New Update broke Itunes

The MSI file was corrupted somehow, and now I can't install a new Itunes version or uninstall the old one. I don't know where to go from here.

I'm really starting to think the apple updater software has a bug or something. Far too many itunes.msi problems every day.
Yeah, there's a bunch of them. But i'm still not convinced it's anything new.
We used to get the "feature is on a network resource that is unavailable" flavor of this in the 6.0.x days (it came with a 1316 error message number on the InstallShield-based installers). A number of them also correspond to the [application name].msi/1714/1603 error message combo from those days.
Those were among the commonest problem reports i treated then, too.
On the other hand, i don't like the sheer number of the things we're getting. I've tried making submissions/feedback on the main troubleshooting document:
Trouble installing iTunes or QuickTime software in Windows
... along the lines of "what precisely to do" when you get one of the missing .msi messages. But no joy on that front.
... So you and I end up having to (very regularly) teach people instead how and when to use Installer CleanUp against a missing .msi when people post here ...

It appears to be a bug with the current build. Hopefully it will be fixed in the next release.

Close your iTunes,
Go to command Prompt -
(Win 7/Vista) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES, right mouse click "Command Prompt", choose "Run as Administrator".
(Win XP SP2 & above) - START/ALL PROGRAMS/ACCESSORIES/Command Prompt
In the "Command Prompt" screen, type in
netsh winsock reset
Hit "ENTER" key
Restart your computer.
If you do get a prompt after restart windows to remap LSP, just click NO.
Now launch your iTunes and see if it is working now.
If you are still having these type of problems after trying the winsock reset, refer to this article to identify which software in your system is inserting LSP:

Downloading iOS 5 deleted all my photos, contacts, and text messages, i recieved an (-50) error during setup, and i was running the new update of iTunes.

I had the same problem and managed to get all my old contacts back. It was because I synced my contacts toiCloud on the initial setup, but nothing was in there. If you go to settings-iCloud- and turn off contacts, your old contacts should appear!

I have tried to download the new update for itunes now several times and it doesn't work! It gets so far then doesn't work. I have tried to uninstalled then reinstall itunes and that hasn't worked either so I no longer have a working itunes on my computer. And having an ipod nano, which doesn't have wifi I can't update it at all. Getting very annoyed!!!

Hi there, to authorize a computer, you open up itunes, and at the very very top lefthand corner, there will be a little window. Click on that, and it will present you with a list of options. From there, you go to the third option down, which says "Itunes Store," hover over it with your mouse, and it will give you another set of options. From there, you can see the two options, "Authorize" an "Deauthorize computer. Just click on "Authorize," enter in your apple ID and password, and your computer will be authorized! TS3212 Unable to download new update for iTunes on my computer after installing OS6 on iPhone

I have had no problems in the past being able to download updates until now.
I updated my iPhone 3GS to OS6 with no problems and now I cannot get my iTunes on my computer to download a new update from 10.5 to 10.7 and it now rejects my phone when syncing, saying that it needs to have an update to 10.6.3 or higher. Is there anyway to get the update function back to working on my current iTunes without having to reinstall? If I must reinstall my iTunes, will it still keep all my data from before like an update or do I lose everything and have to start from scratch or will the installer keep the old config that is currently installed?
Things I have tried:
Restarting the computer---same results
I opened the software update application inside the software folder--opens the update window but has no updates listed in it...then tried to update again while having it open--still nothing.
Only thing I can think of at this point is to reinstall.
Just hoping for any help in order to avoid having to do this.
(Using Windows7 64-bit on my computer)

I bit the bullet and downloaded a fresh install download from apple.com since the updater would no longer work.
Still a mystery as to why the updater was no longer working.
Kept the original installed iTunes where it was and sent the new install to its same folder location.
First couple of attempts failed to download but I persisted and the third attempt it downloaded.
After the download, I went into the iTunes folder, clicked on the setup icon and the install was made complete.
Fortunately as diesel pointed out, all of my settings and media remained intact.
Thanks to diesel vdub for providing a little assurance, and now all is back to normal and up to date once again.

Click here and follow the instructions. You may need to completely remove and reinstall iTunes and all related components, or run the process multiple times; this won't normally affect its library, but that should be backed up anyway.
