the device does not appear in iTunes, see this article and its related links.
    Additional Information:
If you have a problem getting into recovery mode then try: RecBoot: Easy Way to Put iPhone into Recovery Mode.
Note: When using recovery mode, you can only restore the device. All user content on the device will be erased, but if you had previously synced with iTunes on this computer, you can restore from a previous backup. See this article for more information.

  • Tried restoring iPad to prepare it to sell, encountered error now iTunes won't recognize.  The iPad just shows the connect to iTunes even after restarting.

I tried restoring iPad1 to prepare it to sell, encountered error during the restore.  iTunes dispalyed a message that there had been an error.  My iPad1 is just showing the image to connect to iTunes, even after i try restarting the iPad1.  I've also restarted my PC and iTunes will not recognize the iPad1.
iTunes is and will recognize my new iPad3 just fine.
How do I get my iPad1 to come back to life?
    Thanks!

No luck.  The article says to press and hold the home button, then plug in the usb cable.  When i do that, I still just have the connect to itunes image on the iPad, and iTunes is not recognizing the iPad.

  • How do I get my new ipod touch to show up on my itunes page

I got an itouch for christmas yesterday, however whenever I connected it to my laptop (compaq windows) it wouldn't show up on my itunes sidebar like it should. So then I decided to download the latest version of itunes, i did that, then i downloaded icloud, (i still don't know how to create an account for that either) Anyways, ever since I opened it and connected it has had the same picture, I think it's in recovery mode but I'm not sure. Does anyone know how to help me?
that is what it has looked like since I got it, and connected to the computer. ^ ^

  • My phone has died. I tried upgrading my Iphone 3gs yesterday to ios. It failed to update, it has failed to restore. Now its just showing a plug and Itunes on the screen. Please help soonest

My I phone is literally dead. I tried upgarding the software yestreday, it refused saying there was an error, I was given an option to restore it, it has failed. Now there is no old software as well as the new software. Its showing a plug and an Itunes signal on top. Thats all that it has. I will be very grateful to receive any form of help out there.

The iOs 5.1 is a huge file that needs to be dowloaded when updating/restoring, your phone hasnt completed the update so its now in recovery mode. Look on the left of itunes, it should say downloads under the store section with a spinning wheel, click that and youll see the update file with a time remaining, wait for that download to finish then try the restore again  and it should work

  • New Playlist just showed up

I just downloaded the most up to date version of iTunes today I believe it's 5.0.1 and for some reason I've got a blue icon playlist called 'feng lu's Music' I have no clue what it is and there's ton's of songs there I've never heard of and lots of I think Japanese songs or possibly chinese as I can't read the foreign script how has this happened? Please help

    Daniel--
Someone on your local subnet has turned on their music sharing. You just need to open iTunes' preferences and turn off "Look for shared music" in the "Sharing" pane.

  • Playlists not showing up after moving itunes to new computer

moved itunes to new computer and used an externa;l harddrive to move "iTunes" folder over.  the most recent "setup" of itunes on old computer is not showing on new computer.  For example "music" file size on external drive is 133GB - on new computer itunes, only 33GB.  and, playlists have disapeared.  any ideas?

See Make a split library portable for some background on moving the library successfully. You need the main iTunes library.itl file, its supporting files and the Album Artwork folder as well.
If you can find that data it should be possible to put everything together in the right shape and make it work.
Otherwise I have two scripts called ImportDevicePlaylists and SyncStats which may prove useful.

When I purchase a new app or upgrade existing apps the icon is light and underneath is shows waiting.  This is a new problems since the upgrade.  Please help.  I cannot use apps until I connect to computer and upgrade on itunes and re sync.

    Hope that helps.

  • My new app downloadings just show the "Waiting" symbol

With every new app I try to download, it goes to "waiting" and then stops. No more downloading, it just stops there. It's been stuck like that for two days. This happened once before, but it fixed itself about an hour later. I also tried to update Touchgrind, and then it did the same thing. Does anybody else have the same problem, or is it just me?

To get rid of the waiting you can power off then back on your iPod.
Restart iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the red slider
appears. Slide your finger across the slider to turn off iPod touch. To turn iPod touch
back on, press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button until the Apple logo appears.
If that does not work reset your iPod.
Reset iPod touch: Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
