New User Guide (common questions)

Common Ipod Info
For those who just go an ipod here is some basic info on the ipod and how to do a few things.
Basic Info
Disconnecting/Connecting
Just plug in via USB and wait (can take a few minutes). Ipod will load up and the screen will show DO NOT DISCONNECT go to itunes and update it or add file do whatever to it.
TO DISCCONECT do not unplug if the screen says do not disconnect. Instead you have two options.
1.) In itunes right next to where it says NAME’s IPOD (in the source window) there is a small eject button. Or you can highlight you ipod and in the bottom right there is a bigger eject ipod button.
2.) Open my computer and you should see your ipod as a removable drive. Right click it and click eject.
Ipod’s do not actually hold 30gigs or 60gigs. In stead the 30gig holds ~28gigs. This is the same as hard drives something about 1024 bytes. Look it up via google if you really care. This is normal.
Multiple IPod
If you are sharing one computer with 2 or more iPod but do not want all the music and want only yours here is what you should do.
1.) Open I tunes
2.) Create a new play list (file->new play list) and name it something like Moo’s play list (so you know it is yours)
3.) Add the music you want to it (go to library and drag it to you play list.)
4.) Now plug in the ipod and go to edit>preferences>ipod
5.) Select update only selected play lists and check your play list.
6.) Wait for it to update and unplug and redo with second ipod
Getting Video’s to Ipod
WINDOWS ONLY
Two options that I use. For both the first step if getting form DVD is to save the DVD to your computer (caution DVD’s are huge! Have 10gigs for one movie to be safe.) You must have a DVD drive to do DVD’s. CD-ROMs will not work. If you don’t have a DVD drive you can get one for like 20 bucks.
First off the Videora method. Read this guide.
http://www.videora.com/en-us/Converter/guides.html
macleankara’s guide (a little bit more info and pretty simple too) http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=282835&tstart=15
Second is the Nero Recode method and you should read this guide
http://arstechnica.com/guides/tweaks/ipod-video.ars/5
I prefer Nero why because I paid for it and it’s a bonus feature I’m using by golly!
It won’t show up on my ipod! (Music and video)
Make sure it is in the correct format.
Video’s h.264 and mpeg-4 at 320x240 Also make sure the bit rate is at the appropriate level (another reason for videora its simple and auto in right bit rate) Make sure the screen is set to 320x240 or it wont play. Mpeg-4 can show up to 480x480 but the ipod’s screen is maxed at 320x240 so it will be shrunk down with black border on all sides.
Music just makes them into mp3’s
As for the battery read this from apple
http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=61434
hope this helps some people. and hopefully will reduce redundant questions

I don't know what you mean by "appendages".
You can create a contact which phone number will contain a pause, then continues other numbers, and then wait for a click from you, and then continue again.
from the home screen :
phone application >> menu >> help >> Phone basics >> Make a call >> Related tasks >> Add a pause or a wait to a phone number

  • New user sample files question

    hello,
i just installed the personal edition of lumira and want to know if there are any tutorials that use the data that is behind the "try with samples" button in lumira?
i have watched several tutorials prior to installing the software and i didn't see any that use the sample files.
i also browsed through some of the user guide for version 1.22 and it didn't use the sample files either, so i figure that i must be missing something.
any help on how to get started learning lumira would be greatly appreciated.
    thank you

    hi henry,
i watched several videos prior to installing the software to try and get a feel for what the software has to offer. i "hear" what you are saying about viewing tutorials, but many people don't learn that way. when you are trying to replicate something you see, using different data then the data shown in the video, it is very easy to forget something, then one would have to go back to the video, try and find the spot in the video that covers what you need. all of that back and forth is way too time consuming.
no, i have no plans on creating training exercises or teaching lumira. my goal is to compare and contrast it with other bi tools.
i have tons of spreadsheets of data. i imported some and realized that there is no way to change the formatting that i could find. for example, i wanted to add dollar signs to the data. the "display formatting" option doesn't have this feature.
on the prepare tab, i didn't see any way to do that. perhaps this can be done when you actually create a chart, but i haven't gotten that far. i'm still trying to figure out how to manipulate the data once it's brought into lumira, so to speak.
it could be me, but i get the feeling that it is best to have the data in the exact format that you need it in prior to importing it.
hope this better explains why videos aren't working for me.
    thank you

  • New user with several questions on forms and useage.

Once a user fills out a form, is there a way to make the data in the text fields un-editable?
While I'm here, on the same form there are several fields that are required to be filled out. Is it possible to prevent the user from being able to save the form before they fill out the required fields?
I have an Excel file that when opened asks the user for certain data and automatically puts the entered data into the required cells using VB. Is it possible to do the same in Adobe?
Been using Acrobat for years, but my company only uses it for simple pdf creation and maybe putting stamps on customer supplied files, so these probably seem like simple questions.
By the way this is on Acrobat 8 Pro.
    Thanks for any help!

Once a user fills out a form, is there a way to make the data in the text fields un-editable?
Yes. The best is by using a digital signature. Second best is by using a script to set the fields as read-only at some point.
Is it possible to prevent the user from being able to save the form before they fill out the required fields?
No. You can set fields as required but that only applies when the file is submitted. You can display an error message when the file is being saved if some of the required scripts are not filled-in (using a script), but you can't prevent someone from saving the file.
I have an Excel file that when opened asks the user for certain data and automatically puts the entered data into the required cells using VB. Is it possible to do the same in Adobe?
Yes, that's possible. Again, using a script.
By the way this is on Acrobat 8 Pro.
This is quite an old version, not compatible with any current operating system. You should consider upgrading...

Hi, I'm brand new to Apple computers so I apologize if I'm a little slow with some of the stuff. I just purchased a G4 with the Tiger X v10.4 and can't locate the dashboard. Am I missing something or does it not come with the computer?

To access the Dashboard, click the icon which is
second from the left in the Dock or press the F12
    key.

I don't even have the dashboard icon...can I download dashboard?

  • New user Union efficiency question.

I have feeling I read this some where but can no longer seem to find any information on the following:
Which is more efficent to the following with Physical tables A and B
    SELECT * FROM (A union B) WHERE ID < 97 AND ID > 103
    or
    SELECT * FROM A WHERE ID < 97 AND ID > 103 UNION SELECT * FROM B WHERE ID < 97 AND ID > 103.
And more to the point how would I test / profile this ?
    Thanks
    Mark

Silly me it was a threoretical question in as much as the code I'm trying to maintain is a little more complex and the records in both tables whilst being the same do not have contiguous ID values.
I found an article on materialized views at http://www.akadia.com/services/ora_materialized_views.html and used set autotrace on and timing on and found that after creating two copies of the same table both gave the same performance. ( with corrected Id values of course ;-))
Thanks ever so much and Regards
    Mark.

  • New user - perhaps silly question

    Hi there,
We just bought our first Ipod Classic 80 GB and we want to put all our old CD´s approx: 300 on it. Now my question is: Is it neccesary to store them all in the Itunes library. I cant seem to delete them as have stored them on the Ipod. We have a rather old PC - And I think that I will kill it with all those GB stored.
    Can anyone pls help ?
    Thanks in advance.

If you want to delete songs from iTunes and keep them on the iPod you need to change the update option of your iPod to "manually manage music and videos". Your iPod will not sync with iTunes in this mode so it can have different content, you can get details here:
    Managing content manually on iPod
    iPod 101: Fill 'er Up
One major word of caution. If you delete songs or videos from your computer and have no back up other than the iPod you will risk losing them permanently if your iPod fails or you find you have to restore it to solve a problem. You should consider investing in an additional internal or external hard drive to store/back up your music. Alternatively at the very least back up anything you can't replace such as iTunes downloads to CD or DVD: How to back up your media in iTunes
Something else to be aware of when using an iPod in manual mode is that the "Do Not Disconnect" message will remain on the display until you physically eject the device. In that case use Safely Remove Hardware icon in the Windows system tray on your desktop or check this link: Safely Disconnect IPod

  • New user with a question..plz help

I have a MSI ms-6390 and i can not figure out on how to use my Vipper V770 agp card to work..i am curertly using the on board video..i went to bios and disabled the vga share memory size and when i restart it..both my onboard and my agp video card do not work..please help

I'd look further into your BIOS settings.
I am not familiar with that BIOs so I'm speculating. There is no need to disable the Memory share for starters.
It sould disable it automatically..I could be wrong here.
There should be a setting that will allow you to choose initialization settings. Something like "Integrated Peripherals" Under that setting there should be a setting "Init Display First"
AGP should be selected. You may have to play with these settings...That is if you can see your BIOS sisnce you claim that now both don't work.
Also try reseating Your Memory, you may have jostled it loose while you were in the case.

  • FM 9.0 New User and a Question

Ouch... this interface is killin' me!   I'm having an issue with the paragraph designer.  I click a menu icon and the viewing window doesn't change.  I can close and reopen the doc and all is well.  But is there a fix out there somewhere?  Has anyone had this issue?  I'm running XP Pro and the system specs are above min. requirements.  Thanks for any help you can give!

No, the ruler issue is still an issue. If you use the ruler to set up paragraph formats ....ect., the para designer freezes and you have to re-start FM. I am up to date and there are a lot of threads about this. I am used to it. Have they fixed the problem in FM10?
    Thanks,

  • New User - 6tb MyBook Questions

I just purchased the 6TB MyBook and once plugging it in realize it only had 5.45TB - is that normal to be missing that much space? Can I delete any of the files that come on the hard drive? I see some instruction manuals, apps for mac and windows, extra, locale and some other stuff - I dont want to delete anything I am not supposed to of course!  I also have SIX   1TB externals - all WD - I want to upload all of them to this My Book, they are not all full but almost. What is the best option for this? My laptop has 2 usb 3.0 ports but would a powered hub be helpful? or would it be no difference. -  Any recommendations on uploading and transfering a lot of photo/video files would be great.  Bare with me as I am just learning all of this storage. I accidently purchased the MyCloud first but then realized there is no real "fast" way to get all my 6TB onto it. Was really hoping this had more than 5.4TB on it but maybe that much drop off is normal or maybe all these files that come on it can be deleted. Any info is appreciated!

Hello and welcome to the WD Community.
It's not that the capacity is less than what it says in the label, it's just the difference with the binary and decimal numbers.

  • IPad2 User Guide

One the first apps I downloaded when we got the iPad was the User's Guide. Sold the iPad and
just picked up new Black 32 GB iPad2 and can't seem to find a new users guide.
The old appdoes not show an update and just wonder if Apple posted anything like a user's guide for the iPad2?
The iTunes transition from the iPad to IPad2 was no big deal.

I was on the iPad2 and double click to download but have no idea what iOS 4.3 did
with the .pdf file or how to find and read it on the iPad. I then opened the document
in the iPad's Safari but it does not have a normal Safari Save As button so I could not
save the file on the iPad. The only thing I could do was to bookmark the link and that
is only good as long as I have WiFi connectivity.
I then got on the iMac and saved the file as ipad2_userguide.pdf. Now for the
$64K question. How do get the .pdf file on the iPad2 and what app do I need to
download and install to be able to review it on the iPad

  • Why ctreative cloud  try  to install Photoshop CC again on same pc, new user?

I had glitches  and did what I usually do, created a new local user in win8.    Every program I already installed on pc should work, right?     But creative cloud try to install photoshop again.   Should I do so?  It's already working , just showed me once  its license again.    Only problem it lost all my settings.  How could I transfer them easily?         When I try upload in sync settings it just shows ' connecting to creative cloud" forever and nothing happens
One more question is how can I move Lightroom base into new user?

Lightroom questions are best answered here: Photoshop Lightroom
When Preferences > Sync hangs, I stop the sync.
Then I hold down the Alt key on my PC. The Cancel button changes to Reset. I click on "Reset" and then I try the Upload again.
In my case it completely uploaded all my setting including 57 MB worth of Patterns.
    I'm using Photoshop CC 2014.
    See if this helps you.

  • Is there a ipod touch user guide for ios 6

I am doing ths for my wife and me if and when I replace my ipod touch, we would like to know if there is a new user guide out yet?

Not yet. There probably will be by the time the 5th-generation iPod touch ships. If you're upgrading your current iPod, the iPhone manual might be of help since many of the features and settings will be the same, though not all:
iPhone User Guide (For iOS 6 Software)
