New Updates - Should I reinstall?

I have Aperture on my shelf. After many trials with version 1.5 I just gave up for multiple reasons. iPhoto 08 seems to be fine for me and I like the "Time Machine" in Leopard. I'm keeping an eye on the discussions to see when Apple "REALLY" upgrades Aperture. If "Time Machine" in Leopard does auto backups then why use Aperture which causes customers so much problems? Has the new 1.5.6 update satisfied you and I should attempt Aperture again? Or should I wait for a full version update?
Thanks

Aperture 1.5.6 has been freezing consistently since installing the last two OS updates. Also reports card reader has been inappropriately removed etc. when it has not. The Console data last recorded starts with:
Mac OS X Version 10.4.11 (Build 8S2167)

Prior to moving over from MacBookPro w/ 10.4.9 to the iMac 10.4.10 and now 10.4.11 Aperture rarely crashed. Corrupt image files? Importing NEF abd JPEGs from Nikon D80 with most current firmware.
